Hotel without a beach left !! To avoid
Attention !!! The beach you see on the pictures is old. There is almost no beach left ( climate change) !!! So forget this hotel if you like beaches. Now only stones in the water, so dangerous to swim there. Otherwise, almost only americans there, so very american style hotel....

Otherwise, almost only americans there, so very american style hotel. ( even if managed by a Swede i understand !)
The choice of restaurants is very limited.
There are few shows and when there is one, they have the good idea to start at 8 pm, smart ! Note that it is an adult only hotel, so they could start later..
The breakfast restaurant by the beach is not a buffet, so you need to wait to have your coffee… and the choice is very limited.
Regarding the service, it is not equal for every restarant, so avarage.
The room is good.

Amazing food and customer service
. We had Javier, Lucas, Lennin, and Tono for breakfast service each morning and they were phenomenal! We loved the sushi class, bachata class, and water aerobics . So fun! We went to celebrate a birthday and it was very nice .

If you are a diver, avoid this place. I booked 5 dives over 3 mornings. I made exactly 2, and they were pushed to the afternoon. Aquaworld runs the dive operation. The dive staff was great, but Aquaworld could not get the boats to the resort. Once, they canceled the dive but bussed me to Cancun to dive at Aquaword central. Turned into an 8-1/2 hour slog. I'm very unhappy.

This was our third visit to this resort. The service is top notch! The food is delicious, the rooms are spacious and clean. Beautiful pools with lots of entertainment and a few steps from 5th Avenue. I must acknowledge the wonderful service from a few key staff members that made our stay unforgettable. They had a way of making us feel special and welcomed. We are already booked for next year.
From Spice: Lenin Escobedo, Lucas Tamayo, Antonio Cohoo, Qualtrucs, Landa Antonio, Jairo Mendez and Joseph Caballero.
The AMAZING Deborah from entertainment. She always has a smile on her face and she has such patience, reaching us how to dance and makes everything fun!
The kindest, friendliest, most wonderful Yazmin Avendaño who tend to the pool area, deals with cabanas etc.. she made me feel like a friend. I had a little frustration with the new cabana rules that were implemented since our previous stay and she tried her best to accommodate us. She always went above and beyond. Give this woman a raise!!!!

We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of February. We had an ocean view room which we were quite disappointed in. Not worth the extra money. You could see the ocean if you sat at the very corner of the balcony and leaned out. The food was good at the buffet and at the al a carte. We had no problem booking for the restaurants for dinner. The service was hit and miss. Sometimes our waiter was very good and other times they dropped off your food and you never saw them again. Drinks were hit and miss. Best drinks are at the La Mejorada. If you are watching the shows in the evening, get your drinks there. Shows were entertaining. A little different from what we've seen at other all inclusive. We didn't enjoy the pool area or beach. The pool area was difficult to find a lounger in the shade (which my husband needs) without getting up at 8:00 am or sitting in the "sardine" area where you are squished in with cabanas in front of you. In our opinion there are too many cabanas around the pool taking up too much space. Most days half were not used. There is no where you can sit at the pool and see the ocean. The beach area is quite narrow. Some days the seaweed smell was too strong to comfortably sit down there. They did an excellent job of trying to clean the beach each day. The location of the resort is excellent. We walked up and down 5th avenue most evenings. We would not return because for the cost we've been to much better resorts with a more comfortable pool area and nicer beach.

Excellent employees and service throughout the property but restaurants at night are very slow. We had a presidential suite but they are located so far from the water and everything thing else I would never do it again! Probably would of been much happier paying less for an oceanfront room....

We had a presidential suite but they are located so far from the water and everything thing else I would never do it again!
Probably would of been much happier paying less for an oceanfront room.
Our suite still had the same tiny hotel frig as a motel 6 which seemed very tacky by Hilton.
A couple restaurants took over 1,5 hours for dinner when there was nobody there. We just wanted to eat and move on with our evening.
Great location to the local scene and we did that nightly as the hotel quits down early.
It was a 3.75 out of 5 for me and a nice solid week of relaxing but we don't anticipate returning.

