Location wise was excellent, right on the beach, very nice layout and close to everything just a walk away. Can’t go wrong with that.
Now, this is a family friendly hotel which means one thing: a lot of kids, children on the premises. And this was a major minus for me since I usually book at a All Adult hotels. (Now I know why).- but that was my fault. There are kids everywhere, and if your room is next to the small pools, (like mines was) get ready to heard kids screaming at around 8am.
Rooms are nice and very very basic, no drawers to put away your things that you might bring in your luggage. There is a mini fridge which is a plus, and a safe that has no key access and no lock. I’m assuming you have to bring your own lock? We didn’t use it.
AC was very good and the ceiling fan did work. The restroom was a hit or miss, nice shower head , good water pressure, had bottles of body wash and shampoo that can be used. Clean White Towels. BUT there was an incredible smell of sewage in the bathroom, that we thought it must be coming from the septic tank. This smell would not go away. This was bothersome each time we used the restroom or shower. This has to be fixed.
Breakfast is super basic and it’s a buffet style, which means you have to self serve yourself. Everything . I recommend you go early to get your breakfast , because it does tend to run out as the morning progresses. Last breakfast we had, the eggs tasted kinda fishy, we don’t know if there was probably something on the grill or pan that had fish on it . We didn’t finish the eggs.. Honestly, I would recommend having breakfast elsewhere else on the island.
As for the beach chairs and beach bar, that’s another story, the chairs and sofas were almost always occupied, and this part of the beach is not the best, I know,because this is my 5th time here on the island . The nice part of the beach is heading over to punta mosquito. Obviously the hotels there are much more expensive.
Overall , the hotel is an OK place , not the best, book here if you can’t find anything else. And if you don’t mind that a pre-school is included in your hotel reservation. One thing we noted is that it looked like the entire hotel staff, from reception to the bar , it seamed that they didn’t want to be working there or was annoyed to be working at this hotel . No happy smiles, no nice greetings. I’ve worked in the hotel business for over 5 years, and I know that the client that is coming to our hotel must be greeted kindly and politely, always with a smile . That’s one thing that was missing here.

I can’t say enough good things about Holbox Dream Hotel. My boyfriend and I first stayed in November of 2023 and it was perfect. We fell in love with it so we went back September 2024. Both times the rooms we stayed in were spacious and clean with a beautiful ocean view patio. Housekeeping is on top on everything and there’s a small fridge for you to keep water and drinks nice and cold. Yes the water can be finicky although, it didn’t happens to us much on either trip. I think a big thing to remember is that the island still isn’t developed so the water system isn’t going to work the way it does in other places. We didn’t eat onsite so I can’t say anything about the food but what I can say is the staff is what makes this place so magical for me Javy is THE BEST. The second time we showed up he immediately recognized us and it felt like seeing an old friend. Truly, incredible service. Javy had our orders memorized! Never missing a beat. Refilling out waters, bringing us ash trays, watching our day beds while we would go swimming or take a walk. Gabby, Roxana and Ramiro were also amazing! Javy is our guy though! We looked forward to chatting it up with him every morning. The beach is perfect and clean. Yes it’s a bit in the smaller side but it’s one of the cleanest beaches. We love this hotel and staff!

We only stayed one night and our room had a water outage during the morning, so me and my wife could not use the bathroom at all, no shower, no toilet, no sink. I informed the front desk, but since we were in a rush there wasn't much to do....

I informed the front desk, but since we were in a rush there wasn't much to do. He just said "I will let maintenance know. but it is very uncommon that this happens"
It was very frustrating and inconvenient because we were traveling that morning.
Even worse, they did not offer anything as compensation even when we explained ehat happened and asked for a refund.
Apart from that, the hotel and the beach is not like the pictures. Very small rooms, the beach is not very good at this location, it is narrow with too many shells and rocks and seaweed. The best part of the beach is about 20 minutes walking from that point towards Punta Mosquito.

great included breakfast! The ceiling fan didn't work, the safe was inoperable in our room, but the staff was super friendly. great location and the beach area for the hotel was nice as well. the front desk staff was also very helpful during our stay.
The service, staff, and the place all in all was great. Would've loved it even better if it weren't for the loud music that was played almost the whole day. Beach was also incredibly clean. Also, food is okay but it was free so I won't complain. LOL

Fabulous hotel, fabulous location on a fabulous island. Loved everything here, Holbox is just gorgeous and this a great hotel. Sometimes hard to secure a sunbed, but overall its brilliant. Lots of great vegan options on the beach bar menu.

We arrived hot and tired and dusty from the walk (no we didn't take the taxi) from the ferry. Check in was pleasant and we were shown our room. I think their website pictures may be slightly misleading as the room was basic and smaller than anticipated. Also the aircon was off so it was quite warm. We quickly jumped to the beach/ beach club for sunset and was quite disappointed. The place was was too crowded with too many beds so close to one another and at high tide there is not beach, just waterfront. We had a nice drink during happy hour at 2 for 1 and there were well made.
It took a while for our room to cool down but did so about 2am. We slept pretty good as the place is very quiet. No one wakes until 7:30 8am because that is when breakfast starts. Breadfast was a B and the eggs and toast were very satisfying as was the fresh cut fruit. The beach in the morning at low time is quite pleasant. We learned to find the rhythm of the place, better to be in the pools in the afternoon, but beware there are tons of kids at this place and 2 young girls found each other and screamed job. Very high pitched screams. For that reason, I'm not sure we would stay again. We did rent a couple of day beds and had a much calmer experience.

Beach beds are way too close to each other and water during high tide.
Not really any coffee before 7:30.
