Amazing vacation at Catalonia Royal Tulum
Amazing time at the beautiful resort with great beach, facilities and excellent staff. Perfect food, beach is great, entertainment staff and activities were top. Resort is perfectly set to jungle garden with funny friendly animals. We absolutely want to come back!
Excellent resort in every way! The entertainment and service staff were exceptional. Food, beach, pool, all 5-star. The ambiance was beautiful. It was like being in the rainforest. The smaller size of the resort made it extra-special and the staff felt like family.
The animation and the hotel service were perfect it was an extraordinary expirience we will come back!!
Charlie, Diego, Paulina, Tita, Shamed and Abraham really stood out and they were maki g sure that our honeymoon experience will be special!!

Wonderful calm and happy energy-the staff were very helpful, upbeat and positive. The resort is very clean and the food is wonderful! The path to the beach with the canopy is also quite unique. We feel that the following staff members deserve a special mention for doing a lot of “extra” and making sure that everyone had a positive experience:
Quexzobel-friendly hostess at the buffet
Carlos/Charlie-“Happiness Provider”
Carlos-organized a wonderful parasailing experience for us
Juan-friendly server at breakfast buffet
Tita-dance & water fitness instructor who is very supportive and encouraging
The Yoga instructor on Monday-I didn’t catch her name, but she was also very encouraging
The performers and the chef at Raukza restaurant (have the beef!)
Victor -friendly and informative check out person.

This our second time at this resort and it did not disappoint. The food is good, even great at times but not always fantastic. The staff from check in to bell hops, grounds keepers, house keeping, activities and wait staff are all friendly and willing to make your stay the best it can be. That being said there were a few that deserve special recognition. Alejandro and the staff at The B'Loved were exceptional. Fudensio and Monica made sure we were well taken care of during the day. In the evening it was an absolute pleasure to be under the watchful eyes of Jesus and particularly Roberto. His attention to detail was phenomenal, always anticipating the perfect time for the next course or the next round. What an engaging, articulate, genuine young man!! Enindino's contagious smile and happy go lucky attitude kept the cool vibe going at the Tequila Bar. Quetzabel's caring attitude is evident as she efficiently keeps the guests moving through the breakfast and lunch buffets. Carlos's dry sense of humor/coffee was the perfect way to start the day and Marisella was so sweet. The addition of the Tao Cat restaurant is a major upgrade over the previous Tapas!
On the negative side, the little tub/pool just outside the B'Loved was a wonderful spot to sit after dinner and soak your legs after a long day but it was no longer heated.

We stayed at Catalonia Royal Tulum for our honeymoon. This was our first time visiting Mexico and it’s safe to say we have fallen in love with the culture and the people.
We have loved our stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum, the grounds are beautiful, the beach and clear waters are spectacular and the staff are fantastic. With a special shoutout to the Events Team, Charlie, Paulina, Tita, Abraham, and Diego. These guys work incredibly hard every day and take the time to talk and get to know you. Best entertainment team we have experienced! Aqua aerobics and pool trivia’s were our favourite.
Staff at BLoved restaurant also deserve a special shoutout, Angeles, Yolanda, Alelandra, Argel, Sandy, Victor, Cocina, Ariandne and Lizandro, all made sure we were looked after.
We had a fabulous holiday. We did feel more could have been done to acknowledge our honeymoon. We upgraded our room to a Romance Room, we were greeted with a ‘just married’ sign on the door with a mini bottle of fizz and small fruit basket. There was nothing romantic or extra to really compensate for the extra money we spent upgrading the room.
Evening entertainment is catered more to the older demographic- we are in our early 30’s. We are not party goers but would like to have more options in terms of evening activities/ entertainment.
Sometimes it felt there were some staff shortages as some restaurants like the Asian took over an hour to serve our food and a couple mornings in BLoved we waiting over 40mins for our food.
We are beach lovers, but sadly we didn’t spend any time sat on the beach due to no parasols / umbrellas. There are plenty of palm trees but for us personally, we prefer to have a parasol to manage sun and shade.
Overall this hotel is a beautiful resort and we would 100% recommend. But perhaps stick to a standard room.

Perfect vacation for 14 days!! Good to have a la carte restaurants. First time in Mexico for us, spent most of the time on the beach which was beatiful. Isabel, the waiter was excellent and very friendly during our stay and served us everyday.

The property is very nice. The staff is absolutely great and the best part of the place. The food was average typical resort food. The shrimp had shells and were not deveined lots of work and they were also tough. We were here for a week and they served pretty much the same thing all week. Breakfast and lunch only. No evening buffet that was a bit of a drag. The specialty restaurants needed to be booked in advance for dinners. Their food was good nothing outstanding. There’s a lack of flexibility in that system. Being on holiday we prefer to eat whenever we want not have to make it to a reservation.
The beach was absolutely beautiful and the water great. We stood for over an hour to book a catamaran (free 25 minute trip) on the Saturday on the beach and whoever was in charge of the rental hut never showed up. It would be nice if they would’ve had some communication. Guest services said they are separate from them but still they’re on their property and it’s offered as part of the resort No one told us that we just overheard it They also have free kayak and sub available If you want to go to Playa de Carmen or Tulum or a nearby big shopping center The property is right off the main road so it’s very easy to get a collectivo which is a local shuttle that is about 15- 30 pesos per person. Eight minutes away there is a large grocery and clothing and liquor store chain. It’s a great place to buy tequila if you’re interested. The shuttle picks you up again on schedule another 15 pesos and you’re back at the hotel. Getting peso change is difficult especially the 20 peso notes.
You will definitely notice smokers around here. They do not restrict themselves to the smoking area and there’s no obvious signage anywhere . And unfortunately the smoking area is right at the entrance to where you go on the beach.
The drink service is very good and generous, and as mentioned, the staff are great
Another thing we think they should have is structures to provide shade. Besides, just a few palm trees there is very little and people were struggling to find shade.

