As always, my visit to Desire is one of the best experiences I can have. From the moment we arrive, everyone is very friendly, the facilities are getting better and better, and the staff's attention is beyond words, and I couldn't complain about anything. However, this trip, there are some things that need to be changed: Food: The Mexican buffet has nothing Mexican about it other than tacos and desserts. Before, they served tamales, posoli, and more varieties. Now, they only serve non-Mexican salmon. Entertainment: The music at the pool party is good, but they should change the songs every week and not reuse the remixes. At the foam party, the DJ always plays non-danceable music and mixes genres that are completely different. Someone should listen him before playing. The playmakers do an excellent job as always, they work very hard every day, if you go to Desire you have to meet them but be careful with Alex "mango" who talking with other guests, that guy kisses the ladies, he paints the "papaya" on them at night neon, he doesn't have the attitude of a playmaker, I hope they fire him, the next time I go I don't want to see him near my wife

Our room was cleaned and organized every day which was awesome since we were in and out and doing so many outfit changes. I wished for more counter space in the garden view room but isn’t a deal breaker.

A vacation experience like no other! Always a wonderful experience at RM. The amenities and entertainment are top notch! The pool and bar staff are so friendly and attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. We absolutely love Manuel, Eduardo, Africa and Celso at the pool bar. The butlers are always checking on us making sure we have everything we need for the day. Jorge, Roberto G and Abel helped accommodate making dinner reservations ensuring a great visit. The Playmakers, Mango, Pina, Babi, Layla, Marianna, Felix, Carmen and Bam Bam brought the energy during the pool games and evening entertainment. Waitstaff at all of the restaurants were prompt and attentive to all of our dining needs. Our drinks were never empty and food quality was excellent! Highly recommend this resort!

This was our second trip. Stayed for 12 days and although we had a great time, definitely feel that on this trip there is room for improvement. Areas for improvement: - food (cold) - need more wait staff - room service didn’t arrive - we provided feedback to the Premier Sales team and were told we would hear from customer service/experience - we never did - Premier customer experience (via email) is like a black hole. We emailed several times and never heard back. - We had to track down someone to give us the sales presentation (despite emailing Premier and asking for it). We shouldn't have to ask for them to sell us on buying in?! - Its a clothing optional resort, yet on this trip ~70-80% wore clothes. - You’re paying ~$1000/day. You expect to get what youre paying for The great: - its a great place to reconnect as a couple - there is a freedom to being at DRM - our butlers, Roberto, Abel and Jorge were wonderful! Great people. Always willing to help and go out of their way - our waiter/server at the quiet pool was run off his feet but so very attentive. We really appreciated him. Thank you Edmundo!!! - The sommelier, Arcangel, was very knowledgable and treated us well. At checkout we provided our feedback to the E-Concierge Josette. Nothing was written down or captured so were not optimistic that the feedback will be actioned. We felt placated not heard. Kind of “we have your money, thanks for coming“

We did our first visit Sep 2023, then one year later in September 2024, I got to experienced the classic Desire and the new expanded one. I enjoyed my both visits. In my first visit I experience the novelty of the sensual vibe in the hotel and I loved it, I got to experienced with my partner new things and left hotel with a sensual feeling that lasted several weeks My second visit I was not new anymore, and I knew what to expect and we were more prepared, we meet fabulous couples and my partner loved it the second time. Service was great, food was good, and the new expanded facilities were also great. One thing to note is that the playmakers are the cherry on top, and they make a difference: Ilse is a beauty in the inside and the outside, she is really great, Kevin as well was great and fun. We learned but left early 2025, which was a real shame. My only message to Desire management is please take care of the playmakers showing they made a difference, they are really important to make the experience a unique one, we will miss Ilse and Kevin a lot in our next visit this coming march

