Could never get a sunbed. When you was lucky to get one - go for lunch and someone had taken your towels off and using them! Communal toilets need updating badly. Al la carte restaurants were not! The Mexican was the beach buffet and they just put a place mat on the tables! Room was not cleaned with fresh towels on my birthday (14 Feb) and phoned reception 6 times to chase them. Made us late for my birthday meal at one of the so called Al la carte restaurants…. Would not return to this hotel

While the resort was clean and the pools and beach were excellent, both my girlfriend and I were disappointed with our experience of this resort.
The biggest issue was the absolute onslaught of mosquitos that were *almost everywhere* at the resort, even during the day (especially in the lobby) and in our room (but to a lesser extent). It was so bad that after dinner, during the evening, we just stayed in our room and missed all of the shows in order to prevent getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. We tried bug repellent and it did help somewhat (for about an hour) but the mosquitos were so aggressive they even found ways to sting us despite that.
We were assigned an older cleanish room with an air conditioner that had the output of a asthmatic squirrel so after one night, we went to the lobby, got stung *again* by so many mosquitos while we waited for a solid 15 mins and we were switched to another older room in a different villa. Thankfully, this one had a somewhat better working air conditioner (but I do mean "somewhat", as I don't think it got cooler than 22 ~ 23°C in our room during our whole stay and that's with the air conditioner working "at full blast", if we can call it that).
The food at the main buffet was almost always "ok" to excellent, no complaints there. We tried 3 of the many restaurants, the Indian was very average, the Japanese (there are 2 Japanese restaurants, and I believe we went to the Mikado, if memory serves) was very good and the Mexican was outstanding.
The mattress was basically a slab of concrete, the sheets felt like they were made of a wool / fire-ant / sandpaper blend of fabric and the pillows were too small and too hard. I slept like crap during my whole stay (but I do suffer from mild insomnia) but the main culprit was not my insomnia but rather, again, the damn mosquitos that were constantly in our room (not a whole lot of them, I'd say always about a dozen), we did try to swat as many of them before we went to bed but somehow new ones found their way in our room during the night. One trick that helped us was to leave the light on in the bathroom and all of them off in the bedroom, so the mosquitos just stayed *mostly* in the bathroom. But this meant, we had to sleep under the sheets in a not very cool room, so the choice was, get stung by mosquitos while you sleep or be hot under the sheets... on an uncomfortable bed.
The resort is enormous so unless we like to do *a lot* of walking. you'll need to rely on their shuttle service (that do work all the time) to bring you everywhere on the resort.

Very average. The resort itself is huge needing a trolly to get to and from the buffet, room, and pool. The pool itself was nice however extremely overcrowded not even to mention the beach. Good luck getting a chair if you’re up later then 6:00 am. Service was mediocre. Hard pressed to even get a water let alone a drink at the buffet. Lots of variety at the buffet and the Japanese and garden grill were the best a la cartes. The mosquitoes are horrendous. Unable to sit in the lobby past 9pm without getting eaten alive literally. It was unbearable however we sucked it up a few nights to watch the shows. The entertainment was good! Always lots of activities and nightly shows were impressive specifically the magic and circus shows. Overall would I go back? no. Did I have a good vacation? Yes

Avoid!Avoid! food quality, sewage odours, overcrowding, staffing levels, and room condition.Rooms old ! Need refurbished, waiting times for drinks 40 min every single bar, pls don’t drink from plastic cups they are not rinsed they are soaked in water after previous usage. Small part of beach belongs to the hotel overcrowded miracle to find the chairs it was hart breaking to see families with kids to try to find any space, pools dirty. Staff rude ignorants. Al carte restaurants serving exactly the same food as buffet the difference is decorative plates and table cloth. Food discussing, grilled burgers served frozen, frozen guacamole etc. The most important hotel has a problem with sewage smells odour in the bedrooms ,main lobby and main buffet ( not possible to eat anything) man’s toilet ( individual toilet got a bit for toilet paper and notes pls do not flush toilet paper so you can imagine what view you can experience ( obviously problem with sewage) entertainment boring karaoke every night! We have seen ppl vomit.
That’s 1 star hotel.! There is only 1 good thing I can say about this hotel ( weather) Tui representatives response for my feedback pathetic, they are not interested, shame because I visited last year Bavaro and was amazing! Very disappointed with TUI they shouldn’t advertise in the high spectrum if there is nothing good to say!

