We had a great night at Schooner’s bar celebrating my fiancé’s birthday! We had drinks and an appetizer and enjoyed sitting and chatting with friends. Sheldon and Jose were the best and took care of us all night. Highly recommend visiting and grabbing a drink!
Highly recommend the spa at Avila

We were on a Celebrity cruise and pre-purchased a day pass at the Avila hotel using the Whatsapp which took several attempts to book a day pass with the date, number of people, name, and e-mail. The hotel is in walking distance from the cruise terminal. Google said it was a 30 minute walk, but it took us 50 minutes in the heat. We checked in at the front desk with our credit card. It only cost $28 for the two of us for a day pass 8 am - 6 pm which included chairs and an umbrella. You need to bring your own beach towels.
We got chairs by the ocean which was in a sheltered cove. Snorkeling was amazing in the left cove. Water was warmer with less fish on the right side which was near the bathrooms and bar. No one came by to offer drinks, but the bar and restaurant were steps away. Food was reasonably priced for a beach side restaurant. Pay by credit card. It was a really nice, quiet, relaxing day and I liked there was no loud music.
The 50 minute walk from the cruise terminal to the Avila hotel was a safe walk down residential and with some businesses with some construction, so there were times when you needed to walk over the dirt or loose stone when the sidewalk ran out. You have to walk over the Queen Emma bridge which is drawbridge which separates and allows boats to pass through. It can take 15 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the boat(s) passing through so you have to factor that in to your time to walk back to the ship. People miss the ship because of the bridge. Coming back, the bridge did open with sections moving and swaying back and forth then the gates at the end locked even with people on the bridge. An announcement is made in Dutch and the bridge starts moving even when people are on it. The end of the bridge pulls away from land at an angle, so it can be a bit scary as you are on moving/swaying bridge not sure if you are able to get to land in time.

We loved the location of the hotel. It is not too close to the bustle of Pundi and the cruise port, but easy walking distance if you want to enjoy the restaurants and shops there. The hotel is not over-the-top luxurious if that is what you are looking for. But the rooms are very nice and large with balconies. Our room had a lovely view (411). The bathroom even had a bath tub which is a rare find these days! There are 2 beach areas with plenty of chairs and a beachside bar. The sunsets at the beach areas are amazing! The only issue we had was that the gym closed early one evening without notice therefore my husband missed his workout 🙄! The gentleman at the front desk kindly sent a bottle of Cava and fruit in return for the confusion. Very nice! Also, we did not think the breakfasts deserved the hype. Next time we will choose to eat breakfast somewhere else. We did not take any other meals there. There are a number of the best restaurants just across the street.

We stayed at the Avila for the most lovely 8 days. A terrific resort with terrific staff (Stephanie, Jennifer, Sheldon, Jesus, Abby - the whole team at the Schooner Bar! ). The breakfast buffet was great- best omelettes made to order. We loved the gym and workout area- great equipment. Enjoyed yoga classes and the beach circuit workout. Also available are Pilates, spinning, pool aerobics. The two beaches are great- the vibe all over is relaxing and elegant. Not for being g partiers which we loved. Awesome location with easy walking too terrific restaurants, in addition to the two restaurants on site. We walked to downtown several times. The Avila is also very clean and well maintained. In a word, we look forward to being back there!

Feb 7 Avila Beach Hotel
We stayed in the Oceanfront Blue Swing Room 288, second from the end. The room is pretty standard with a private deck overlooking the beach area. A few improvements would help: Needs a plug near a mirror, as the bathroom plug is for shaver only. Needs a sitting area other than the balcony. Also chairs on deck are not lounge chairs and they are not protected from rain. For a dry island, we had rain every day. We had a large empty space in the room with two chairs, a bench and a tiny table. Would have enjoyed a couch and table. Got a bathrobe by requesting one. Rooms on the other side facing west would have nice sunset view. We went up the tower, steps from our room, to view the sunsets. Lovely but there was wind every day. We had sun on our deck in the morning for coffee and breakfast. Wasn’t too busy or noisy. The Blues restaurant is a casual atmosphere and decor. The Pen restaurant is not cheap but the food was good. Snorkelling was decent for a spot right next to the hotel beach. The hotel does offer day passes to visitors or cruise ship patrons. There were some children but it was not overrun with kids and noise. The internet sucked so be sure to log in to the internet that needs a password, as outlined in the guest book that you can scan when you get your key. The employee who gave us the key only mentioned the free wi-fi that didn’t need a password. Many quality restaurants close by and decent grocery store within walking distance from hotel. There were enough beach chairs for everyone and we enjoyed not having to stress over finding a chair or having people put towels on their chairs at 7 am. This resort may not be the ultimate in luxury but it is relaxing and quiet. We accidentally left a speaker cord behind the tv and contacted them. They actually responded and we arranged to pick it up on a taxi ride to dinner from our next hotel. I was impressed they went to the trouble. Overall I was happy with our stay here and would recommend it for the private beach area and good service.

