If you’re visiting Cape Town then look no further than here. Staying that little bit further out means incredible alfresco dining at breakfast, SPA, superb restaurant (Morii) - as part of your gourmet tour, generous sized beds/rooms and fabulous food and staff. Ubers are also dirt cheap in cape town (less than £5 anywhere) so the beauty of the Vineyard and Newlands gives so much more freedom and luxury, especially when wandering round the city centre beyond the Waterfront at night is perhaps a little unwise. Can’t praise the place highly enough - excellent all round!!!

An expensive hotel trading on a past life. 1st night was a shambles . Waited 30 mins to get 2 drinks- even when seated virtually next to bar. Waited 60mins to get a table, having been told on checking in that residents shouldn't have problems getting a table , faced with reserved signs everywhere. We finally sat down to an inedible main course. Presented with stale bread (sent back) dried up meat and a TOOTH PICK in the meal!!!! Also sent back. Service was shocking! Went to bed hungry ! Checked bill next day having been assured a manager would look into the issue but we had still been charged!!! Housekeeping- there is no longer the lovely touch of a “ turn down” service at £420 a room . Shame. The next day our room still hadn’t been touched by 4pm and only when we complained at the Front desk again, did anything happen . There is no communication between Food/Beverages/Housekeeping because we were promised half a dozen times that someone would come and address our concerns . We had several issues with the room/suite not being swept or cups /glasses not being changed but there is a complacency about management that really doesn’t take anything on board or give a hoot ,simply nodding politely… Because the location is great there will always be customers but NOT because of the service.

What a beautiful hotel. We stayed here over our 4 day trip to Cape Town and were completely spoilt. The gardens with the Mountain View are stunning and a great place to sit and enjoy the excellent breakfasts. The service was second to none and really puts the UK hospitality service to shame. Our room was overlooking the central courtyard with the fountains. It was clean and well kept and the beds were very comfy. Perfect location away from city centre buzz but always with that wonderful mountain in view!
Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

We last stayed at the Vineyard about 15 years ago. The hotel has considerably grown in size which has detracted from its intimacy especially as the hotel was full.
Our room was comfortable and well appointed but the public areas are too small to house full capacity. There are not any proper lounges for the residents and the swimming pool area becomes incredibly crowded during the day.
We found the restaurants generally disappointing - the Morii gastronomic restaurant is too focussed on Middle Eastern dishes which do not appear to have wide appeal. The others are too burger orientated. The Cape has so many good chefs and a hotel of this standard deserves better. The glorious gardens and tortoises save the day but despite this space the hotel felt very full!

A retreat stay and it was wonderful. My husband and I were meeting up with family in CT and stayed here for three nights. The staff are fantastic, so well trained and nothing was too much trouble. The food is excellent, a fabulous breakfast buffet and lots of nice places to sit and chat to family and friends over coffee. The gardens are gorgeous and of course the mountain tortoises are very special. I hope to be back soon.

Room 128
Complaining here - pointing out anything that is wrong - is pointless. They do not care. They will not respond. Weird management set-up.
Faulty air conditioning in room - switches itself on randomly at strange times. We did mention this to housekeeping but it was never fixed in our 5 night stay.
Woken on Sunday morning 7.25am by 8 loud bangs next door room 126. Investigated - door open and 2 cleaners in making a lot of noise. At 7.25am! I asked them to please reduce the noise but was told there was no banging and noise must be coming from the ‘other room’! Really? They carried on making noise and talking loudly.
The room itself is poorly finished and furnished. Much use of laminate covered chipboard sideboard, bedside cabinets and wardrobes. Feels cheap. Nothing
Not one cupboard or drawer closes properly.
Peeling drawer front in bathroom. Needs replaced.
In the shower there are open holes drilled in shower tiles where there was an old fixture at one time. Not what you expect in a 4 star hotel.
Squint toilet flush in bathroom
Toilet roll holder in strange place - one day they forgot to add toilet rolls.
Our bathroom mirror was dirty - cleaners cleaned room - bathroom mirror still dirty.
Loose handle on bedside cabinet (side nearest window).
Staff - staff tend to walk right at you and will not make way. Lack of spatial awareness. Guests are just an inconvenience slowing their day. Not all staff like this. No training
Chaotic breakfast service - very hit and miss. Hard to get a coffee.
The bed duvet was very heavy for summertime.
The fridge did not work - was not cold.
Concierge had no decent knowledge of the local area. Tried to direct us to a gem sales store for a free Africa pendant.
Anita at pool area was a rare shining star.
On checking out we pointed out that our expectations were not met. They just said sorry and had no interest at all in hearing what the issues were or addressing them. No leaders present. A very strange way to run a hotel.
Look elsewhere.

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here And I can honestly say it was better than the first time if that is possible. The staff are friendly and so accommodating. The breakfast is amazing and the Morii restaurant is a taste experience, well worth a visit. As a wheelchair user, the accessibility is perfect, our room did not look in least bit “ disabled’ yet it accommodated my needs. The guest experience manager, Mkho, organised a shower chair for me that made my husband Adam’s caring role much easier and more comfortable for me. Can’t wait to come back.