We stayed 6 days…
Cons: Rooms are dated. Food was ok. I didn’t eat much after trying each restaurant I wasn’t all that impressed and took a cab into Playa Del Carmen to get food, nearly each day. Cabs are expensive from the resort. The chicken didn’t taste like chicken. Eek!
The resort smells like sewage under the bridge. I do realize we are in the jungle and there’s tons of wildlife, but the smell takes a little bit to get used to. They add lots of sugar to mixed drinks. Electrical outlets kept burning out my chargers. They cost about $40USD in gift shop. Sunscreen is roughly same price so pack plenty! Book all your restaurants on the app well in advance. Excursions are pricey if you decide to leave, but worth it. Look online for best prices or book with your stay on booking sites. If I return, I plan to find a private driver as I do not enjoy the excursion vans, you have to go to each resort waiting to load folks.
Side tip: Do not brush your teeth with the water.
Pros: Staff was amazing. I really liked all of the staff. They really made our day. Make sure to take money with you to the pool to tip.Ocean is feet away, clear waters, wildlife. Everyone is lovely. I really liked the layout of resort.
Overall I would like to explore other resorts & likely won’t return to this one. I was honestly shocked how high their ratings came in here.

Just got back a week ago and stayed for 2 weeks. At least 1.5 hours from airport. Very nice and well maintained resort. Excellent service from a very friendly staff including the front desk. We were not privileged so didn't have use of the Beloved restaurant. Most all meals were good and only ate at the buffet for breakfast. The Salana snackbar was the best for lunch and very good food. All the ala carte were very good and the Rauxa was brilliant.
Rooms were nice and comfortable. Stayed on the top floor by choice but no elevators. Cleaning staff were great and changed our beach towels every night. Had a couple of minor troubles with the room but were fixed promptly.
Beach was very nice but a lot of Sargassum sea weed everyday so didn't look that great and it was in the water as well. They did what they could by hand raking but was a labour in vain. Just the time of year all over that area of Mexico. Snorkeling was just ok, a few fish here and there but not that great. If you get an excursion I'm sure it would be amazing.
If you look at the over head pics of the property you may get the impression that it is very secluded, however there is another hotel and 4 beach houses that has hundreds of people using their restaurants and the beach. Still a nice beach to walk. Pool is very nice.
Even though I would rate this resort very highly I think it is over priced. I would never go to a resort again where there is Privileged and Travellers Club, essentially time shares. I would rather have use of all the resort areas without having to pay extra. The people who are trying to sell timeshares are relentless. They act as if they are there to help you, but if they do ,they expect you to sign up for their sales pitch.
Lastly if shade is something you really need at the beach, you will not find it. No umbrellas or cabannas etc. Small palm trees with little to no protection. After two weeks I was cooked as we prefer the beach to the pool.

This place is absolutely incredible. I took my husband here for his 50th birthday in March 2025 and I don’t have a single bad thing to say. We had the privileged package which gave us access to a beautiful beach area and beloved restaurant. Marcos treated us like family every day. The sweet morning hostess (never caught her name) remembered our coffee orders and favourite spot.
Charlie & the entertainment team is amazing. Super friendly, great to chat with!
The rooms were perfect, absolutely loved the walk from the pool to the rooms. The jungle feeling is exactly what we were looking for.
We would absolutely return again and stay at other locations.
Thank you!

Overall a lovely stay in a beautiful resort and we had a wonderful time
I would not give this 5 star as there too many areas that I would want to see improved but the pool and beach are defo 5 star in their own right!
So here is our review . . .
Positives
A really wonderful resort on a beautiful beach, great pool and lovely grounds. Probably the nicest beach we have ever seen - pure white sand and turquoise water
1 hour from Cancun airport =- easy journey
Very easy check in
great wifi
easy to book restaurants and check evening entertainment
lovely room and shower
All staff are helpful, friendly and engaging
Food is pretty good and you wont go hungry - sorrento was a defo fav!
bars are good and always easy to get a drink
Rauxo show was excellent - did this twice and would have done again if i could have booked in
Mama Mia Italian restaurant lovely
cons
it was a little windy the first week we were there - and there is literally nothing to do if the weather is bad - which we found out pretty quickly! This is the reason i would not return - after about 4 days of being bashed around by the wind - it was difficult to stay positive as nowhere to hang out and chill - no outdoor terrace or sports bar.
Because of this lack of options - after 2 weeks the place started to get a little claustrophobic and i was glad to leave and head home. I think it is more suited to a 5/7 day holiday. 14 days was just too long in the same space with the same faces.
needs a coffee shop - the coffee service at the lobby is fine but really needs something a little more extensive
Entertainment was a little annoying after a while - we loved sitting by the pool but the music was way too loud from about 3pm and entertainment mainly involved making the holiday makers look as stupid as possible - which many people do enjoy - but not really our thing so we spent most of the 2 weeks avoiding any engagement with the entertainment team as they were a little bit hyper. Was a weird vibe - lots of retired folk mixed with very loud youngsters doing beer drinking games listening to loud music!
Food was good but would have preferred an evening buffet rather than always have to book a la carte. Prefer not be committed to a time every night when on holiday
Snorkelling was great on the 2 days we could do it - but generally the water is not still enough to enjoy. if it is still - turn right at the beach and head out by the massage tent
Room was lovely but i will never EVER book a room with the balcony in the jungle again - was interesting but very oppressive after 2 weeks! i longed for sun on the balcony and a view - big mistake! i really should have clocked that a jungle balcony would not be a positive - no sun, damp, nothing dries and no view!
cleaning was ok the first few days but he seemed to get a little bored a few days in - minibar was sporadic, coffee was never replenished after day 3, towels sometimes changed but not always etc
Beach towels were a challenge! that was the most random beach towel set up ever! apparently you need to leave them in your room and then get changed in the evening - this was a 50/50 event! i learnt that at 10am some towels (about 20) are put by the pool so in the end just relied on this system as the other system was flawed
photographers EVERYWHERE! asking for pics . that was annoying
So although that sounds a little negative, these were all minor irritations that added up to a four star rating - it really is a very beautiful resort and i would highly recommend for a 7 day stay or long weekend if American / Canadian
If doing long haul from UK i would recommend maybe changing resorts halfway to avoid the repetiitveness OR book lots of tours
we wont return but we very glad we went :)

We opted for the premium upgrade, which was absolutely worth it. The extra amenities and comfort truly enhanced our experience. Breakfast at BLovd was a highlight each morning, featuring a delicious array of options that catered to all tastes. Loved the healthy juice, omelettes and the lattes were amazing.

