We booked a last minute 4-night trip to Sun Palace to escape the cold in the Midwest and had a great trip! Here are the pros and cons of this resort: Pros: 1. The hotel is recently renovated so the rooms are STUNNING and clean. Our housekeeper Ana kept our room sparkling clean all week and anything you need - extra sodas for your mini-fridge, lotions, aromatherapy, a toothbrush, more hangers - they will bring it to you. Every room at this resort has great ocean views and a balcony. 2. The restaurants at dinner are fantastic. We ate at the italian, steak, and thai restaurants and loved every meal and enjoyed the upgraded wine list. 3. We actually liked the all-inclusive buffets - at some resorts, the buffet is not good, here we liked it. Great food at both breakfast and lunch with lots of options. Eduardo served us breakfast and lunch at the buffet, and ask Edwin to make you a burger behind the counter, or fresh pancakes in the morning. He was so eager to make you *just* what you want, fresh to order! 4. Most of the restaurants have both indoor and outdoor seating with ocean views. We love eating outside so this was a big plus for us. It always surprises us how many resorts do not have ocean views from their restaurants. 5. It's on a really pretty stretch of beach, very clean, and the resort is all-adult so it's fairly relaxing. That said, it has both a "quiet" pool and a "fun" pool, and the fun pool was a blast in the afternoons. The entertainment staff around the pool were amazing! They really knew how to make it fun. But we also liked the quieter pool for some zen/relax time. Both pools have great views of the ocean which is steps away. There is also tons of great seating available on the beach. 6. It's a small resort. This is something we love - we don't like the "disney world" size resorts. This place is just the right size, with plenty to do but not overwhelming and not a mile walk in heels to dinner at night. That said, if you prefer a large resort with twelve restaurant options every night, this would not be the place for you - try the Moon Palace instead which is huge. 7. Great spa! 8. Fun shows at night, and a great lobby bar for pre- and post-dinner drinks and music. 9. Last but not least - the STAFF is what makes this resort so great. Everyone is kind and helpful and really trying to make your stay memorable. Samuel our concierge made all our dinner reservations and left fun treats (chocolate covered strawberries, etc) in our room for us; Moises served us an incredible lunch at Fuego; we also had dinner at Fuego with the wonderful Ignacio; Steven and Irma served us at the Thai restaurant and Ali helped us with a great wine recommendation; Ignacio recommended the most delicious gnocchi at Trattoria; and Karina served us espresso martinis before dinner in the lobby bar every night. At a small resort like this, you get to know the staff and they really try to make everyone feel special. I feel like that's part of what makes a resort like this stand out from some of the others where we've stayed. CONS: Literally the only thing we didn't love here was that there are not enough pool chairs, so it's crowded and hard to find a place to sit. They reserve chairs at the fun pool for their "Residence" members so all the best chairs were already taken/reserved every day no matter how early we went downstairs. We went down at 6:30 a.m. one morning to watch the sunrise and snag chairs at the fun pool, and all the seats at that entire pool were already taken for the day - even the chairs along the wall that aren't that close to the pool! That being said, the Pool Concierges (Ricardo and Danira) were amazing - they helped us find chairs every day, we just had to sit at the quiet pool more often than we'd hoped. I know the "pool chair" game is pretty common at resorts and they DID find us chairs every day. It was just bad timing that the resort was almost fully booked while we were there so probably more crowded than usual. Overall, super impressed with this resort and highly recommend for an all-adults trip. We'll definitely be back.

