Those are great but if you want to get away and listen to the ocean, it’s so great. Food is better than all the all inclusive spots. For sure stay here again. Beach is nice… a little rocky towards the water but still amazing walks on the beach.

STANDOUTS: Staff. Very kind and genuinely seem like they want to make your stay enjoyable. My wife and I would like to specifically thank David for his wonderful service at the beach during our stay. Truly grateful for his wonderful attitude, kind nature, and willingness to please. Rooms: Gorgeous, modern, elegant. Food. Delicious, beautiful and unique.
DRAWBACKS: Day 1 of our stay the beach and all related facilities were closed due to a private event. This equates to 3/4 of the property that we were not allowed access to. After traveling for a full day, we were looking forward to enjoying the Caribbean beach but unfortunately had to wait. The beds/pillows-dismal. Ended up rolling up a towel to sleep on, which was more comfortable than the provided pillows. No store for basic necessities. We used a delivery service to have sunscreen and other necessities delivered. Other option was to take a cab to the nearest store.
The hotel itself is small. 23 rooms. It is well appointed and very well maintained. Location wise, it is about 45 minutes from cancun airport and 15 minutes from downtown playa del carmen. The beach is beautiful, but reef-y. Not ideal for swimming but great for observing the tide pools and looking for sea shells. There are two pools, one on the rooftop and one near the beach. Both are small but very nice. Great for a dip with a drink and perfect for couples looking for a relaxing getaway. I would not recommend this hotel for families with young children.

What a wonderful hotel!!
We stayed for a week in a lovely suite, around 90m2, facing the sea with the jungle to the side and a jacuzi on the balcany. Everything was provided for in the room including electric blackout blinds which rose to let in the brilliant sunrise. The was a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries when we arrived which was left for us to celebrate our anniverary year.
What also made this wonderful was the staff who were so comitted to making our stay special, particulrly Claudio in guest services
The Roof Top Restuarant gave exceptional views of sunrise through to sunset and beyond, overlooking the infinity pool, whilst providing MasterChef quality food. The 2nd restaurant was closed, but the menu for this was also available. We ate at other restauants along the beach and away on our visits to antiquity sites.
We had massages, overlooking the beach, which were included in our reservation, as was our breakfast.
Special mention for Antonio who you saw working extremely hard everywhere and who was very chaty.
Overall a lovely holiday in a great place with great people.
Thank you all.

Excellent place and great staff. A few things to know before you stay here. It's around other small hotels all inclusive and there's not much else nearby. If that's what you're looking for you're in the the right place as the food and bar service is very good and more reasonably priced than the others. Say hi to the waiter Julio Zarazua muy simpatico, again everyone is.

This review is exlusively for the massage on the beach, as we were staying at a neighbouring resort and decided to give the beach massage a shot at MVNGATA.
THIS will be our new go to spa in mayan riviera! My husband and I got relaxation massages and they were amazing. My therapist was Lucy and she did a wonderful job, i get a lot of massages throughout the year and this one was one of the best ive ever had.
The massage area is up some stairs raised up on the beach, so the chatter of the tourists on the beach are muffled and you can just hear the ocean waves, which makes the location much better imo than the beach massages others are offering.

David at the beach and Hugo at the upstairs pool gave just that extra level of service. It’s hard to find help like that.
Highly recommend

The beachfront is nice too. They have comfortable loungers on a nice sand beach. A good mix of shade and sun. The ground level pool is just okay but the rooftop pool is stunning. Very nice and welcoming staff.
We really enjoyed our two nights here as part of our honeymoon on the Yucatan. However, be warned, the location is not great. You are sorta trapped here. There are other resorts around but they’re pretty much all inclusive and will not let others in, not even for the restaurants. Away from the beach the whole area is a walled-off maze and good luck walking anywhere.
Which is a problem because the Mvngata’s restaurant is just mediocre, although, it was fairly priced and the drinks were good. You can’t really go into the main area of PDC either because cabs are ridiculously expensive here (like more than in the US), and Uber etc are not allowed.
So the hotel is amazing but don’t expect to leave much. I would recommend stocking up on water (they don’t give you enough) and probably some snacks and so forth as well.

Great staff impeccable service
Fantastic rooms with great views
Great attention to details with food service
Ambience is as good as any 5 star hotel
Big ups to Rodrigo and Carlos and all the cleaning staff
An inviting entrance like no other.

First of all, getting there is an adventure in itself, unpaved bad roads, crappy looking surroundings, as soon as you get off Carretera Cancun-Tulum. You get to a closed gate, with large chunks of concrete pavement missing and a guy in an uniform will stop you and ask you what the hell you're doing there (every time you get there). You explain that you have a reservation, he looks in his journal, it takes a couple of minutes and he opens the rusty gates, that look like are gonna fall on your vehicle when you pass by them. You drive in and the yard is at best 50 feet wide and prolly 1500 ft long. The hotel is positioned in on the side of that. Park in the 10 car parking lot and check in. It takes 10-20 minutes, like they never had to check anyone in, they don't know what they're doing, or maybe they have a system in which they describe your clothing, face features, they guess what you had to eat in the last week and they have to write it all down. You get your key, go to one of the two small elevators and go to your room and if you paid $300 plus a night you get a pretty decent large room with a pretty view. Sinks were leaky, someone came and tried to fix one, we did't use is again for the time we stayed there. Five stars? Hell no, three, maybe a forced four. Food was mediocre at best, they tried hard, but ALWAYS missed the mark. Prices were comparable to a 2-3 Michelin stars restaurant!! You try to get to the beach, walk thru a very dark shaded area, with chairs and tables purchased from another hotel fire sale. Its all sandy and not very unpleasant. There is a pool on the lefts side, not very attractive. get to the front of the beach which is 20 feet of sand, everyone and their moms are walking by your beach chairs and the beach is unusable due to the large rocks in the water. In order to access the water, you have to walk 300-400 feet to the left and there is an opening in the rocks puzzle that will give you access to the deeper water. Bad geography, I guess! The next door property is a dump that some guy uses to store rusty, crappy useless trash. You stay at a higher level floor, that's your first thing to see. There is a pool at top floor, small, I think they have 5-6 lounge chairs around it. If your room is under the pool the pipes make loud scary noises at night that will keep you awake, pondering why you didn't drink yourself to sleep, or what the hell you're doing at this property. They try to keep it clean, to their credit. Our friends were very trusting and left their valuables in their rooms. A $6000 Tiffany diamond wedding band that the husband decided to leave on his night stand was taken. We reported it to the front desk and they had their game perfected. The maid walked in, saw the valuables, took whatever she wanted, called security and asked them to take pictures of everything. When we reported the loss, they had the pictures. It made us feel like they were communicating that if we were stupid enough to leave things out, we shouldn't be surprised that they're gone, while they were saying that their staff wouldn't do anything like that. Another friend in our party decided to get a massage and took their necklace off, set it next to the massage chair, finished the massage, left and returned 10 minutes later to retrieve their necklace. It was gone and nobody has ever seen it. Our friend was almost asking himself if he didn't dream that he had it on, listening to their excuses. I would never come back here again, I recommend to all to stay away. But, this was only my experience.