This was our first trip to Mexico and our first all inclusive stay at a resort so I had limited expectations. We stayed 8 days, 7 nights, Saturday to Saturday. First, the staff doing the day-to-day work were fabulous. They always greeted us and helped us with joy and diligence to their job. They are what made the stay enjoyable. - - bring $1’s, $5’s and 10’s to tip.
The food – most of the restaurants served good food. There were dishes that were not to our expectations, but I think that is normal to any place. We paid to eat at the Chef’s Plate one night. The service was grand. The food was mediocre at best. We had the steak and lobster – the steak was tough and the lobster dried out from what I guess was a heat lamp. It was not worth the price we paid.
We did listen to the Playa Collection sales pitch. It was nearly 2.5 hours, not the 1.5 advertised. And yes, it was very high pressure to buy.
The room was fine overall. The bed was the part that ruined the trip. It was broken down and worn out. We slept in holes. I complained after our first and second nights there and never received any feedback or action. Our backs hurt every morning after a restless night. On the last full day there, a rainy Friday we were in the open area when we were approached by a lady, I thought was part the management of the entertainment. She asked about our stay. We told her about the bed. I am happy to say that she got it replaced on our last night at the resort.
We did take two excursions. They were both booked at the hotel and done through Cancun Adventures. They are both ok. Just be aware – what ever the advertised time is, add at least 2 hours to it. The time it takes on pickup and drop-off at several hotels adds to the overall time.
Reviewing the comments many others have made it seems my comments are typical. It seems they have great staff doing great jobs. But management needs to engage with clients when there is a problem, even if they can not solve it. Ideally, they would find a solution, but most of us realize, due to the volume of people and limited options there is not always an answer.

Got back from a 6 night stay at Hilton. We had a decent time. The hotel is very boutique not a lot of things to do on the facilities themself. The room was very nice I would give it a 4.5/5 the tub was great add on we were partial ocean view the maids & mini bar was restocked daily. Food was really good the Taco bar was my favourite lunch spot and dinner had great restaurants. The beach was very rocky and smelly but I cant control that. They did clean up the seaweed daily but getting a beach chair was hard if you didn’t have the upgrade for the cabanas. Service on the beach was good there was someone coming every 20/30 mins.
The hotel does have a lot of upsells which I did not like. It discouraged me to sit by the pool because you had to sit all the way in the back. Even when they came around to give shots by the pool they only had alcohol options which would cost $, not any included alcohol which really took away from the experience. The property really wants you to pay for upgrades and you can’t get away from it. Overall the food and facilities were nice id give it a 4/5.

Want a nice, relaxaing stay in a well maintained or even decent hotel? Then you should go somewhere else.
We came here for a 4 night stay as a part of our honeymoon but decided to leave after 2 nights and paying extra for another hotel just to be able to get away from this.
Overcrowded, like a mexican bullfight in the pool area with obnoxiously loud music, overfull restaurants and its so loud everywhere. We could not hear eachother during dinners due to the echoing of shouting in the restauarants and the acuostic. Imagine thinking you are going to a 5 star hotel with ”luxury all inclusive” and you end up at a coachella festival with cheap and bad food and drink options. I would pay not go here again.

Hi there, just got back from Hilton Playa Del Carmen February 15th,
Piggybacking what most people have written the resort is beautiful with nice large rooms and in a great location to Fifth Ave. Friendly hard-working staff with better than average food for an all-inclusive. The beach is long but narrow and not very swimmable due to rocks, but actually that is somewhat of a positive because even though Mexican beaches are public Locals, Ex-Pat's and Condo renters don't set-up beach umbrellas or hang out in front of this resort, they head a little more north to the Grand Hyatt which has a swimmable beach. My biggest complaint with this resort and it's a big one is the not stop push to try and sell you something. Superbowl party $299 or $229 per couple rooftop full moon dinner $109 per person. Valentines' day, Chef's plate. Always trying to upcharge every single opportunity, they can. It never ended the whole week we were there. If we were having Breakfast at spice A guy Named Jose in a red shirt would come by our table be friendly get you a new napkin or silverware and then start in on promos for dinner or some other excursion to go on and then he would do the same thing at lunch. Even the Cabana staff would be trying to cross sell you something. The way we got them to stop would be to lie and tell them yeah, we already signed up for this or that just to get them to leave us alone and let us enjoy our vacation. Also, if you rent a cabana new rule change, you only get just the cabana not the chairs out in front of the cabana so be aware. And remember no saving chairs or using Bluetooth speakers even though we found out that still happens. Note if you do sign up for one of the specialty dinners be aware that what's on the menu when you sign up might not be the exact dinner you're going to get. We had that happen as well. Overall, I think we would return if the price was right. I wouldn't overpay for this property.

