Yes, it's beautiful. But the negatives substantially make it not worth the effort to get there. The first thing upon arrival is a lengthy registration process, which is the last thing you want after traveling halfway around the world to get there. Making choices about meals days away (for the picnic which we elected to not do @ 7am), and signing waivers for all activities that we may or may not do in the future, etc. It's crazy. Just get me to my villa and pool please. Then every morning, before I've had a chance to have my first cup of coffee, I had to make lunch and dinner meal selections for the day. The transfer from Nadi airport was OK. The 8 passengers 30 minute flight to Pacific Harbor was fine. The 30 minute boat ride to the Island was rough and not pleasant. Our villa showed signs of needing maintenance. The bedroom has AC, but the rest of the villa doesn't, which means its too hot during the day, and too many mosquitos at night to let in the fresh air with open windows and doors. The staff was friendly. The food was average to good. Management was not accommodating at all. We booked a private dinner one night and it was brightly lit, and bug infested so we returned to the main dining area. We were told that there would be music some evenings, and none was provided We booked the picnic on Sandy Cay months in advance, but upon arrival we were told that the only one we could do was at 7am (who does a picnic at dawn?). Others got a later time. So we didn't take this unique side trip. On our last day we elected to not do the full breakfast, just opting for a smoothie (which was included with the included full breakfast). But since we didn't order the full free breakfast, we were charged for the smoothie. How crazy is that? Appeals on this surcharge were denied "thats the rule" Overall, not a 5 star, maybe 3.5 star with an attitude.

Bula, My wife and I stayed in at Royal Davui for 7 nights for our honeymoon in the Sunset Villa and it was absolute bliss. Service: The people are extremely friendly and courteous. They call you by name and they made us feel like VIPs the whole time we were there. One of our favorite parts is you can have all your food and drinks delivered to your Villa and we took advantage of that. If something was forgotten when they delivered, they fixed it immediately. They are all so wonderful, but a big shoutout to David and Vincent and bigger shoutout to Paul! We miss you all already which tells you how great the service is. Villa: We specifically stayed in Sunset Villa 5 which was our main reason we picked this resort and it exceeded our expectations. The views are unbelievable, the plunge pool was perfect for the hot days, the multiple seating areas were perfect, the outdoor shower was refreshing, the bath was relaxing, and the roof that opens inside was a cool tough. My wife and I really didn't leave the Villa for the first 2 days because of how nice it was and how private they are. You won't see or hear your neighbors. Also our villa had some fun animals stop by, like hermit crabs, regular crabs, birds, and a few fruit bats in the distance. There's air condition in bedroom and bathroom and all the doors/windows open so make the Villa an outdoor/indoor space. Food: The food is delicious and fun. You pick your meals at the beginning of the day, with lunch and dinner being 3 courses and different each day. Breakfast has multiple options and you get to pick a few each morning. The presentation of each dish is always exquisite. If you're a picky eater, you may not like everything, but they do give multiple options. If you love food, you'll have no problem with the menu. Activities: The free activities we did were snorkeling around the island, which was amazing! There are so many fish, star fish, a giant clam, coral, and a shark that we saw and swam with. We did some kayaking, paddle boards, and went on the hobie cat! They have crab races on some evenings which are really fun, the coconut class and cooking class were great and we learned so much about the culture. The Kava Ceremony was super unique and fun. That is very big in the Fiji culture which we're glad we experiences. Paid Activities: We did a few massages which were wonderful. We went the town visit on Beqa island and loved meeting the students and the locals there. We also did the Bega island snorkeling which was amazing. Our guides on both trips were wonderful and brought us to see one the giant clams (the size of a beach ball) which are endangered. I highly recommend that trip. But by far the best part and you need to do is the Sand Cay Picnic. Unbelievable! They take you out to this small sand island and set up a picnic area with chairs, umbrellas, food and drinks and leave you out there for 3 hours. Make sure to bring your snorkeling gear because the water there is better than the pictures. For transfers we did the plane ride to get there and then the car on the way back. We're glad we did that so we got to experience both and our driver was wonderful to talk to. Overall, if you're looking for privacy, beautiful views, and wonderful service then this will be the resort for you. The must is the Sand Cay Picnic and snorkeling!

