I stayed away from Cancun for years on purpose believing it was not a safe place. Went back and stayed at Margaritaville and I have to say the resort was fantastic, the spa is world class, food options and bar choices are plentiful. We rented a car and went on many excursions from shopping to sailing and a day trip to Playa Del Carmen. Very memorable trip, we will definitely be back to Riviera Maya

We absolutely have loved our stay here! Tbh…I was apprehensive after I read a few comments about how ‘boring’ this resort is, and sad to find out there was no beach. but let me tell u, it’s not boring at all and the pools make up for the beach! There’s lots do do, and is lively without being ‘too much’! The shows at the boathouse are amazing… make sure u catch them! The entertainment is top notch! We loved playing pool and karaoke at the landshark, the pools were super fun - the landshark is def the night hotspot. special shout out to the foam party that never ended, water aerobics was a blast! The dj’s and emcees are great! They made our days soooo much fun! And the foam party was the best of any I’ve ever been to! Sooo much foam! And it was over an hour! The music, the dancing and the beach balls… definitely a highlight! The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, the grounds are pristine. The resort is just this little hidden gem and with everyone here, u just feel like this little community. People call this a small resort, but I think it’s the perfect size! Not huge, not too small. Always something to do! The main (party pool) always has something going on. We really loved the violinist! (He played along to modern music and it was unbelievable!) The staff really make this place special! Everyone is so kind and happy… genuinely happy! They have a great time with one another while making sure you have a great time! They are excellent! I don’t think I pulled out one chair at any of the restaurants as there was always someone watching waiting to help! Erick at the boat house made all of our visits there amazing! He is very efficient, friendly, funny and seems to come out of nowhere whenever I even thought I might need him! Just fantastic!!!watch him for 5 minutes, and u can see how hard he works but somehow manages to make all his guests feel special! Marcelo is also great. We loved the steakhouse too (JWB). The food is on point … great variety, it was delish! I wish the varied the buffet more for breakfast and lunch from day to day, but honestly there is a large selection and it all tasted great! Every dinner was a different theme on every night… so that was awesome! Mexican night was our favourite! 😋 Wish they had a full time Mexican restaurant. Only 2 small complaints which isn’t even really complaints but small inconveniences. 1) was that we came while the resort was sold out and finding seating around the pools was difficult. Even waking up at 6am, most good spots are reserved already. Trying to find any spot after 9am, is unlikely. But honestly, not the worst thing that can happen. It just forces us to get up earlier and enjoy more day in paradise! 2) We also wish it was more walkable. We like to explore. The walk from the resort itself to the main gates is far, on a one way dirt road. No golf carts to the gate. If you want to go anywhere u will need to get transportation. We did head into puerto Morelos easily with an uber, which was about 10-15 mins away. That’s also recommended for their beach and markets :) Honestly, I think we’ve found our go to spot. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We will be back!

Pool Waiter, Sergio was excellent. He has a great personality. We enjoyed him very much! Also we really appreciated Luis at the Salted Rim! We really enjoyed the great service we had and looked forward to seeing him in the evening. The atmosphere was fantastic and the drinks are amazing!!

A lovely hotel but I wouldn't stay longer than a week. It was for my honeymoon. My travel agent contacted the hotel and they said they would make it special. The front desk didn't do anything or even acknowledge that it is for our honeymoon. When I contacted the front desk about our room ( things weren't working) and how other people had banners on their doors.. she said that's the room I paid for and she can put a banner on now. It's not what I expected and definitely didn't want her to make my room special after I've told her.. that wouldn't be a surprise! I was also unwell and told the front desk that I have had a rough time. There wasn't any concern. I asked them how much it was for the sauna due to feeling unwell. They didn't discount it for us or let us use it for free after our honeymoon suprise disaster. I think the staff could have gone out of their way to fix their own mistake but they didn't. We left feeling disappointed! Food : The food on the menus were the same everyday. I'm a vegetarian so the options were limited. My husband was bored of the food and we were shocked at how bland the food actually was. The pizza in the Italian restaurant was shocking. They have an oriental night once a week. The first week I noticed that they only had rice that was vegetarian. I told the front desk and they said they would improve it. The next week, it was the same. I asked the chef to make me the same noodles but without meat. It ended up being plain spaghetti with veg (the chef tried 2x) The dessert was amazing but could have done with some ice cream stalls. We ended up eating out of the resort because we were fed up. The breakfast was a buffet that was also the same everyday. Food = 5/10 Dessert= 10/10 Room: very clean and the cleaners are amazing. Only thing I didn't like was the size of the toilet and shower. The cupboards were very small. There wasn't any DRAWS. I ended up living out of my suitcase for 11 days!!! The coffee machine didn't work. They ended up being 2 and they didn't work. I asked for a normal kettle because I was fed up! Room 6/10 Entertainment: Very good on the evenings but the chocolate making was boring. I thought we were making it but we ended up watching. The beach is beautiful. Don't expect to sit on the beautiful beds because you have to be a member! TUI did not have this information on their website when I booked. If you want to use them you have to pay! Entertainment 6/10 General staff: Amazing. The staff are the best thing about the hotel! Especially, the lasy who works on the restaurant table. Staff 9/10 Location: Good if you want to stay in the hotel but I wouldn't recommend if you wanted to go to 5th Avenue and CoCo bongo. I went to Coco bongo (45mins) and didn't drink alcohol due to the long journey back. The road back to the hotel is VERY BUMPY and I would have been sick! Location 5/5 (depends what you want) If you're expecting a partyish hotel book a different hotel. This hotel caters for 40- 60 year old Americans. I was very bored. They had a foam party with a mexican band playing the guitar.. it wasn't the vibe that I wanted. Would I stay again... NO

