My better half and I were fortunate to visit Cape Town, staying 14 nights at the Cape Heritage Hotel on Bree St - what a truly fabulous find and a gem of a location !!!
Despite check-in being in the afternoon, when arriving off an early morning flight we were welcomed in a genuine and friendly way, whatever drink we wished for was provided and staff worked hard to ensure our room would be ready as soon as possible - which it was within an hour.
Throughout our stay, all staff are outstanding - clear they have a real pride about what they do plus want to ensure a stay is as pleasurable and smooth as possible !! Friendly, always taking an interest plus seeking to enhance a trip to where ever you are going with a bit of local knowledge, every one of them is a credit to the Cape Heritage Hotel.
Hotel is located in an excellent part of the city, surrounded by outstanding eating venues, a short walk up to Bo-Kaap and about a 10/15 min stroll down to the V&A waterfront. Very vibrant, safe and very friendly.
Breakfast can be served inside or out - we always sat outside under a beautiful vine - the oldest documented in the Southern Hemisphere plus was situated in a historical courtyard style area. So much fresh choice and service fantastic. Always worth taking time to read the daily "thought for the day" posted on the info board !!!
Bedroom was excellent, very clean, bed exceptionally comfortable plus bathroom/shower was a joy after a long day pout and about. Air conditioning worked a treat (plus was quiet compared to many we have experienced. Nice small touches on a daily basis such as info on weather for following day, a daily fresh biscuit/cookie left etc. They also provide a beach bag with towels/sunscreen and plates if heading off to one of the many beaches for a day.
Have already enthused to several regarding Cape Town, including a couple of former South African residents who were thinking about returning for a holiday and catching up with friends - 100% recommending the Cape Heritage Hotel to them. Thank you for enhancing what was an outstanding time in Cape Town - we will be back !!!!

So glad we decided to stay at the Cape Heritage Hotel. The location is great for exploring downtown Cape Town. The hotel is an excellent restoration of an 18th Century building with very comfortable rooms. But the best feature has to be the lovely staff, all of whom were kind and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant and easy as possible. Breakfast in the courtyard was really good. One thing to be aware of is noise at night from the surrounding bars. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided in the bedrooms and in any case, we were not disturbed by this - it tends to stop at a reasonable hour in any case. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here - and would very much recommend the Cape Heritage as a base for central Cape Town.

Very old building, 1771 , so quirky but fully upgraded to modern living. Wonderful courtyard garden which also has a bar so don't go to bed early.
Staff excellent, breakfast good and cheap so not worth searching out to save the extra £1. Organised taxis from the airport and to the port . Couldn't do enough for us and small so not overwhelmed by visitors.

The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is so much better than we expected with lots of tasteful bars and restaurants very close by. The bedroom was really lovely , clean, and good size with large bathroom. Highly recommend.

Breakfast could be eaten in a quaint courtyard boasting an ancient vine dating back to the 1800’s. One of the tastiest breakfasts I’ve eaten and so well presented.
When we arrived it was the first Thursday celebrations. This hotel was part of the art trail with an exhibition on in the front two main rooms. The celebrations are akin to those of new year and continue late into the night.
Be warned that hotel is in the heart of the city and the noise at night for us was very unsettling ( you are given complimentary ear plugs). Granted we stayed over a weekend and by Sunday things had settled. On the plus side there are great bars, cafes and restaurants at your doorstep

The staff and service was excellent! Be sure to have breakfast - the food and service is impeccable. Our room was very comfortable; the bathroom was upgraded. The V&A Waterfront is walkable (20-25 minutes) during the day. The area around the hotel is quite safe, but being in the CBD there are homeless people begging. The hotel arranged hotel transfers to and from the airport at a reasonable price. Our room was on the street side, so it was a bit loud at night - nothing a white noise machine can't drown out. Easy access to bars & restaurants in the square.

When booking, pay extra attention not to book Cape Town Heritage Hotel& SPA. Very similar names but totally different properties. We made this mistake, so had to pay again to stay in this hotel. Lovely place, pity was only one night though..

Very romantic, far from the sterility you sometimes get in newer, fancy hotels. The staff was terrific; friendly, welcoming and helpful on every encounter. Breakfast was great. Late checkout? No problem. Ideal central location. Much is made of the street noise from downstairs bars, and this was true Saturday night but didn't keep us from sleeping. No noise at all on Sunday and Monday.

Thought we had been pretty clear when making the reservation that we DID NOT want a room facing the noisy interior square, but that is exactly what we got. Thumping music and loud conversation from Jerry's bar until 11pm. Don't recommend if you are early-to-bed type or light sleeper...

We were made to feel like VIPs on our arrival at this beautiful hotel where we stayed for 2 nights prior to a cruise. A much welcomed pot of tea and a lovely welcome from the managers. Our room was very comfortable and quiet and the bathroom had a rolltop bath and a very good shower cubicle. Each room is individually decorated. We had breakfast at the hotel which was substantial and very tasty. The hotel is well located for sight sightseeing as it very near the Bo-Kap district and a few minutes walk from the main office of the HOHO bus service. My only concern would be that it might be a bit challenging for guests with mobility issues as there are lots of steps inside.

Lovely hotel with unique rooms in an old but restored building. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We had a deluxe room for 4 nights facing Bree St. The noise from the street and restaurant below could be loud but it didn’t keep us from getting a good nights sleep.
If you want modern, this isn’t the place for you. We liked the uneven floors and the high ceilings and vintage furniture. No pool or gym.
The breakfast was superb, good variety so even though the menu didn’t change you had multiple options.
Most importantly, the hotel is in a safe area. Lots of dining options within a five min walk. Much of the city is not safe so stick to very touristy areas when walking or take Uber otherwise you may wind up having a very unpleasant experience like we did.