Recently returned from a quick 1 week stay at Desire Riviera Maya. As always it was a pleasure to be a guest, from the moment we were checked in by the smiling Litsy to the time we had to ask Arcos to load our luggage in the taxi. Arriving only 7 weeks after our previous visit there were big changes in the Playmaker line up but with some big characters leaving has opened the door for others to shine. Pina gets better each trip and Jorge seems to have really settled into his role also. The same outstanding staff members as always and too many to mention but Yasmin’s kindness seems to know no limits. Fabiola really is excellent at her job & Andrea too really took care of us in the lobby bar at night. DJ Mauro was above & beyond all the other DJs, although I do feel the lobby bar music was much better this trip. Great to see a shift away from the painful wedding music & 80s soft rock and start to venture into something more modern. Our room in the Eden side is such an improvement on the old side rooms that we can’t ever go back. All the boys manning the bar (plus Jenny) were on point as usual, it’s hard to ever achieve an empty glass at this place ! Leo was entertaining as ever bossing the VB court. I really hope the resort continues to evolve and attract new blood as it’s great seeing the changes that Eden has brought about.

We are finishing up another great week at Desire Riviera Maya, and cannot say enough about how much we have enjoyed our vacation here. Our room was beautiful and so well maintained. The food has been incredible. Twice this week we were treated to fresh grilled lobster, shrimp and tuna for lunch. The quality of the pastries at breakfast are on par with some of the best bakeries we have enjoyed, and the quality and variety of dinner options made each night special. The F&B staff provide excellent service, and have been especially helpful in accommodating my wife's gluten allergy, and Celso and Eduardo at the poolside have been so attentive everyday. It is the genuine caring and friendliness of the staff that makes this resort so unique. Our butler Daniel has checked with us everyday to ensure that any reservations or requests were arranged, and the rest of the butler team has supported these efforts to ensure we were well taken care of. Antonio and Cesar and the rest of their team ensure the poolside amenities are impeccable, and as always the playmakers have been incredible. We have really enjoyed the addition of Bella's warm energy to the team. Thank you again for an amazing escape.

We went to Desire for the first time and stayed 2 weeks. We had a room in the old section with a balcony with a wonderful view which overlooked the "quiet pool" and the shore. The nighttime lighting is magical. We had a great time. The resort is beautiful, the food is excellent no matter where or what you ate! The staff are absolutely amazing, so attentive and friendly. The entertainment group is fun and they each are wonderful. I especially liked Bella and Mango. We enjoyed the different atmospheres around the spicy pool, the quiet pool and the beach side. Some downsides are: 1 - the sales emphasis and the 2 different classes of guests, where premium guests get first choice of everything and often reserved seats go empty while others stand. 2- the hot tub is too cold at night to be enjoyable. This was actually a big disappointment for us as we have a before bed not tub daily at home or on holiday. It is heated nicely for the 4:40 to 5 pm window, but seems not to be heated again when people want to use it later (11:30 to 2 am). 3- the gift shop prices can only be described as "a rip off"! Don't buy anything here if you can avoid it! We enjoyed our visit and may visit again, but it will only be occasional.

Sensual, sexy, and fun all wrapped into a five star resort! The attention to detail is above and beyond, but the staff takes it to a whole new level of luxury and service. Every morning we would get our coffee from Elizabeth and before we would even sit down she knew what we wanted and our names. Andrea, the hostess, always greeted us with a beautiful smile and treated us as if she’s known us all our life. G, the Butler made sure that every day we had whatever we needed before we even knew we needed it. Dani, the pool guy has been there 17 years and you would think it was his first day on the job with his enthusiasm to make sure we got the best seat at the pool. I don’t recall everyone’s names, but there was not one bad experience in our five day stay. The food was delicious. The playmakers made pool time fun every day! This was our first experience at Desire RM and we’re so impressed we became members, can’t wait to go back in August! Can’t recommend this resort enough if this is your kind of place.

We want to go back again for a 2nd time this year. We were nervous booking but after going, we both agreed that every couple should come at least once. It's perfect for both couples who like to just relax and be on their own with some good entertainment, or couples that like to party hard.

