Our room, I think it was called the bioluminescence room, was absolutely THE most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. The bed was comfortable but the design of the room was just breathtaking in every way. The shower was a wow moment and our little small warm pool inside our room was the most relaxing and romantic feature. We spent time in it every night.
The breakfast at the hotel is so delicious, I still think about it!
This hotel is worth every cent. Do. It hesitate to book!

My husband and I loved our stay at this beautifully managed property. The villas nestle into the palm trees and wild life and native plants make it an exceptionally restful retreat. We arrived after sunset and had our breath taken away by the view the next morning. My massage by Anna was perfect, the food delicious, and the staff truly hospitable. We enjoyed being a little removed from the town center and relished walking along the beach to town just before sunset. Everyone comes out as the sun goes down, and there is a deep sense of communal joy. We hope we can return!

We had a wonderful experience at Villas Flamingos! We arrange the airport transfer through the hotel and it made arriving stress free, our driver was waiting for us as soon as we arrived, the ferry ride easy and the atv taxi on the island was ready and waiting once we got to the island. Check in was quick, they brought our bags to our room for us. A welcome drink would have been a nice touch, just a suggestion to the hotel.
We stayed in the cacao room which was gorgeous! It felt private, we had a huge terrace and outdoor shower and great ocean views. It was clean, had nice amenities (robes, bathroom toiletries, blowdryer, water), AC, and the bed was comfortable. We never used the jetted tub in our loft area, we really liked this room for the privacy and terrace. I thought the water pressure in the shower was great an we had really hot water.
The property was beautiful and felt well taken care of and clean. Every morning there were guys cleaning up the sargassum, they cleaned our room every morning and I saw them constantly cleaning and maintaining other areas of the property. We're on an island and it's not going to be spotless, that would be impossible with the seawater and sand. There were raccoons, iguanas and lizards, for the most part they leave you alone, I liked having them around.
The complimentary breakfast was tasty and appreciated. Service was super slow and unorganized but, we're on island time and you just have to ask for things multiple times. It was annoying a few times. I would say a few different options could be added to the menu, like a breakfast burrito would be good or Mexican pastries. Also, Mimosas are included with breakfast, it's not on the menu and there were a few other things I saw other people order that weren't on the menu like bacon and different beverage options. If you want it I guess just ask and see if they have it.
Lunch and dinner was also really good at the hotel. I loved the shrimp tacos at lunch.
I wish the hotel had a concierge service, we asked the front desk where to eat one night and they just told us that it was too early to eat. We tried to book a snorkel excursion and they weren't sure if it was still happening because of weather that was coming in; it then got cancelled and we weren't notified until I asked the front desk what was going on. It would have been nice to have a dedicated person (one who spoke English) to help with excursions and dinner reservations and such. Maybe it's because we're visiting off season.
Holbox was such a beautiful island. We loved the location of Villas Flamingos, it was so quiet and peaceful, only a 25/30 minute walk to town. It was so easy to walk to town, we had an amazing dinner at Viva Zapeto, Mandarina (at Casa Torgugas) and a great lunch at La Bamba and Holbox Magico. We took the bikes out and biked to Playa Punta Cocos and saw flamingos. The bike ride was hard, the streets have a ton of pothole lakes, we didn't take the best route there and we didn't plan it well but, it was a fun adventure.
Overall I'd definitely stay here again and totally recommend this to everyone who asks! Also, my partner proposed under the full moon at the resort and I turned 40 at the resort, both made this visit of ours extra special.