We can't wait to return to this little slice of heaven! Highly recommend!

We got back from our amazing holiday in Mexico a week ago. We loved staying at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. Small enough to be friendly and personal and large enough to offer a good variety of restaurant choices, we really liked the layout and style of the hotel, especially the natural environment, the animals and the information available on the environment.
The room decor was a little dark and tired with a bit of a musty smell when we first entered, but after the first day, we didn't notice this anymore. There were plenty of towels, and we really enjoyed the bathrobes and slippers.
We tried all the restaurants, Rauxa, Mamma Mia, and Steakville were our favourites, but we didn't like having to book every night and would have liked the buffet to be open in the evenings. The food choice and quality in the buffet were great, and we have to give a special mention to Quetzabel, who gave us a lovely welcome every time we visited the buffet.
The entertainments team work really hard and there was something going on all day every day. We enjoyed joining in with the daily aqua aerobics.
We loved the beach. It was stunning with seaweed cleared on a daily basis. I tried out the paddleboard, I'm an experienced paddleboarder and this one had seen better days but it was a good sturdy option for those with little or no experience. It was great just to have the opportunity to paddle out on the Caribbean. I didn't use the kayaks but they were very popular and in use all day long on calm days.
We already mentioned Quetzabel but all the staff are really friendly and work so hard to ensure everyone has the best time. Thank you all.

We had an amazing time at Catalonia Royal Tulum. The staff was exceptional, especially Quetzabel at the Palapa. Always smiling and willing to help, she made our morning and lunches so much brighter. We felt right at home, and couldn’t have hoped for anything better.
Best Cappuccino’s in Mexico
Fidencio at the Margarita bar made us the best Cappuccinos we’ve ever had in an all inclusive resort. Definitely a must for every coffee enthusiast and his cheerful attitude brighten our mornings spent in the soothing atmosphere of the resort lobby! :)

Beyond amazing and stunning! My husband and I would return in a heartbeat. It looks exactly like all the pictures shown. The resort is stunning, all the staff is wonderful, the food was amazing. The perfect romantic couples getaway! There's was quite a bit of seaweed (staff really tried to stay on top of it) and rough waters during the week that we were there - but that's mother nature. Thank you to Victor and Nadia at the front desk who helped us with a couple of frivolous matters (one being the 3 way light switches in the room that turned into a game for us) and thank you to ALL staff at the resort - you all made it a wonderful week and it was greatly appreciated. I'm not the type of person to return to a place twice, so I stunned my husband when I said I would come back here in a heartbeat. The only "negative" is the lack of additional shade at the beach. The palm trees are lovely, but maybe having some umbrellas would be nice. Thank you!

The area feels like you're in the jungle, which is nice! The room was really clean and the bed was great. The restaurants were nice, food was good. The staff was very friendly, we especially enjoyed the attention of Quetzabel and Angeles at the Palapa buffet and Georgina's beach services. Furthermore we really enjoyed the so called "Happiness providers" of the animation team, especially Diego, Tita, Paulina and Carlos! The bingo moments and the parties were our favorites.
We would definately recommend staying here, and are in fact ourselves already dreaming of coming back :)

Pure Magic! My boyfriend and I went for a week in May 2025. The food, staff, and entertainment exceeded our expectations! We got engaged during our private beach dinner. Enriquez, our waiter was amazing helping my fiancé surprise me and even was able to get pictures! It is a memory we will cherish forever.
Everything from check in to check out was effortless allowing us to fully relax on our vacation. Big shoutout to the entertainment staff who kept the pool parties going during the day and the entertainment amazing at night. This resort went above and beyond having acrobat artist poolside to entertain us, authentic cultural dancers, stilt walkers, and entire Mexican carnival complete with games, and Rauxa is a must see as well!
Food-We upgraded to the romance package which gave us privilege to the BLoved restaurant. Although the food was very good at Bloved we only at there twice during our week stay due to flies (they only offer outdoor seating and it is limited). The flies were all over us and our food. I hope they can find a solution for that. The other restaurants on property were good, with each having 3-4 options to choose from. We found the buffet to be extensive in its offerings and superior to any of the restaurants, we ate there for breakfast and lunch daily. Please note that all of the restaurants and buffet are only open for certain hours, you cannot visit the buffet during the day to grab a snack between meals so pack snacks for poolsides if you are a snacker.
Drinks-The drinks were delicious. I enjoy tropical drinks but am not a drinker they were very happy to make most of the cocktails they had listed into mocktails and let me tell you they were amazing didn't miss the alcohol at all. Make sure you pack some cash as tips are expected and appreciated. We tipped about $1 USD each time we ordered a drink. You can swim up, walk up, or have one of the roaming wait staff grab you a drink. They had all of the soda options on tap as well. They also offered flavored waters in dispensers throughout which was very nice. Ice is available as well. ProTip-Bring a YETI style cup, they are happy to fill it, rinse it, and it keeps your drinks cold on the hot pool deck or beach
Beach- The Beach here is unlike any other in Rivera Maya. You cannot find a bigger more pristine beach with smooth sand access. It is the best in the area. Please not that beginning in May the Sargassum seaweed begins to wash up. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to swim in the ocean due to the large amounts. The smell was awful however that is nature. The staff does a great job of cleaning up as much as they can daily then a bulldozer comes along and piles it up. There are FB pages dedicated to this phenomenon and will daily report the conditions so do your research before you book
Privileged Romance Package-We upgraded to the Privileged package which gets you access to BLoved restaurant, a private dinner on the beach (just a table next to the pool on the sand, the DJ was playing during ours so plan accordingly), and upgraded room that came with a mini bar. The mini bar had snacks, beer, soda, and bottled water that is refilled daily by the amazing housekeeping staff. This was a lifesaver. They provide a large fruit bowl daily, we had to ask them to stop only because it was a ton of fruit that was going bad faster than we could eat it. We agree the package is absolutely worth the upgrade, you get better seating at restaurants as well and we don't remember it being that much to upgrade. Privileged rooms are closest to the pools, beach, and nightly entertainment which is great (we walked an average of 4miles a day at the resort) However, the DJ at the pool went some nights until 1am which kept us up.
Notes-The AC in the room is controlled the lowest it will is go is 72F 22C which kept the room warm at night.
Step out of your comfort zone and interact with the entertainment staff and wait staff they are so passionate about their jobs and truly love interacting with the guest. We loved Paulina, and her amazing smile and enthusiasm, Miguel at customer service for helping us with our meal reservations, Pricilla at Steakville who had the best sense of humor, and of course Enriquez who waited on us during our private beach dinner and helped with the engagement. Catalonia is a small resort with exceptional attention to it's guest We highly recommend and will be back....maybe for the wedding!

