Would I recommend staying here. No way cuz rates will rise 😂

My girlfriend is hard to please and she said it was one of the best. The decoration is artistic and unique. The beach area is stunning and they have a brilliant musician they bring in some evenings. Can’t get his quirky music out of my head weeks later 😂👍.
Manager was a lovely lady from Barcelona. Probably the best location in Holbox. Close to happy hour beach bars where we loved the pineapple margaritas or mango cinnamon 😋
Thank you Casa Tortugas 🙏🏻

I think this is the best hotel on the island.
Pros:
It was clean and well kept
The beach was fine
The service is good & the staff were friendly and nice
Breakfast was good
Great location
Cons:
There were no do not disturb signs provided so we were woken up by the cleaner
No fridge
It got quite irritating when the bar staff would ask for a tip when they had only grabbed you a beer from the fridge
Each room should have their own foot bath as opposed to having to share one with lots of people (I found this quite unhygienic)

Our stay at the hotel was amazing.
The hotel has three restaurants and they were all great and made it easy for us to have lunch and dinner there conveniently, and offered great food with fresh ingredients.
The room was large and clean and the hotel offers direct access to the beach with comfortable beach beds and service from the hotel staff.
We really enjoyed our stay, but the most impressive part of our stay was the customer service. The hotel booked everything for us (we were communicating through WhatsApp) and made sure that everything we needed was accommodated for, including our whale shark tour, restaurant booking and taxi. They also gave us detailed advice and suggestions based on what we wanted to do on the island. We also managed to lose our phone and the hotel helped us track down our taxi and phone late at night.
They provided us with a great stay and we would definitely return in the future! We couldn’t have had a better visit!

The beach is great with nice and comfy sunbeds by the beach. The pool is beautiful.
The breakfast is really good and there is a nice selection. The restaurants are a bit expensive but the food is fantastic, we did try several dishes, they were all delicious.
The only little problem is the wifi that is a little weak if you need to get some work done.
It was a really relaxing few days after our Yucatan road trip. For sure we will go again one day.

Such a great hotel. Excellent beachfront, lovely design, friendly staff and walking distance to town. Only downside was the total lack of WiFi connectivity in our suite (Cacao) which had the upside of forcing us to unplug! Would come back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I stayed for 9 nights in March which is odd for us as we never take a beach holiday. But this hotel is pure paradise. It is quite unlike any other hotel we have stayed at in that it is designed to be almost an extension of the beach. Shoes are optional! The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and the food is outstanding - particularly breakfast. The staff are delightful - Carolina, the manager, could not be more helpful and her staff are similarly attentive particularly to name just one Fior on the front desk.
We will have no hesitation in returning next year.

Spent four days at this delightful hotel on the beach in Holbox. Excellent facilities, with comfortable beach beds, good beach restaurant and a great Japanese restaurant called Auma. Hotel organized two complimentary events during our stay. Sundown cocktails and nibbles at Auma, and an intimate Maya cocoa ceremony with a handful of other guests to celebrate spring equinox - which was a very special moment. A huge thank you to Flor and Narcelia at reception, and to Carolina for looking after us every day.

We were supposed to come here a year ago, and the place had a fire and was closed down three days before we were supposed to arrive. It’s back, and so are we. The rooms are incredible, the food is amazing and the location is perfect. It’s an easy walk to town, but feels like an oasis separate from all of the craziness of the surrounding beach. Acknowledging that it’s not a cheap hotel, and it is worth every penny.
Breakfast is amazing, fresh and good variety.
The beach “club” loungers are a place to lose a day.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Gluten-Free and Diary free is also easy.
Finally, they have a pretty dang good wine list for a place where wine is not the priority.

HOTEL
Before our stay in Holbox, we evaluate many hotels and decided for Casa Las Tortugas. It turned out to be the best choice! The hotel property is beautiful, directly located at the beach. The rooms are super cozy, clean and have a great island-vibe. The bed is super comfortable.
RESTAURANT
2 restaurants belong to Casa Las Tortugas: Luuma across the street and Mandarina within the property. Luuma has a chilled vibe with drinks and plates to share. We loved the bar area. Mandarina is located right at the beach, we enjoyed having breakfast (try the French Toast) with a direct view to the sea. The staff is very attentive, young and communicative. We loved both restaurants.
OVERALL
In our opinion the best hotel in Holbox. Great staff, very high quality island-vibe and one of the best locations in Holbox! Don’t miss this gem!

