First, huge shout out to Yoe, Kadejeh, Elvis and Eduardo- Yoe, you are amazing, your smile first thing in the morning was like a warm mug of hot chocolate, Kadejeh makes the BEST chai tea, Elvis and Eduardo were commonly our servers and were so wonderful. We stayed in room 301 2/9-2/16 and it was amazing. The junior suite was pleasant and well suited for a couple. We loved the balcony overlooking the back side of the hotel and would ask for that room again vs a beach view. It was just less windy. The location is lovely, such a cute town with anything you need. The staff were all so lovely. One issue is the cost of the food for the all inclusive. I'd say the $2600 we paid for 2 for a week, it really should have been about half that or 75% of that amount. Not many choices/options, time limitations, and one night we had a super grumpy server that basically spoiled the dinner (we were waiting for 20 minutes just for someone to take a drink order and when we asked for someone to take our order, the gentleman was just in a rotton mood and we never recovered). I'd say the wait staff were always running around but the efficiency with service was off but food isn't a huge priority but the cost was inappropriately highly for the quality and the options. Only other complaint was the availability of the lounge chairs on the beach. People go out and save lounge chairs at 5am and then don't spend a minute in them. Typically, they had a personal belonging that was left so it was not condusive to moving their belongings- so lounge chairs ran out early, like by 7am.
Otherwise, the hotel is beautiful, the staff were mostly amazing, the beach is beautiful and swimable. I give it 4 strong stars and we would definately return or try the Fives at Playa del Carmen for the food. Thank you.

Abraham,Carlos,Christina,Cynthia,Daniel,Edwardo,Elvis, Fide,Gabriella,Jesus,Maria,Sergio,Ulises, Yeo & our Maid for Rm#506. The room, all the restaurants where they asked at each meal if we had any food allergies. The chefs were amazing & how they presented our food. The hotel amenities are too many mention the decor was above average, relaxing & inviting.
We highly recommend this resort & will be returning. Kuddos to the Management.
The only improvement we could mention which unfortunately is at all resorts is not enough lounges on the beach for everyone. You have to get up around 6:30 a.m. to save your lounges.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

We just returned from 9 days at the Fives Oceanfront. We ultimately had a great vacation but it got off to a rocky start & required almost $2000.00 extra at the resort to resolve.
The Good - the best food and drink we have ever had at an all inclusive. Beautiful, walkable beach, charming town to wander around in. Crafts with Gustavo were really fun.
The Bad- we traveled with air transat and the photos of the junior suite were totally misleading. Our first room was on the second floor, directly over the service bay. The beeping trucks started at 5am daily. It also had no hot tub on the deck contrary to the photos provided. The only remedy offered was for us to cough up $1750 for a better room for the remaining 7 days. Felt like a bit of a scam, but we went for it, rather than ruining our holiday.
There is also no entertainment in the evening.
The ugly - prepare yourself for the hunger games of chairs. If you do not have a towel out by 5am good luck, most days.
So, I would recommend this resort to foodies and couples looking for a beautiful, quiet vacay. But be very careful of the room you book and don't expect to get a beach chair!

It is sad when you spend the type of money it costs to stay here and they can’t get your name right.
We booked almost 8 months ago with my name. We arrive and the stay is under my name. However nobody knows my real name because they can’t get the computer to fix it. I have become Jacob Thomson for the week. I have brought it their attention many times during the week and no one cared.
This may seem like a silly issue, but it is something I can’t don’t in my profession. Knowing people’s name, correct spelling and pronunciation is vital to my success.
I came here for the small resort and the opportunity to have close personal interactions with the staff. When no body can call you by your own name it demonstrates just the opposite of what I was looking for. No one cared enough to make it right in the system so people could great me properly.
Why would I come back to a place that doesn’t respect me enough to call me by my proper name? Why would I subject myself to another week of disrespect?
This is a management issue not a staff issue. The staff can only look at the iPad and read the name on it. Many of the staff were great. Yoe, was awesome at Romarley. She always had a smile on here face. Carlos and Luis were excellent and taking care of us. Too bad none of the knew me…

Stating at this hotel now, as return visitors. The wonderful adults only pool is the star attraction, but on this trip they have reduced the sun beds to a mere 12 when there is room for at least double that number. The only way to enjoy the pool is a very early start to reserve and guard before the sun gets up! We have asked for 4 days in a row for more beds to be made available and every day they say they will look into it. Avoid unless you don’t care about using the pool! Service is terrible and no one cares.

The Fives Oceanfront was a beautiful place to spend our time in Mexico. The hotel was clean and beautiful, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the town of Puerto Morelos and enjoyed walking into the town center from the hotel to try various restaurants.
Great experience except for one thing
We really liked the hotel and the people who work there. Rooms and amenities including restaurants are all very good. More beach loungers and umbrellas would be welcome, as would some basic kitchen utensils. Only one major quibble: Upon booking we were offered a free transfer from the Cancun airport....
We really liked the hotel and the people who work there. Rooms and amenities including restaurants are all very good. More beach loungers and umbrellas would be welcome, as would some basic kitchen utensils. Only one major quibble: Upon booking we were offered a free transfer from the Cancun airport. As instructed, we submitted our flight information several days before our arrival but when we got to Cancun there was nobody there to meet us. We ended up having to hire a taxi which charged us 2000 pesos for the trip to Puerto Morelos. We will likely come back to The Fives Oceanfront but next time we will arrange our own transfers. Much cheaper and more reliable.

We stayed a week at this lovely boutique hotel. Our room was beautiful and clean. The hotel had good service (sometimes a little slower in the restaurants), and very friendly staff. Yoe was full of energy and smiles every morning greeting us for breakfast at RoMarley, our favorite breakfast waiter, Carlos, worked so hard. Eduardo was an amazing waiter at one of our dinners at RoMarley, we were well looked after. The beach was nice, the seaweed is cleared and the sand is raked, numerous times a day. We spent most of our time on the beach and were amazed by Ulises, he was working the beach all by himself, we had the best beach service that day! We didn't mind that it was quiet at night at the resort, it was an easy walk to town if you wanted to find some night life and feel safe doing so. The hotel offered a Mexican night at the roof top bar, Reggae Music and an incredible seafood barbeque on the beach, and they even hosted a SuperBowl Party for guests. Gustavo was great getting folks involved in crafts and dancing. We truly enjoyed our time and hope to be back one day.