This was a really disappointing experience for us. From the advertising we had thought this would be one of the best stays on our trip but it ended up being the worst. We arrived to find the room quite dirty and dusty, stained sheets, filthy air con and the remote was black around the commonly used buttons, there was a general feeling that the cleaning had been lazy for a long time prior to our arrival.
The small hotel beach could have been nice but there was no effort at all to tidy the beach area. Huge lumps of concrete, litter and a huge build up of rotting, smelly seaweed. We spoke to the reception about the disappointment as having stayed at 5 other hotels during our 4 weeks in Mexico we thought that the comparatively expensive rate for the room didn’t make sense for such a mess of a hotel. The reception said that the sea weed was just from a recent hurricane. We were aware this was not true because we had excitedly walked over from Our other hotel to check the place out a few days before and already noticed the terrible condition of the grounds. Before the storm there was a build up. Not only do they never seem to bother to tidy the relatively small hotel beach but the whole area around the hotel seems to be littered with rubbish, junk and black bin bags. The build up of seaweed outside our Celio sea view room was so bad you had to climb over it in places. Other hotels on our trip sent staff out each day with wheel barrows and rakes and they had far larger beaches. This really accentuated the feeling of laziness at this hotel.
What’s the point in paying for an evening entertainer if the hotel is such a mess? Surely spend the money cleaning the place up first??
We complained and ideally wanted to leave and get our money back. The hotel gave us a bottle of bubbles and refused a refund. Honestly we didn’t want to stay and seriously considered loosing the money and moving back to the Casa Tortugas, the (fantastic) hotel we had been at for the 5 days before our booking at villas flamingos.
The food was not good.
The reception were helpful and organised with the transfer service.
The bar service was ok.
This hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the main town at night. They do have free bikes but the roads were flooded so we couldn’t use them. One positive was that one day we waded through the seaweed and used the free paddle board to go and see the flamingos about another 20 mins away from town down the beach. We would have much preferred a longer walk from Casa Tortugas though.
The experience at villas las flamingos was frustrating. As we checked out a young Dutch couple were turning up at the lobby. They looked tired having just got off a KLM flight and travelled all the way to Holbox. We couldn’t help feel sorry for them checking into this hotel.

This is the filthiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at!
Cons:
All the windowsill ledges were covered in dirt
The air conditioning remote controller was dirty
The walls were covered in cobwebs and dirt
The door handles were all greasy
The rugs on either side of the beds weren’t clean
The floor was dirty
The outside shower wasn’t particularly private and other rooms had visibility as you walked out
The beach is COVERED in seaweed. They tried to blame the hurricane however it was covered in seaweed beforehand. We asked a member of staff why they don’t sweep the seaweed up or rake the beach like other hotels on the island and he replied ‘there is no point because it just comes back.’
The breakfast was terrible and very slow service. Took 20mins just to get a glass of water
It’s on the quieter side of the island and is about a 20 minute walk along the beach to the main area (I understand some people prefer this)
PROS
Decent WIFI
Tip - please do not waste your time and money and avoid this dump. Stay at casa los tortugas instead

This is the best hotel in Holbox. Right on the beach with all the amenities you could want. The rooms are very nice and clean. The restaurant is good, but especially the bar on the beach is very nice and you can have a very good lunch there. The hotel has 3 small swimming pools with are nice but you're so close to the ocean that you probably won't use them that much. The reception will help you quickly if you have any questions. The town is ten minutes away by golf cart. So the hotel has a perfect location to relax and enjoy the nice town. I will definitely come back here again.