This was our 6th time at Sun Palace but we hadn't been back since 2019 due to Covid and health issues. It was so interesting to see all of the new changes, especially the updated bathrooms and the larger spa area. However, taking away all of the beach lounger area to create the larger Spa area, isn't great when the hotel is at close to 100% capacity. I agree with previous commenters where the activity pool loungers are difficult to come by when the resort is so full. It's also really frustrating that the front row of loungers is almost exclusively reserved for Residence members. Do I think they should have extra perks because they paid a lot into the membership? Absolutely. However, it left very few loungers left for everyone else. We got down to the loungers one day at 6:30 AM and every single lounger was taken. Another person we met got down there at 6 AM and said there were only 4 left (2 of which they took). I'm not sure what the fix is for this, because space is definitely limited, but it made for a frustrating day, checking to see if the residence members would even come down, before finally being "allowed' to take the loungers they never came down to (after 10AM). Besides that, we had a FANTASTIC week! The service is incredible, the wait staff and bartenders remember you. Have to give so much love and thanks to the amazing entertainment staff: Pedro, Jonathon, Alain, Roberto, Estefanie, and Alex - we played water volleyball 2x/day, and aquastrong yoga and beach volleyball a few times during the week. I even participated in the crazy games many days! They make for an inclusive, fun, exciting atmosphere and I really loved getting to know them and playing all the games! The gym is also beautiful! 5 or 6 spin bikes, 5 or 6 treadmills, lots of weight machines, but I used mostly kettlebells and free weights. Waitstaff at restaurants to be noted: Francisco at Thai, Armando at Italian, Enrique, Roman, Fresia, Francisco (chef) at Fuego Emilio (lunch), Eduardo (breakfast) at Aurora Breakfast Gabriel and Elisio at the snack bar Filemon at the pool during the day At night, I forgot to write down their names, but the bartenders at The Bar were also fantastic (we went 3/1-3/9)! Happy to experiment with drinks and happy to talk and make conversation! We went to two shows - the mentalist and ages of rock and both were really good! Overall, we come to sit at the pool, look at the beautiful surroundings, get some good food and drinks, and feel pampered. We got just that!! Can't wait for our next trip there!

The Sun Palace is a very nice, small and intimate resort. And yes very beautiful and clean. Great service and the staff: Pool staff at activity pool did a great job, and the nightly shows were very good as well. My fav Resturant was the Italian.

The Sun Palace Cancun is the top rated resort for many wonderful reasons. This review will be a long one, but very descriptive and informative. Here is why…. From the time we arrived at the airport pick up area- The Palace staff was on it! We had very little wait time for our transportation to arrive to pick us up. Upon upon arrival to the resort, we were met with a cool towel and a refreshing drink. Then our VIP concierge Greisy met us and took us to the fifth floor check-in area. She did a fabulous job. She was very attentive and considerate to some weary and hungry travelers. I want to extend much gratitude to her as she kept up with us throughout our 10 day stay she planned a lovely special anniversary dinner in the Aurora and then with decorations and champagne in our room - decorating with Rose petals a couple of times during our stay. Many thanks to Greisy for all of her special efforts.! Roberto was also excellent! He helped us plan our stay. He made sure we got the appointments we wanted and scheduled them for us. Or directed us to the correct person for scheduling. He just did splendid work for our entire stay ~many thanks to Roberto. Our room was a honeymoon suite with a large balcony. It was great for us. We love to be outside as much as we can. We are from the Midwest so we enjoy the sun, warm temperatures and the beautiful ocean sound. Housekeeping did a marvelous job as well . They worked hard at keeping our room clean and refreshed morning and evening. There were two weddings that happened during our stay. But the staff and property seem to handle the events very well. The occupancy of course, was quite high, but we didn’t have issues due to that. We were unable to participate in the chefs dinner because it was fully filled. The romantic dinner was canceled due to weather so we went on the travelers table excursion. That was a very interesting evening. We left the resort about 4 PM and returned about 10 PM. It was a Yucatán dining experience on the island out from Cancun -Isla Mujeres. A great time and a beautiful island for sure! We also did the wine tasting that was also a very fun evening. There were only six of us so it was very low-key and.just a really nice experience! And now for the spa ~ we had the romantic couples massage. And of course, we had the complementary back massages. I had more services they were the complementary manicure and pedicure. I also had the marine wrap. In the salon, I had a haircut and a deep conditioning treatment. I absolutely recommend all of these services! The restaurant options are very diverse, each one great in their own way. we had so much delicious food and attentive well taught servers. They are very informed about menu options. They are also very patient and helpful. Each experience was so sweet and fun to try things outside of our ordinary food. Room service was also a fantastic option for us. We had breakfast each morning out on our balcony. It was so great! We had our own special delivery girl - Ivet💕 Miss you & hugs!! One of the complaints that come through on many other reviews is about the pool chair problem. We did not experience that. Most of our days were spent on the beach. We didn’t experience a problem getting a spot on the beach. It was a little bit amusing each morning to see how early folks went out to secure their pool chairs or beach chairs😊. Just a note here though-if you were with a large group, it would probably be be a little frustrating sometimes~ A few last things…. The Sweet Shop —Great food options and easily accessed- The gift shop is also a lovely option for clothing items - The jewelry store is great too! There is a little store for essentials if needed with shirts and other items for gifts;etc. The entertainment is a nice option in the evening. Many different types of shows are available each week. We enjoy attending them. I highly encourage not missing David McGee. He is so amazing. Of course there is some later entertainment in the lobby bar. That is very good as well. It is usually a Music option. My husband and I had an amazing visit to Sun Palace. Staff were extremely attentive from bell men, front desk, wait staff while dining and at the pool. Our lounge server knew our drink after the 1st day and the event staff recognized us our 1st morning after attending 1 show. There was always someone wiping, dusting, sweeping, etc to ensure it was clean. Our room was great and the view even better. We look for to another Palace Resort stay in the near future!

