To start off good the location is nice easy to walk to town from the beach. The roads do flood when it rains. We did get upgraded to a beach front which is actually across the street from the beach and not really an amazing view since the restaurant is what you are facing. The road in between made it a bit noisy in the room since UTV’s aren’t the quietest. Unfortunately there was more bad than good for me in the stay. At check in they ask if you want to add Service tip ahead. I don’t suggest it. The service was not great with very rude servers and no trained bartending. I’d recommend tipping as you go. Property and rooms- Not clean throughout with cobwebs in decor and mold in mini fridges. You can tell the rooms need maintenance and cleaning. The bathroom door needed adjusting it was scraping the ground. The bath towels were given to you moist. The towels at beach were stained badly. Bedroom pillows are very dirty. The bed sheets didn’t fit the bed. Restaurant- At breakfast there wasn’t communication. They didn’t tell you what items they didn’t have and just brought you what they did have. It was very inconsistent. Bread was stale daily. Food was served cold. The cocktails were also very inconsistent and not made correctly. Front desk- Ahead of the stay it was hard to get responses. Once you get to the property they were nice and welcoming. We had an emotional support dog with us and had to put a deposit down for her which was fine. They didn’t allow you to leave the dog in the room alone but also didn’t communicate this ahead of the stay. Beach- The beach area was kept clean. They didn’t really serve you at the beach chairs. You order at restaurant and they will bring to you but they don’t take order at beach chairs.

If you’re going to Holbox do not pass up on eating here at least once. Cesar grilled an amazing dinner. First night we had ribeye steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. Second night was octopus, shrimp, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. I was very surprised how well the meals turned out, especially the ribeye. Coming from an area with excellent steak houses I didn’t think they would be comparable. They definitely were! The waiters Will and Fer are amazing too. I will certainly return on my next trip.

The hotel is amazing, and the stuff is wonderful. Alberto ensures that your entire experience during your stay is magical. Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful! The staff went above and beyond, consistently friendly and attentive, making us feel warmly welcomed throughout our visit. The housekeeping team did an excellent job, ensuring our room was cleaned daily to the highest standard. We stayed in the presidential suite, which was incredibly spacious and offered a stunning view that we couldn’t get enough of. The hotel’s location is prime—perfect for those who enjoy walking and exploring the nearby center. It made getting around so convenient. A small tip: bring some mosquito spray, and you’ll be set for a comfortable stay. The morning breakfast was another highlight, offering a delicious and convenient start to each day. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommended.

I would like to take a moment to write a review and the service I received at Mystique Holbox. This resort is right at the beach... wonderful for couples and a beautiful beach. Walking distance from the holbox city abd so much to do.. so many restaurants. I was booked via Sunwing who did not book us appropriately what we asked for our trip. Sunwing refused to assist or provide us any service technically abandoned us in the middle of our trip. Alberto Fuerte who is a manager at Mystique holbox saw this and took matters in his own hands. He arranged a transfer on his own for us to Cancun Royalton what we originally asked. I was so impressed by his professionalism and timely responses. It's hard to find people like Alberto Fuerte who treats guests like guests not like a number. If I have to travel to Mexico again I will be going straight to Mystique holbox staying at the resort and enjoy the amazing beach.

Holbox is truly a magical destination, and we had one of our best beach holidays ever. I checked in with some hesitation after reading recent reviews but was pleasantly surprised by certain aspects of our stay. We enjoyed our time at Mystique primarily due to the excellent service from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to handle any issues. They provided great restaurant recommendations and efficiently arranged a tour for us. Our ocean-facing suite was spacious, clean, and featured a comfortable bed and a good shower. The in-room coffee-making facilities were a nice touch. We especially appreciated the two large outdoor spaces, including a private lounging area with sunbeds. The location was also ideal—close to the town center with easy access to excellent restaurants. Why Only Three Stars: Unfortunately, several aspects of the property fell short: • The common areas felt dated, poorly maintained, and quite claustrophobic. The bar/lounge area seemed poorly designed. Oddly, there were two elliptical machines placed there instead of in the gym where they belong. • The pool was extremely small and felt unnecessary given the beautiful beach nearby. • While the gym was well-equipped, much of the equipment was in poor condition and in need of repair. • Prices were high, which I understand is typical during peak season, but I expected more from a Marriott-managed property. The restaurant needs a good face lift as is the beach club which is stuffed full of beach loungers. Final Thoughts: Unless management takes steps to fully renovate and refresh the property, I would recommend exploring other accommodation options in Holbox. There are plenty of choices to suit every budget.