This resort is amazing. It is so clean and comfortable with amenities that are designed to fit a variety of people's desires. There are quiet pool side areas or fun adventures at the big pool with music and games. There is no beach access however, but that did not take away from our experience. The rooms, pillows and beds are immaculate and serviced by friendly workers. There is a variety of eating options, all with great food. We were especially helped by our butlers Isaac Chan and Frita Flores. They were so helpful and caring about our stay at the resort. Every question or concern was always answered with prompt action and a smile. Our pool butler, Ismerai, was also amazing. She knew our names when we first met on day one and provided the personal service that is so welcoming. All of the staff at this resort are to be commended for their hard work and service to the visitors.

Overall a great experience. The name says it all, you’ll be greeted with a cold margarita upon arrival as familiar Jimmy Buffett island tunes play in the distance. The warm breeze blows through the open grass roofed huts and that salt air it ain’t thin, it’ll stick right to your skin and make you feel fine. The ground are extremely well kept, palm trees litter the property with excellently placed ambient light, honestly the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff-it’s clear they are prideful in giving you best experience as possible, they embrace the idea of escapism that the brand has built itself upon. Jairo was an island ambassador-he’s was great and answered all our questions they even give a resort tour upon arrival. Erick and Jorge in both frank and Lola’s and Latino gave us a fine dining experience. Silvia and Patricia gave incredible massages in the st.somewhere spa. Staff was great. Food and drink it’s evident that jimmy inspired the menu. From street style tacos to the beach house, there is literally everything you could want. The staff also makes every effort to be aware of food allergies. You won’t find IPAs here but a strong representation of mexicos lagers. There is also top shelf options available. Once again, the name lives up to itself. It’s 100 percent 5 o’clock somewhere. The beach is small, yes you’ll see some seaweed but if that bothers you, that on you. This resort definitely is calling the parrot heads (fans of buffett) honestly I can’t say anything negative. Overall a wonderful time had, tip the wait staff, drink a beer. I don’t want to spoil but it but beautiful resort. Fins up

We had an absolutely amazing week at Margaritaville, Playa Maya, from the moment we arrived. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The hotel itself is stunning with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere but it was all the staff that truly made this Holiday unforgettable, a special thank you to Heriberto at Rita‘s tacos who took exceptional care of us every day his attentiveness and friendly and manner made every meal a delight and we really appreciated how he made us feel so welcome. The entire staff at Ritas tacos were fantastic always friendly , quick and with a smile on their faces the food was a delight as well. The bar staff also deserve a shout out. They kept his hydrated throughout the day always making sure we had a refreshing drink in hand. We also want to say a thank you to Manuel from the main restaurant who provided outstanding service and went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed, Overall we had a perfect stay and would definitely return. We visit Cancun twice a year for years. We own at the Royal Sands and love it. We wanted to try something new for a change and picked Margaritaville Cancun. We loved the smaller boutique atmosphere of this resort. The dining options are few (4) but enough for a weeks stay. Quality of food is very good. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Since the resort is rather small, it is easy to get around. We had no trouble getting chairs by the pools or beach. Towels are available at each pool but run out quick. Please refill towels quicker. Bars were never really busy and easy to refill. Beach is eroding but still fine for the resort guests. They rake the seaweed twice a day! We will return! Jerry The K

Our stay here was absolutely incredible! The Boathouse crew went above and beyond, making every moment special. Mexican night was a highlight—the tacos were to die for, and the show was breathtaking. Jaime made our dinners feel extraordinary, and Carlos provided attentive, top-tier service. The unlimited drinks were a fantastic perk, and we made good use of the room service as well. While there’s no beach, the pools were more than enough to enjoy a relaxing time. We also took a day to explore the Mayan ruins and swim in a cenote—an absolutely mind-blowing experience. To top it off, the spa was a must-visit, and the hydrotherapy treatment was unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Overall, we had an amazing time, and next time, we’ll be bringing extra cash to tip even more for the outstanding service. Can’t wait to come back!