Summer during winter time
The Resort is really the five star quality with excellent internal organization, food, night entertainment, beach. The only remark is that there are not enough sun umbrellas beside the beach and pools,so about two thirds of beds are exposed to sun or rain.
The resort is huge but there are trams to get you around if you don not want to walk. We used them at times but walked mostly. The crowds made the beach all but too busy after bout 10:00 am. Our room was an upgraded one and we had no...
The resort is huge but there are trams to get you around if you don not want to walk. We used them at times but walked mostly. The crowds made the beach all but too busy after bout 10:00 am.
Our room was an upgraded one and we had no complaints about it at all.
Some of the buffet staff were very unmotivated in the mornings and most days we had to go find a server to get a coffee. They were mostly mingling and talking around their service counter and would not proactively bring coffee or pay attention to the customers.
The food was typical fare for these resorts however the food at the buffets was either cool or cold most meals. At least there is a microwave available.
We ate at a few a À la cartes and found the Greek and Italian to be our favorites.
The biggest complaint we had was the mosquitoes. They were absolutely terrible. We had repellent on constantly in the evenings and we still could not sit out in the lobbies, bars or outside areas after dinner. They were OK during the day so that made the pools and beach OK.
We have been to many resorts all over the Caribbean and this one was very average for the money.

Go see Joe the vendor on Friday and you won't be disappointed.

This is my 3rd visit to here admittedly after a 7 year gap which I visited solo but this time with my partner as his visit here, after ready recent reviews I knew it wasn’t going to be the same and yes some of the hotel areas are in need of improvement looking tired but they are in the start of a period of improvements so we will have to see.
Our room was a premium which was perfect very clean and quiet.
Food it’s an all inclusive so food prepared in vast quantities so obviously not restaurant standards but fine a large choice salads and tropical fruit lovely the cooked food is nearly always lukewarm.
Try a la carte Garden Grill a highlight.
Lastly the staff who work very hard like everywhere you get the odd unhelpful one mostly due to the language but the vast majority are brilliant especially in a crisis. So if you’re looking for a bit more luxury especially as a couple I suggest the Ambar or Esmeralda. But as they say you get what you pay for.

After I booked this resort and then read the reviews posted on here I was so scared and wanted to cancel. THANK GOODNESS I DID NOT!! this resort is beautiful and we had such a wonderful time. I will admit that I did end up upgrading our room to a renovated suite once we arrived at the resort. I saw too many negative reviews of the old rooms and didn't want to chance it. We ended up in Villa 8 which was perfect. Walking distance to the beach and a two minute trolley ride to the lobby/buffets. We even walked there often from our villa and it took 10 minutes max.
Many spoke about sand fleas, we spent the majority of our days at the beach and never encountered one. We didn't lay directly on the sand, but would lay on the loungers provided. The only things you will encounter are venders lol. If you say no thank you they will respect that and move on.
As for the mosquitos, yes they have some. During the day we never saw them, accept in the morning in the main lobby, and sometimes in the buffet. When I mean sometimes, I literally mean the odd one or two flying around. The evening is when they are most noticeable. Thankfully I came prepared with insect repellent and never got one bite!! I made sure my repellent had 30% deet and that did the trick.
The staff works super hard and sometimes it shows on their faces in the main buffets. This is understandable though as hundreds of people pass through each hour, non stop. I would feel exhausted too. I never encountered a rude employee and they always helped with any request we had.
Please do not get discouraged by the negative reviews, as you know nothing is perfect in life. I would give this resort 4 solid stars.

We went here last week and had a lovely time. It felt very safe and relaxing. There were never any lines, the food was good (although we didn't get to try the a la cartes), it was very clean and you could see the ocean from almost anywhere on the property. The downside is there were no activities, shows or entertainment, so I would suggest doing a few excursions (I would book them on your own as if you do it through the companies at the hotel they are more expensive.) The staff were very friendly and professional.