We just left from our first time stay . We were there for a few days. First have to say the staff is incredible! Everyone we encountered were friendly and eager to help. Our room was an ocean front view Junior Suite. Large room with a great view and perfect location. Bed was super comfortable!
Food- Spice for breakfast was excellent! Huge selection. Lucas was our server every morning- he was so happy and provided great service. The coffee shop by lobby made great coffee drinks! We ate at Asiana and the Mexican restaurant both were very good! For valentine’s Day we ate at Chefs Plate. For that evening only it was a special seven course meal. You did not have a choice to order off the menu. It was already an up charge that they charged even more money than the up charge. The food was subpar. It came with lobster and short ribs as a main entrée , the lobster was so chewy. We couldn’t cut it with a knife and the short ribs were pure fat. We were very disappointed in that meal to say the least. Cocktails and drinks were good. Some of the mixers I do have to say did have a chemical taste to it that has been mentioned in other post.
Pool atmosphere. The cabana situation is odd and a tad frustrating. They do almost force you to have to rent one if you wanna guaranteed seat by the pool or a specific location.
The cabanas are not very private. There’s lounge chairs right next to them and also in front of the cabanas blocking your access to the pool.
Beach in front of hotel is very narrow, but very clean and very safe. You can walk the beach past all the other hotels and go swimming very pleasant. The beaches are not private open to all public..
All in all and beautiful resort that was very clean, exceptionally staff and very abundant of food choices that were delicious.

We had an amazing week at Hilton Playa Del Carmen ! It's the first time that we both agree on coming back again at a place.
Cleanest: the hotel is very clean. Every corner is clean and all the week, we could see staff painting, fixing things or just cleaning the place. They take care about each part of the building.
Room : we had a garden view room. The room vas very nice, modern, well equiped and clean. The bed was comfortable, we had storage, 2 sink in the bathroom and a big bath.
Food : the food was excellent (and I am usually difficult and picky on my food). There is a lot of variety at the buffet and the restaurant and everything is fresh. SPECIAL MENTION : they care a lot about food allergies. We both have allergies and every time you enter in a restaurant, they ask you if you have allergy, and the waiter ask you a second time. Even the chef came at our table to make sure the food we had was safe and good for us. It's the first time of my life I'm traveling without having any problem with my stomach.
Entertainment : every night, there is a show in the lobby. The show are really nice, good quality and professional. I was impressed by the talent of the dancer/acrobats. Not a typical "kitch" show that you are used to have in a all inclusive resort. Plus, there is a lot of activities during the day. Entertainment team are really nice. Thanks to Daniel, Zander, Dulce and Aaron for the nice week.
Beach : the beach is not big but there is a few chair and it's good to lay down on the beach. There is a few rocks but you can swim at some place we're there is less rocks. Otherwise, bring sea shoes. They also clean the beach when there is sea weed.
Staff : everyone are very helpful, welcoming, nice and in a good mood. Staff are happy to see you and it makes all the difference.
Thanks for the week and we'll see you next time !

We went for 7 days for our honeymoon. This hotel has the most courteous and friendly staff that you will meet. Their customer service is top notch and they will make you feel like royalty. The staff at Spice are fantastic. They greeted us every time we went for breakfast and so attentive. Miguel Arcos, Pablo Solis, Demetria Chi, Pedro Asorio and their manager, Jose Garcia are phenomenal! They were super friendly and gracious.
The hotel itself is well kept and everything is clean. There is a wide selection of food and events to do. The pools are fun and the beach is on site as well. We attended the pool party and our instructor host was awesome, we can’t remember his name but he made the foam party so much fun. We had a couple’s massage and hydrotherapy treatment in their spa. Highly recommend.
The hotel is walking distance to shopping on 5th ave as well.
All of the staff we interacted with we great Mario at the front area, Erik and Daniel taking pictures, Alex, Anndy, Sasha, Annahi, and Edgar with the Playa Collection.