The resort is absolutely gorgeous. Jungle feel throughout as you navigate the pathway to restaurants and the pool/beach. Highly recommend privilege stay primarily because it gives you access to the Beloved restaurant which is excellent.
Room service is hit or miss. Sometimes items didn’t show up at all or were missing. Most of the time we requested ice it didn’t come but it is a nice perk.
Favorite bar hands down was the Baqua Bar. They always made delicious drinks and bartenders were great. Juan and Roberto were always great.
We enjoyed going to Sorrento every day and got the wings every time. We also highly enjoyed the flank steak burrito. Also, Marcelino is the best!
Restaurants were pretty good, some better than others. Mamma Mia was our favorite but Tao Cat is great as well with a lovely outdoor atmosphere. La Rauxa is worth doing once but wouldn’t go back a second time. Entertainment is great but food is sub par. Steak Ville was disappointing and also incredibly hot. The AC wasn’t great there and at Adelitas.
Room was nice and comfortable with great AC! Cleaning staff was also great but it would have been nice to have a more scheduled cleaning time as we never knew when they would come.
Denisse was also so pleasant at the front when we arrived and departed. She is the sweetest and will be someone we won’t forget!
Overall, highly recommend this resort. We will likely be back again!

Mine and my partner stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum was absolutely exquisite from start to finish. Unlike the larger resorts in the area, this one is smaller and it feels more intimate and serene, adding a touch of exclusivity.
One of the absolute highlights and what truly made our experience unforgettable was the incredible entertainment team. Tita, Charlie, Diego and Leo (who takes special care of the Italian guests) were nothing short of exceptional. Their energy, warmth, and dedication to making every guest feel welcome and engaged stood out every single day.
The entertainment program is wonderfully varied and thoughtfully planned. During the day, there's something for everyone: yoga, pilates, and stretching sessions in the morning, beach volley, pool games, and more in the afternoon. Each evening, the team hosts a themed show that brings guests together and adds a special vibrancy to the night. The performances are dynamic and professionally executed, and the team’s charisma keeps the atmosphere joyful and inclusive.
The location of the resort is another major plus - the beach is stunning, and the proximity of the pool to the shore means you can seamlessly switch between the two. There are always plenty of sunbeds available.
Dining is another strong suit of the resort. Guests can choose from five à la carte restaurants in the evening, each offering excellent service. We particularly loved the grill and the Italian restaurant. A standout experience was the European restaurant, which features a nightly cabaret and acrobatic show that far exceeded our expectations for an all-inclusive resort - it felt like a performance you’d see in a top-tier venue.
Breakfast is served buffet-style in a fantastic beachfront location, allowing you to start your day with a gorgeous view. The warm smiles of the two hostesses there truly brighten your morning and set the tone for the rest of the day.
Having visited several resorts in the Playa del Carmen area, we can confidently say that Catalonia Royal Tulum is the one we would return to without hesitation. The exceptional service, beautiful setting, and above all, the extraordinary entertainment team made this a vacation to remember.

We went to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary! Had a wonderful time! Amazing weather, great staff and service! Food was very good! The activities team were great! We had massages at the spa which were great! Our room was lovely (2209)! Fresh and spacious with great housekeeping! Loved that the pool towels were in our room and replaced each evening! The pool area was very nice! We stayed April 27-May4 ...the beach at the beginning of the week was fabulous with not much seaweed but noticed later in the week is was worse (just nature, no fault of the hotel as they did their best to remove what they could). Housekeeping was very good and timely! Bars and bar staff were great...always friendly! Really enjoyed our romantic dinner on the beach to celebrate our anniversary! The BLoved restaurant was such a lovely spot with spectacular views of the beach! So many dining options!
Overall we had an excellent week!