We returned for a 4-night stay at Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun for our 6th stay in 4 years! While on the smaller side, it is a beautiful resort. Upon arriving at the resort, we recognized our bellman, Rafael, from prior visits. We visited the spa for 50-minute massages on the beach. We love Reyna and Ana! We had amazing gourmet meals during our stay! Besides the food, highlights of our meals were also the impressive staff at Frank n Lola’s (Miguel and Jorge), Latino (Alando and Erick) and the Beach House (Antonio). Be sure to stop by the Compass Bar and have Manual make you a special drink like a smoked old fashioned or a special tequila cocktail! His ‘friend’ Pacho (a coati) might even visit from atop of the wall. Or find our favorite bartender Shirley at one of the bars to make you a great spicy margarita. Room service is great as they deliver quickly and it’s always delicious. Edwin is our favorite! Wednesday night the Cherry Lovers Band played at the 5 O’clock Somewhere Bar which is always a great time! We love it when they play Enter Sandman (Metallica) for us! Looking forward to returning with our daughter and grandson is a couple months!

This resort is by far, our favorite. The small size, along with the entire staff make it a hidden gem. There was not a single time that we were not greeted by a staff member. The facility is well kept and clean-our swim up room was amazing, Our housekeeper, Olga, kept our room spotless. There are a few activities, so if you are looking for a full schedule of them, you may be bored-we were not-we came to relax and this place delivered. Chairs by the pools and beach were always available-so no need to "reserve" them at the crack of dawn as we have seen many times on previous trips. Our entire group made a special friend -the swim up bartender - Ernesto-he is an asset to the resort-a great man! The food was very tasty-if you can't find something you like-you are a very picky eater-had a couple of self professed foodies in our group and they said all was wonderful. This resort was by far, our favorite of over 20 years of going to resorts and cruises. We will return-please don't change a thing!

The staff at the Salted Rim gave us amazing service! Luis, the waiter is so friendly and pleasant. Gibron, Angel, Alain and Victor are also great and put on a really good show! It was very entertaining and added something a little extra to the place.

Let’s talk about the food first: **The Food!!!** - Breakfast: Every morning, I indulged in the delightful omelet. I didn't get the pleasure of getting the wonderful lady name behind the omelet station, but she was so nice and joyful, as was the lady who greeted and seated us at the front entrance of the Beach House for breakfast. - The Italian Restaurant: Absolutely delicious! My husband and I tried the carbonara, lasagna, fried calamari, Caprese salad, minestrone soup, leek soup, meatballs, and arancini balls during our stay. - The Latino Restaurant: Delicious as well. We got to try the tempura crunch roll, sweetly roll, stone-grilled shrimp and mahi-mahi, pisco ribs—chef’s kiss! - Rita's Tacos: OMG! The black bean dip with chips and a variety of salsa to try, the tacos were so good! My favorite was the Baja California taco, as well as the Yucatán, Michoacán, and tamal taco. **Special Shoutout to the Staff!** I had the pleasure of interacting with Reuben, Emilio, Heriberto, Luis, and George at Rita’s Tacos and the Beach House. These gentlemen always had smiles on their faces and were ready to chat about our day. By the end of our stay, we were giving hugs, not ready to say goodbye. - Rosie at Joe Merchant and Karla at the front desk were so kind. I loved getting to know Rosie; she is a pleasure to be around. - At the Italian restaurant, Carlos and Mario took care of us! Carlos had funny jokes that made my day, and Mario was a gem to be around. - Alberto, our excellent butler, always greeted us at the Bali beds on the beach and helped us plan our day. He made sure we were enjoying our time at the resort. **S.O.S Swim-Up Bar:** Erienesto was an excellent bartender. We really enjoyed the back swim up bar as it was bigger and not as windy. We met many great people at the swim-up bar. **Housekeeping and Grounds Keepers:** A round of applause for the housekeeping staff, groundskeepers, and everyone behind the scenes. Without you, the resort wouldn't be as beautiful and enjoyable to stay at! **Yoga Session with Landy:** I enjoyed an amazing yoga session with Landy at the S.O.S Bar. Her guidance and encouragement turned the practice into a truly inspiring experience, helping me connect with my inner peace. **Painting Class with Tania:** At the Blenda Health Bar, I took a painting class with the talented Tania. Her patience and extensive knowledge on painting helped me create a stunning piece of art that I am incredibly proud of. Thank you to everyone at Margaritaville for giving my husband and me the best experience and the most enjoyable vacation! Great week meeting new friends in this smaller resort. Beach was great, clean, with a nice calm sandy walk-in. Many themed nights for entertainment, live bands, DJ, karaoke, and trivia. Some mornings had a guitar player for breakfast. We got Rita’s Tacos almost everyday for lunch, try the chicken caesar salad! So many great tacos! This resort gets quiet pretty early, but we made many friends and kept the conversations going at the Compass Bar. Where ‘Manny’ serves up the best concoctions. Say hi to Pedro!! Some shout outs to some awesome resort friends for making the week great: Alex and Colin(Alex :) ) from the entertainment crew, so many laughs! The beach house, get to know Manuel, he is awesome. He helped us meet our new besties from Manitoba on Mexican night. Erik at the Latin restaurant was so attentive and made our dinner a special night. Majo, made sure our trip was going as planned and ensured we got the most from our stay, hola MJ ;) Esmeralda from house keeping, always kept our room clean and full of water. The SOS bar crew, kept our late swim up drinks full. So many great people but can’t remember all the names!