We stayed in the Blues wing with a lagoon and ocean view. It was awesome. Having our own private balcony right over the water listening to the waves. We did take advantage of a special dinner on the beach for my husband's bday as well as a couples massage.
We did the Bkues dinner on the beach. The chef made outstanding shrimp Tartar, lobster risotto and a mix of brownies ice cream and tiramusu for dessert. Christina our server was outstanding. The bartender (wish i had her name) made us a lovely unique drink. Well worth it for the experience.
We had a couples message by Vaynis and Naimonie. They did an amazing.job getting the knots out of my shoulder blade and my husband's hip. We walked away very relaxed amd rejuvenated.
This island and hotel will be our go to for future beach vacations. Lots more to explore on our next trip.

We have never gone to the same resort twice, but we will likely go back to Avila Beach. We had an amazing stay there. We stayed in the adult-only blueswing part of the hotel. The view from our room was great, the bed was comfortable, and the room was well appointed. The 2 beaches on-site are fabulous and have some nice snorkeling. The restaurants very close to the resort (5-10 min walk) were amazing. The restaurants on-site were not as great but were convenient. I felt the service was on point. We had a couple of issues that were resolved quickly and without complaint. They also have a rental car company on-site so that was extremely convenient. The walk to downtown Willemstad was further but doable. Admittedly, this is not the cheapest way to visit Curacao, but the conveniences, location, and beaches at this resort will bring us back.

We had an incredible stay at the Avila Beach Hotel! From the moment we arrived (and were greeted with a delicious drink in the lobby!), we were impressed by the warm welcome and excellent service.
The 2 beaches were absolutely beautiful with great snorkeling, and we loved having easy access to shade, sunbeds, and fresh towels.
The restaurants were fantastic, offering great food and a relaxing atmosphere. We loved starting our day with the wonderful breakfast buffet and watching the sun set over the ocean from the Schooner bar.
We stayed in a La Belle Alliance Oceanfront room and it was stunning! We were only feet from the beach!
Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and professional.
A special thank you to the amazing team members who made our stay even better:
- Jesus, Taisha, Marie, Galia, and Sheldon at the Schooner Bar were always welcoming and provided great service.
- Tysenne at Blues—wonderful hospitality! Thank you for the great chats!
- Julian and Rishainy at The Pen made our dining experiences special.
- RayMary at the Gift Shop was so helpful and kind.
- Abby at the Towel Hut was always friendly and made sure we had everything we needed on the beach.
The entire staff made our vacation truly memorable, so we have already booked our return visit! Thank you, Avila, for such a fantastic experience - See you again soon!

We absolutely loved the Avila Beach Resort! It was our first time to Curacao, and we loved everything about the island, and hotel. The lobby is gorgeous, the staff friendly - we had lovely drinks handed to us upon checkin. Our room was small, but had everything we needed. The yoga was great, the beaches are amazing and the best snorkelling we had while in Curacao. The Pen restaurant was also delicious for dinner, and the brunch buffet fabulous. Our favourite part was possibly the location... we walked everywhere, and dined at different restaurants each night. We are already planning a return visit:) I would definitely recommend this beautiful, historic, hotel to anyone visiting Curacao.

We recently stayed at Avila for 12 days - it was wonderful - the front desk was welcoming and responsive (Zachary) the Frontmen and Housekeeping were very friendly and efficient- the Kitchen is great all breakfasts lunches and dinners were delicious (Marchello and Freddy made the BBQ a total treat - Kevin at the omelette station started everyday off with a great breakfast)- the brunch staff in general was always pleasant and welcoming hats off to Aisheline, Nathanial, Carine and Julian in particular- Manager Farley was very interactive responding to all questions we may have had and was always a friendly face around the resort - our only disappointment came from the Schooner bar crew there to us seemed to be no urgency and little sense of service sadly (the lone exception there was Sheldon who was always attentive and professional - my wife and i love the Avila and will continue to return despite the bar there is too much to like at the resort - see you next year !!!!