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in the Presidential Suite, and we had a wonderful experience. The room was beautiful - it was honestly too much space for the two of us but it made me feel very pampered. We ate our meals on the balcony, which has a lovely view of the beach and ocean through the trees in front of the hotel (the suite occupies the second and third floors of the building). We didn't spend much time on the private rooftop, although it did storm one evening and it was very cool to go up top and watch the wind and the waves. And of course we got some amazing pictures up there for the 'gram. The customer service was phenomenal. Jessica at the front desk took exceptional care of us. She booked two kayak excursions for us, and arranged all of the transportation that we needed during our stay. Hector was delightful and brought me a steady supply of pina coladas on the days that I spent reading and relaxing in the tents they have set up on the beach. The hotel was clean and housekeeping did a great job on the days that we needed them. One evening the thermostat started randomly beeping - I asked the front desk to have someone come check it out and they addressed it as though my minor annoyance was an all-hands-on-deck emergency, and the issue was fixed immediately. I ordered room service breakfast one morning and it was a bit underwhelming, but there are so many food options all over the island that we didn't have much need for food at the hotel since we wanted to try so many places. When I come back to Isla Holbox (and I plan to after this experience!), I will be staying at Mystique again.

This hotel and staff are the best you will find on such a small island like Holbox. The manager and his staff go out of there way to accommodate there guest. I sat down and read some of the reviews. You are impossible to please or you had to much to drink! This little boutique hotel is a hidden gem. My wife and I were there for 10 days. It was heaven! Walk either direction for great drinks and restaurants. Some of the best dining we had on any island.

We stayed for 4 nights at Mystique for a mini honeymoon and had an excellent time. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and the General Manager Ari ensured he checked in with us multiple times throughout our stay. Ari and his team provided us with excellent recommendations on the island and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was quiet, clean and had amazing beach access. We will be recommending the hotel to friends and family and would love to return!

We stayed at a different hotel but enjoyed the beach club, Mystic Blue. We loved our day there. The beach was clean, chairs were affordable and Gabino was wonderful. Service was top notch! I would highly recommend this beach club, the teepees are super cool too.

We just got back from a wonderful stay on Holbox, at the Mystique by Royalton. I can honestly say that I have never encountered a hotel filled with so many lovely people as we did at the Mystique! The staff is extremely hardworking & earnest and was genuinely invested in making our stay wonderful. We had some excellent meals in the restaurant & with room service, met awesome people from all over the world on the best-kept beachfront on the island (IMO), and got great restaurant recommendations for in town from the front desk staff - who ALWAYS remembered us by name every time we stopped by 😎 and also got us taxis promptly & on time several times. Ari, the General Manager, was a visible presence on property, and checked in with us throughout our stay. The vibe here is very laid back, barefoot casual, go with the flow 🌴 Have to say THANK YOU to Gabino, Jesus, Monserrat, William, Fernando & Carla for making our stay so special!

Heads up to anyone staying at Mystique for their upcoming trip: Do not use any services or consume anything on the hotel premises, even if they assure you it is included. We ended up with a bill for 160 usd upon check out for taking sodas, water and beer from our room refrigerator which we were told was no extra charge upon check in. We even asked the woman checking us in to clarify exactly what we could take; she told us the snacks and the liquor on the shelves above the fridge were an extra charge but the drinks in the fridge were included. Upon checkout we were charged for sodas, water, beer, etc that we took from the fridge. The same woman that checked us in looked me in the eye and said that she never said that to us. It felt like I was in the twilight zone. The general manager came out and argued with us about it for a bit but he was rude and unapologetic so we just paid it and left. A pretty good place otherwise, but I really felt like they were being scammy and I left feeling taken advantage of. Enjoy Holbox!