Second time visiting this resort. Excellent trip with Friends! Margaritaville is wonderful. It's a small, clean and very functional resort. Every single worker was pleasant, helpful and friendly. Grounds were gorgeous and maintained. Pools and Beach were perfect and comfortable. Other guests were friendly and enjoyable. Beach dinners were fabulous as so were the restaurants! Rita's Tacos 🌮 were the best everyday for lunch. Made some wonderful memories and will be back. Thank you for a relaxing week in paradise!

Awesome beach and great staff! I can’t express how wonderful the staff are, Shirley the beach butler, Antonio and Luis at breakfast and Miguel and Cesar at dinner. Oh and Rita’s for lunch, the nacho tower is great! I really wish the Joe Merchant shop for getting things with points was better, not much selection and should have more things available for people besides getting beer, more snacks and drinks should be available. It seemed kinda unimpressive and should be something fun for people to go to. Besides the lack of “things” at the store everything was great. Would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a very laid back holiday.

We just returned yesterday from a 7 day vacation, we did have a wonderful vacation. We met many wonderful people from all over the US, Canada, UK, this is definitely one of the best reasons there is! There are some negatives about this hotel as well as positives as in most places we have stayed. The hotel is really pretty, the employees top notched, it is kept immaculate. It is smaller which was kind of nice too. First of all, no beach! The hotel has a sign where the steps leading to the ocean saying they are working on this with the government, however, doesn’t state when or how long this will take. You could go to Isle Mujares for a beach, however you will pay $35 each way for a taxi or $10 Uber and pay to use the beach area for chairs and towels and food. When I am paying for an all inclusive vacation, this is a big negative! I expect a beach! The rooms are damp as you’d expect with a tropical climate, DampRid did help with that, as well as not keeping your sliding door open. There are only two restaurants open for dinner…(nicer restaurants), however you need reservations. We arrived Saturday afternoon and were offered 8:30 or 9:30 reservations. We did get a 7 PM reservation one evening! Frank and Lola’s, Italian food and pizza, the food was good but not absolutely the best I’ve eaten for sure. We heard that the pizza was delicious but didn’t get to try the pizza, during our stay. We were only able to get reservations for one evening. We were never told by the personnel at the restaurant that we could sit and have pizza at the counter, had we known we would have enjoyed doing so! Others have stated to show up and they will seat you, we tried that twice and we were turned away! We offered a tip to try to get in and still no! Again, a great time to offer the pizza at the counter. The other restaurant is the JWB Steakhouse, this restaurant was very good. Our Concierge was able to get us two separate reservations there, one was for our Anniversary. And from my understanding from others, they were accommodating to walk ups. The Salted Rim…excellent! The bartenders are great! On Tuesday evening the Italian is closed, the buffet was having an Asian inspired dinner outside at the tables that are there, nothing indoors. Since the indoors was closed, needing reservations at the italian and Steakhouse, you only had one more option to eat at the Landshark Bar and Grill. The food here is excellent, the hottest food served actually! However, if you ate there for lunch, it was the same menu. They had a decent selection, however it was the handheld food offerings at best. You actually had more eating options at lunch time with License to Chill Bar, food was taco styled and was very good, the Boathouse buffet, Landshark and most days a set up poolside with either Tacos or burgers. Breakfast was at the Boathouse buffet….food was definitely not even warm. Dinner wasn’t any better unless you had something prepared at the grill. We had some wonderful service from our Concierge, Abel. At the Boathouse for dinner Juan was great, very personable! Daniel at the SOS pool bar was a lot of fun! We didn’t normally sit at the main pool, but would walk over to see the goings on! Mostly a little younger crowd and they were having a blast, because by afternoon the pool water was a little green! The loungers! Ugh! The towel game for sure is real! All of the beds are reserved with towels before 7 as are many of the lounge chairs, another reason we didn’t go to the main pool, nothing available. We joined the game out of self defense, however we tried to be respectful to others. We’d put towels on two chairs by the SOS bar by 7:20. We’d go eat breakfast and would return by 8AM. We witnessed other towel reserved chairs empty prior to 7:20 and no one would appear until after 10 AM would stop to drop their bags and go eat breakfast returning after 11. On Friday there was a lounger bed and six chairs towel reserved from before 7 AM and no one showed up until after two! To me not only rude, but entitled! We all paid to have a vacation. There is signage but no one obviously reads it because it’s certainly not meant for them! We spoke to management and their response was that they know there is a problem, however they don’t want their guests upset because they won’t return to the resort! I said, what about those like us who won’t return because there are no consequences? He shrugged. We suggested, if the chair is not occupied after one hour have security remove the items. Once or twice this happens I’m sure word will get around and the four hour empty chairs. The entertainment in the evening at Landshark was pretty good, on Sunday there was a duo playing and they were fantastic! The country band on Friday was really good too! We enjoyed our time, however, I don’t think we’d go back with no beach to walk, and evening restaurant choice being slim with hard to get a decent hour reservation.