We stayed at the Catalonia Royal Tulum Adults Only resort in early April, and what an incredible experience it was! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Beatrice at the front desk, who took the time to explain everything to us and made us feel right at home.
Our room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean throughout our stay. The bathroom was fantastic, and we appreciated how well-maintained everything was.
When it comes to dining, the options were outstanding! We enjoyed meals at the Steakhouse, Tao-Cat, BLoved, Adelita (Mexican), Mamma Mia (Italian), and even the dinner theatre at Rauxa. Each restaurant offered delicious menus with a wide variety of choices – and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who’s usually quite picky!
For breakfast and lunch, La Palapa Buffet had an impressive spread of options. We also loved our morning meals at BLoved, especially with the friendly team of Alix, Yolanda, Argel, Alejandro, and Victor. Over at Sorrento Snack & Pizzeria, Jose and Marcelino were our favorites – so warm and welcoming. I also want to highlight Carlos at the Steakhouse, who genuinely impressed us with his attentiveness and the fact that he even carries an EpiPen for guests with allergies – true professionalism.
There were plenty of activities available throughout the day, particularly around the pool. The Activities Team struck a perfect balance of fun without being pushy – shoutout to Charlie, Diego, Paulina and Tita for their infectious energy! We took part in Aquagym every day, Stretching classes, visited the gym, and got creative with hat painting, macramé, and canvas art. The pool party with the giant ducks was an absolute blast!
Evenings were just as enjoyable, with entertainment ranging from live music and dancing to themed shows. There was always something fun to do after dark.
While the Activities Team gets a lot of well-deserved recognition, I’d also like to shine a light on the unsung heroes of the resort – the staff working tirelessly behind the scenes. From the early-morning sweepers keeping the walkways clean, to the beach crew clearing seaweed at sunrise, the gardeners maintaining the beautiful grounds, and the housekeeping team who kept our room and the entire resort spotless – every one of them greeted us with a smile and a cheerful “Hola” each day. Their efforts did not go unnoticed and truly added to the overall experience.
All in all, I can't say a single negative thing about our stay. A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to the entire team at Catalonia Royal Tulum for making our 11-day getaway one filled with sun, fun, and unforgettable memories!

Went from April 7th to 14th and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. The resort is beautiful, especially the walkways and the beachfront area. Was lovely seeing all the wildlife on the walks to get food or go to the beach.
Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful and the entertainment team were great too. Mostly fun and varied evening shows/entertainment.
The food was tasty and there was a good variety. The drink quality was hit and miss however.
The beach is beautiful and staff worked hard clearing seaweed from it. The pool is nice although it can be trickier getting a lounger later on as it does get very busy.
There is a beautiful atmosphere at the resort- fairly large and good if you want more of a party in the evening (activities / bars) or equally if you prefer a quieter stay- lots of quieter areas. Overall, we loved the stay at the resort and had an amazing week here.

I can strongly recommend this hotel.
It's a relatively small hotel, less than 300 rooms which is way smaller than the other hotels we saw on pick up / drop off as part of a couple of day trips we took whilst in Mexico
The rooms are great and the 4 restaurants for evening meals are easily the best I've ever eaten at in an all inclusive resort. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
I loved the "jungle" feel of the walkway from reception, past the accomation blocks and down to the pool, particularly all the wildlife...coatis, agoutis, iguanas, spider monkeys, etc
Not so good is breakfast. The food is great but organisation not so much. The first couple of days we were there the queues to get a table were long...not because there were no tables, there were plenty, but because the tables were not being cleared and made ready for the next guests. That did improve but getting a cup of tea at breakfast was a real pain on too many days. Unfortunately it involves the coffee server going into the kitchen to get a pot of tea made (they also have to do this for any speciality coffees ordered). This seems to take an age and also stops the coffee being served whilst the server attends to it. It just doesn't work
Also not good was the reservation of pool beds...if your towel wasn't down by 7:30-8:00am on most days you could forget getting a bed that day. Seems daft in that there is plenty of space for more beds and they do seem to have more beds so no idea why these aren't setup for use
However, these are minor complaints, the hotel is lovely, the staff are great and the food is really good.
I would hapily come back here if I visit Mexico again

It’s not overcrowded and the best part is the FOOD!! The food is just incredible amazing!!! We know that all inclusive resorts usually don’t have the best food but this resort has the best!
Breakfast and lunch is buffet and for dinner you have to make a reservation at one of the 5 restaurants. Every restaurant is just sooooo good!!
The STAFF!! We LOVED the staff at the resort. So friendly, professional, paying attention to little details. We felt so welcomed in this resort.
The whole resort is so clean!! You see staff cleaning non stop at every corner.
It’s so recommended by us!! Don’t forget to tip the Staff and especially the hardworking cleaning service 🙂

The food was beyond our imagination, our three faves were the Asian, Italian and steakhouse. However the Rauxa dinner and show was AMAZING!! The drinks were consistent and top notch no matter where ordered. SHOUT OUT to Fernando for making my husband's 40th unforgettable!! Everyday walking the 5 min to the beach was so serene, the wildlife (coati, iguanas, birds and monkeys) would always put a smile on our face. The beach and pool area was breathtaking, the staff work extremely hard to keep it clean and usable at all times. The entertainment staff Tita, Charlie, Diego and Edgar made each day better than the one before (WE MISS YOU ALREADY!). Thank you to Daniella and Yanin for all the information about the best places to go, you made our trip so special. Huge shout out to Jesus and Miller, you always went above and beyond! THANK YOU for being my cloud nine while I was injured. Cannot wait for our next visit. Thanks again from Chris and Amy Hill.

Lots of wildlife everywhere.
Food was good, lots of options. Steakhouse is definitely the best.
Beach is nice, but lots of seaweed this time of year. Staff does a pretty good job of keeping it clean.
Pool was always clean, beautiful bar in the middle.
Smaller resort, but so relaxing
The most notable part of our experience was definitely the staff.
We must say a special thanks to:
Entertainment - Diego, Edgar, Paulina, Tita and Charlie. These guys truly make the resort what it is. The games, the music, the shows, dancing, karaoke, etc. But on top of all the fun stuff, we got to know them as people. They spent the time to get to know us and be personal. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and they made it so special by getting us involved in all the activities.
Restaurants - Quetzabel , Juan, Marcelino, Marco and Angeles!
Also a Shout out to Denisse from the ETC club, who understood that we did not want to join for a travel club, and did not push us at all. Also very personable, and gave us great advice about local life and places to see.
Massage- Sergio and another female therapist, I think Diana (I can't remember the name right now) were also great!
Overall, would definitely return.
Thanks again everyone!
Love- Chris and Emily from Toronto!

