A lovely hotel in a spectacular setting. We had a great stay. We loved Bacalar in general and this hotel was great. Staff was friendly and eager to help with anything we needed. They set up a private boat tour which was the highlight of our trip. The rooms are pretty and comfortable with fantastic views. The food was solid and the bar had great cocktails and nice service. Our only minor issue was the first room we were assigned was very noisy. The hotel is mostly concrete and sounds really travel in the lower corridor. I hope we get to stay again. Highly recommend.

The good is that the location and views are amazing - probably the best in Bacalar. It's about 50 mins walk to town and places like Mi Burrito but its a straight road and we did this many times. It's a really beautiful accommodation and we had breakfast included which was lovely. The male who checked us in was so hrloful and gave us lots of info. Generally staff were lovely (tipping motivated) and we really appreciated the free kayaks (free bikes would be a bonus too). The taxi is about 80 pesos into town or from the ADO stop. Here is where there can be some improvements. The shower is a large rainfall shower which is lovely but for us women who don't want to wet their hair it really would benefit from an additional smaller shower hose like we found in other hotels in Mexico that had a laege rainfall shower. It also leaked a little (the shower). The room is modern and we loved the look of it, but things like USB plus would be good. Light switches, I've never seen so many- there were at least 12 and some didn't seem to do anything (the fan had one fast speed or off)! That said it was nice to have a variety of lighting and it fit with the modern feel. Our room 403 had a great view, it was clean (ish) althougb we found discarded water bottles under the bathroom sink and until we tipped, the tissue under the sink wasn't replenished. It seems odd for a 3 night stay the coffee is not replenished (only at additional cost) and there is no tea. Restaurant is lovely albeit a bit short on choices that aren't fish/seafood. Valentines night was lovely and staff made a real effort. We tipped generously at the meal on Valentines but at the next morning after breakfast we were asked to sign a receipt for $0 (as breakfast was included) and asked for a tip. When we didn't tip we noticed the next morning service has definitely cooled towards us and staff were really off and we felt pressured to add a tip onto our $0 bill each morning. Not being from the US tipping isn't as normal to us as American tourists and it's clear its really expected here! Once we added a tip on service then resumed but it really shouldn't be about tipping or not.... one point to mention with the included breakfast is that you got a choice of tea or coffee but no juices. Also, please can you give spoons with the yoghurt and granola. It's pretty difficult to eat yoghurt with a fork.... One hiccup was about taxi service. We asked at least 3 times about a taxi to the ferry point in Chetumal and were told it was $600 so we asked them to book us a taxi for our check out day. This mirrored what we had quotes for on WhatsApp from various companies. When we came to check out Amainah Hotel said they had ordered a taxi and it was $700. $100 more than they told us. If if have known it was going to be more I would have just ordered from a taxi firm on WhatsApp for $600. I know it's not a huge amount but it was frustrating.

We were really pleased with our stay at Amainah. The hotel is situated on the lake front, and the rooms overlook the water. Our hotel room had a beautiful view and small personal pool on the balcony. We enjoyed relaxing in the shaded beds on the pool deck and sunbathing on the lounge chairs. The bartenders were attentive and always made sure we were good with food and drinks. We also had a great time kayaking and stand up paddle boarding on the lake. One complaint about the room was that the shower flooded the bathroom even if we were very careful to try to stop the water from spreading. To get to the downtown of Bacalar, you can either drive, taxi or walk about 2.5 miles on a hilly road. Bacalar feels like a backpacker town. There are lots of good restaurants and bars. We did some souvenir shopping here. A must-see near Bacalar is Los Rapidos, where you can float down the natural lazy river.

My wife and I just experienced one of the best hotels in Mexico that we have been to. We did two days in Tulum and 5 in Bacalar. We stayed at Hotel Amainah the whole time and what a stay it was. Every meal was delicious and well presented, prices were so reasonable and ambiance was very romantic and relaxing. Our room was so clean and big, the cleaning service was so nice and quick. It would get taken care of while we were at breakfast. I will say as beautiful as the hotel is, by far the best part of the hotel is the Staff. I am still struggling with my spanish and at no point did I feel left out or disrespected. Everyone is so incredibly nice and helpful, it was like they were just happy we were there, they were attentive to our every need. We seriously felt like royalty. The only other place we have felt like this was Thailand. When we first arrived the weather was less than favorable and was raining, a staff member named Edgar caught our attention and got us menus, drinks, and room service right away. We made friends right away and the rest of the trip he was right there like he could read our minds. I would get out lagoon from swimming and he would come right up "Mr. Peter would you like a couple beers, in a bucket with ice?" he would say. Not one beer, its like he knew I loved my drinks in pairs. This is one of the first reviews I have wrote, I just feel like a place like Amainah deserves the praise, and I want others to experience what my wife and I did. I cannot wait to return, thank you so much Amainah, Edgar, and Staff!!!!

Had a wonderful stay, all the staff were fantastic - in particular Edgar, Miguel and Angel - and the location is perfect! The lagoon is a beautiful place to swim and the free kayaks/paddleboards are such a bonus. The restaurant/bar area is lovely too with great food and brilliant cocktails.

Amainah is the must stay hotel in Bacalar - especially for those who don’t want to be around little children, want to be on the lagoon, away from town center but only a 10min taxi away love good food and great design. The hotel is beautifully contemporary designed boutique hotel made of minimalist concrete and warm woods. It has a beautiful deck area and dock that photos don’t do justice. The rooms were stylish and large with a great deck looking at the lagoon. The restaurant is amazing. Fresh tasty food with lots of options. We had every breakfast and lunch there and decided to have dinner in town. They also served up great craft cocktails.The waitstaff and bartenders were amazing and super friendly. Lastly they had their own dock, so we can charter our own sailboat directly from our hotel instead of going to the town dock and dealing with the crowds. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely stay here again!