An unexpected, huge disappointment. I am a travel agent and did a lot of research before booking Villa Flamingos. I emailed the office enquiring about a travel agent rate or if they pay commissions to agents. They gave me a long email about choices and how to book. The prices they emailed were pricier than the website so I went to third party sites to phish around and also their site to become a "member" for better prices. I emailed a bunch of questions about different views and rooms and they were very slow to answer and answers were vague and confusing. I also used their automatic online front desk pricing system to see if prices were changing.
At long last, we decided to book a honeymoon suite and instead of 5 nights at Holbox, we booked 4 opting to stay one night near airport in Cancun before making the 2 hour drive plus ferry commute. The day we were leaving Cancun for Holbox my boyfriend got a call from Villa Flamingos wondering why we hadn't checked in yesterday and said we will be charged for that night. I'm sorry what?? He said we are scheduled to come today we will send our room confirmation to you. They responded to the email, "Okay all is set for you today, sorry for the misunderstanding."
We checked in and made sure that they would not charge us for that phantom night that they called my BF about. "Yes, no problem" Our room was lovely, incredible view, prosecco upon arrival, comfy bed, lovely indoor and outdoor showers. Staff was nice but service sometimes lacking, especially for a $600 a nice price point. The food was good, we enjoyed breakfasts and other guests were a mix of families and couples of all ages.
I had to reach out to the hotel a few times to follow up on the free one-way transfer you get when you book online direct with them. I noticed there were little errors and misunderstandings along the way due to language issues that we had to resolve at front desk. Still a lovely time with the most spectacular beach, sandbar and sunsets.
When we checked out i had to sign for two charges of $1481 ish they charged on May 1 and 2 for the full stay and I said, oh I believe I paid $1500 already (which would have been half) He showed me a piece of paper that showed zero to date and I should have checked my credit card.
Long story short when i was paying my bill a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a charge of $1660 from Villa Flamingos at end of April before our arrival. So a total of $4600 for 4 nights -- this is not the Four Seasons Dubai, people. I WhatsApp my contact who checked and said it was half of another reservation my BF booked but that we did not use -- the one that we were allegedly a day late for. My BF had no contact with hotel before arrival and has never received a hotel confirmation or any email from that hotel. I checked my email too and didn't have a second confirmation. Also, when we checked in why didn't they tell us or reconcile that my BF had another room booked? They knew his name. I pushed back and they maintained this is our fault and will not refund the money. They will, however, give us 50% back as a credit for a future stay. Absolutely unthinkable, we will never go there again and will let everyone know including my travel agent connections not to book it. Stay at Nomad or Ser Cassandra instead. I wish I had. This hotel is not an ethical business and their backend operations are shoddy and rife with mistakes. Many because of language barriers, delayed responses and no real business managers.
I wanted to write a glorious review and sadly, I'm now contesting this fraudulent charge with Chase and my recommendation is avoid this place at all costs. If anyone knows the owner please let him know his front office is a disaster.

Holbox is a great spot for a different experience. This Hotel was recommended to us and we could see why as the location is really excellent. It is almost the furthest from town, making it lovely and quiet, away from the road and noisy taxis! it also meant we did not suffer from the piles of seaweed along the beach in front of some of the other highly rated hotels.
The food in the restaurant was truly excellent with a really wide range especially at breakfast and lunch. With breakfast included, those people who enjoy a late breakfast and skip lunch will love this.
We did not bother visiting the small centre of Holbox. we drove through it on the way and it did not seem worthy of a trip back.
One small warning about Holbox. It is advertised as being vehicle or car free. This is really nonsense. Whilst it is fun to see that all of the roads are simply sand, there is continuous traffic of the open air taxis and motorbikes. If your hotel room is next to the road, you can expect to hear this all the time unless you are at the far end of town as we were.

Loved this hotel. It’s the perfect blend of quiet, relaxing, gorgeous, thoughtful design, lovely beach and walking, and close enough to town to walk along the beach to shops and restaurants. Restaurant is excellent, pools are lovely. We especially enjoyed lying in the hammocks next to one of the pools suspended above the tide when it comes in and watching the stars (we were lucky enough to see a meteor shower!). Also appreciated the bikes you can borrow. Don’t think twice about booking this hotel.

Loved the quietness of Villas Flamingos - it is out of the town but close enough to be able to walk in easily - also the hotel provides bikes which we made use of. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and although there was no hair drier, one was produced as soon as I requested one. We enjoyed the food we had in the restaurant, and breakfasts in particular were excellent and offered a huge selection. Staff were all helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately when we were there the weather wasn't great - strong winds and quite a lot of rain; this meant that what little beach might normally exist in front of th hotel was covered in rather smelly seaweed. However, on the plus side, at least we were away from town where most of the streets had become vast muddy lakes!

It was a great stay despite a bad start. Thanks to Carla for helping us change our room and upgrading us after some disrespectful guests used loud music at night. Note: it is formally forbidden. All guests signed the resort rules at check in. I would not mind up to 10pm or 11pm. But not after midnight.
Rooms are great, while for our 1st room a shelf under the sink of the very tiny bathroom would have been of help. I had to put my stuff in the toilet.
The balcony with the view on the sea is fantastic.
The food was delicious for both breakfast and dinner. Great waiters, thanks to Jesus and Alan.
There is no sand beach at that resort being at the end of the strand, I would say the minus point, but 3 pools, with a stunning view on the sea.
The advantage is it is quiet.
It is in front of the sand bank, convenient to reach and walk up to Punto mosquito.
All in all a relaxing stay, what we were looking for.
