Breathless Riviera Maya Review! We just returned from a stay at this resort and loved it! Here are our thoughts! Location & Accessibility This resort is in a prime location ~20 minutes from the airport, making transfers quick and easy. It’s also located on a national reef, offering stunning scenery and great snorkeling opportunities. The resort itself strikes the perfect balance—not too big, not too small—making it easy to navigate. The neighboring resort is an interesting sight to say the least so keep that in mind. Check-In & First Impressions Our arrival experience was smooth and welcoming. The Xhale Lounge was a nice touch, though it was a bit busy. Staff greeted us with cold towels and welcome drinks, took our bags, and were genuinely friendly. The lobby was beautifully designed and impeccably clean, setting the tone for a great stay. Accommodations We booked an Oceanfront room, which was definitely worth it. While you could hear music during the day, it wasn’t an issue at night. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The housekeeping staff was fantastic. Some highlights: - Double shower heads in the bathrooms were incredible. - Cool tech features such as an iPad for controls. - Automatic lights took a while to turn off, which was a bit annoying. - Balcony was large and had great views. - Beds were decent but not the most comfortable. Food & Beverage Dining options were solid, with a mix of à la carte and buffet-style meals. - 5 dinner restaurants: Average to slightly above average, with the Asian and Mexican options standing out. - Buffet (3 meals a day): Good variety and overall solid food. - Sit-down lunch option: A bit slow but above average in quality. - Pool/beachside lunch:Pizza was excellent, especially with Cesear! We ate the pizza almost daily! Burgers and other snacks were solid. - Bars: Some were better than others. Swim-up bars were busy, but the beachside bar (shoutout to Fernando!) was the best. - Alcohol quality: Standard for an all-inclusive; beer selection was good (Dos Equis, Coors Light, and, Tecate). - Café: Fantastic! Great coffee and ice cream, with amazing service from Danielle. - Room service: Reliable and good quality. Must get the quesadillas. Pools & Beach - Pools were clean and well-maintained. - Lounge chairs were tough to get, often reserved by 9 AM. I would advise to put down a towel as soon as you wake up! - Plenty of shaded areas on the beach. - Wait service was excellent at both the beach and pool. - Seaweed was an issue, but the resort worked hard to clean it daily. - Beach had rocky areas. - Sand was beautiful although beach is quite small. - Special mention to Alfredo, an amazing pool concierge! Entertainment & Activities - Daytime activities were fantastic, the party pool had DJs and daily shows, making it a lively scene. - The Energy Pool was a highlight, offering activities such as blackjack, cornhole, trivia, and salsa dancing. - Evening entertainment was great with fun shows, a silent disco, and a rowdy nightclub later in the night. - Ivan from the Energy Team was amazing! Service & Staff Service was top-tier across the board. Every staff member went above and beyond. Some standout names besides the ones listed above: - America (Xhale Lounge Concierge): Extremely helpful. - Gabriella (Sports Bar):Fantastic service. - Luis (Front Desk): Super friendly. - Paulo (Bellhop): Absolutely amazing! Spa & Wellness - Hydrotherapy session (included with Xhale level) was fantastic. - Spa services were overpriced, so we opted for beach massages instead, which were much more affordable and still great. I would highly recommend the beach massage! - The gym was excellent, with high-quality equipment. - Relaxation level: Pools and beaches always had music, so it wasn’t the quietest environment. The Secrets side was slightly more relaxed. Value for Money Overall, this resort was well worth the price for the quality of experience. However: they try to upsell you on bottle service and special chairs. Xhale Level perks were limited, mainly including the view, breakfast at a restaurant, hydrotherapy session, a beach bag, and a free bottle. Overall Experience & Recommendation We loved this resort so much that we added another day to our stay! It’s best suited for couples looking for a mix of fun and relaxation—not many singles when we were there, and the crowd was mostly younger to mid-aged adults. Would we return? Absolutely! Overall rating: 8.5/10 If you have any questions, I am a travel agent and would love to answer any questions you have or help you book your next stay! taylor.gray@fora.travel