The Activities Team (Charlie, Diego, Edgar, Paulina & Tita) are amazing! They create so many fun experiences and they are so nice! Thank you for making our journey amazing!
The best restaurants are Rauxa and the Stakehouse. In our opinion, the staff from the Breakfast and Lunch (specially the hostesses) and from the Rauxa are amazing!
Overall experiences, a 10/10 although with some points to improve on the guest experiences, but an excelent option!

Wonderful time. Very relaxation. Excellent food, resort, everything!! Thank you for everything see you again!!! Great to meet a deaf worker there. Very, very friendly staff there. Delicious food especially Italian and Steak Restaurant. Very clean room.
Verify seaweed conditions before you book!
A hotel with courteous and professional staff. A good selection of restaurants on site.
This hotel would have earned a 4.5 rating if it weren't for the massive presence of seaweed that made swimming in the sea and water sports completely impractical.

I have just returned from a ten night stay at this lovely hotel all inclusive.
From check in to check out everything was perfect.
We booked our stay (two couples) through TUI
We arrived at the hotel after a one hour fifteen minute bus journey from Cancun airport, check in was smooth,we got lower floor room 4003.The room was spacious, clean with a stocked up mini bar, plenty bath towels.
The restaurant options were a lovely buffet breakfast and lunch in the pool restaurant Quetzabel and her staff served us well, with a smile nothing was a problem.Dinner at night was a lacarte (pre-booked) in one of the five restaurants,Asian, steak,Italian,Mexican and international, the international restaurant laid on a cabaret ,starting at 8-30pm.
All the meals were ample and a varied choice, our favourite was the steakhouse the fillet steaks were cooked to perfection
The pool area and beach were perfect. The pool area had a swim up bar with a great selection of drinks, and cocktails.
The entertainment staff(Paulina,Charlie,Leonardo Diego,Tita, and Edgar) to name but a few got everyone joining in with pool games,if you liked but if not you could chill out around the pool. The entertainment staff were all first class.
The beach was cleaned every morning of seaweed by the very hard working beach cleaners, water was warm, and a nice walk along the beach every morning was just bliss.
At night there was entertainment laid on at the pool bar area,ABBA night,Michael Jackson,Mexican fiesta etc etc also beach parties.
The hard working staff at the pool bar (Roberto,Ricardo,Freddy,Noe) were excellent, well done guys, always served with a smile, even when it got really busy at the weekend, with Americans,Canadians coming to the hotel for three night weekend.
I could go on and on about how great this hotel is we will definitely be back. Thanks again Arthur (Scotland)

We stayed at the hotel in May and had a great holiday, If I was reviewing the staff and the excellent customer service alone I would have given this hotel 5 stars. A special mention for Quetzabel in the buffet restaurant who greet you and took you to your table. She was excellent, friendly and we both enjoyed our morning Spanish lesson. We would also mention the staff in Bikini Snack Bar and the beach bar who were also friendly and welcoming. Again a special mention for Pascual who cleaned our room, he was excellent and our room was kept spotless. Generally all staff were friendly and greeted you around the resort and our a great asset to this hotel.
The hotel in general was very clean and all the restaurants we tried were very good and again great service, favourite was the steak house The outside areas of the hotel were well kept and look very welcoming, although there were plenty of sunbeds people still got up very early to reserve them, with some of them not being used all day. Maybe the hotel should look at having a policy in place were towels are removed when beds are not in use. Also feel that you need umbrellas on the beach to provide more shade, however the beach was one of the best we have stayed by.
The reason for only 4 stars were the rooms, whilst the bed was really comfortable and the bedding and towels were of excellent quality, the rooms were a little tired with marked floors and broken floor tiles. The bathroom also had marks on the tiles and although we knew the rooms was throughly cleaned they made the area look dirty. The rooms do not need a fully refurbishment just some areas of maintenance looked at to bring them up to standard.
Whilst some of the evening entertainment was good (Abba, Neon Party, Mexican Night and Latin Group) it seem to be more like and 18-30 club. The bar in the reception whilst again the staff were excellent it lacked atmosphere and the entertainment was on very early evening and there seemed little their after you had been to eat.
If we were to come back again the main reason would be for the excellent customer service we received. You should be very proud of you hotel team one of the best we have experienced.

Our stay at the hotel was from 17th May until 1st June. We did not upgrade to Privileged.
The location of the hotel is amazing. Situated in the jungle with wildlife and a short walk to the beautiful white sandy beach and blue sea.
The curb appeal of the hotel from the roadside did not look inviting, compared to other hotels which the TUI transfer had visited prior to us reaching CRT.
Upon arrival, we checked in and were a little disappointed with our greeting from the reception staff - not as friendly as expected.
We were situated in Block 5, which was nearest to the beach, the pool, the buffet style restaurant, La Palpa and the Tequila Bar.
Our room was clean, spacious and nicely furnished with great AC. The balcony furniture was very dated and dirty - not very inviting to sit out if we had wanted to. The negative aspect about the room was the lack of storage.
Restaurants - on reading other reviews, the food was better than we were expecting, however, the menu did not change during the time we stayed and all menus were very limited. What let our dining experience down was the lack of AC in all indoor restaurants- it made eating very uncomfortable due to the temperature and humidity. Also, we were disappointed with the service - it was inconsistent and in some cases, we found servers quite rude. This was really surprising because we had read about how brilliant service was. With the exception of service in Rauxa, Tao Cat, the Margarita Bar and maid service. The buffet lunch at La Palpa was very good - Quetzabel, who greeted us most days with a warm welcome and smile was fabulous.
We visited at a peak time for sargassum (seaweed) on the beach but the workers at the hotel did their best to clear it each day, however, it didn’t bother us.
My husband and our friend went scuba diving which was arranged by Carlos, who is a fantastic guy. As a first time scuba diver, it was very professional, not rushed. The pro divers were Michael and Georgia - my husband said they were great people and would highly recommend. They also arranged a free 30 minute sailing lesson with Marco Polo on the catamaran, arranged by Jorge - they would highly recommend.