We are Prestige Members and would highly recommend you reach out to Gabrielle, Concierge (an excellent problem solver) at the Margaritaville for Adults. This soft spoken young man, greeted us with a welcoming approach to two people who arrived were very angry that the shuttle bus was a no show at the airport. Gabrielle, listened carefully, asked questions and indicated he would follow up. Our first night, wasn’t the best with adults not behaving well into the night. While our the second night was better, the third night lead us back to Gabrielle, asking this time to move to a quieter spot. We were given two room choices, one similar to our room which had direct access to the pool and another which had a water stream on the 4th floor. We chose the latter, and the location with ocean views has made for restful evenings. Gabrielle also booked and rebooked restaurants to meet our preferences and finally, reimbursed us for the taxi fare as a result of the no-show shuttle bus. This is all to same, problems will arise at any resort, what makes the resort stand out from others is its people; Gabrielle is one of those people!! Gracias the Canadians

When we arrived we were told the ocean front room I reserved was not available, I was initially very upset but the resort made efforts to make it right and the room we were give. still had a view of the ocean from the balcony. My spa experience with Yolanda was amazing. I can’t say enough about how wonderful the service was and how friendly the staff (Dominique) is within the spa. Emanuel at the Compass bar goes above and beyond and makes the most amazing drinks. Theresa in concierge went above and beyond at arrival and throughout our stay. This was our third trip here and we will for sure be back. The food at Latino is amazing as well as Rita’s. The resort is well maintained, smaller but I love that. Only issue is the all day chair hogs that reserve chairs, never sit in them, and take up space for others. We were at the pool one day for 3 hours and people never came to the chairs even once.

This is my second trip to this hotel and husbands first. We absolutely loved it here. We had a fantastic room with a sea view, and beds were comfy. I’ve really enjoyed both holidays I’ve had here. It’s a small, quiet resort which was amazing for us as we really just needed some good R&R. And the beach is beautiful and literally 3 steps to the beach from the pool. It’s also kept very clean which is a bonus and the staff work very hard. They do a great job. Areas of improvement- there is absolutely no consistency in the food/ drinks you get. It actually became a bit of fun for us to guess what glass we’d be getting/ what would be in our drinks and in what way our food would be presented. The hotel is starting to look a bit tired, lots of chipped mugs/ cups. If i were coming back to mexico again i would definitely stay here, it’s small, intimate and just good fun all round. We spent Monday April 21st 2025 through Friday April 25th 2025 at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cancun. The resort is on the smaller side which we actually enjoyed, a short walk and you're where you want to be. We stayed in room 209 which had a partial ocean view and overlooked the main pool. The rooms and the resort are in very good condition. Everything was very clean. The furniture and paint were in excellent condition in our room, and around the resort. We found the food to be very good for an all-inclusive. The Italian restaurant, Frank and Lola's was the standout. Not to mention the great service from Javier! The Landshark brewery also had really good food, but was more bar-fare. The Five O'clock Somewhere Bar at the main pool kept us in tasty drinks while we were enjoying the pool activities. Beer was cold and the mixed drinks tasted normal. Plenty strong but they weren't trying to kill you. After dinner, we loved to go to the Salted Rim Bar on the third floor, sit outside and overlook the resort. Their chocolate martinis and specialty drinks were a hit! Service around the resort was very good. Staff were attentive, courteous, and seemed to sincerely care that you were enjoying your stay. The Wi-fi worked well, we were even able to stream some hockey games on our laptop because they weren't on local channels. If you're picking negatives, this resort has no beach, and the sargassum seaweed is pretty bad, stinks if you go down to the ocean. Also the outside bars shut down at 7pm. Overall we had a great time and would go back again or recommend it as long as no beach isn't a deal killer for you. Great value for money in my opinion.

