The staff at the resort was outstanding, particularly Chicken Leg, who is the life of the party and always ensures that guests are having a great time. The resort itself is beautiful and clean, with plenty of activities to enjoy and nightly entertainment. I will definitely be visiting again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the activities this year, particularly with Yoan, the tennis pro. Excellent service by Yohan (Seasons Driver). Resort staff was extremely friendly to me and my gf. Always making sure we were comfortable. Bed is great. Will come back here again to enjoy this beautiful beach and amenities. Thank you! Happy

We stayed at this beautiful resort Feb 28 thru March 5. We were in the Excellence Club. This was our 6th time here and just as good as the first time! We have people that know us from the first time and treat us like family.❤️ Our weather was spectacular the whole time and so was our service. Some people I would love to give great gratitude to are the following- concierges Alberich and Ines at the club level beach, we love you! Bianca and Melvin at the concierge desk in the lobby! Beyond the best! Melvin was right on it when we had trouble with our air conditioning in our room, and Bianca made sure our room had what it needed everyday! Waiter Antonio at Magna, great service! Randy at The Grill, great service. Miriam at The Kitchen Table, great service at breakfast! I would highly recommend this resort if you want to feel like you’re at home on the beach! That’s how we feel each time.❤️ We did go down the beach for massages, Gundala’s Tropical Treasures, one of the best massages we’ve had! This resort offers so many restaurants that you never get bored! And the grounds are spectacular as well!

So...this is difficult but I think deserved rating. It doesn't make sense as I list the items below but I think I would possibly consider going again based upon the price I paid however I want to share my opinions and experiences for those that possibly want certain assurances of how a resort acts. Sorry I am not going to grammer check this as I have already given a great deal of time to this experience :-) In my opinion, the staff tried but were inefficient and sometimes just rude (sundry shop refused to charge items to my room until I stated I had done yesterday and I would be happy to discuss with front desk on how I could do this). Overall I felt like they seemed scared. For example for the all inclusive lobster bisque which can only be described as tomato soup with chunks of lobster (LOL!!), my wife and I decided to abandon this and the other items and go back to the bar for a pork sandwich and when we asked for a To Go box it was apparent management had stated to staff that the resort is OK giving sub standard food like the lobster bisque but allowing people to take back to their suites was not allowed. The employee kept looking around and saying I'm sorry you aren't allowed to leave with food. Ohhh I have to share the hibachi was like just watching a short order cook...there was no typical hibachi show. I was told to make sure I booked it and if you want a short order cook going chirp chirp chirp when he cracks eggs and mooo when he puts steak on the grill then by all means go but that is ALL the "chef" did...a hibachi show it was not. Our room was beautiful and wish items worked in it. I did not appreciate in our honeymoon suite that the jacuzzi was not working correctly or shower drain was clogged. The plunge pool stopped working. All our floor lamps and one desk lamp did not work. The upstairs terrace lighting was missing a diffuser cover and just had a rusted CFL bulb brightly shining giving us option of pitch black or spotlight. Also the AC throughout the room seemed to have issues dehumidifying maybe because of all the water features in the rooms so must have been pumping room in the building. I am comparing this to other Caribbean resorts and wasn't the worst, just annoying and our clothes smelled musty when we got home. Worth it for in room jacuzzi, pool and spa shower. Hilarious to have a sign that we need to keep patio door locked but ours did not even have a locking mechanism and had 2-3 screws in the frame I think was supposed to be to help it latch as the wind whistled the entire time. Our transfer pickup that was included did not arrive and only after all of the above, which I conveyed to the staff multiple times and during checkout and it was NEVER addressed or followed up or fixed or any offer to make it up to us. So when the transfer didn't show I sadly finally had to lose it and convey in a very direct manner if they couldn't get us to the airport and on our flight as I paid for and was promised I would ensure that every dime of expense I accrued would be paid for by anyone and everyone associated with your reservation. The valet team did work hard to resolve but the independent transfer company didn't seem to care until valet conveyed my promise to them. So not really the carribean vacation I wanted...but as I stated above it was not average but location was nice. I believe I overpaid for what I was provided in service but if room had features working it would have made it worth it. If I were to go again I would inspect the room and send to them in writing for immediate repair or restitution and I think would then get my money's worth. So if you take the above here are the good things. The room was amazing size and beautiful to hang out. The pool was fun and the beaches well kept with ample chairs and seating. The cabana rental and spa were great and relaxing. Club level was worth it. I don't expect good food at all inclusives especially at this price point but in my opinion and experience this was the worst all inclusive food I have ever had with buffet service waiters seemed to not want to be there, which I told myself they must be way underpaid. So after all of the above I was never asked for a rating no one followed-up with me during the stay or after which really gave me the opinion they don't give a flying F about our experience or keeping property up.

