Royal Hideaway Playacar

We had a romantic dinner on the beach and it was amazing. Really recommend even with the hefty price. Carlos Quintal and Antonio Lopez were amazing waiters that helped us feel good throughout. The food at the resort was amazing. I would truly recommend for folks who want to relax.

Great beach. Excellent service. Delicious food. Variety of specialty restaurants. Friendly staff. Clean room. However, the room could use a new ventilation system. While air conditioning is reasonable, there is a humidity/ mold buildup in the room that leaves an oder on the clothes.

I wish we could have had him as our waiter at all the restaurants since he was so phenomenal.

We had a great time at Royal Hideaway. We arrived fairly late from the UK and after a long flight it was nice to find that we already had a dinner reservation waiting for us. You get a concierge assigned for your room and ours (Cipriano) helped us to make all of our dinner reservations at the various restaurants on site. There are two main pools which were down by the beach, so it was nice to have the option of swimming there or going down to the sea a few metres away. Food was generally good and we really enjoyed the habachi grill on our last night. It was easy to get all the drinks you wanted during the day from the beachfront bar, and there is poolside table service too. The room was excellent, very comfortable bed and the bathroom was nice and large. We really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully be back sometime in the future.

We spent a week at the Royal Hideaway in early March. The resort is in a stunning location with a beautiful beach. The staff are very very friendly and helpful. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from each evening. The quality of food is very good. We had breakfast each morning in The Grill and lunch as well. The breakfast choice was good as was the lunch, especially the salad bar. The evening entertainment in the Allegra bar was varied and enjoyable. The only negative comment I would make is that our sunrise room was a little tired especially the bathroom. You also need to think well ahead to book restaurants. A special mention for our concierge Sucel. Nothing was ever too much trouble. She made a great suggestion as to where we could play golf and booked our transport and tee time. She also gave us excellent advice which we found very helpful. She also helped us with our choices and times for restaurants.

Great adults-only hotel set in beautifully kept gardens. Staff here are excellent and very attentive - especially Armando (our Concierge), Ricardo(super breakfast waiter, Spices), Monserrat(receptionist at Spices), Brenda (waitress at Azia), David(waiter at Ventanas) and Exal (pool attendant). Food was top quality at all restaurants- our favourite was Azia, especially the Teppanaki experience with chef Adrian. While some areas were noisier than others, there are a few smaller pools where you can relax in peace during the day, which we enjoyed as an older couple. Our room was very clean and spacious with comfy seats on the balcony for relaxing. Room service is good and available 24 hours. Just a couple of small suggestions for improvement - if we had a kettle in our room we could have made our own tea each evening instead of calling for room service. We did ask but apparently there are none available. Also the bath plug did not fully close so we had to use a face cloth to keep the water in the tub- this was reported to maintenance but was never repaired. Our main issue was the lack of sunbeds at the resort - there are simply not enough for all guests and some are reserved from early morning with towels etc which is annoying - especially for a quality hotel. All of these things are relatively easy to resolve. Having said that, we have really enjoyed our time here and are particularly grateful to Armando who helped us to call a doctor when my husband was unwell.

Ricky Rosas was a wonderful concierge, saw him multiple times a day and was solving issues sometimes before they arose. Entertainment was lacking, more towards the quite nightlife. Make sure you hit up the ceviche lessons and take them up on any tasting or cooking events. The infinity pool has an amazing view and the beach is absolutely beautiful. Very clean and tidy, tons of staff working hard to make sure your stay is as best as it can be.

We were pleasantly surprised with everything at the Royal Hideaway. The grounds are stunning, and the beach is beautiful and pristine. The staff are top-notch and the food was great as well. Our suite was perfect, a great location close to the beach and pools. We were pleasantly impressed by the staff and their enthusiasm and desire to make our stay memorable! Special mention of the staff including Marian Hernandez who helped plan our wedding with care and awesome support! Other individuals who deserve mention are Carlos and Roberto who brought beautiful energy and spirit in performing their duties in social activities. We loved the aquafit classes that were so much fun! Ricky, our concierge was also always helpful and it's clear that they all absolutely love people and their jobs and it shows! Another shout out to Frank, server at the Grill. You were all so friendly, kind and you all went above and beyond! Thank you for making our stay here stay so enjoyable! We are thankful and grateful!!

My husband and I stayed here for 8 days … although the beach at the resort is beautiful the resort is lacking in many ways … the reservation system for dinner is bizarre as it’s very hard to find to get a suitable time to eat, and as there is no buffet service, the only other option is room service which is awful with poor service … it is definitely not an upscale resort: the rooms are tired and in need of updating, however the gardens are lovely and the activities desk people are great … unfortunately my brand new Gucci perfume was taken from our room which we reported to security… our room was then searched along with our belongings … never felt safe there after that … would not recommend…

Service was great. The staff works hard to keep the customers happy. Food was great but can become repetitive during a la carte lunch both at the deck and spices. The evening restaurants for dinner were great especially the Thai, Grill and Palazzo. We were spoiled by our concierge, Miss Sandra Jeminez - building 25. She helped us get reservations for all our evening meals between 6 pm and 7:30. Plus, she kindly organized 2 breakfast boxes for our early departure. One day, we found her walking on the beach finding her customers to ask how things were going. Top Service from Miss Sandra. The room layout is great and super clean. However, the air conditioning is not strong. Thermostat was set to 17 but temp in room would not go below 23.5. Room could use some TLC. THE BEACHFRONT and line is one of the best in the world. Omg. Beautiful. We had some empty chairs so enough for all. Beach service is the best - always coming around. They have bars attached to every restaurant - so cool. You can have a drink before your reservation comes up. Allegra evening is great plus the hotel show is fun. They work so hard. After getting home and opening our luggage, we were shocked by the smell of our clothes. Everything smelled lightly of humidity from the room. Overall, it s a great little place with great staff that needs a little tlc.

We had a wonderful experience at the Royal Hideaway Playacar! The food was delicious and the resort was kept clean. Fun nightly shows and activities. The staff was wonderful at helping us with anything we needed, especially our concierge Gabriella in Villa 26. She made booking our dinner reservations easy and helped/recommended excursions for us to take which turned out to be amazing. While the service was exceptional at the restaurants, we wanted to highlight one particular server we had at The Grill- Antonio Lopez. Antonio was our server during the last dinner of our trip and he truly made it a wonderful last night. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed during our meal! Truly an amazing way to end the trip!

We stayed at the Royal Hideaway Playacar recently (our eighth time) and had a wonderful time! The check in process was easy and quick. Our room was neat and comfortable. Our concierge was Fernanda and she was great! The first night there was a squeak (from the ceiling fan?) that kept us awake. When mentioned to Fernanda, it was taken care of right away. The next day our ceiling was leaking at the entrance to the bathroom. Again, Fernanda had it fixed right away. We had excellent meals at all the restaurants with Palazzo our favorite. We looked forward to the coconut ice cream for dessert. We spent our days on the beach and Eduardo took good care of us, he seemed to always know when we needed another cocktail. One of my most favorite things about the beach is the canapies over the beach chairs! Having shade on the beach is a deal breaker for me. I’m sad to see many of them are in bad repair. I’m hoping these will be upgraded. Exal, the pool concierge was also polite and efficient. We can’t say enough good things about this low key relaxing resort. Looking forward to our next stay!

We had a great trip. The staff could not be sweeter and more accommodating to us! One of our favorite nights was karaoke. Our favorite restaurant for breakfast was spices and our favorite dinner spot was the grill. We highly recommend aqua aerobics! We will for sure be coming back.