This is where you will be disappointed: 1. The hotel management and reception don't understand what customer satisfaction is, we had a complaint about our room, They offered some compensation but all they cared about is that we will sign a waiver instead of trying to make us happy. 2. Food - the breakfast is like a continental European breakfast + omelette. The selection is very limited, restaurants are good but for people with some dietary requirements again there is no much selection. 3. Food and beverage - although bars are good if you want to have snacks and alcohol in your fridge you are limited, you get a bracelet with limited amount of points and you need to "buy" it with your points 4. Rooms - rooms are nice but the hotel is built in a way that if you are not by the beach/pools you have a lot to walk and your view will be the backyard of the hotel In summary - we will not go back to this hotel again

Just got back from spending 5 days here and we had an excellent time. This was our second visit with couple friends and we loved seeing some familiar faces at our favourite bars including Jose Luis and the license to chill bar at the adult pool and Manuel at the compass bar with his amazing cocktails, must try his Appletini and old fashioned, we looked forward the visiting him every evening for hours. We booked the standard room and were placed in the banana wind building with an incredible view from the second floor. It was close to everything we wanted this year. Food was great as usual, Rita tacos were amazing and the Al a Carts were great as well. Lots of seafood, shrimp, great pasta and beef. The beach was nice, good amount of chairs available, lots of activities like paddle boarding, volleyball, and snorkeling. Checkin was easy, we were lucky our room was ready when we arrived on an early morning flight. All in all it was another great visit to Margaritaville riviera cancun and we will be back but are also interested in trying out the adults only just to see what it’s like.

SCAM ALERT – Do NOT Trust Prestige Travelers! If I could give zero stars, I would. Prestige Travelers is one of the most dishonest and predatory companies I’ve ever dealt with. I signed a contract and paid over $5,500, only to receive nothing in return—not even a functioning account. When I tried to cancel within the legal 5-business-day window (as outlined in their own contract), they stalled, delayed, and sent vague forms full of legal traps. After I disputed the charges through Chase Bank, Prestige had the audacity to demand that I withdraw the dispute before they’d issue a refund—a tactic my bank flagged as highly suspicious and unethical. They even used manipulative wording like “I will ask for the fee to be waived,” rather than confirming anything in writing. Completely unprofessional. They claim to be a “serious company,” but their shady tactics, refusal to honor their own terms, and pressure to waive your legal protections say otherwise. I’ve had to involve my bank and prepare for legal action just to recover my money. This is not a travel club—it’s a trap. Save yourself the money, stress, and legal headaches. Stay far away from Prestige !

My wife and I had an excellent experience at Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera. It was an incredible experience and very relaxing. All of the staff were accommodating, especially the butler service provided by Enrique and Armando. They treated us royally! They arranged room service, taxi service, meals, and met all of our needs! They also worked closely with Charly, the pool butler who was excellent! The meals were excellent, especially, the buffet breakfast! This is an excellent getaway if you need to find a piece of paradise for a couple or a family!