This was our first stay at EEC. We previously stayed at the ERC and the EPC. We stayed at a swim out suite in building 6 and payed for the club level. Our room had an expected musty smell and occasionally a cigarette smell which we attributed to the people next to us who were smokers. It was not bad enough to request a room change. Our pool was not warm enough for me to swim in but the hot tub was indeed warm! However, more often than not, there were no bubbles. The food was above average and we dined at Magna twice for dinner and once for breakfast. I really enjoyed my rack of lamb and ordered it both times. My husband ordered the short ribs. He said they were excellent the first night but gristley the second night. We also both enjoyed the filet mignon at Chez Isabelle. Our other favorite was Basmati where we ate twice. I would like to give special recognition to servers that really impressed us and touched our hearts: Wilken and Benjamin at Magna, Gerghal at Lobster House, Luis Fernando and Ivanessa at Basmati. As Club members we really enjoyed our visits to the Magna bar. Ivaliesse made the BEST espresso martinis and margaritas. She even accommodated my request to use decaf espresso I brought from our room. We went to the spa twice. Once for the included hydrotherapy session and again for a couples massage. We thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. Karelyn and Dorka were excellent ambassadors in the hydrotherapy suite. Jisette and Yoja were our wonderful massage therapists. My husband said it was the best massage he ever had (Yoja). Lastly, I visited the Revive smoothie bar each day after a workout at the fitness center. I looked forward to seeing Brigida who always remembered my order--Power smoothie. Note, Revive moved (temporarily?) from it's original location to sharing the space with the bar beneath the Lobster House.

I struggled giving a 4 but I don't think it deserves a 3. The good: Seasons transfer was seamless as always. The resort is STUNNING and modern. They work so hard to make everything look nice and it always does. The layout is the best in my opinion. Everything is placed so conveniently no matter where your room is located. The beach is gorgeous, zero seaweed. The food trucks are so convenient and delicious! The nightclub is a fun option when the nightly entertainment is over. DJ Lama at Alegria is phenomenal. Most of the staff was so eager to help you and make your stay the best they could. The not so good: Room- We had a corner swim up room that I was so grateful for. However, the room was not great. There was a water gurgling sound in the wall that went all day and night. It was very loud at night so I let the front desk know. I went by twice. They assured me maintenance would be by to fix it but it was never fixed. The sink in the bathroom had a leak that soaked the floor every time you turned it on. The bathroom floor was covered in old water damage (I hate to say mold because I'm not sure). Pool- The main pool is small and I would have preferred if there was more room to pull the pool chairs out into the sun from under the palapas. The swim up bar is in the shade most of the day unfortunately. Food- Not bad, didn't get sick but was very careful what we ate. We had ordered a pizza with just pepperoni at Oregano on night one and on our last night went to order the same, but was told "No, not on the menu". (There are pizzas with pepperoni + other toppings on the menu) Not a huge deal but felt like waiter wasn't willing to even look into it. Grill and Chez was the best food and best service. The constant QR codes being handed to you to write a google review is honestly quite annoying. I will admit, we were spoiled at Excellence Playa Mujeres. You will be disappointed here if EPM was your level of expectation.

It has been our second stay at Excellence El Carmen, and it is becoming one of our favorite places to stay in the Caribbean. The hotel is beautiful, and you can see attention to detail in every aspect, including the type of quiet, background music that changes at different times of the day, and the beautiful exotic plants that are taken care of daily. The true highlight of the resort is the people who work there—friendly, happy, and always willing to help. I would like to distinguish two employees who made our stay special: • Joan, the Tennis Pro: A truly excellent coach. Hardworking and dedicated, he did everything to teach us. We played with Joan every day. A tennis pro like Joan increases the value of the resort. • Alberich, the concierge in the Club section of the beach: He made our time spent on the beach very enjoyable. From the selection of the chairs/cabanas that considered our preferences, to friendly chats and smiles and drinks - we would like to come back knowing that he will be there! Thank you, Joan and Alberich, and all the helpful, friendly people whose names I don’t remember (especially in Magna restaurant). Thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience.