My spouse and I visited this hotel for a short getaway in June 2025. Leading up to this trip, I noticed a shortage of reviews, so I’d like to do my part to share more information and some insider tips!
Pre-Trip Communication and Transfer
Fernando did an excellent job with communications and confirmations. We booked our transport through the hotel and this was also very smooth. The trip from the CUN airport is 2 hours, with a 30 minute ferry ride to Holbox. Then a 5 min UTV ride to the hotel. The handoff from the transfer to the ferry to the taxi was seamless.
Hotel
This is undeniably a gorgeous hotel. If you’re looking for a totally “instagramable” location, this is it. Our check in was quick and we received a small glass of prosecco while Javi showed us around the hotel and our room. We love small, boutique hotels and the ease of moving from room, restaurant, beach. It is mostly open air in common spaces, with sandy walkways. All spaces are in good repair and very clean.
Room
We booked the “Owner’s Suite” aka Monarca. It featured a balcony with sitting area, and indoor living room space, bathroom, separate bedroom, and an upstairs terrace with loungers, plunge pool, and bed. The AC in the room was comfortable and there were multiple fans. The lighting in the bathroom is dim - take a lighted mirror. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom, but there is a window by the shower to allow some airflow. We do wish there was a small refrigerator available for this room type - it would have been nice to keep leftovers, drinks, etc cool. There was a small cosmetics fridge in the bathroom, which was unique, but it wasn’t working despite our attempts. Also, although we had a plunge pool in our room, pool towels were not provided, so we had to visit the front desk to request them for our room. This seems like a simple fix to just provide them for rooms with a pool. In a similar vein, washcloths are not provided at this hotel (which I understand is an “American thing”) however, something to be aware of as you are packing for your trip. Our room was cleaned each day and housekeeping did an excellent job. We did notice that our plunge pool did not seem to have a working filter. The water was completely still with no movement and dead insects collected at the surface (giving me flashbacks to covid-era backyard pools… if you know, you know). We did share this with guest services, and they said the pool was working fine, it just needed to be cleaned. So they did, but the filter never appeared to work and bugs and grime continue to collect.
Beach
The hotel offers plenty of beds, shade, and spaces at the beach. The beds are comfy and the palapa provided shade all day. Water is warm, calm, clean, and shallow. This was probably the best Mexican beach we have visited, besides Playa Norte. Food/drink service is provided at your chair, but it is infrequent. Typically, we would wait for 90-120 minutes between service. The resort wasn’t busy but maybe understaffed? We did just go to the hostess/bar ourselves to request service when needed. Beach towels aren’t provided at the beach - you need to go to reception to request.
Food
The included breakfast is indeed amazing! Coffee, juice, bread/toast, fruit/yogurt/granola, AND a breakfast entree. This was very well done. We also took lunch at our chairs a few days. The menu has more of an upscale vibe, which was unique and yummy, and we enjoyed all our meals… but sometimes when you’re on the beach, you just want some chips and guacamole ;) We found this nearby easily at other beach clubs. We also ate dinner one night at AMA, the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. This wasn’t as strong of a meal and the staff of 4 seemed very overwhelmed by the 3 tables of 2. The space was beautiful though, so go for the vibes.
Service
We love small hotels for the intimacy and because we can typically experience better service. If I could say one thing that this hotel lacked, it was genuine guest connection by staff. The service was fine, but it didn’t wow us like other places we have been. I’ll admit that for some travelers, this isn’t a priority, and that’s ok. If the hotel is looking to take its service to a higher level, they could encourage staff to remember names, remember repeat orders, remember rooms, acknowledge special reasons for travel (for example, an anniversary) — We enjoy feeling like we have been seen and appreciated as guests which is why we visit smaller establishments. Service was *fine* but it didn’t wow us like at other places we have traveled.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Casa Las Tortugas and with its beautiful surroundings and spaces, it’s clear why it’s a popular place to visit.