The staff friendliness always impresses me. Leo and Pina were the highlight with volleyball everyday! Carlos, Daylon, Edmundo, Africa, and Eduardo were phenomenol as bartenders and wait staff! Jorge was great with late night pizza service! We enjoyed the spa and our massages!

We are regular Desire visitors. We love the place!! In the last 18. Months or so, the new Eden part of the Riviera Maya resort has opened and it is absolutely stunning! The rooms are beautifully appointed with shiny tiled floors, smartly placed wall mirrors and “fun furniture” - the whole effect is sexy and fun. We loved hanging out with friends around the new pool cabanas on the Eden side of the property even if the music does sometimes become overwhelming to the point of preventing easy conversation ! That said, the pool playlists were generally great to dance to - my wife spent plenty of time just doing that! The new nightclub and upper level hot tub is now fully open and is where the crowd - and the party moves to as the sun sets. The facilities are superb - a real success. The new restaurants are fully open (though not always open!) and both Eros and Khalo provided terrific dishes when they operated. Not sure of the reason, but with a near full resort it was odd that not all restaurants were open to serve the demand; the buffet was good but not necessarily where folks choose to eat; many folks commented on this. The new gym is work in progress and still feels very much under construction, though reasonably well equipped. Nighttime entertainment did not quite “jive~” for us this time. Theme nights are always great fun, but the key hour when folks want to get the evening started by dancing and mingling, included on a several nights music to which it wasn’t possible to dance to - eg a cellist (albeit very talented) no matter what music is played as backing - is hard to dance along to. The live band got the tone right - live music, dance and rock, dance floor full. More of this please!! It would also help if the “evening show” did not mean that (on one occasion) the dancing had to be stopped, a short act performed, and then the dance reconvened - only to be stopped again for a second instalment of the show. This needs re thinking IMHO Both Pool Parties rocked! The Playmakers team was depleted and we definitely feel the lack of fun, engaging femal playmakers to star alongside the boys. Of course, one thing which never changes at RM is the quality and genuine friendliness of the staff and we would like to call out a few names who made our trip special: Carlos, Jonathan, Abraham, Edmundo, Manuel (bar team) Africa, Emir, Fabiola, Jasmine, Eunice, Elenor, The pool guys and towel guys provided their usual slick and smooth service Our Butler Raphael was his always hard working self. Just returned from a very nice week at RM. The resort has gone through some changes since adding Eden. Some good some bad. Butler service is hit or miss if you stay on the old side. We usually had to track one down for dinner or spa reservations. The night time shows are a mixed bag. The sexy dancers are anything but. The acrobatic shows are good. One rainy night the show was moved to the disco. A lot of guests stood up by the dance floor which made it impossible for the people in back to see. I put this on the rude guests. The late night pizza and BLT's are still great. The raccoons still want a handout. The breakfast buffet and omelets were good as ever. The poolside grill was just ok with burgers, tacos, fried and grilled shrimp, fried and grilled fish. We ate there one day. The other days we ate lunch at the old lunch buffet. The choices and quality there were very good, probably the best in our 13 years. We did not eat at Kahlo or Eros. We ate at Suki and Sahlo a couple times each. Both had new menus since August. We enjoyed our meals there each time. Only complaint were Sahlo only had one dessert choice one night, and it wasn't lava cake or creme brulle which are our favorites. The waiters were great at keeping the tequila shots coming. We did attend the members' dinner, which was awful. It was suppose to be surf and turf. The surf was some type of shrimp mash and not good. The turf was a filet. Probably the worst steak ever at RM. It was so tough you could hardly chew it. We ended up not eating it and went to the buffet which was way better. Have to mention Eunice, the night time matre d. She is sweet as ever and very accommodating. The Playmaker have had a big turnover. There were many new hires, but they will catch on in time. Javi and Pena did a great job. Babi was sweet as ever, but could not be in the sun due to a personal issue. Leo was awesome as usual at water sports. He and the Playmakers played volleyball twice a day, even in the cold rain. Such dedication. We had the chance to meet Alejendro, the new night manager. We expressed some of our issues. He genuinely listed to us. He even had a butler and a chef come and listen. Because of Alejendro, we had virtually no issues the last couple days. G was one of our butlers. He is definitely a standout. Unfortunately he was on night shift when we don't really need much. He did forward on any request we had to a day butler. The butlers have started using Wassap, so you can communicate with the if you don't see them. Our room was a superior garden on the old side. It was spotless and had no maintenance issues. The hot tub bartender (sorry I can't remember his name) was outstanding. When he would see us getting undressed, he would have our usual drinks waiting at the bar. The wife had 2 massages and a facial (the normal kind) at the spa, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We have been coming to RM for 13 years, and will continue to visit. We have seen RM have ups and downs. I believe it will take a little time to fully integrate Eden and the old side. In the meantime, for us, the upside is still worth it.

