Our time at Zoetry was truly magical. The property is incredibly well maintained and beautiful, and the beaches are so pristine. The entire place is so quiet, and we would rarely see many other people out and about during the day except at the restaurants-which is exactly what we were looking for! The food was excellent, and the spa was incredible! The gym was also well equipped. Amada, our personal concierge was extremely hands on without being overbearing. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a rejuvenating and relaxing beach getaway!

The property was absolutely beautiful, and the people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Seriously, this really made the experience! Shout out to Gabriel, Alejandra and Alejandro, Laedy and especially everyone in Indigo as well as Esther and Natali, Santa Marguilr ( housekeeper) and the beautiful, tall waitress in Paragua. The beach was among the most beautiful we have ever seen (and we’ve been to Maui, Santorini, Capri, Phuket, etc).and we liked that the property was quiet and smaller. The only issue is that the food left a little to be desired, given the price. Actually, Zoëtry should offer a buffet like the others or provide a shuttle to the Secrets sister property not far away. There were only three restaurants at night to choose from, and 1-2 were often reserved for a larger group—-which left us nothing but room service, which was mediocre. One last thing: I noticed that the staff was kind to the song birds that might swoop in and call for a piece of bread or the cat that patrolled the property. I appreciated this. Thank you for the experience. I hope that we can come again.

The Pros: The grounds are absolutely beautiful and extremely well-maintained. The resort feels like a small quiet sprawling community with pleasant architecture and not a high-rise crowded conglomerate. Our Ocean Front Jr. King Deluxe suite was beautiful and spacious. The staff were all exceptional and attentive. As staff members got to know our likes, they made sure to cater to our likings. Our butler Johan was an absolute Rock Star! Whatever we wanted, he made it happen! Johan was a highlight of the experience of our stay. I cannot speak highly enough of Johan! Renny at the reception desk was excellent! Jendilier provided us with great service for our breakfast and lunch dining. The Cons: The food! The food was fair at the very best. In all fairness, Johan arranged a special birthday dinner request that the chef prepared for us and it was amazing! Thank you, Chef! Unfortunately, this was the only good meal we had with another exception being that Johan personally made a pizza for me that was the 2nd best meal! Zoetry is a beautiful resort and has excellent service and staff. For an all-inclusive higher-end resort, food is a major factor. The bars do not offer premium liquors and the beer selections are very limited. If you like Corona or Presidente, you are in luck because that is about all there was to choose from. Pinot Noir wine was only available by the bottle at an additional charge! Corporate at Hyatt has to wake up and address the food challenges at Zoetry!

All staff were exceptional. Enjoyed Gilberto and his group who provided great entertainment every night. Very pleasant experience day and night without massive crowds. Family friendly environment and happy to take care of guests. Restaurants were pleasant because there was never a line or crowd.

Zoetry is a boutique hotel and a perfect location for our friend’s wedding. Gorgeous grounds and beach. Exceptional service consistently. Our Butler, Johan took care of us for the 6 days we were at the resort. The bars were stocked with call brands and extensive wine list. Food and service were excellent! Our room was ocean front with a thatched roof that produced a lovely sound when there was light rain overnight. I’d like to recognize our favorite staff members: Johan, Wilca, Gilberto Jr, Jordi, Elizabeth at the front desk and the house keeping staff (I didn’t get her name).

We loved the resort. It is beautiful and so well maintained; it's immaculate. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the food is very good, and the pools are great, although we spent all of our time at the beach. The sand is soft and the water is so warm and calm, not rough or rocky at all. We had heard there were lots of mosquitoes, but we didn't get even one bite. The staff at the resort is exceptional, always smiling and offering help and a laugh everyday. Special thanks to Wiris our concierge, Jordy at the lobby bar every night, Sante our housekeeper who kept our room so beautifully and our friend Esther who looked after us so amazingly at the beach each day. The evening entertainments in the lobby were just perfect; enjoyable without being overdone and loud. There was a great variety of shows, which we really enjoyed each evening . I also really loved the afternoon tea in the garden, especially when the pianist was there to entertain. Lots of very thoughtful and wonderful little things each day to make every guest feel special. Zoetry has figured out how to attract a crowd that likes small, intimate hotels, with all the luxuries and services that anyone would want. There are only 90 rooms, and most days you felt like the place was half full when it was actually full. The resort is very spread out for such a small hotel, so you never felt crowded at any time of day or evening. We will definitely return.