This was our second time to Excellence El Carmen (EEC) but we are loyal Excellence resort travelers. EEC is a beautiful, lush Caribbean resort with natural and modern design. As soon as we arrived, we received a huge hug from our brother Hector, who we met on our last visit...

This was our second time to Excellence El Carmen (EEC) but we are loyal Excellence resort travelers. EEC is a beautiful, lush Caribbean resort with natural and modern design. As soon as we arrived, we received a huge hug from our brother Hector, who we met on our last visit in 2022. Hector welcomed us home with a glass of champagne and escorted us to the Excellence Club (EC) check in with Gebran, who was amazing. Of course, we promised we would visit Hector at his post every day, because he is now part of our family. We love you Hector Julio. After EC check in, we grabbed drinks at the EC bar. What great staff they have at the lounge – we added on to our family with Eloy and Ivelisse. Eloy’s personality is the perfect addition to the EC bar. And Ivelisse just emits happiness and grace. Watch out, sometimes Eloy gives you a little flare. Like watching the movie Cocktail – but Dominican style. Highly recommend a smoked old fashioned or magnarita. Although, all the cocktails are heavenly. After our room was ready, we were whisked away by Ibhar – our Imperial Suite concierge, who gave us detailed information about the grounds, the restaurants and everything we needed to know. We cannot say enough about Ibhar, he is extraordinary or excelente (both apply) and made everything perfect, no matter what we asked. Top super star this trip! Once we were settled, Imperial Suite (IS) 9072 was as beautiful as IS 9071, which we had last visit. Private pool, two sets of sliding glass doors, loads of lounging areas on the patio and a direct ocean front view. Every day was spent at our private pool with many visits from Genesis and on her days off Rossy. These ladies were stationed at the Palms bar but provided us direct food and drink service to our IS every day. They both were amazing, but I do have to say that I absolutely loved Genesis. Her sweet smile lit up my day after a long night of cocktails and excitement. At the end of the trip, I had to stop and see her before we left. I can’t wait to see her again next year. We love you Genesis. Some food endorsements: Highly recommend the Dominican pizza (super delicioso) from Oregano, the quesadillas and tacos from Las Olas and the cuban sandwich and loaded fries from the food truck. These are all so good, don’t miss out. Depending on the item, it may be available through room service also. Use the Excellence app to peruse the menus for the various restaurants and/or to see what entertainment is going on at the main pool for the day. We took the opportunity to bar hop several days and visited Jerson (pronounced like Harrison, in like Ford or so what it became after a few shots) at the Bliss bar, Epiann at Palms, Joan, Helen or Carmen at the Martini bar (daytime). We basically walked around and stopped at every bar for a shot. I mean, it’s vacation. Most of our nights were spent in the Sports Bar at one time or another with Alvin, Rincon, Demaris and Lariel. It felt like a family reunion since we remembered Lariel and Alvin and they remembered us too – how that’s possible with as many people as they see, I have no idea. It’s a great hang out spot for casual people watching or even sports (who would have thought-lol). You must get the cheese fingers in the Sports Bar. Holy mother of queso, they are phenomenal. Our other main hang out spot was the Martini bar with Jensi (Jensy – we’ll get back to him), Nikauray, Yonatan, Helen, and Emanuel. Pull up a chair at the bar (or at one of the cozy couch/table areas off to the side) and let these cocktail slinging professionals do what they do best. Breakfasts were on repeat at Magna with Jasmin as our hostess, I highly recommend the Dominican style eggs. Edwin, Osvaldo and Benjamin were our waiters. Edwin was one of the highlights of our trip, what an amazing personality. He made us feel like family and even kept us up to date on our Espanol lessons. Magna has indoor and outdoor dining, and the view is amazing from the restaurant and lounge. We also had two dinners there, short ribs or the ribeye = yummy. In the evenings, Magna with Emilio (supervisor – given the fancy vest) and Luis were a must. And of course, a stop at the EC bar to see Eloy and Ivelisse for dessert before heading wherever the evening took us next. We had dinner two nights at Chez Isabelle which was unbelievable. One of the nights was the Valentines Day special dinner, and they even had acrobatic entertainment. They had a 5-course special menu, so fancy. Julio was our waiter and provided top notch service. The plaza area going up to Chez Isabelle was decorated so beautifully for Valentines Day. There were multiple backdrops for pictures and live music playing. It was beyond magic. Our complimentary spa treatment of the Diamond Ritual couples massage was relaxing and peaceful. This spa has more of a modern feel than other Excellence properties and seems larger than most. Our spa attendants were Ana, Antonia and Karolyn – all excellent and extremely friendly. Dinner at the Grill was always a top choice when deciding. The tenderloin is ! Our waiter, Jose made sure everything was perfect, and it always was. To our surprise we saw an old friend Adelso. We were so happy to see him again, it’s been since 2022. And again, he remembered us, which is so special, and you really can’t say that about many places you travel. For a lighter meal option, Flavor Market, the tapas restaurant is outstanding. We went our first full night and let Sanchez and Michael pick our courses. The small portions were just right and unbelievably tasty. Time for a small shout out to our housekeeping and mini bar staff, who were all fabulous. I apologize that I didn’t get all their names, but Moises kept our mini bar stocked and always gave us extra water, which we needed! Maritza made sure our room was spotless, and she did something that amazed me. She literally grouped all our skin care / sun protection products together in threes on the shelf above the sink. And every day made an Excellence flower with a towel at the entry of our shower. It blew me away. The attention to detail, just outstanding. I can’t finish this review out without mentioning one of our perks for being in the IS was a 1-hour private bar service at our room. Here’s where our friend Jensi comes back in. We requested Jensi, because we seriously love him like family. And our friends had the other IS next to us, so we had the pleasure of his acquaintance 2 days. Picture it, out on your own private patio, with the most beautiful view of the ocean, getting served delicious cocktails. It was like a private cocktail party just for us and our friends. This resort is pure modern Caribbean beauty at its finest and very easy to navigate around without getting lost. The food, the entertainment, the accommodations are all what the Excellence brand stands for. There are so many things we loved about it that we’ve already booked next year. Can’t wait to see you again EEC. We love Excellence.