Before you read this constructive criticism, please keep in mind that we'll be back, as we really value how unique and fun Desire is. We hope that Desire will continue to improve and meet the standards of a 4-star resort in 2025 and beyond. MISLEADING PRICING & THE GUESTBOOK CASH BACK PROGRAM: Let me be crystal clear about the pricing deception (using $1,000 for illustrative purposes, though we actually paid significantly more). They advertise a 5% cash back program, but here's the reality: We paid $1,000 total, but they only applied the cash back to $462.50 (base room rate), giving us $23.11 back - that's just 2.31%, not the promised 5%. Even more concerning, they charged $537.50 in "taxes and fees" - a 116.2% markup over the base rate! This needs to be transparent upfront. The Guest Book program has been notified and is looking into it. ROOM REALITY: The "suites" are misrepresented. What you actually get is a large room with a Jacuzzi placed in the middle. This doesn't meet true suite standards by any luxury hotel metric. The Jacuzzi is more of an inconvenience than an amenity - it requires heavy bleaching that leaves a strong chemical smell throughout your stay. We had to request no cleaning to avoid the daily bleach odor. NOISE ISSUES: The building's design is fundamentally flawed. The hollow, open concept creates a sound tunnel - bass from the pool music and communal Jacuzzi literally makes your room vibrate. Even as party enthusiasts ourselves, we couldn't find peace when needed. This wasn't an issue in the old RM section. INFLEXIBLE POLICIES: Despite being premier members, early check-in was impossible (we repeatedly heard "come back in an hour," then "20 minutes," until it became 3 PM). We obtained a late check-out only after having to argue. Their management seems stuck in outdated practices, with endless approval chains for basic requests. They're clearly aware of these issues but choose not to address them. An AI system to regulate arrivals and departures and cross-reference it with the room cleaning crew would be beneficial. POSITIVES: • Newly renovated facilities • Improved reception area • Large communal Jacuzzi • Spacious pool • Better dining venues • Enhanced nightclub • Awesome and playful people PERSISTENT ISSUES: Year after year, basic service items remain problematic. Simple requests like getting spoons at breakfast or salt and pepper during meals are unnecessarily complicated. Another ongoing issue is the localized, lingering sewage-like smell around (we believe) unit 1702, likely due to its proximity to the cleaning facilities, pipes, or something similar. We stayed there once and had to move due to the pungent surrounding smell. I don't understand why this hasn't been addressed. Nevertheless, we tried to take a different path whenever we remembered. We wish the staff were more forthcoming with guests. It seems that most staff members either tell half-truths or are hesitant to provide contextual information. RECOMMENDATION: While the renovations show promise, the pricing deception, noise issues, and inflexible policies make it hard to recommend, especially for the premium price point. Consider the old RM section instead if you value peace during rest times. Management Response Needed: Please address the misleading cash back program and explain the 116% markup in taxes and fees.