The People at Zoetry Punta Cana are fabulous, however since the transition to Hyatt, the hotel is not the same. Juan Carlos brought up our suitcases on the first day, and hooked us up with hot coffee and fresh fruit first thing every morning for the rest of the vacation. This was wonderful. Food Amaya, Piragua, and Olena had rotating menus on opposite nights. This was a nice update from previous visits. Olena. I didn’t care for the food at Olena because both times we went it was very warm inside and the fish entrée was overcooked to a hockey puck. Buffet Lunch. Zoetry has added a buffet lunch by the pool bar almost daily. This was a nice speedy option. Fresh Juice. The fresh juice blends at Indigo in the morning were AMAZING! I tried every one – and “Winner” was my favorite. The chocolate croissants and lattes at Café CoCo were something I looked forward to every day. My husband was a big fan of the donuts. The chefs at Indigo / Amaya were amazing. They took everything I said and turned it into a delicious meal: an entire fried fish, fresh avocado every morning, rice and carrots because I loved them, and a birthday dinner that was absolutely unbelievable. The chefs and food were amazing. For my birthday, they put out a gorgeous table setting, a huge meal of fish, singing, hugs across the restaurant, and a giant cake with a roman candle. It was magical. The entire staff at Amaya truly outdid themselves. Muzak. Every restaurant except Indigo played the same “spa sound” Muzak throughout the meals. Imagine this AI noise at a volume that was so loud you can’t talk – it actually was very annoying. Indigo played arrangements of pop and jazz that were in the background and much more cheerful than Amaya, Piragua, and Olena. Things Horseback riding. This is still fun – but the ride was much shorter than last time. There also seemed to be a LOT more rides in front of the property. As a result, watch out for horse poop as you walk on the beach. Events. The nightly events at the Canoa bar were the same as previous visits, and an hour of fun. The property was also trying to have more events daily – rum tasting, wine tasting, other tastings. I felt this took away from the spa atmosphere that Zoetry was known for. Beach Chairs. The chair towel game occurs at the resort. We could find a place in the shade if we went down by 8:30, but not really any later. Vendors. On previous trips, there was one vendor per day maximum. This trip, I felt like there were 4-5 vendors on the property every day. They were not trying to hard sell their wares, but it did not feel great. Snorkeling. We brought our own masks and needed to borrow life vests and flippers. The snorkeling right off the hotel is very nice – one morning I saw 30 different fish species. However, I honestly cannot tell you if the snorkeling equipment is free to borrow at the resort. When we went and asked, the SeaPro person (if he was available) would make like there was no equipment left, give out broken equipment, and then try to hard sell an excursion. Really try to hard sell, uncomfortably so. It was so bad that we complained to the butler. We even saw Mr. SeaPro charge two different sets of guests two different rates to use the snorkel gear. The last time we checked out equipment, he passively aggressively gave my husband two different sized flippers. Mr. Sea Pro was the only person that made me feel uncomfortable at the resort. Rooms Room Service. The cleaning and turndown service was great. We requested fresh juice once a day – and it was there in the fridge every night. I had to call more than once to have the breakfast plates picked up. I never had to call for pickup previously, most likely this was because the room was on the third floor. Pillows. Our king bed had two pillows. For a 5* resort, that just felt stingy. Laundry. Currently, only 3 pieces of laundry per person per visit are free at the resort, which is a huge change from previous visits. Our flights were messed up, and after 48 hours in the same clothes – I successfully bargained for all of those clothes to be cleaned for the flight home. But no other laundry services were free – I wish I had known this in advance as I would have packed differently. Maintenance I was very sad to see that the previous flagship of the Zoetry line was in dire need of basic love and maintenance. Beach Sand. The beach sand needed to be cleaned. There were small pieces of trash, straw wrappers, limes, cigarette butts, etc. that were around the chairs all week. They team did a good job on the seaweed, but in the chairs – it wasn’t the gorgeous soft sand that I remembered from the prior visits. Roofs. Several of the beach palapa had holes in the roofs. MANY of the buildings across the property had plastic sticking out and waving through the thatching and trees growing on the roofs. Broken Beach Chair. One of the beach chair backs was broken, it would not sit up at all and would lay half on the ground. I showed it to at least 5 different people in hopes that it would be replaced and saw other guests doing the same. However, the broken chair was there for 3 days in a row before it was removed. Shrubbery. I paid for a swim-up suite on the first floor along the serpentine pool. We checked in and the shrubs had grown over the entire space – you could only see out from a small doorway through the green. I was really unhappy with that view and felt like I was in jail – this seemed to be the heaviest shrubbed room on the west side of the resort. I voluntarily downgraded to a room on the third floor with an ocean view and breeze. The shrubs need to be trimmed throughout the property. You couldn’t see out from the patio of Piragua due to the hedges either. Rest Room. The rest room by the pool bar is very heavily used. The faucet on the sink was very loose and about to break off and the light was flickering non-stop inside. This was disappointing. Broken Sand rinse. The sand rinse by the pool had a faux bamboo piece broken off on on of our first days of vacation. This piece lay next to the sand rinse for the rest of our trip and was never reattached. However, so much sand had blown up into this area, that using the sand rinse was a bit silly – since the next step you took was into 2 inches of sande. Bug Care. The bugs at Zoetry are terrible, they have been on every visit. However, this time instead of spraying the entire property three times daily, they sprayed only the center pathway once a day. We found and killed cockroaches four mornings in our room.

