The resort was beautiful and very well maintained. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our butlers, Alan, Omar and Gerson went over and above to accommodate all of our needs in a timely manner. They went as far as surprising us with a beautifully decorated room for our wedding anniversary. It was unexpected and greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our week stay.

Recently stayed at Ventus Marina in Building 23. Hugo and Alma were our butlers for the week. Their services were amazing! They both communicated daily with us to see if we needed anything and were always helpful and smiling. Big Thank You to Hugo and Alma!!

This is a beautiful family resort We have been members of El Cid for 22 years and it is always improving its services. The staff treats you like family. The food is delicious and the restaurants are great! We just returned after 7 weeks and we look forward to next year!

We had a wonderful experience, including incredible dinners, scenic views, and 24 hour butler service. We felt very pampered! El Cid is near the beach town of Puerto Morelos so we easily walked to the town and enjoyed the crafts and beaches there as well.

Pros: Beautiful resort, good food, great service. The food at all the al a cart restaurants was all very good, the plating top notch. Our favourite was A'akat and our waiter William, who we had each time ( we went there 4 times during our 2 week stay) was excellent, never trying to rush us and very attentive. Our butlers Ivan and Cali were awesome, only a txt away for helping us with dinner reservations or a ride to one of the many restaurants. Would highly recommend them. Also took advantage of of the dive shop (Aquanuts) on the resort , although not run/owned by the resort the owner and staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make everything as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. If you're looking at wanting a resort with close by diving ( as in 5 min walk to the marina), this is it. Cons A big disappointment was having to play what I call the "Towel Game". Even though there are signs everywhere that you're not allowed to leave towels on the chairs/loungers unattended for more than an hour, otherwise your towels would be removed, this rule is never enforced, thus if you want any chance a decent location, you need to be out 6am "reserving" your chair(s) with a towel. Drinks: of course all the drinks are included, but both my wife and found any of the "cocktails" very very sweet. I make a lot of my own cocktails over the rocks and frozen and they shouldn’t be that sweet, we tried asking the bartender or wait staff for a "less sweet drink, but to no avail. We also opted for the "Platinum Club" which was supposed to "top shelf" alcohol. They had some ( of course) very nice tequila, but their top shelf vodka was Absolute and their gin Tanqueay, neither of which I would consider top shelf.

Beautiful resort, fantastic food but do yourself a favour and don’t get suckered into upgrading to the Platinum package. No turndown service, fridges didn’t work in our “upgraded room”, took 5 days to get a fridge replaced with never being offered a room change. Didn’t even know we were to get turndown service until we met someone else with platinum upgrade. Had to ask for the robes in our room, and all the amenities. Weren’t introduced to our butler until day 2. Had to pay for wifi and it was a challenge to get connected at all and once in it was spotty at best. Higher end hotel that also does nothing with multiple guests complaining of out of hand partying at 1-4am (16 people complained that we found out about) noted several instances of 15-17 yr olds being served. Again, great food and beautifully kept resort but the platinum upgrade is a scam.

We had a most wonderful trip. The workers here are ALL so pleasant, friendly and go out of their way to help make each day nice. We especially enjoyed our butler team of Hugo/Alma!! They did an outstanding job of keeping in touch with us. My husband's birthday is coming...

We would like to start by saying that we went to El Cid with our eyes wide shut as part of a Princess Cruise line promotion. We had zero preconceptions or expectations. So this is from the heart since we don’t usually care to write reviews. Hospitality galore! It’s easy...

We would like to start by saying that we went to El Cid with our eyes wide shut as part of a Princess Cruise line promotion. We had zero preconceptions or expectations. So this is from the heart since we don’t usually care to write reviews. Hospitality galore! It’s easy to say the staff was nice, but they went out of their way on absolutely every occasion. If we asked for directions, they would simply come pick us up. One evening we even came back to a beautifully decorated room which caught us pleasantly by surprise. Since we cruise often, we expected the food to be similar. Well, it was not. It was so much better, from the different restaurants, wonderful menu selections to all the outstanding cuisines. With the help of our butler, we never had to worry about reservations as he always took care of our request(s). Top shelf alcohol and wines were readily available. Our butler checked in with us numerous times a day, providing reservations, rides, or special touches for the room as needed. The room was kept immaculate and freshened up twice a day. We took advantage of the wonderful pillow bar and beautiful scents provided by the resort. Although it sounds silly the thermostats actually controlled the climate unlike what we have experienced in Europe or on cruises. We used the spa daily and just adored the people working there. Saunas, steam rooms, dipping pools and couple massages were some of the very best. As for two gyms, we found the gym at the Ha to be our favorite. The pools were great and never overcrowded. The small bars were fun and we were introduced to a number of new cocktails. The ‘special’ Mayan dinner on the beach will always be a cherished memory for us as well as our Private Yacht and crew for the day. Both experiences were simply over the top. In closing, we loved our stay so much that we decided to make El Cid our new home away from home. Therefore, we signed up and became Platinum Plus members. We plan on going back at the end of this month to stay at the Ha and then we will be going to the sister resort location in Mazatlan for a couple of weeks late in the fall.
