My partner Cindi and I are regular visitors to Fiji. We have visited over 20 resorts in Fiji, some several times. This was our second visit to WAKAYA and we are already checking flights for our third. The staff, led by Monica the assistant manager, were more than helpful. Nothing was too much for them and our holiday there was their utmost criteria. The dive shop crew, the food and beverages, guest services...everything was well above expectations. The diving was spectacular. For example, Wakaya has many miles of beaches and rainforest to explore. Cindi and I were held up on a hike along the beaches and were surprised to see that Monica had sent out a boat to look for us to make sure we were safe. Fiji has a lot of lovely places with different attractions for different people's tastes. If you want the real FIJI come to WAKAYA. Superb beaches, awesome diving, fantastic sunsets, beautiful rainforests. Great food. Above all....great people!!! Wakaya is a bit more expensive than other places, but it is worth every penny! The private transfers to the island are especially fantastic as this means less time on the mainland and more time where you want to be.

It was our first visit to Fiji so not so sure what to expect and having paid a lot of money for our private island resort our hopes were high. We were not disappointed. From our arrival everyone was warm and friendly and the service was fantastic. Special mention goes to Lendua, Waisake, Nina, Monika and Henry! The hotel and island are kept fantastically natural and clean with local people employed. The food was amazing and we tasted things we’ve never had before. I went fishing one day and caught a few barracuda all of which went to the island community. If you want a special private holiday and looked after impeccably, then this is THE place to visit. With a maximum of 20 guests you are never going to be crowded and with the spa and lots of water sports to keep you occupied this makes for a great holiday choice! From the moment you arrive and then leave to hotel staff singing hello/ farewell to you it all makes for a very special private island experience not to missed.

We have just returned from the Wakaya Club and want to report that it is in tip top shape after an extensive rebuilding and refurbishing of bures (rooms), grounds and landscape. Even the professional crochet court had a new grass surface. We have stayed here more than a dozen times over 25 years and it never disappoints. For divers it is nirvana! The management is caring and competent; the Fijian staff is fabulous; the food couldn't be better, with lots of freshly-caught fish and produce from the island's gardens. Treat yourself to a slice of Heaven and enjoy Wakaya!

On a trip to Australia, our travel agent suggested we fly to and stay at the Wakaya Club & Spa on the island of Wakaya. We flew from Brisbane to Suva and caught a small prop place to Wakaya. We landed on a small grass runway where we could see both sides of the island and were greeted with tropical drinks by the Wakaya staff when we disembarked. It was a scene right out of the TV series "Fantasy Island!" We were taken to the resort which is the only one on the island and the concierge said that he knew we must be hungry since we had not had lunch as yet. He said he had fresh cajun tuna stake and a salad which was PERFECT and asked for our beverage preferences. I looked at the wine list and they had Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc (We preferred that to beer). When we got to our bure (our 1200 sq. ft. room on the grounds by the ocean) we said we would prefer Cloudy Bay wine to the beer. We walked out to the beach and when returned, they had already replaced the beer with the great wine. I off-shore fished with their pastry chef each morning and caught yellowfin tuna and wahoo. We also scuba dove with one day on a spectacular wall dive. We have been to great hotels around the world and the Wakaya Club is the quintessential place for luxury customer service and first-class amenities. We also had a spectacular 2 hours at their spa with great massages and steam bath. Lastly, on your final day they take you to the south end of the island with a cooler willed with lobster, tuna poke, wine and a radio and leave. You are the only people within a square mile and we rollicked, snorkeled on the reef and had a blast. 3 hours later we radioed them and them came to pick us up. We cried when we had to leave Wakaya, but will definitely return one day soon. Wakaya has been remodeled after Hurricane Winston and the pictures show that it is even more spectacular.

We just came back from Wakaya. Although the resort is not fully open due to renovation, the place itself is a gem. We peeked at their new rooms and pool and cannot wait to see them finished. luckily the great taste is being very well respected. Food was beyond amazing and the friendly and lovely faces we so much cherished were always there to pamper us. After visiting many islands in the South Pacific, Wakaya is still the best getaway in the South Pacific.

The scuba diving is exceptional-shark, great fish activity, huge clams, and very accommodating to diver's needs. The food is outstanding-and chef will create menu based on dietary needs and will prepare your meals when you desire. My husband had ear pain and we went to the local clinic (for the workers on the island) and received very good care. We hope to return soon. Do not expect a long beach to walk on, but there are a few trails to hike on. This is a place to truly relax and unwind.

I first went to the Wakaya Club back in 2004 and then again in 2014. This resort is without a doubt the best resort I have ever stayed. First class amenities at it's finest! Scuba diving is great. The beaches are postcard perfect. The staff is incredible and extremely friendly. This island is definitely Heaven on Earth. I don't recommend this resort for families especially with small children or for those on tight vacation budgets. This is definately a perfect island getaway for couples. Very romantic.

My wife and I visited Wakaya in September 2013. We would recommend this destination for people that really want to unwind. This is an ideal place if you fantasize about curling up with a good book in a lounge chair in front of gently lapping waves for hours at a time. The greatest compliment I would pay to the resort are the fabulous people that are employed there. So many pleasant and helpful people all in one place is a rare experience. Our typical day started with spending time in the workout facility followed by breakfast on the deck of the restaurant overlooking the water. On several occasions we spent the middle of the day enjoying a private beach picnic. The food that the restaurant provided for the picninc was simply outstanding (grilled local lobster, shrimp and fish). The resort essentially has 4 beaches for guests. The beach in front of your bure (room) was right in front of the reef. Simply step outside your bure and walk 100 feet across a green lawn to the sand and wade into the water, swim 100 feet and you were on top of an absolutely spectacular coral reef. A second large beach was just around the corner (short walk) from the bures. The final two beaches were private and were reserved for only one couple per beach. Staff from the resort would have the land rover loaded up with your picnic lunch including beverages of your choice. You are then driven 10 to 15 minutes to a remote spot on the island for the picnic. Lounge chairs and towels are waiting. The driver unloads the picnic on the tables that are set with flowers. Just fabulous. Dinner is served at the restaurant beginning at 7pm. We began each evening with a cocktail in the bar of the restaurant overlooking a fabulous view of the ocean. The menu items for breakfast remained the same through the stay. The menu items for lunch and dinner changed daily. The food was consistently good and occasionally exceptional. We loved the freshness of the ingredients and moderate size of portions the restaurant served. No junk food to be found on the island. Wakaya is definitely a diver's paradise. The little harbor had 2 or 3 boats that were always ready to take scuba divers and snorkelers to the reef that surrounds the island. I snorkeled a great deal and was blown away by the abundance and variety of marine life. Other guests raved about the scuba diving. The island also has a variety of activities that one can enjoy. My wife and I agreed to do one of these activities each day. The resort has a very modest 9 hole golf course with clubs and balls ready for any guest. No tee times. Just show up and play. No dress code either. We also played croquet on a very nice court. There also hikes and tours provided by hotel employees that are definitely worth the time. There is also a local artisan who spends all day carving beautiful pieces of wood in his open air studio. We also spent two afternoons at the spa. The two treatment rooms open right up to the shore of the ocean. It was so peaceful getting a massage and simultaneously hearing the waves lap up on the shore. A great experience. My one caveat for people interested in visiting is to come prepared for quite a bit of mosquito activity. The resort provides a natural insect repellant but there were many times I wished I had brought some spray with DEET. Overall, we would wholly recommend Wakaya and would like to return sometime in the future.

However, we will when our children are grown and we start 'dating' again.