Wonderful overall! 10 Takeaways I wanted to Write About

What a wonderful getaway for me and my husband! We had read lots of reviews and were blown away by everything this resort offers. I'll try to fill in the gaps in the other reviews so I don't repeat much of what's already been said. 1) The website does a great job showing the overall look and feel of the resort. It's got that "Swiss Family Robinson meets the Ritz Carlton" kind of vibe. There is a Hyatt Inclusive app you can use to order room service or request more pillows. I didn't seen a way to ask for extra blankets, but I added it in the notes section and one arrived with my pillow. I wanted to say how impressed I was by the "menu" of pillows available to order from the app. 2) In choosing my room type, I wanted to mention the website was a challenge. Rooms and porches are VERY spacious and I loved that. I had wanted to see an image of the shower and didn't find one, so I attached one here. It's in the same area as the soaking tub and has a fixed piece of glass. You might call this a "wet room"-- European style where the shower is open to the bath. The toilet is in a separate closed room on the other end of the bathroom. It's vented to the outdoors so it helps to keep this toilet closet door shut to maximize your A/C system. 3) There was entertainment of some kind each night. You could also sign up to check out a sister resort and eat dinner/enjoy their entertainment if you desired something more lively. There were singers, piano players, acrobats and more. The acrobats were thrilling and you could tell they worked so hard. 4) People do claim loungers on the beach but we never had trouble getting one. Definitely remember to head over to the indoor hot tub and loungers there when it's raining. It's an amazing place to ride out a rainstorm. We went to the spa area each day and enjoyed a 1 hour couples massage on the first day. It wasn't as pricey as what was listed on the website, so don't let that deter you from a massage or other treatment. We only made a spa reservation ahead of time. 5) Dinner selections are great, very diverse. Each of the 3 restaurants flips its menu every other night so there are really 6 dinner menus to choose from overall. My only critique would be to offer less choices and make them all amazing. I'd rather see that than have so many choices that are just average. I don't know how the kitchen keeps it all straight, it's a LOT to juggle. I gave the food a 7 out of 10 overall. Dinner reservations are not necessary (maybe for a large group you can ask your concierge to make you some). Eat before 7:30 if you can. There were nights we saw people waiting for a table when they arrived later than that. You can eat outside or inside. We mostly ate inside at night because of the no-see-ums. 6) Skip packing a reusable water bottle. You'll be drinking water from cups at restaurants and bottles outside of restaurants. 7) Pack a snorkel & mask instead! You can snorkel right off the resort (walk down to the right for the best area). Don't really need flippers. The beach was clean in the area that the resort could control. The water was a bit rougher than expected and there was more wind than expected. We mostly snorkeled in the mornings due to the wind picking up later. There are large rocks with corals and urchins right of the beach, so be very careful if you swim without a mask. I would probably not bring my younger kids here to swim in the ocean due to these hazards. You could avoid them if you paid attention though. 8) Don't overlook these foods: -Sweets: the brownies, the chocolate croissants, the Tres Milks Cake at Piragua (on mexican menu), and the black forest cake. I'm a big chocolate lover and found most of the desserts were vanilla, whipped cream, or fruit focused. -Savories: anything with eggs on the breakfast menu. there's this locals sandwich at Indigo that is like a sausage/egg biscuit which was our fave. Their eggs were so free range, amazing quality. The ceviche, the pizza, Fusion's steak/shrimp entree, Fusion's Mushroom risotto, and the grilled salmon/capers entree from Indigo were all noteworthy. The mexcian menu and fusion menu were our 2 favorites (though we never got to try the Italian, we heard that was good too). 9) Pack some small bills for cash tips. All the employees are trying super hard to make sure you have an excellent stay. We had wonderful interactions with Nathalie, Natali, Leidy, Angel, Maria, Johanna, Alan, Luis, Gilberto, and Henry. There are plenty more who worked super hard that we can't recall their names. We took advantage of the aqua spin class and loved meeting Jason. He was tough! We also did yoga with Kinzie and she did a great job too. 10) The porches are amazing! Views in all directions. I might have gone with a top floor sofa bed style porch for next time (now that I know those DO come with a table and chairs for eating -- not shown on website). Be sure to walk to on the East side of the resort to see all the raised walkways. We would travel via that route when it was raining so that you can cross almost the whole resort in a covered walkway. Overall this resort is a bucket-list type of experience for a couple. Great choice for a honeymoon, couples trip. You can bring kids -- we saw several tweens/teens who seemed to be having a great time also.