Avoid at all costs if you don’t want to be disappointed.
The scam began as soon as we arrived. We had booked a premium room, and the receptionist Adriana claimed she was “upgrading” us. We ended up in a dated room with a broken air conditioner. We called to have it fixed, but nothing changed, and we spent a terrible night at 26°C in the room. The next morning, we demanded the room we had paid for, and realized they had overbooked. The room we had reserved through Air Canada Vacations wasn’t available, which is why we were stuck in that awful one. Eventually, we got the room we paid for—but only after losing our first night and day negotiating. A total scam!
The reception hall and location of the facilities are nice. You have to cross a mangrove to get to the pool, since the beach is unusable. The pool is okay, though I question its cleanliness due to a greenish line around the edges. People consume lots of alcohol without leaving the water—almost as if they relieve themselves in it…
The rooms are just okay. The hotel’s management is so cheap they don’t even replenish the bathroom amenities. The housekeeper has to ask supervisors just to get cotton pads.
The La Palapa buffet is good, decent for breakfast and lunch. The à la carte restaurants are quite mediocre. At Sorrento, the deluxe nachos were inedible. Mamma Mia and Adelita were very bad. Rauxa and Tao Cat were decent, but don’t expect anything exceptional.
As for the beach—completely unusable. Huge piles of seaweed as far as the eye can see. Truly awful.
The service was inconsistent. Yolanda and Ivana were nice, and so were the housekeeping staff. But the buffet servers were not friendly at all, except for Alex. Overall, there’s a lack of professionalism.
The entertainment team did a good job—friendly without being overbearing.
There were constant attempts to sell us stuff. Staff place themselves in the only path, trying to catch everyone—very awkward.
We won’t be returning and do not recommend this hotel. Spanish all-inclusives just don’t measure up. The value for money is poor. Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya nearby is far superior and only slightly more expensive.

I just want to start this review by saying my partner and I (both in our mid-late 20’s) have had a fabulous time in Mexico and very much enjoyed our holiday, however we wanted to write an honest review of our experience at this hotel. I will break it down into sections for ease of reading:
Overall Jungle setting-
I think the unique selling point of this hotel is the jungle setting, the wildlife and animals you can see whilst at the hotel. The hotel is basically in the middle of the jungle, with the lobby and restaurants at one end of the complex and the pool, beach and beach bar at the other end. The blocks of rooms are situated along a winding jungle path which runs down the middle of the complex. There are often lots of Coatis roaming around the complex which are lovely to watch, and the babies are very cute. Whilst they seem friendly and are not interested in people at all, (they just want food) I wouldn’t want to touch one as they are wild animals. We also saw lots of lizards and iguanas around the site, and a Yucatán Jay bird also. We loved seeing animals in their natural habitat, but can appreciate that this is not for everyone. The resort is also on the small side, as there is only one pool and a coupe of bars for the whole complex. So if you like the smaller, authentic jungle setting this hotel is perfect for you, however if you want a bit more 5 star luxury and more choice of pools and bars then look for a larger complex with more to offer in that respect.
Rooms-
Our room was on the top floor of the Arena block. To note, there are no lifts in this resort however the luggage was brought to our room by porters upon arrival. The room was basic but large and nice, always very clean, mini bar well stocked, bed comfy, powerful shower, and large bathroom. We had a balcony but didn’t use it due to jungle insects.’
The only thing I would say, which was a particular issue of mine, was the hairdryer in the room was AWFUL. I couldn’t use my own hairdryer from home due to incorrect voltage, so had to use the hotel one. It must be about 20 years old and omits hardly any air whatsoever. I have long hair so it must have taken me 30 mins each night to dry my hair with the hotel hairdryer as it just was not powerful at all. For a supposedly 5 star hotel this was just not good enough I’m afraid. The hotel needs to massively upgrade these facilities.
Staff-
The staff were all brilliant; friendly but not overbearing, hardworking, efficient and welcoming. A particular shout out to Angeles in the La Palapa who was great.
Food-
The food overall was good however please note that the La Palapa buffet is only open for evening meal on Saturday night during Mexican night. Other than that, it’s open for breakfast and lunch everyday. The breakfast and lunch was very nice and provided lots of choice. Therefore you need to book into a restaurant for dinner each night. This however was not obvious upon arrival as no one told us, so on our first Sunday night, having had dinner in the buffet on Saturday when we arrived, we walked down to the buffet only to see it was closed. In a panic wondering where we would eat, we headed to reception who then told us booking was required for a restaurant each night. On that night, we didn’t end up eating until 9:50pm as this was the only booking slot left in the steak restaurant however as it was so late they had ran out of most steaks and had no chips left. Also to note, the signage around the hotel is incorrect and no longer up to date as some of the restaurants advertised on the signage no longer exist such as another buffet. Again will point out that fact that this is meant to be a 5 star hotel… There is a Mexican, Steak House, Italian and Asian restaurant, we dined in them all and mostly enjoyed our meals however the quality of the food varies depending on the chef. We didn’t dine in Bloved as we were not part of the “privileged” package. Overall though the food was nice and we certainly didn’t go hungry.
Pool area-
Pool area was lovely and provided a relaxing environment for sunbathing, and the pool bars were fun also, providing a good range of drinks and cocktails. Staff were quick and we never waited long for a drink. However there were a few cigarette butts on the ground which is gross if you don’t smoke, which we don’t. The pool is a strictly no smoking area and there are signs on each parasol notifying people of this. However some adults can’t read and still smoked by the pool. It would be nice to see staff reinforcing the no smoking message however they didn’t.
Also, please note that you need to reserve sun beds early each day or you won’t get one. We made this mistake on our first morning when we went to the pool at 9am ish to find they were all taken. However I suppose this comes with only having one pool.
Beach -
Lovely beach however it was covered in seaweed for the duration of our two week stay so we didn’t go in the sea as the red flag was out most of the time. Obviously not the hotel’s fault however unfortunate. The staff tried to clear this away, however it was a never ending battle as more washed in each day. We sat on the beach once when there were no sun beds left by the pool and got sunburned as there are no parasols on the beach, only palm trees for intermittent shade.
Evening entertainment-
Evening entertainment was good and we enjoyed the traditional Mexican night, rock night and ABBA night, however there is not enough seats by the pool bar at night where the entertainment is held so had to sit on sun beds a few times to watch the entertainment at night which I am not keen on. When wearing my best clothes I want a table and chair and not to sit on a pool longer that people have sat on and sweated on in the day.
We went on a trip to Xcaret, Chichén Itzá, the Tsukan Cenote and Playa Del Carman all organised via Tui and they were brilliant trips.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and our holiday, however we would maybe do a little more research on other hotels next time if we return to Mexico. The hotel is lovely but not a 5 star resort, it’s 4 star at most.

