Incredible first time experience at CHI. I appreciated the questionnaire before arrival and all the small notes staff made based on our arrival. It made us feel welcome immediately. Staff was warm and always conversational, always on call to answer any questions we had. We stayed in the Master Room and loved how spacious it was, particularly with its large entrance way. Drinks at the Terrace Bar were delicious and the complimentary breakfast (which could also be taken in-room) was out of this world. Daily turn down service was immaculate. The grounds were lovely to walk on the warmer days :) Thank you so much CHI for making my partners birthday weekend feel extra celebratory, romantic, and special. We cannot wait to return!

This New Year's we chose Castle Hill Inn to celebrate a major passage for my husband. We knew we were in for a treat. What we DIDN'T know is that we were in for Covid as well. We had to cancel a prime time reservation at the last minute with meals, spa, friends coming over, included. Sad.
Kelly and Sinn in Reservations, however, went out of their way to take care of us and make sure we have credit for a future reservation which I can't wait to redeem. They didn't need to do this so, a Must Visit Place! Thank you, Castle Hill Inn!
You can relax here. They're taking care of you.

From the moment you arrive on the property, you feel pampered! We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day stay, opting for a cottage, located on the Inn’s private beach, rather than a room in the Inn. The cottages and Inn are meticulously maintained and spotless, kudos to housekeeping and the ground crews. Our cottage had a deck with outdoor seating, the room was well appointed, the towels plush, and quality amenities. A highlight was the chocolate chip cookies delivered with evening turndown service.
Our cottage could have benefited from larger storage space/ closet, otherwise we couldn’t have been more pleased.
The views on the promontory, are breath-taking and the ENVY of Newport! Attracting guests, residents, and tourists. There are Adirondack chairs scattered on their vast lawn to view the ocean, boats, and beautiful sunsets. You can also enjoy drinks and/or food oceanside! There are also chairs reserved for Inn guests; in case the others are taken.
While the entire staff is professional, friendly and accommodating, Jane from the reception desk and MacKenzie from the dining room stand out. A special thank you to both!
We cannot rave enough about the meals, the food was so good, we cancelled our other reservations in Newport and ate all our meals at the Lawn Terrace, one of the Inn’s restaurants. The restaurant is open to the public for lunch, dinner, and drinks. Another perk of being a guest is you are always accommodated with a premier table whether in or outside.
Another treat that's available exclusively for overnight guests are gourmet breakfasts and afternoon tea. Breakfast is served on the patio or inside the restaurant, your choice, and tea is served in a small cozy room in the main house. There are a variety of teas to explore, English tea sandwiches, scones, and delectable pastries. So much was offered, we delayed our dinner reservations!

Beach Cottage: beautiful views. But…for almost $2000 a night it was smaller than a motel 8 room and had only one chair to sit on! Also, pictures on their website are not misleading—they are false. Shows a room with multiple chairs and a coffee table. We were told many times we could have breakfast delivered to our room—-there was no place to sit! It would be a stand up breakfast.
Positive: Dinner at Aurelia was excellent and worth the high price.
Summary: I travel the world regularly and for the image and price this establishment maintains, it is the only such establishment that didn’t care or bother to survey for customer feedback. Tells me they just don’t care and are full of themselves. I guess that’s good for them so long as people are willing to be overcharged and under serviced.

Booked a last-minute beach cottage getaway and couldn’t have had a more relaxing or better escape. Beautiful waterfront cottage, breathtaking views and treated like royalty by everyone we encountered. No lunch reservations on arrival when they’re fully booked? No problem if you’re an overnight guest, as they’ll escort you to a premium table in the patio section reserved for hotel guests. Want breakfast on the deck of your cottage? It’s delivered piping hot precisely when you requested. Want to relax on their private beach? A friendly attendant sets up your covered lounge chairs, side table, umbrella and towels exactly where you want them, and brings you water and frozen grapes. Want to slip into town for a bite or shopping? Hop on the launch at their marina, and the captain will point out key sites along the way. Lunch and breakfast offerings were interesting and well-presented. If you can, make time for the included afternoon tea with freshly baked treats and tea sandwiches served in a cozy wood-panelled room off the lobby. Thoughtful amenities in the cottage included a dimmable light, umbrellas, heated bathroom floor, a deep soaking tub, a charging station, a small refrigerator stocked with free water (plus a split of champagne, wine, etc. for purchase), etc., and there’s turndown service with chocolates. Storage for clothing was rather limited if you’re planning an extended stay, but no problem for us. We come to Newport often so spent virtually all our time at Castle Hill. Loved every minute and will return.

the view was great..... downhill from here... the drinks are weak, food is overpriced.
although my swordfish was very good, just over priced.. the drinks are good but very weak on the liquor. 26 for a hamburger is a little steep.... i think its more for tourist.
LOCATION is good, and that's it....