This was our first experience at an Excellence Resort and it was better than I expected!! My past experiences at all inclusives have had subpar drinks and food but not here. Both were very, very good!! The beach was really nice. Great sand, fairly easy to get great seats and the water was crystal blue with some movement to make it fun but not too rough! What stood out: - We did not have to fight over lounge chairs. I’ve stayed at too many resorts where the urgency to wake at 7am to snatch your chairs is real. Not here. We had a huge group (9 couples!) and we leisurely found our way to the pools/beach around noon and were able to find great seats every day. - The food. Magna surf and turf was fantastic. The hibachi was yummy (hard to mess up) and the waitstaff and chef were so fun they made it a great experience. Jenrry was the man! The breakfast buffet at Kitchen + Table was also fantastic. They had a huge variety. - Drinks. EC bar had high end liquor - grey goose, don julio, etc. Even the standard bar had Tito’s. They made excellent drinks. - Layout - we were in building 5 and the location was exceptional. It felt like there were several buildings that were close to everything but also had privacy - There was a woman and I’m sorry I forgot her name. Started with an M. She found us every single day to help us make dinner reservations for the evening. We met her the first night and when she saw how large our party was she made it her mission to accommodate us. We had to be a little flexible with times but we got into every restaurant we wanted on the days we wanted. Where there could improve: - The poolside/beachside service was practically non existent and they didn’t serve food. We maybe saw our server once every 45 min. Bars were close enough to serve ourselves but the food was a bummer. It’s so nice having lunch or an afternoon snack from your lounge chair on a nice day. - The rooms could use a facelift. They were large and well appointed but could use a little help with feeling more welcoming and warm. Lots of black and white tiling with little texture or coziness. Not a big deal at all but worth noting.

Spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week over the last week of February. We thought the resort was lovely, food was very good, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The only negative we have is that the room didn’t get quite cold enough for our liking at night, but everything else was great.