Beautiful room. Poor beach, unswimable ocean due to seaweed. And NOT ENOUGH POOL CHAIRS. Bit of a party atmosphere.
Beautiful rooms. Poor beach and only early risers get pool chairs. Great staff.!! It’s a bit of a party place but not crazy and is quiet for sleeping. Food is good but not fantastic. Not a lot of seafood which is disappointing ( unless you count shrimp not much else)....
Beautiful rooms. Poor beach and only early risers get pool chairs. Great staff.!! It’s a bit of a party place but not crazy and is quiet for sleeping. Food is good but not fantastic. Not a lot of seafood which is disappointing ( unless you count shrimp not much else). Other weird thing is dress code for some restaurants was long pants for men which was not enforced - nice shorts are fine. So why not make it the dress code. but we did see people wearing bathing suits in restaurants at dinner. Again dress code not enforced. Nice warm pools and hot tubs that are actually hotter than the pool. Worst problem Is that if you’re not out by 7 am there are no chairs available. People hold them before 7 and then don’t use them until the afternoon. Staff don’t do anything about it. Though what are they supposed to do without a policy from management. Staff are very attentive and helpful around the pool. Also secrets guests come to the pools but breathless guests can’t go to secrets. That could be part of the problem. We’ve been to many resorts and this is definitely one of the worst I’ve seen. Get some more chairs and have a rule and enforce it. If chairs aren’t in use for a few hours remove people stuff. The beach is disappointing. It is small and only goes for the span of the resort. Ie you can’t walk either left or right for any distance. Unfortunately there is so much seaweed that it is unswimmable. So this is the place for you if you don’t care about swimming in the ocean and like to get up before 7 every day to get chair at the pool.

Nothing is ever perfect but Breathless Riviera Cancun did everything with 100% effort. My favorite part was getting served drinks by bartender Margarito. He quickly learned our names and he had a fun personality. Everyone kept drinks in their hands and the pool entertainment kept us on our feet.

Just got home from a stay at Breathless Riviera. My husband and I were there for our anniversary and Stayed in a Xhale club swim out room. Loved the perks of the xhale club from the premium liquor and food options all day. America was wonderful, attentive and accommodating she really made sure we got everything we needed to make our stay wonderful. The resort is absolutely gorgeous and the entertainment and activities were great. Sip and paint, hydrotherapy, and dinner on the beach were the highlights of our stay. Charlie Boy took care of us on the beach bringing us drinks and food while we just relaxed. Top notch services and accommodations! Only negatives were swim out was too cold to get in, beach is too rocky to enjoy and free chairs at the energy pool were impossible to find.

When reviewing a property, I highlight its strengths and areas for improvement.t **The Strengths** Lidia, the bartender at the Exhale Club, is fantastic. It's a tiny bar, but she politely accommodated all requests. Luna from UVC was very accommodating and genuinely cared about the members. Alan at the pool bar is terrific. He does a great job dealing with a large crowd and remembers your drink! The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The housekeepers did an excellent job. The food, for the most part, was good. The offerings at the French restaurant were delicious and probably our favorite. The staff was attentive and excellent, and the breakfast buffet had a great selection. The woman making omelets was phenomenal. **Needs Improvement:** The beach was disappointing—don’t be fooled by the pictures. While staff tried to clean up the seaweed, their efforts were ultimately futile. Moving the seaweed from one area to another only worsened the smell. I wasn’t sure why they were making a seaweed wall directly in front of the chairs. Additionally, the chairs along the beach were in poor condition, with many missing armrests. The music played at the pool between 1:00 and 5:00 PM was loud and obnoxious, competing with the other pool. Sitting on the beach, you could hear both. It was also frustrating that the pool staff prioritized guests from Secrets, the attached resort, encroaching on the limited space and enjoyment of Breathless guests who had been sitting by the pool for hours. Multiple chairs were added for Secrets guests that clearly did not fit. Secrets also has limited restaurants, so they share with Breathless. There is certainly not enough staff and restaurants to accommodate both resorts. If Secrets can have a quieter pool and crowd, Breathless should be allowed to go over there, too!