Great time the entire week. This was our 2nd visit. What made the trip special was the staff. Andrea our hostess and server in the evening was outstanding. Her positive attitude and her attentiveness was such a pleasure. Edwardo was our pool server for the week, what a great guy and always went above and beyond for us. Elizabeth the barista is simply amazing. We only met her one time 3 months ago, she not only remembered us, she remembered our specific coffee requests. She is the best. And for the butlers, Alejandro, G, and 1 other whose name escapes me are so attentive, it really made the trip special. Thank you to this great staff.

There are a lot of new hires and we were happy to see the veterans still work there (Carlos night bartender, Danny by the pool, Chris bartender) Ever bartender, Jorge from pizza bar!! We absolutely love it here. We arrived early in the morning, so our room wasn’t ready yet, but our requests for extra blankets and hangers were promptly fulfilled when we were able to get into our room. This is our second visit since the expansion, and we’ve been to Desires more than 40 times. Over the years, we started with 5-night stays, gradually increasing to 10, sometimes even 12 nights. Since we work remotely, we try to leave the room by noon. The expansion is modern and nice, but it does change the vibe. We miss the quaint, intimate atmosphere that existed before the expansion. The old lobby bar is now a coffee bar offering a wide variety of coffee flavors. Elizabeth is awesome! A nice touch is the addition of bagels, light sandwiches, and fruit. We also enjoyed the “quiet” pool area when we needed some downtime. It took us a little while to adjust to the new restaurants and the flow of the day and evening, but we must say, the music around the pool has definitely improved! We love having dinner at Shalo because it’s quiet and intimate. We do miss Chef Anna, though. Since we stay for a while, we also get the chance to eat at Suki, as well as the new restaurants, Eros and Kahlo. Elana is a wonderful maitre d' at Suki. Hector, the new maitre d' at Shalo, is learning quickly. Our waiters—Roger, Israel, Jussif, Elvis, Celso (butler-in-training), Domnie, and Jorge—are efficient and attentive. Guadalupe is a fantastic maitre d’ at Kahlo, and we love being served by Mario and Ivan G. For lunch, Eunice and Yazman are always friendly, welcoming, and genuine. They know where we like to sit and always remember us. Our waiters, Julio and Patricia, are both wonderful. We’ve also had great service from Angel, Eduardo, Manuel, Emir, and of course, Africa! Angel and Africa are always moving nonstop around the pool, ensuring we never run out of cocktails. Ines is quietly busy cleaning, and you’ll find her everywhere—from lunch to the lobby area to the disco. The towel attendants—Danny, Mike, Iker, Miguel, and Antonio—are always friendly and make sure our beds are ready every day. They take the time to greet us by name and ask how we’re doing, showing they genuinely love their jobs. The butlers—G, Raphael, Abel, Daniel, Victor, Ceasar, Jorge, and Lafrance—do an amazing job of ensuring we have everything we need and taking care of our reservations and requests. It was great to see our bartenders—Abraham, Joel, Jonathan, Edmundo, Jorge C, Carlos, Luis, Alberto, Gustauva, Miguel, Jesus, Andy (at Premier), and Ivan V. Jesus makes excellent espresso martinis, and all the bartenders work hard while still having fun. The new menus have been fantastic, and we’ve enjoyed trying a lot of great dishes. The food presentations are beautiful, and we truly appreciate the effort the staff puts into pampering us. Room service and turndown service are lovely touches as well. Our housekeeper, Patricia, always does an excellent job! The grounds are always pristine, and they spray for bugs in the evenings. The sunrises are peaceful and beautiful—this truly feels like our little piece of heaven. We would love to see Kahlo transform into either a steak or Italian restaurant, as the view is absolutely gorgeous, and the place often seems underutilized. Additionally, we think it would be great if Sahlo could adopt a more Mexican-inspired flair. We will see you in May!

The playmakers were a real pleasure to meet and worked hard to provide a great experience no matter what your choice and comfort level. The guests are the other reason it was such a special week. We met some of the most genuine, friendly and kind people. A place to return. No doubt On the other hand the beach was not great. Full of seaweed, narrow and short. The beautiful garden and pools made up for that.