It was so nice, clean and beautiful place to have a good dinner. I really enjoyed my Birthday Dinner. They surprise me with a birthday cake. That was nice. Francisco and Daniel thanks for serving me. They were so nice. I hope we see for the next trip.

Everything is very clean, service is great. 5 star resort. Restaurant Thai, with server Daniel and Francisco were phenomenal waiters. Food was fantastic and out promptly. Room Service is also impeccable and my trip is yet to be done. I do foresee coming back again

This place is amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and taken care of. The restaurant service was outstanding, and Fuego, with Chef Francisco, was hands-down the best dining experience at the resort. With four restaurants to choose from, Fuego stood out for its delicious flavors, attention to detail, and the passion you can taste in every dish. But what really made our trip special was the people. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were happy, comfortable, and truly enjoying ourselves. My wife and I had the best vacation, and after a week here, we were honestly sad to leave. Their service wasn’t just great—it was the highlight of our stay. A huge thank you to Javier, Sarai, Ingrid, Enrique, and our amazing evening host, Daniel, who made our last night extra special with an unforgettable dinner by Chef Francisco. We’ll never forget it! If you’re thinking about coming here—do it! You won’t regret it. We’re already dreaming about our next trip back!

We love the Sun Palace love having breakfast at Fuego restaurant. Every morning with Javier, our server so attentive and wonderful. The Thai restaurant was our favorite. Javier server was excellent as well. The food was amazing there from Palace has the best employee.

We came to Sun Palace after a week with family at Moon Palace Sunrise. Now time to party like an adult. We met a lot of wonderful people from all over. Stayed up late at night dancing. Shows were very good! The hotel is beautiful, service amazing. I need to mention some exceptional people; our Diamond pool concierge Dani and Ricky, diamond concierge Giselle, lifeguards Mariano and David, Arianna the server at Aurora and Sweet and Coffee, Juan with the best smile and service in Aurora, Estrella the server at Fuego, Adrian and Samantha at Trattoria, VIP bartenders Alfonso and Enrique, Karina a server at the Lobby Bar, and Jorge in maintenance. The activity staff was amazing. Really enjoyed Allen with 2 L's. We had an amazing week and can't wait to return.

Pools were great but not near enough chairs for anyone! Ocean was an unbelievable blue and pretty calm waves!