Pros: The staff were kind and always said "whatever you need" The hotel / Room was beautiful and relatively clean The PUBLIC pools were AMAZING Cons: - Staff never seemed to have answers or solutions to problems. Just a "it is what it is attitude" - The amount of selling they try to do the second you step onto the property is absurd. - The welcome drink they just hand you with no explanation of what it is, is infused with lavender for some reason, which I am allergic to and drank without knowing there was LAVENDER in it... never heard of that; maybe it's my uncultured a*s but no other drinks had lavender for the rest of the trip so... Welcome here is an unexpected medical emergency. Oh and when I mentioned it he went "oh they didn't tell you um... do you need medical attention?" and then just kind of let it go. - I got violently ill after day two from either the food or the water. I try to stick to only drinking bottled water from home but apparently something didn't sit well with me. I was in agony for 6 hours and then couldn't eat right the rest of the trip - The lights in the room are just confusing. There are lights we literally could not get to turn off at night. - ALL the toilet paper is scented!? Which... is like not good for you and can cause allergic reactions... What am I supposed to do... use a leaf? - The beach is TINY, filled with people off resort trying to sell you stuff, and "swim at your own risk" quality. (it literally says that) - And my BIGGEST complaint was the swim up room. (personal grievance) What a WASTE. We paid the pretty hefty upgrade price for the swim out room because I love them. Ours was unusable the entire time. It was warmer than the hot tub and disgusting. I spent maybe 15 minutes in it total; of which, I spent my time cleaning it (or at least trying to) instead of swimming before just giving up. Ours was the only one in the row that had a swirling layer of scum along the top with clumps of hair, sticks, leaves pollen, dead bugs (like alot of dead bugs...), and other such items. You could not step into the pool anywhere from our room without wading through it. We called three times to have it cleaned and complained twice. Every time we went to swim again the top was still as dirty and you could not move more than two feet without kicking up even more debree, bugs, and hair clumps to the surface. I get it. This stuff is going to fall into the pool over time and I get that the water is probably flowing down towards the end (our room) but why are we the only ones who didn't get to enjoy a clean pool...? I even attempted to stick it out I used a solo cup from the bar and just tried my best to skim the top and get a bunch of it out but after 15 minutes of cleaning and turning around just to find more; I gave up. So many dead flies in it! Never did get it cleaned enough to swim in while we were there.

Went with my wife and we've tried a few of the UVC resorts in Cancun over the years but this is our favorite one. The resort had a nice open, airy vibe, the clientele is between 21 - 50 so on the younger side and it has an upbeat and lively energy to it. The food was delicious and service was spectacular. Our favorite restaurant was Coquette, the French one. We went back twice and Mauricio was our waiter. He was outstanding and made us feel like family. He was welcoming, knowledgeable and made our dining experience exceptional. The pools are packed and it's true, it's very hard to find a chair anytime after 9am but people are friendly and we always found a place to sit. We can't wait to come back!

Samuel, Polo and Carlos at the Breathless poolside were absolutely AMAZING and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of the entire stay. One of our best vacation experiences! Highly recommend Secrets/Breathless for a couples getaway!
This resort is really luxurious and beautiful. However, people saving pool chairs is very out of hand. After 9:00am there’s not one vacant chair in sight. The staff does not adhere to the 30 minute policy for absence at the chair. It caused a lot of frustration on my part.
The staff were so amazing and ensured we had a phenomenal time. Gabriela and Andres took the time to make us feel special. We were so appreciative of them! We didn't get everything we should have for the package we had and our room was a bit musty, but the...
