Recently returned on Mar 5 2025 . This is a gorgeous hotel unlike others . Grandeur building with amazing modern architecture. Architects would really appreciate the consistent spatial proportions Large rooms with private balconies and an outdoor large jacuzzi . Ground floor ocean front with private pools The building is crescent shaped and all the ocean front rooms have the same view of the water. We were on the 5th floor at the back near the south end so we saw some ocean but because of the shape our balcony was completely private . Excellent sunsets at the back The bed is extra large and very comfortable. The linens were made up everyday with room service Large walk in shower and always good water pressure and lots of hot water . Private toilet area . Luxury fixtures , tile and stone work There are four large pools that are beautiful with intricate islands and two swim up bars . The patio deck has lounges and clams for two and hammocks lots of space absolutely no crowding . The beach is constantly groomed and cleaned every day as is all the landscaping. Excellent sand and beautiful palms . Water was shallow entry and warm 83 deg . There are two loungers per palm tree in the early AM but people rearrange as the days go on. Try to get down by 8 am to select as one of days they were all gone . One large main buffet for breakfast and lunch. Lots of omelette stations and at lunch meal prep stations. All quality food well presented . Nothing gets boring The four al a carte restaurants are Japanese Italian Mexican and French . Exclusive to this resort but there are many others at the other three that you would have access to . Each restaurant is exclusively decorated to match the cuisine and excellent menus The alcohol is real and beer is Corona or Modelo . Nighttime has entertainment starting at 10 on the plaza. Fun light up seating and good bands Overall this is the best resort out of 15 years of travelling . Adults only but if you want to be around families just walk the beach or take the bus ride to the adjoining resorts Warning this building is 5 stories high and about 400 ft long . Lots of walking on tiled floors . Would be good for a wheel chair but basically be prepared to walk . About 180 rooms on the top floor. We were at the far end maybe if want you could ask for rooms near the lobby core for less walking

The rooms are huge and lovely, the pools are huge, the public spaces are ginormous. Food can be hit or miss since this is an all-inclusive resort but you can figure out which restaurants and dishes are good and we find the food more than adequate. And all the fresh fruits and vegetables are fantastic. My husband and I like that it's adults-only for a quieter and relaxing get away but why is the music/entertainment by the pools so loud? Honestly, we go to this hotel for peace and quiet and tranquility and having to listen to blaring music or an MC yelling at us is anything but enjoyable. We escape to the quieter side of the pools but even from there you can't escape the loudspeakers at the other end of the hotel. Can the loudspeakers be pointed just in one direction so that those of us who don't want to hear it can be spared? Really that's my biggest disappointment with this hotel.

It was a good time as always but it will be our last visit. The staff were great the majority of the time. I wanted to give a big shout out to one employee who stood out. He works in the outdoor part of the buffet at the riviera. His name is Raul Tuz. He is a pleasant and hard working young man with a family. His English is pretty good and he keeps working on it. We met a lot of people as we always do....I mean staff.....but he was exceptional. He is one of the best we have had the pleasure of meeting in our numerous stays at this resort. The snorkelling was great. Saw turtles, stingrays and lots of colourful fish at the Palace end. The stingrays sit in shallow water along the shore of the Riviera every day. The pools are a plenty. The beach is decent but a bit rocky so shoes would be advised. The bus was handy as I was unable to walk far on this particular trip. Runs every 15 minutes all day long. We ended up getting an upgrade to premium which allowed us to get better liquor. Never thought it would matter but it does. That would be the only reason I would get an upgrade. The premium rooms don't interest me. Everyone raves about the a la carte and we did not do any this year. For one I don't like being on a schedule. For another, the buffet has all kinds of different food to offer as well as cooking something up fresh for you as well. We found no need for a la carte as the two we did visit a year ago were awful. They were the Japanese (amount of salt could kill ya) and the Mexican was just not the traditional Mexican we were expecting. When we arrived we had an ocean view which was beautiful. The bad part was we were close to the music that starts after ten and goes til 1 or 2 am I think. We actually couldn't sleep it was so loud. So we ended up on the backside with partial ocean/garden view. It was bliss. So quiet. Only con is the truck that runs along that back road around 6pm every night spraying/fogging something that we assume is to kill some kind of bug/bugs. It smells at the time they do it but it does disperse after 5 or ten minutes. If you are shopping for something at the resort it is best to go to the outside mall. They seem to be the cheapest. Some places wanted $90 Canadian for a decent size bottle of sunscreen. You can buy it at the outdoor mall for about $18 if you haggle. We took a cab to and from. $90 CAD on the way home and got there in 50 minutes....guy drove like mad lol. We did get asked at the airport to pay the Visitax which was $37 each CAD. You do not have to prove you have this at any entry, like when you check in at westjet say or going through customs showing your passport. Knowing that, now we know we could have just said yes we have it already and kept on walking. They look like any other sales person selling this. It is only for Quintana Roo so not needed anywhere else in mexico. There is an environmental tax you pay upon checkin but I can't remember what it was but not a lot. We had a great time and been about 6 times now. Time for a new resort.

From check-in to check out everything was perfect. Despite the ongoing abundance of sargassum (seaweed) the beach was in immaculate condition. Compliments to the ongoing and tireless maintenance staff. Thank you. Food was (as always) exceptional. We had the luxury of using the Premier Lounge and although there is nothing wrong with the Lobby Bar, the solitude of the Premier Lounge is recommended (thank you management). A differentiator of the BM Riviera is the staff. Always very friendly, spontaneous and courteous. We will be back.
