Nice snorkeling resort...some cons

While the Italian and Asian restaurants did not impress, the Mexican and Flamingos grill were excellente!! Our favorite time of the day was sitting at Flamingos, watching the sunset over the teal waters...listening to a two-person band.
There are pros and cons to a small resort. It's harder to escape the loud partying. You can hear EVERYTHING in your room...construction noise, loud music at the pool, even voices in the hall or bathroom noises next door. I would love to see this place become adult-only.
The overall staff mood is good, but not the level of Atelier Cancun. However, Bryan and Argenis (Flamingos) give 5-star luxury service. They are standouts and an asset to the resort.
SPA: Really nice. First massuese wasnt great, but following ones were. Marie and Argelia were amazing.
ENTERTAINMENT: Typical cheesy magic shows that please kids, but loved the bands...Alex and Alex and then Marlon and Augustine were great.
ROOMS: You can't guarantee what room type you'll get...or if you'll have privacy and a hammock balcony. We had to push our beds together...kind of silly for the price we paid. But nice rooms overall.
REMODEL: As of March 10, 2025 it was still in progress. Kudos to the designer. The furnishings are classy. Fake plants throught resort are lame though.

We’ve been members for awhile now, and our trip to Cozumel Palace reminded us why we joined.
Great facilities and amenities, wonderful food, and the always amazing staff made this a memorable trip.
The resort has been renovated, and we were thrilled to see that we can now snorkel directly off the deck! There was still some renovation work being done, but not in an obtrusive way.
We loved the choice of restaurants, with the varied menu at Bugambilias being our favourite.
David was our concierge, and he took care of every detail meticulously.
We will definitely be back with our kids and grandkids!

This was our third trip to Cozumel Palace. We enjoy the atmosphere, amenities, the people, and the proximity to downtown. It is one of the more expensive resorts in Cozumel so there are a disproportionate ratio of older adults 50+. There are children but generally not many. One of the notable differences with this resort is the heated pool. The pool water is cold in February without a pool heater. They recently remodeled the resort. The resort is older but excellently maintained. The wait staff and entertainers are wonderful. They not only learned my name but remembered me from previous trips. Our main waiter, Jairo, was terrific. I never had an empty glass and seldom ever asked for a refill. Great service! The entertainers are great as well. Charlie, seems to be the leader, has a terrific attitude and you can tell the others respect and follow his lead. Yara, one of the entertainers, has a great personality. You can tell she is genuinely happy to see us. Moses is also an entertainer with a great personality. I’d be remiss not to mention Louis, the physical trainer. He has a great personality as well. He is always there to create workouts or train you with technique. The fitness room has limited free waits (dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls). They have some cable machines, several treadmills (very nice), bikes, and ellipticals. All the equipment is new. We originally chose this resort for its proximity to downtown. We enjoy eating at several of the local restaurants. However, this resort has terrific food. All of their restaurants are great. We’ve stayed at resorts 20+ times. This is the only resort we’ve been to where we genuinely enjoy the food. Like, I’d frequent them if they were in my hometown. The bars and bartenders are great. They do have top shelf liquor but it is at the inside bar. Not bad liquor at the pool bars though. The rooms are fully stocked with beer, soda, water, and hard liquor. They provide red wine in the rooms but you can order white. Shower and tub is nice. The king beds are very comfortable. The twin beds are more comfortable than the average resort mattress. They have a peer and their dive shop and boats are nicer than most in Cozumel. I honestly have nothing bad to say about the resort. We will go back again.