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR STAYING AT THE BEACH COTTAGE: Please read in its entirety as I am being honest about staying at the Castle Hill Inn in one of their Beach Cottages for a week in July 2024.
THE GOOD:
1. Location. You cannot get anything better than this location. On the beach. Step off your deck onto the sand and within 75 steps, you are in the water. It was so wonderful to leave the window cracked at night to hear the ocean.
2. Housekeeping: They were the ones with the best service and always made the room look as nice as it could. Very pleasant and friendly.
3. Front desk: Everyone we dealt with was always willing to help with dining reservations, and things to do and answered questions that we had.
THE BAD:
1. The actual room. We paid almost $2,500/night for this cottage. THIS HAS TO BE one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed at in my life - and I've stayed in some small hotels in Europe! This cottage is so small!! You walk in and your tiny bathroom is on the right (and how they haven't had guests falling getting into their thigh-high bathtub/shower I have no clue!!). The shower also has a half divider that DOES NOT keep water off the floor so every shower, you have to use almost all the towels they give you to mop up the floor - or risk falling. You also have a kitchen (?) for some reason that isn't a kitchen. They have a microwave and plates and cutlery and a mini-fridge...but what are the plates for if you can't cook?? And only 2 forks and 2 knives?? Why bother. Then after you take the one step to get into the room (I'm being honest), you are in the bedroom/sitting room. The bed is called a Queen, but it's the smallest Queen-sized bed I've ever seen. The closet is on the left, but you can't open it more than a couple of inches because it bangs into the side table. WHO DESIGNED THIS?? There is no dresser, but a small cupboard on the side of the fireplace. I guess people who stay here don't need to unpack?? I was just in constant shock at the price they were charging for such a TINY TINY room!!
2. Only 1 ply?? Ok..I know this one is petty...but if I am paying this much money, can you please give me at least Charmin in the darn bathroom?? The toilet paper is see thru it's so thin!!
3. Restaurant/Room Service - Here is where they also fell short. We dined in the restaurant twice for breakfast, and once for dinner and had room service twice. We did not have a good experience with servers and service all 4 times. The room service came cold both times...we complained...they said they would come pick it up...never did...we gave up.
4. Lack of "extra service". We had notified the hotel beforehand that this was a milestone anniversary trip for us. Being the 5-star hotel it claimed to be, we were thinking they would do something nice. NOPE. All we got was "Happy Anniversary" written on a standard welcome letter that they give to all guests. WHAT THE?? Now...the reason I mention this is that I have been to "lesser star" hotels for prior anniversaries or birthdays and they have done some classy, first-rate extras - it just makes you feel special. This one...nope
So...I actually wouldn't go back to this property because when I pay this much for a room, I want both LOCATION & ROOM to be nice. The location was great....but there are other places to stay in Newport (or surrounding areas) that would have the location AND nice room.
Too bad that this missed it on so many levels.

We spent 3 nights and thought the inn was lovely. Unfortunately the service was spotty and this was confirmed 8 hours after we left when we were charged $47 for 8 cashew nuts we ate in our room. Having no sign or menu as to a mini bar we assumed the small jar of nuts like the chocolate chip cookie at our bedside was complimentary! There was no mini bar. It was a complete fraud and the hotel’s insincerity left such a bad taste that we will never return. Simply, what crust!

We did dine in the restaurant - in one of the rooms that had a fantastic view of Narragansett Bay. The food and the service were excellent. My wife had a lobster roll that must have had all of the meat from the lobster in it (10/10). I had 'curried' chicken pot pie. A very interesting and tasty combination. (9/10). For sure the restaurant must have a very creative and talented chef.

Beautiful property but I would recommend more for a drink on the lawn and the view rather than staying there. We have stayed at many 5 star Inns and B&B's and I do not feel that this Inn is a good value. Overall the customer service is good but not great. I also feel that there is an air of pretentiousness and it's a bit more "stuffy" than what I would prefer. We stayed in the Harbor House. The room was a little on the small size but had great views. The walls are paper thin and the bed a little too soft and noise from adjoining rooms was an issue. The walls in the room could have a little more personality or artwork and were a little plain. As far as the food, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and enormous. I loved my Lobster Hash and poached eggs! Dinner the night before in the bar was just average. Clam Chowder had nice flavor but almost no clams. Lobster Roll was a nice size but a little too plain and not much flavor. Burger also needed salt and pepper and not worth $26. Our server/bartender never asked how anything was or I would have told her.