Let me start by saying I hate leaving bad reviews.  I feel like people are so quick to leave a bad review off of one experience, that I try to mostly leave positive reviews where I can.  However, in this scenario, there have been so many times we've felt taken advantage of, that I felt it necessary to post, in hopes of preventing others from falling victim to this scam. This is a long post going over each incidence of why I regret things, but in an age where we prefer quick results, here is the TL;DR: We were fed lies through sales tactics, we paid for a 5 yr commitment, a contract was signed AFTER taking money, only to then find out the lies. We regret things immensely.  Please do not sign up with Prestige or Karisma Okay, now for the full store: My husband and I have severe buyer's remorse, we feel stupid we let our guards down, when we are usually pretty suspicious of things like this. We were sold on a package, with big promises and flashy sales tactics.  We were told Prestige provides flight bursaries each year.  We were told they have a partnership with Marriott hotels, and 2 weeks per year we could put towards Marriott, who allow us to book a hotel for $230 a week.  We were hesitant with their 10 yr commitment, so they told us they had an old package for 5 yrs we could consider.  We decided it would be worth it, the savings we would get, along with the flight bursaries and marriott hotels for $230 a week, we would be stupid not to commit.  We agreed and they took our payment.  THIS should have been our first red flag, no discussion of contract before payment.  We were then taken to a separate room, where they then go over a contract.  This was AFTER they took our payment.  They have us read through and sign papers, a lot of papers.  One discussed that we would not get flight bursaries.  My husband and I looked at each other in shock.  We were sold on the package because there were flight bursaries.  That was one of the benefits.  They then told us that because we chose the 5 yr, and not the 10 yr, we would not get flight bursaries.  My heart sank, I felt sick to my stomach at that moment.  This was the selling feature, and I would not have signed on if this were not the case.  They did not indicate this at any point during the discussion that the 5 yr contract would not have a flight bursary.   Did we  understand the reasoning, yes, but it was not discussed and we felt we were led to believe otherwise.  We should have chosen this time to go back on the decision, but they told us we would lose $1000 administration fee.  Again, this contract was AFTER they already took our money!!!  So my husband and I decided to think about it over the next few days as they said we could cancel in 72 hrs.  We also found out the partnership with Marriott was also at a cost, the first year was included, but if we wanted access to discounts after the first year, we would have to pay a fee, another fact they didn't tell us.  We discussed things over, and still felt the $230 a week for a marriot hotel would be worth it, along with the other perks, so my husband and I did not cancel. Our contract stated after 45 days of membership, we had to apply for an access code for the Marriott/Interval website.  It would then take 45 business days to get the access code.  We emailed to ask for the code, with no response.  I then emailed customer service, and were advised our designated contact agent was no longer with Prestige, so they assigned us a new one.  We were advised the request for the access code had been sent, and we would be notified of the access code once it was received.    45 business days came and went, and we emailed, multiple times, with no success.  We finally receive the access code, and were told it can sometimes take longer than the 45 days our contract states, if that is the case, WHY does the contract state 45 business days? Then we come to the interval/marriott website.  We try to look at our options, but apparently we have to request 2 weeks from prestige to be sent to interval, to then see our options.  Talk about confusion and a headache.  Numerous emails and phone calls were made to try and get this sorted, between prestige and interval.  Apparently we have to decide if we want to use our weeks on a cruise, hotel or vacation before they can submit them, but how are we to know what the cost of things are, until the weeks are put through on the interval site?  We finally just ask for 1 week as a hotel to get an idea. By this time we've been trying to plan a vacation since February, and it's now the end of April.  We feel stuck, not being able to plan anything, and frustrated with the back and forth.  The final straw was when we got onto the marriott site, the hotels we are looking at ARE NOT $230 a week like we were led to believe.  Another lie, another issue with what we initially were budgeting when we agreed to this contract.  Oh, also, the resort we fell in love with, the one we bought the contract at, was sold and is no longer an option, as of 2 weeks after we left.   They told us that due to this, we get an additional discount at other resorts.  When did they tell us this?  Once we sent an email with all of the above complaints and concerns.  I've never regretted anything as much as I regret entering this contract.  I'm still sick to my stomach with the amount we put into this, knowing we were lied to, fed sales tactics all to get a sale, and we were left with no flight bursaries, no $230 a week marriott hotels and thus our budgeting we planned when we paid them, went out the window.  Making people sign a contract AFTER taking payment, is just sketchy. If you've made it this far, I really hope I've convinced you not to pursue a contract with Prestige or Karisma, you WILL regret it.

this is a lovely hotel and has improved since our last visit by adding more daily entertainment and special meal events at night. Our room was pefect, it was a paradise ocean view. I asked if we could have a room close to the last time we stayed and they gave us the very same room. That was a lovely touch that meant a lot to us. But thing that stands out above any others is the staff. They are superb at their jobs but more importantly genuinely lovely people. We felt like we left many friends behind when we checked out. Thats how they make you feel, and its priceless. Their are too many to mention individually but any one working in the beach house, 5 oclock bar, compass bar, ritas tacos. All deserve so much thanks from us for making our stay so great. Another thing i need to mention is the cleanliness. This place is spotless. And when you see the cleaning staff you understand why. I was at the pool early most days and a lady called Brenda was cleaning. Her attention to detail and thoroughness was out of this world. What i thought looked perfectly clean, she kept on cleaning. And she deserves a special mention. This was our 2nd visit and we will be back for a 3rd. The staff are responsible for that. the only thing i wasnt keen on was trying to get us to the prestige presentation. It wasnt over the top but was still quite hard sell and we had to say no to many times. Maybe just a desk where if you want to join it you can, would be enough.

Loved having Emilio serve us in Rosa’s and the Beach House. Entertainment was pretty good although foam party was pretty lame with kids but the band was good! A couple of times families showed up at the ADULTS pool. Once staff came and the second seemed like no one cared…. We love having a standard room right by the adult area! Frank & Lolas was good as was Latino for dinner. Had one great dinner at the Beach House from the menu. Would definitely return!

The experience oof wine on the beach is wonderful. Our room service attendant, Edwin, was spot on. What an example of professionalism with a touch of family he is. Our Butler, Mario6 attentive and took care of our needs with a smile. He was perfect. Well done to the staff, a B for the food, and A plus for ambiance.