This was my fifth stay at the Sun Palace, and while I've always enjoyed my time here this was probably my least favorite stay. I think the member status here is so separated to the regular paying guests, you really feel like a second-class citizen. We were told only members get late check-out/or use of the spa before a later departure and were also pushed aside at the front desk line for someone with a higher bracelet. Totally unacceptable. I work in the travel industry, and I do stay at a ton of hotels that have timeshare pitches and perks, but this one is relentless. In my opinion, to be considered a higher end property you need the pool concierge to regulate the terrible towel saving game. We'd notice the pool chairs covered in towels at 6-7am, and then members gloating that they held 20+ seats at both pools because they can. So many would sit empty all day and no one would clear the one book sitting for five hours. The staff here is always lovely and overall, the food was good. Nothing knocked my socks off, but we did really enjoy Breakfast at the upstairs a la carte each morning. The Thai was probably our favorite dinner, great staff and tasty options. Reservations are annoying when checking in for a shorter stay, but we were able to show up earlier and get in. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Not super quiet, but overall, with a sound app, it's quiet. Our housekeeping was spot on, although I did use the app to request both cleaning and turn down daily. I find the app to request water refill is great. I'm not a huge drinker, but I do enjoy a decent glass of wine. Unfortunately, that won't be found here. The house wine is terrible to say the least, $2.99/bottle is not 4* resort wine. Get something drinkable! I will never understand how you can have Grey goose, Don Julio, Bombay, but total crap wine. There was a salsa band on our last night, and they were absolutely amazing. We closed the place down on our last night. I will say we are not show people, and enjoy the live music in the main bar, but with the exception of the piano player, rock band and Salsa band it just felt like bad karaoke. Shout out to the pool servers, they work so hard and took such great car of us with drinks and food each day. It was good for a shorter trip to Cancun for a friend's birthday, I just wish they'd come up with a better situation for the pool loungers. It really is a turnoff to this nice boutique hotel.

We have had a splendid experience at Sun Palace. All of the service staff was incredible especially Javier who provided us with such joy throughout our trip. We will be back! Thank you Palace Resorts for making our vacation memorable to celebrate my birthday!

Romantic songs by Mr. Valentin included English, Spanish, Italian, and Spanish favorites. It was nice that couples were also invited to dance!

And we need to give a special shout-out to Juan Guinto, our server at the Aurora restaurant. He has been a favorite of ours for many years and is always smiling! Great service disposition too!

If you are looking for a resort in Cancun, close to the airport, adult only, with great food, drinks, nice pools, with nice people : clients and staff, not too big and not too small, entertaining but still quiet enough : this is a really good one.

It’s a wonderful thing to be at a beautiful place like Sun Palace, but if it wasn’t for some exceptional staff members, the trip would not have been so amazing. I want to give a shout out to the following people for their exceptional service, kindness, and positive attitude: At Aurora restaurant Sandy and Jesus made our dinner extremely enjoyable. At the Fuego restaurant, Enrique, Renan and Chef Francisco served us an exceptional meal. They were very accommodating and their dedication to their job was obvious. A dinner would not be complete without wine. Both Sommeliers, Ali and Alejandra, were very knowledgeable and helped us find wonderful choices of wine for our meals. Danira (Danny) and Ricardo were our amazing pool concierge. They made sure our chairs were ready and our drinks were full. A pool wouldn’t be as much fun without entertainment. Roberto, Jonathan, and Pedro made sure that everyone was having a good time as they brought fun games and much laughter to the pool. We took a day trip to The Grand’s Unique Day Club and were blessed to have Karla. She made sure the day was perfect! A big thank you to Alejandro, at guest services, for assisting with a big question that took him a great deal of his time to help us with. His wonderful smile never wavered! Alphonso at the VIP Lounge was very masterful with our beverages and had such a great attitude. And last, but hardly least, is our wonderful Diamond Concierge Jose! He put together a fantastic week for my husband, myself, and the 2 couples we brought with us. I can’t wait to return to Sun Palace!