When we arrived for our 5 day trip, check in was very inefficient. They spent more time trying to get us to upgrade than checking us in. I brought sunscreen and everything I needed in my carry on to start vacation so I was taken aback that I got approached by the time share salesman. When I explained that I didn’t want to waste any time listening to a presentation while on vacation, I thought that would be the end of it. It wasn’t. They must put you on a list because when you come back from a morning walk or are sitting at the lobby bar, they interrupt your vacation with the same invitation. It just became a joke, something we laughed at.
The staff is exceptional! The bartenders remember you, they treat you very well in the restaurants and you get cleaning service several times a day. But there was something missing from such a sterile experience. It’s like it wasn’t Mexican enough. There was something missing. I’m not sure but it could have been the season. It was February and all of the guests were from the Midwest, like Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota so I wondered if the hotel was giving them the amount of Mexican that they could process. And then maybe they up it for the Miami, Texas and LA guests at a different season? I wonder, but all of that being said, it was very tame and boring. Perfect if you have young children. It would be boring for teens.
The nightly entertainment was subpar but the other guests kept saying how great it was. Again it wasn’t Mexican. I would have preferred a very professional Ballet Folklorico type performance, actual Mariachi band. As far as I was concerned, it was like vacationing in Florida except there was no beach to walk on. No one ever mentioned that about Cozumel as a whole. The beaches are all rocks like limestone and old construction debris. They are filled with trash. The hotel has a dock from which to dive into the ocean but you can’t go for a walk. To walk you have to go out on the street in either direction. If you don’t care about a beach, the hotel location is very central. It’s in the middle, you can go in one direction towards the ferries and restaurants and in the other direction to all of the dive shops and a few more rustic restaurants.
The hotel is extremely small. That was good because everyone remembered you. They remembered your allergies, your drinks and any other preferences but there was no where to go. It’s just a regular hotel. They are pushing the time shares to pay for hotels to be built in other places. They can’t develop this hotel any further.
We have stayed in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Mexico City, Merida and even Celestun (which is like being in the 3rd world) and I would go back to all of those hotels. I just wouldn’t come back here.

My family typically stays at Playacar and takes a day trip to the Coz. We decided to stay a few nights this time. We were pleasantly surprised to find the resort was renovated. Our DC David was amazing. He was fun, personable and was always checking on us during the day to make sure that we were having a great time. He is definitely going to keep moving up the palace ladder. Our PC Emmanuel was terrific as well. He's always smiling so helpful. He will do anything to make everyone enjoy themselves.
Pros: All rooms are ocean view. They are newly renovated so they feel brand new. The fitness room badly need an upgrade and it got one. We loved that they no longer let guests eat in the pool. The new Flamingos restaurant was good for lunch and great for dinner. The snorkling is fun and now they have paddle boards too. The activity staff of Roger, Charlie , Aby & Maria did a great job. Alan the pool waiter is awesome....so are the bartenders Rodrigo, Juan Carlos, Raul, & Jairo. The resort has shopping a couple blocks away. They had a mardi gras festival at a near by park with rides, food and games. We always felt safe walking around the area day or night.
Cons: The pool deck was really slippery. It needs to be fixed asap before someone gets hurt. Our room was on the 4th floor above the new Flamingos. It had a loud fan on the roof. When the restaurant is closed there is no noise but as soon as it opens the fan starts up. Ask for a room the farthest possible from it.
We were very happy that we decided to stay this time and we will definitely be back!

I used to love Cozumel Palace. They have certainly changed. First, I would recommend they bring the evening buffet back because when hotel is at capacity there is little reservations unless you want to eat at 5 pm or after 8:30. This was an anniversary and I requested the complimentary anniversary dinner. They never acknowledged it until the day before I left. No anniversary note, no bottle of champagne nothing. The property is small and it’s what I love about it. They are trying to make it more upscale creating more reservations. Balcony chairs arrived right when I was leaving. I paid for oceanfront and it was right over Flamingos restaurant. I had to pay $500 to upgrade a room unless I wanted a double bed. The original room, you could only hear the vents screaming and food cooking in your room all day. Palace you real need to bring the outdoor buffet back if everything requires reservations. Thank you.

If you want a first class resort with a fabulous staff, please visit Cozumel Palace. This gem was recently renovated and is superb! The resort has a focus on water sports like scuba and snorkeling, but those who want to relax by the pool are definitely pampered. Emmanuel keeps his guests at the pool very happy! Concierges David and Nina make sure you have everything you need. All the staff is wonderful and Rocio and Miguel made sure we started every morning at Turquesa with a big smile! If you like wine, the sommelier, Joel, is the best!
This resort does not disappoint!
