Service always amazing. Somewhat New Mexico rustic, but downtown and free parking and full breakfast. Always stay here.
If you don’t like the laid back slower pace, go back to where you came from. Love the laid back.
Rooms ooze New Mexico and we love it.

We love this hotel, and it has become our go-to whenever we are in Santa Fe. We stay in the main lodge. The beds are comfortable, the place is super-clean, and we love the sherry/biscochito hour each night. Del Charro, the restaurant on the premises, has one of the best red and green chile sauces in Santa Fe, and your room includes a full cooked breakfast each morning. We get free parking and can walk almost anywhere that we want to go. What sets this hotel above the most, however, is the staff. Every single staff person whom we encounter - from desk, to management, to parking helpers, to housekeeping to servers, are exceptionally friendly. We see many of the same people year after year, so the retention rate is a good sign. Everyone works hard and everyone seems to be on the same page about making guests feel welcome and special. We needed to change rooms when we added an extra night, and the staff took care of the move. This business is exemplary. We'll be back again and again.

Over the years we have stayed at several upscale hotels in Santa Fe. All were very good. This year we decided to go to the Inn of the Governors due to favorable reviews. From the outside the Inn had the appearance of an upscale motel. When we went inside we were greeted with amazing southwest charm!! The ambiance was fantastic. The first staff member we met was Richard. He greeted us with a smile and brought our luggage in from the underground parking and delivered it to our room. Every time we ran into Richard he had that genuine smile. All of our requests were immediately attended to. Bea, at the front desk was charming and very attentive. We requested our hot water to be hotter and it was looked after immediately. The Inn also includes a full breakfast (your choice from the restaurant menu) each day. The attached restaurant, Del Charo, was pure southwest charm with a roaring fireplace and a great bar. Another Richard mans the bar with great expertise. Try his Irish coffee. The Inn also gives you a fifteen dollar per day gratuity at the restaurant!! We will be returning to Santa Fe for our annual visit. We will be returning to the Inn of the Governors!!

We have stayed here several times. It is our go to in Santa Fe if we want to stay near the plaza. It is convenient to everything downtown, and the parking is free. We had a king room with a fireplace. They will light the fire for you, if you aren't comfortable doing that like us. The room had two comfortable chairs which was great for watching the fire. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows and linens. We were at the end of the hall and heard nothing outside our room--so quiet. I would definitely stay here again, but if you need an updated bathroom, then this is not the place for you. Also, we didn't like the vibe in the breakfast area and ate elsewhere several mornings.

The $15 daily food/drink credit at Del Charro (their restaurant) is on top of their complementary breakfast. FYI: their classic margaritas are perfect blend of sweet n sour! And there is a happy hour type gathering in the lobby most evenings.
Inn of Presidents is Santa Fe hospitality at its finest!

Inn of the Governors is our de facto “go-to” spot in Santa Fe. We’ve been visiting annually for several years now (this year we visited twice). Service is absolutely impeccable including housekeeping staff. The Inn may be dated but that only adds to its charm. The daily cherry and cookies, Del Charro, in-room kivas (fireplaces) and prime location make IOG any authentic Santa Fe experience. The fact that IOG is not a flagged hotel makes the experience more unique. Thanks again and we will see you next year !!

Nice, refurbished old hotel in downtown Santa Fe. We enjoy staying at hotels that are part of the historic charm of cities. The rooms are clean. Our room was a King w/Fireplace. While we didn’t use the fireplace, we could smell the wood burning from other guests.
They did what they could to make it right

When we first entered our room, it smelled smoky. We dismissed it because the front desk clerk warned us how we must follow all the rules on how to start a fire, or it could be a real issue. The room was fine. Issues we dealt with: lukewarm eggs and coffee, cold french fries, terrible wifi for apple computers and phones, and the last night of smoky downdrafts where our clothes wreaked, and we barely slept. Also their parking lot has tiny unnumbered spaces, so if they are full ,it is extremely difficult to find a place to park.
BUT what I want to say is they were very understanding and gave us a major discount on our stay which we appreciated greatly.
Would we stay there again? NOPE. But we do appreciate they really listened and tried to do right by us.

We really enjoyed our one-night stay in a Superior King Fireplace room. It had been highly recommended to us by friends, and they know we have La Fonda standards--meaning we stay in that historic hotel routinely, for the service and quality. Gotta say, this inn, superbly located near the Plaza, does a great job because of its management and amenities, all at a very reasonable price
The breakfast choices were really good. We also had lunch there and enjoyed it. The best aspects were: lovely room, good bedding, quiet enough even though in the heart of everything, free parking. Terrific location, easy walk to shopping and restaurants. There's a lot to be said for this inn, which knows its strengths and is well staffed. Will be happy to stay here on future SF trips.

Great Staff, All were helpful, pleasant and professional. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Most of our interactions were with the front desk. They made special arrangements allowing us to change rooms do to a particular need that we had. At one point I was walking through the lobby with my coffee which had cooled off so I asked about a microwave. The gentleman behind the counter took my cup, dashed off to their kitchen and returned shortly with my hot coffee.
great location, walking distance the plaza and all the other great sights of Santa Fe

We stayed here for 2 nights during a Texas and New Mexico road trip in march 2025 and found it to be one of the best hotels we stayed in throughout the holiday.
Location is great, a very easy walk to the middle of Santa Fe and all the attractions and eateries there. As we are from the UK I am always rather nervious about boooking accomodation in the middle of a City as this means contending with City traffic while driving an automatic and driving on the wrong side of the road with different road rules, however the traffic in Santa Fe is light and the roads easy, so location for driving to is fine also.
The hotel infrastructure is well maintained and welcoming - lovley lobby area and very clean hotel throughout.
Lots of free parking - a real plus.
Rooms - again great - pleasant local design and everythig worked really well - Wifi Water TV etc etc.... no dramas at all.
Downsides - breakfast staff could be happier / more welcoming and some bizzare insistance that you tick a box on arrival about penalties for not bringing animals into your room (Our dogs, which would have loved this hotel, couldn't get on the airliner so they went without on this occasion. We didnt want to buy a Llama or goat or anything while in New Mexico, so they went without also....) but these are small things. (Our dogs aren't small - Baxter is huge - the issues are small - not the dogs). Im not sure if there has been a spate of wilderbeast smuggling or badger ingress in the rooms this box ticking is designed to combat.
Kenneth (We are fairly sure that was his name) on reception is fantastic. Informative and welcoming, the model of what a hotel reception manager should be. Takes the time to explain stuff to curious foreigners and expand on local history, which is what travel is all about......
All in all we loved this hotel and if we are ever in New Mexico again this will certainly be our accomodation of choice in Santa Fe.
