Very welcoming and extremely friendly staff. Nice rooms and gardens. But f & b is weak and not in line with the rest of the hotel. On our late arrival we ordered roomservice. One dish was a filet mignon. It was not a filet mignon but a sirloin who was not tender but was perfectly cooked. The Cesar dressing was sweet! The next morning we had buffet breakfast in a not air conditioned crowded restaurant with a lot of flies. The choice and quality are poor and not reflecting the rest of the resort services. Extremely poor and cheap products are used. Orange juice is like a colored sirup. Bread and pastries taste old and seems to be backen the evening before. The buffet itself looks messy as they not take care of the buffet when refilling. Was expecting a lot reading the reviews. I have worked my all career in the hospitality and know unfortunately what kis what.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the warmest Fijian hospitality, and every experience exceeded our expectations. We were in room 1625. A huge vinaka vakalevu to Christine, Ellie & her incredible team for organizing the most unforgettable Valentine’s dinner—the night we got engaged! Every detail was perfect, and when we returned to our room, we were surprised with complimentary Valentine's macarons and a bottle of champagne, making the night even more special. Special mentions to: • Milla at 169 restaurant, who made us the best omelets every morning with a bright smile—starting our days off perfectly. • Adi, our wonderful waitress at the cabana for Valentine’s dinner, who provided impeccable service. • Susanah, our talented mixologist that evening, who made the most incredible cocktails. • Esther at the front desk, who was always so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. • Moses, our driver from the airport, who kindly stopped at the supermarket so we could grab some snacks after our late flight—such a thoughtful touch. • Diana aka Princess Diana, who welcomed us at the front desk with a big smile and champagne on arrival—what a way to start our trip! • Jone, our amazing waiter at Tatavu on our first night—along with the entire Tatavu team—who made our dining experience every night at the resort absolutely wonderful. • Anaseri and the entire 169 team, who made every breakfast feel special with their attention to detail and warm Fijian hospitality. Their farewell song on our last day was breathtaking—it was like listening to angels sing. We stayed at the Sheraton Spa & Golf Resort in Fiji for 4 days and 5 nights, expecting a 5-star experience, but instead, we were left wondering: What are the chances that we would receive even the minimum care? Unfortunately, the answer was close to none. I don’t usually like to complain—I have worked in various hotels, including a 5-star hotel in London, in roles such as chambermaid, waitress, and wine waitress, so I understand the demands of the industry. However, even knowing that, I was shocked by the lack of basic hospitality and the complete absence of care or attention to detail at this resort. Room Change & Lost Scarf – Rushed and Inconsiderate We were upgraded to a beachfront room, which was a nice gesture, but the way it was handled showed a complete lack of consideration. I was recovering from a cold and was given less than an hour to pack everything alone, as my husband was away on a pre-booked excursion. I told reception that I would call them when I was ready, yet they still sent a porter, making me feel like they were more interested in getting the room ready for the next guest than in helping a sick, struggling guest. In the rush, I accidentally left my scarf behind, which I had planned to use for the journey back to England (where it was 2°C). The hotel never notified me, even though my scarf had a label with my email address. By the time I realized it was missing, I was already at my transfer airport, and I had to pay £130 for international shipping—far more than the scarf’s actual value (£30). What are the chances that a 5-star hotel would show a bit of initiative and send a quick email? Apparently, none. Had they simply offered to ship it via standard post, it would have been much cheaper and would have left a good impression. Instead, I had to go through the hassle and cost myself. Massage Booking – The Only Activity I Could Do, and They Got It Wrong After two days of being sick in bed, I finally felt well enough to do something and booked a deep tissue massage—the only activity I was able to enjoy in Fiji. What are the chances they would double-check my booking? Again, none. Instead of the deep tissue massage I requested, they gave me a relaxation massage, and I only realized the mistake when paying. The therapist was excellent, but it wasn’t the treatment I asked for. For a 5-star spa, this kind of basic mistake shouldn’t happen. Food – The Only Good Thing (If You Stick to Fijian Cuisine) The only truly good thing about this hotel was the local Fijian food—it was amazing and the only highlight of our stay. However, their attempts at European cuisine (offered in the buffet) were poorly executed. Had I not known what real European food tastes like, I would have assumed it was all bland and badly made. Luckily, when I travel, I avoid European food, but I tried some out of curiosity. It was disappointing, and I believe the hotel should invest in sending their chefs to other Sheraton locations to improve their international dishes. A 5-star resort should not misrepresent international cuisine this badly. Service & Hospitality – Where Was the Basic Human Courtesy? What are the chances that a 5-star hotel would show basic human care for a sick guest? None, apparently. I told multiple staff members that I was sick, yet not one person even wished me a quick recovery—something that costs nothing but makes a huge difference. I mentioned issues to staff without making a fuss, yet their response was either clueless or dismissive. They didn’t take my concerns seriously, even though I was already being understanding and patient. When I requested to purchase a robe as a souvenir, they didn’t even bother to arrange it for me—even though I was willing to pay. Is it too much to expect basic service at a 5-star hotel? Other Issues Cyclone-related flooding: Our room had water seeping in, which staff only addressed by placing towels on the floor—not exactly what you expect from a luxury resort. Superficial Hospitality: While Fijians are generally friendly, we noticed that some staff were only polite until they had your money—a sad reality in many tourist destinations. The only real convenience was the Fiji Airways check-in desk at the hotel, which allowed us to check in early before our flight. Final Thoughts – What Are the Chances We’d Return? Zero. This trip was a big deal for us—we had saved for a year to afford it, and my husband, a Marriott Gold Loyalty Member, expected a level of service that matched Marriott’s reputation. While we didn’t expect perfection, we did expect a basic level of attentiveness and consideration, which was completely missing. I normally don’t like to complain, but if you pay for a 5-star experience, you should receive at least 5-star basics. Instead, we received indifference, a lack of attention to detail, and no effort to go the extra mile. Would we return to Fiji? No. Would we recommend this hotel? Absolutely not.

Not a huge fan of food in buffet restaurant but that's my issue, so not a complaint by any means. We found dining at the little patisserie or down at the harbor an alternative that suited us! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable! We had the pleasure of being personally welcomed by lovely Joe! Such an amazing chap! We were so grateful for his attention to detail and making as welcome in our first day and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay! One of my best holidays!!

The hidden fees and costs were outrageous and were not accurately explained on the phone when we reserved the room. Not until we got to the hotel were we then informed about the $600.00 hold as well as several tax lines added to the room cost. As well as the automatic, over the top credit card fees. Don’t let any type of “beachfront hotel” fool you, the beach access is a dark, muddy small strip of beach that nobody lays out on and nobody swims in!

The staff even knew us by name and remembered us even after just one day. The check in was perfect, and we were offered Champaigne or water. It was quick but informative. The room was beautiful and spacious, clean. Breakfast was amazing. A special call out to Sureti from around the pool area, she was so lovely and helped to make our holiday even better. We’ve just returned from a week here and had an amazing time, although it was a contrasting week. The first few days we felt extremely pampered by the staff and very relaxed. For the latter half of the week the hotel was lots busier as it was the school holidays and lots of families arrived, which meant the restaurants were crowded, the pools were busy and the staff didn’t have time to sing to people who were leaving or had a birthday, which they did initially and we thought it was very moving. That said I would recommend this hotel but don’t go during school holidays if you’re looking for a more relaxed holiday.