The buffet gave both American and Mexican choices and everything was fresh and flavor. Mimosas were good too! Thanks to Luis and Antonio for always taking special care of us. Elbert and Manuel were great bartenders. Elbert kept me chilling on the beach. He makes an amazing Passion Fruit margarita. Manuel is a rock star Mixologist. His flavors and presentation are like a tapestry. He’s a must try for after 5 o’clock cocktails. Final gratitude to Edwin from food and restaurant services. His friendliness, professionalism and genuine hospitality was above and beyond this trip. Please recognize him as Star Employee. Now for our Butler Mario who was the heart and soul of our vacation. He was so attentive to all our needs and checked in with us several times a day. He was always a text away and made our stay so memorable. My wife and I were there this past week for the second time and again we enjoyed every minute of our stay , the staff there is amazing but 2 stand out to Emillo one the best waiters I ever had anywhere, and actually remembered us from last year and Shirley can make you any drink you want with a smile on her face she had no problem making us and the group a people we meet there shot after shot., drink after drink.The front desk even greeted us with a welcome back home, and even was able to get us the same room as last year, we can’t wait to go back next year.

Not Even Close to 5-Star – Left After 6 Days We booked this hotel for 2 weeks but ended up checking out after just 6 days. There is absolutely no way this resort deserves its 5-star rating. Misleading from the start – When booking, we were offered a free room upgrade with a full sea view. Just before our trip, we were informed it was only a partial sea view. A frustrating start. Prestige Club favoritism – Unless you're a member of the “Prestige Club,” prepare to feel like a second-class guest. We tried daily to book restaurants as soon as the reservation desk opened (you can only book on the same day), yet every time we were told only 17:30 or 20:30 were available. Eventually, staff admitted the best time slots were held for Prestige members. Restaurant issues – We gave the main restaurant a try twice. Both times the food arrived cold — not what you'd expect from an à la carte service. Breakfast was no better: cold eggs, a limited selection of fruit, and birds eating directly from the bread trays. Not appetising at all. Facilities disappoint – The adult-only pool bar was closed our entire stay. The main evening bar (“5 o’clock bar”) closed at 11 PM and had just one bartender for all guests, so expect long waits. The “Rum Lounge” sounded great… until we found out it wasn’t included in the all-inclusive package. We weren’t told this in advance and were surprised to find we had to pay extra. Serious bug problem – Our room had a recurring bug infestation. Despite reporting it multiple times and being told pest control would come, the issue was never resolved. We came back each evening to find bugs all over our beds. Overall: This is not a 5-star resort. The service, food, and overall experience were well below expectations. We left early and would not return — even for free

Huge credit to the hardworking cleaning staff who kept everything immaculate. Their attention to detail was incredible and did not go unnoticed. The staff across the board were warm, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. Special shoutout to Manuel, the lead mixologist — not only was he a genuinely lovely guy, but his cocktails were next level! His homemade pineapple syrup Margaritas were out of this world. Also a big thanks to Casandra, one of the bartenders, who was super friendly and made every visit to the bar a pleasure. The catering staff were just as brilliant — always smiling, helpful, and made every meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. All in all, it was an excellent stay. I would like to say this was my first time at a Margaritaville hotel and our first time in Mexico from the start of our holiday to the very end we had a fantastic time the hotel is just beautiful clean rooms cleaned daily to a high spec beds are very big and very comfortable ,all staff members were so welcoming Cinthia and Ricardo on reception were lovely sweet helpful souls as are all staff but special mention to them Theresa such a lovely lady very approachable and helpful and the concierge staff so helpful booked some days out with them all went very good . and the lovely lady Angela who kindly makes the protein drinks she was so lovely , the food was very good quality I'm very fussy and not one complaint ,pool areas are very good adult only is lovely peaceful and plenty of sun loungers always bartenders coming around happy to keep your drinks topped up the main eatery was great plenty choice for breakfast and there lunches are very very good also Ritas taco was great the tacos and cheeseburgers are a definite must , lolas was very good also had it a few times never tried the other restaurant but it look lovely ,compass bar beautiful décor nice to chill out with a cocktail or 2 , the beach area is lovely yes there is seaweed but they have people clearing this from early morning to late afternoon very hard work in extreme heat well done to them they deserver a shout out .overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about it just book it you wont be disappointed! i would say i think that maybe they could invest in some nicer drinking glasses for the cocktails around the pools just to give it the proper cocktail vibe . i would without hesitation return to this hotel again one day like i said if you are thinking about it go for it if you want the laid back relaxation feel ,the spa was very good had a love 50 minute massage (sylvia thank you it was very helpful before my long flight home ) thank you all we have made some magical memories in your hotel and coutry and we will return one day .

We visited this resort May 2025 and it was our first time to visit this resort and could not have been more pleased. From the from the welcome.at the front door on arrival to our checkout everything was awesome! The swim up room was spectacular and well maintained. Our butlers Karen and Mariela were exceptional! We never needed to contact them for anything as they were always a step ahead of us. We were celebrating 40 yr anniversary and my husband just received his PhD. Karen and Mariela enjoy their jobs and the service they provided was exceptional. As we plan another trip to this resort we will request them again as our butlers!