Me and my partner spent 2 weeks at this resort, after reading previous reviews we were very worried, however I wish I never read them and save myself the anxiety, they are hardly worth complaining about! The resort is beautiful, the staff clean all day every day, all the waiters & bar staff are excellent, if you treat them kind you will get the same in return! We had no issues with mosquitoes we brought bug spray and was fine, we have chosen to holiday in a hot country so expect them ! The food was fine, and make sure you book your a la cartes as they were fab ! I feel a lot of these reviews are people complaining for the sake of it! We had an amazing time and the whole place is beautiful. We had a renovated room which was clean and modern. I would 100% return and recommend this resort to everyone!

Honest Review of Our Honeymoon Stay at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana (May 2025)

As a loyal guest who has stayed at multiple Bahia Principe resorts and recommended them to many friends and family over the years, it truly saddens me to write this review. But after what my husband and I experienced during our honeymoon, I feel a responsibility to others planning a special trip—especially something as meaningful as a honeymoon—to share the truth.
We checked into Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana on May 3, 2025, and from the moment we arrived, it was evident that our assigned room (Villa 79, Room 79307) was poorly maintained. The stairs and exterior doors were chipped and dirty. Inside, the room had a strong smell of mold, poor lighting, no honeymoon amenities, an empty mini fridge, and a tub that wouldn’t drain. We were eventually moved to Room 7305, but only after repeating our complaint and losing valuable time.
One of the most disturbing moments was when a staff member entered our room loudly and unannounced while we were napping. He did not knock, which was a clear violation of privacy and professionalism.
Throughout our stay, we encountered unacceptable issues with food and cleanliness: moldy bread at breakfast, a roach in the dessert area, and a strong sewage odor in the buffet. We quietly reported each incident, not wanting to cause a scene, but none were resolved.
The lack of professionalism among several staff members was also shocking. We witnessed cart drivers shouting vulgarities at each other, joking loudly as if they were off-duty, and some even flirting openly with housekeeping staff. This is not the environment I remember from previous Bahia Principe stays, where staff were respectful, polished, and genuinely focused on service.
In response to our formal complaint, we were offered a vague “VIP treatment” for a future stay—with no details, no instructions, and no explanation of what it entails. We were told a complimentary stay was not possible. But how can anyone expect a guest to return and spend more money after such a disappointing experience, especially with no clarity about what “VIP” even means?
Unfortunately, I don’t have photos to document these issues. My intention was never to harm this business. I gave the benefit of the doubt throughout our stay and chose to report issues quietly and respectfully. My sincere hope was to see the brand I once loved make things right—not only by improving but also by offering a resolution that would have made me feel comfortable recommending Bahia Principe again.
Instead, I left feeling unheard, disappointed, and saddened that our honeymoon—a moment we will never get back—was marked by stress and frustration.
I hope this review encourages others to ask questions, manage expectations, and be vocal if something is wrong. Moments like a honeymoon are too important to entrust to a brand that doesn’t follow through.

Arrived to the hotel yesterday evening and after checking in we went to our room to find it had 2 small beds and not a king, we waited until the next morning and went to reception to ask to change rooms for a king bed as we were travelling as a couple, the staff member on reception advised us to pack all of our belongings back into our cases and return back to reception at 17.00 and they would move us to block 22, so at 17.00 we went to reception with our cases to be told ‘sorry we have no king rooms left’ we was absolutely furious as we had now repacked everything back into the cases and had taken them all the way back down to reception in the rain, and the man dealing with us who claimed to be a supervisor didn’t seem bothered one bit, he confirmed he could see the notes on our booking stating we was moving rooms but clearly nobody bothered to book us into one, so we had to go all the way back to our room and unpack yet again , massive inconvenience. When you’re paying thousands for a holiday you expect great customer service but this hotel is lacking in that department. We recently was in the Bahia Príncipe luxury akhumel in Mexico and after a fab holiday there decided to try here but the service is not on par with them. We was going to book the Bahia principe in Jamaica but after the mess around here and zero service from staff I think we will go with someone else.

Honest review. Could not fault the hotel was beautiful and our room was lovely too. Our maid was excellent and room cleaned daily. My only let down was the buffet hall so unorganised and always so busy and if you don't speak Spanish then your left to your own devices. Some very rude staff in there. The entertainment team work so hard and were brilliant my only set back there was everything is catered for Spanish speaking people hardly anything in English even the music was all Spanish with a little bit of English music thrown in for good measure. The bar staff were brilliant in the evenings with Alberto (aka denzel Washington) who looked after us from start to finish. Good holiday but you need to up your game to cater more for English speaking people.