Elizabeth on reception greets you with a smile. Antonio at the pool remembered me by name from 6 months earlier, and Dani is there to help with a smile every day. Africa, Edmundo, Manuel, Axel, Daylan, Gustavo, Abraham, Carlos (and so many more) work tirelessly at the bars. Eunice and Luis help with restaurant bookings; nothing is too much bother. Luis in the spa has the midas touch. Daniella on the Cruise team is amazing, and like an old friend, anyone that convinces me to take a cruise is also a fine saleswoman. Special mention to my amigo Jorge the butler and 'her Jorge' at Suki and the night snacks; you guys are the best. Then there's the people you meet. You will make new friends for life. At Desire, you get back 10X what you put in; make the effort, and you will be rewarded in ways you never imagined. No other resort will ever feel the same. See you at Halloween!

We had a great time. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. We met ArchAngel on this trip. We had great conversations with him about wine and he suggested some really nice wines for our dinners there. If you need a wine suggestion, find him.

I went to the buffet everyday at lunch and loved that they changed what was served everyday. I booked a table with the hibachi chef and had the best time ever. Jesús was hilarious and I recommend trying the hibachi out. I felt so free and accepted at Desire. Everyone who works there are so friendly - Aura, Angie, Jesús, Vanessa, Rosy, Arely, Ulry-and everyone else really made my stay very comfortable and easy. Huge shout out to Jorge, one of the best staff members there who serves the late night party goers until 4am. I love that this resort has food available after midnight. The Playmakers were so much fun and did such a good job at getting everyone involved in activities and on the dance floor - Bella, Pina, Mariana, Bam bam, Leyda - thank you so much for making my stay so memorable! You guys rocked!! I will definitely be back!

Was told if you’re a premier member it wouldn’t have been a problem at all. Main pool closes at 7pm so people could go to the hot tub. I would have rather stayed in the pool so we passed on the hot tub. We were told by many guests/workers that with the expansion of the place other things/areas have really gone downhill. We’re glad we didn’t know how it was before to not be as disappointed as our friends we went with who were. The only “GOOD” thing about this place was our company and the Playmakers! They had us looking forward to the games/entertainment! Mariana, Leyda, Bam Bam, Piña, Bella and DJ Leo rocked!!! Eduardo an Axel were also very friendly and made sure our cups stayed filled. We were told we’d get the chance to rate our stay at check out but we weren’t given that option.

They know how to serve you and keep you satisfied the whole time. And don't get us started about the exotic massage. It is a must try and completely satisfying for both. The playmakers will bring out the fun and leave everyone cheering for more! Bam Bam and Mariana were my absolute favorites, I couldn't get enough of their smiles! The coffee shop with Elizabeth is extraordinary and I couldn't get enough of her iced Caramel macchiato's! Ivan and Axel were always so helpful at the front desk with every inquiry. The beach is not the greatest but as a beach lover it wasn't even that big of a deal as the staff and people there made up for it!

My favorite entertainer was Bella and pool server Axel. Our room was comfortable, with a beautiful ocean view that made waking up each morning a pleasure. The food was good—not amazing—but there was always something to enjoy, and we never went hungry. The spa was incredible! We participated in a sensual massage with Tere, and it was absolutely amazing. My husband and I both fully enjoyed the experience—it was intimate, relaxing, and a perfect addition to our stay. And, of course, the jacuzzi area—where the magic happens outside of the playroom! It’s a social and sensual hotspot where people mingle, connect, and enjoy adult fun in an open, respectful, and exciting atmosphere. The staff was exceptional, always friendly, attentive, and professional, making sure our trip was unforgettable. If you’re looking for a unique, liberating, and fun getaway, this is the place to be. If you’re a prude or alternatively a creep, stay home this place isn’t for you, but if you’re open minded and looking to relax in a sexy atmosphere or reconnect with your partner, this is it.