Great resort for adults only
The resort is very good and the entertainment team work really hard to ensure that everyone feels included: Tita, Diego, Charlie, Leo and Abraham.

I feel that this hotel is a 3 star at best. There are many great pros to the resort but myself and my husband felt that the cons outweigh them.
Pro:
-The beach when there is no seaweed is beautiful
- The spa is gorgeous
- The food at beloved restaurant was fabulous (service painfully slow)
- There were a select number of staff who were really friendly and helpful who made the resort bearable
- The buffet for breakfast and lunch and Mexican night was a good standard.
- Rauxa! The food and the show was out of this world and worth booking when visiting.
Cons
- Rooms are dark, depressing, tired and very damp (we used 2 damprid and they were full by the end of our stay) we found the buildings to look unappealing and not 5 star they looked more holiday camp. No kettle, no tea super basic.
- The process to book a restaurant every night is frustrating and I cannot fathom why they don't have a buffet every night like other hotels
- The restaurant atmosphere - every single restaurant feels like a school canteen with no atmosphere or decent decorations, the restaurant staff are the worst with slow service and things constantly off the menu. It felt soulless we actually walked out of two. On the first night a group were allowed to play loud music on a speaker on their table for someones birthday Instagramming shots and screaming for them every 2 mins and obnoxious over the top laughter checking if they were being looked at all the time and the staff didn't care that the rest of the restaurant couldn't hear what we were saying and not enjoying our time.
- The restaurant food - inedible. We arrived to the steakhouse where the above happened, my husband had a white steak 😞 actually came out looking like pork and was chewy. I had ribs they had no meat on them. Other restaurants were also awful Including the Italian with no pizza or pasta available, the mexican with unseasoned slop. If we didn't have beloved we wouldn't have eaten. We also had the meal on the beach and that was poor too sat close enough to another couple we could hear every word of their conversation and by the pool so always people looking at you which is hardly romantic and not what we have expectations other hotels.
- Cleanliness- the pool area was filthy, we would get a lounger and table in the morning and they would still have dirty glasses and cigarette stubs around from the evening before. Cracked tiles around the pool bar and th lights in the pool dislodged. The jacuzzi area in the pool didn't work.
- Entertainment was poor literally bingo or aqua aerobics where the DJ just played stupid noises over the micro phone. The shows were short and repetitive.
- Layout this has to be the most annoying layout of a hotel, everything is in a long line so getting anywhere takes ages it's a good 7-10 minute walk and because of this you spend your time by the pool which is cramped, fight for sunloungers and pretty shabby.
- Location is great for xcaret parks for anything else it's miles away and there isn't anything within walking distance of the hotel to explore (there are cenotes across the road however rwe visited some as part of an excursion so didn't go to them) we got private transfers that took about 1.5 hours from Cancun airport people on our flight took 4 hours to arrive by the shared transport as the hotel is literally the last stop.
We really enjoyed Mexico we explored and did many exciting excursions that overall gave us a positive experience but this hotel is not what it is advertised as and we wouldn't return. We wished we had picked another hotel. If we were from the US like most of their guests a short flight away it may have seemed worth it but a 10.5 hour flight from UK and expensive prices means it wasn't worth it in our opinion.

Although my phone broke early in the trip, special thank you to PAULINA, DIEGO, and the rest of the amazing entertainment team for providing such memorable experiences. The team was active in getting guests to take part in the various fun, engaging activities CRT has to offer. I loved participating in the Aquagym, beach/pool volleyball, painting on the beach, and horseshoes (to name a few). My favorite activity was playing in the Olympic Games on Team Fireball with captains PAULINA and LEO. I liked the teamwork aspect and we won!!! Shout out to GEORGINA for providing excellent service around the pool area, too.
CRT has a variety of nighttime entertainment. My fiancé and I enjoyed the Neon Glow Night, Pool Party, and of course the Mexican Night. Once again, the entertainment team did a wonderful job hosting the different themed nights and parties. The activities and nighttime entertainment were gamechangers and made our trip even better than the last!!
We already miss CRT and hope to return soon!

Great holiday and events team
Fantastic stay, the entertainments team were incredibly interactive, thoughtful and engaging.
Charlie, Tita, Eddy, Abraham, Diego, Pauline, Leo. They were a fantastic team, working together, great at gathering for making events more interactive and enjoyable.
The team were great at coming up with activities to suit everyone throughout the day.

At check in, we were told that we would not need reservations. Therefore we were not able to attend the show. The food (Mexican)was terrible to excellent "Italian". Breakfast was the only meal we enjoyed every day