Overall, as a whole, this was an incredible resort with really great amenities, and I would definitely come back again. Food: 8/10, there was at least 2-3 stand out dishes at almost every restaurant and portions everywhere are small which encourage you to try multiple things. (I live in the southwest so I skipped the Mexican restaurant). Get the lamb at the Indian restaurant and thank me later Drinks: 10/10 NiKaury, Senoy, Yonatan, and Enmanuel all held it down and honestly kinda made the trip. Activities: 10/10 the whole activity/entertainment group was awesome. Kaila, Brenda, mini cooper, and chicken legs were great at the pool with the dance classes. The tennis instructor, Joan, was a great teacher and I hope everyone gets to go at least one activity with him. Service: 10/10 everyone made sure that we were greeted with a smile and even with my broken Spanish they tried their best and helped with my speaking

They both continued to remember us even though they worked other shifts at other restaurants. They took amazing care of us! The whole staff here was amazing but these 2 gentlemen really made our visit Excellent!! Only feedback I could give would be to the bar personnel. They were not real well trained on making suggestions on drinks like the bar staff at Excellence Riviera.

My girlfriend and I had a great time at Excellence El Carmen. Our room was clean and fully stocked and replenished every day. There are a number of restaurants to choose from most of which are quite good. “Las Olas” the restaurant right on the beach was one of our favorites. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful beach area. Multiple pools and jacuzzis. If they have “Dominican Night” while you are there, we highly recommend it. It had a live band (very good musicians), dancers in costume, and audience participation (for those who wanted to - no pressure). All this is going on while you have dinner. I don’t know about you, but we don’t get that at home too often :-) There was some form of entertainment every night. The tennis pro was great and we took a joint lesson. He was patient and offered a lot of good advice. As others have mentioned, it’s nice if you can leave small tips at meals or when ordering drinks. We brought a bunch of $1 bills and would leave just a couple bucks at the restaurants, for bartenders, baristas, and the team that cleaned our room. Yes, it’s an “all inclusive” and there’s absolutely no obligation to do so. But it’s a nice gesture for the hard working team that helps to make Excellence El Carmen a fantastic destination. This was our 7th stay at an excellence resort. We visited this resort in October 2024 and decided to come back in March 2025. This resort by far has the most consistent service! Mini Cooper was one of our favorites. He learned our names on day 1 and made sure to come check on us every day to see if we needed anything! The rest of the entertainment staff including Chicken Legs and Johnny Walker are amazing as well but Mini won a spot in our hearts. The drink service by the pool was great. Im not a huge presidente drinker and Jenny would go to the other bar and bring me a bucket of Dos Equis!! That is service because the club car is a good walk! I forgot the bar tenders name at the pool bar but he was great as well. If Sonia comes around you have to get a massage from her! we did this in October and requested her in March! she is the Best!! Also cant leave out Joan and Helen at the Martini Bar. Joan is also always wanting to please and we love coming back to these familiar faces. I would say most of the food is pretty good but Agave and Las Olas were our least favorite. Also the menu At Chez Isabelle is better in Mexico. Saying that we cant wait to be back in July for my wifes birthday!!

Everything was wonderful, with the exception of the transportation arrangements to and from Excellence El Carmen and the airport. The passenger service itself was wonderful. However, the directives on where to proceed to get our ride at the airport were unclear. We had experienced some delays with waiting for our transportation. This was even after check in ng to make sure everything was okay for departing the next day. We stayed at an oceanfront suite with a swim up pool. The room was quite nice. The food was delicious. Noteables this time was the Flavor Market. The octopus was delicious, and I loved it. The wait staff were attentive to our needs. Shout outs to Lorenzo, Isaiah, Henry, and Stephenson. The service and care at the beach with Ines and Alberich was as last time first rate. My wife is already planning our next return.

Worst experience ever. This resort violated all privacy laws imaginable. A complete stranger called the resort and gave them my name and the person answering the phone at the resort not only gave our room number but also the person’s full name who I was staying with which resulted in an assault once we returned from our trip. When I called to talk to someone about what happened they said they were going to do a full investigation into the phone call but have since ignored our emails and follow ups. That is dangerous to say the least. They are currently being investigated regarding this matter and legal action has been taken. Stay away from this establishment should privacy be a concern.