Wife and I returned from 7-night stay at Royal Davui Island Resort. Maximum stars allowed across all criteria at this adult only island. Spacious but cozy villas with plunge pool. Decadent food and mixology. Relaxing, professional spa services. Attentive butlers and room service. Expansive resort activity menu including scuba diving. But you can find these qualities at most high-end resorts. The Royal Davui Island competitive advantage is its people. From reception to kitchen to wait staff to porters to activity desk to spa services everyone knew our name from the first day and greeted us with a sincere smile. We've been very lucky to have traveled the globe and never before witnessed this kind of attention to personal detail consistent every day through all resort activities. This is the place to be in Fiji if you're looking to be pampered in a private villa with breath-taking ocean views, served gourmet meals, and enjoy lounging in the sun, fishing, snorkeling/scuba on a small private island. A little late getting this review up...but after some recent "all inclusive" stays elsewhere, I had to highlight how amazing this experience was. Of course, the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies, as our more recent resorts were levels below this one. Anticipation started while waiting at the airport in Nadi. The puddle jumper across the island to Nanuku Aerodrome revealed vast jungle and sparse settlements. Small plane...small airstrip...so some may want a few pulls from their alcohol stash before departing! The ensuing boat ride enhanced the anticipation as the tiny speck grew as you drew closer to Beqa Island. Pulling up to the dock, you're struck by how remote and private your island accommodations are. Greeted by the hosts and staff in chorus, you know you've made the right choice! The anticipation doesn't ebb as you make your way to a private bungalow. Everything feels private on the island and once you take in your accommodations, deck and view, relaxation from your long journey is finally at hand. Food is top notch at every sitting. While it may take a little while to run the courses, you wont be disappointed. Choices from a mix of international and local cuisine provide unique flavors you wish you could take home. As the inclusivity does not extend to alcohol, you might consider picking up wine and liquor at the duty free. Just be cognizant of weight limitations if flying across the island. Of course, they also have a full bar and can provide if you like. Nice list of facilitated activities. If weather cooperates, the sand bar and snorkeling are great. The Beqa Island hike was a bit of a let down, resembling more of a stroll. Final thoughts on the trip. Such a long hall from the US, we flew through Brisbane each way. On the way back, we extended our layover a couple days in a wonderful river city. Make sure to submit the appropriate immigration documents in advance if you do the same.

I would give this resort 10 stars if I could. My husband and I went here on our honeymoon and we were blown away by the hospitality and beauty of the resort. Everyone who works at Royal Davui is so incredibly kind and by the end of the trip you are so sad to leave. The food here was so delicious and fresh! The chef did a very good job of keeping all of the meals different and interesting even though we were here for a week and ate breakfast lunch and dinner at the resort every day. The resort also does an amazing job of offering different activities and events. We only left a week ago and are already itching to get back!

The Davui island and its resort are an absolute treasure with great organisation and service, very well designed rooms and common areas. We have been to two other places while in Fiji and the Davui was the absolute highlight. Only thing that could be refined is the turndown service which should not be purely a closing of the curtains but a bit more tidying up of the room.

My wife and I went to the Royal Davui for our honeymoon and can not recommend it enough!! Every detail is well thought out. The villas are stunning and comfortable offering privacy with amazing views. The staff was so friendly and helpful providing the best service we have every received at a resort. The activities are also so great! Highly recommend the sand cay picnic! Our favorite part of the resort though was the food, which was INCREDIBLE. If you are looking at resorts in Fiji, definitely go with Royal Davui!

My wife and I celebrated our belated honeymoon at the Royal Davui and had the most amazing vacation of our lives. The staff was incredible in every way, so friendly, kind and professional. We knew everyone by name and they knew our names. We cannot over emphasize how much care and concern the staff put in to making sure that everyone had a wonderful experience. We did the costco package and it was amazing. Here is a list of our experiences (in no particular order): - rooms are incredible, spacious and private. So clean. The views were amazing. - We brought regular "Off" bug spray and it worked just fine. We didn't see one mosquito while we were there - Definitely go to the hermit crab racing! My crab won and it's so much fun - The village visit was really great. Some of the staff grew up in the village and everyone was so kind. The kids on the island asked us specifically for lollipops, which sadly we didn't have. please bring lolipops :) - We did the cooking class and it was so much fun. We learned how to milk a coconut! - We had an amazing visit to the sand cay. We had the whole island to ourselves and I will never forget the experience. - the weather when we went (August 17 - 24) was perfect. Warm but not too hot. - We worked out in their gym everyone morning. It's basic but clean and totally sufficient for light workouts (treadmill, elliptical, basic weights etc) - wifi worked great all over the island. There are no TVs in the rooms. The wifi didn't support streaming or downloading, so I suggest downloading anything you want to watch ahead of time so you'll have access already. - Shampoo, condition and soap were provided (and great). No need to bring your own if you want to save luggage weight - Laundry service is available. Costs extra but still very reasonable. - When we were there, the Fijian dollar was about 2:1 US$. - When you check out, there was a 3.5% charge to use a debit or credit card. - If you pay US cash, they cannot accept bills older than 10 years old due to their bank regulations. Just be mindful of this if you want to pay in US currency - We thought the prices were comparable to the Bay Area. For us they were very reasonable, all things considered (tourist destination, cost of running a beautiful resort on an island, etc). - We eat a vegetarian diet and there were so many incredible options. The food was incredible and we never felt limited I cannot overemphasize how incredible the staff was. I loved learning about their culture and daily lives. The staff lives on the island for a period of time while working and then have a period of time off to be with their family. Many of them have children that they don't see for stretches of time while they are working. I want to encourage everyone to be generous when closing out. Nothing is expected but it is very much appreciated, as the staff will get their bonuses just before Christmas. Of all the beauty and luxury, to me what stands out as the highlight of our trip was the kindness and professionalism of the staff at the resort.

We chose the Royal Davui for our 30th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The only thing wrong was only having 5 nights. This is one of the best holidays I have experienced. It is the perfect destination for couples who want to experience a bit of luxury, relaxation, snorkelling, and privacy. The staff were amazing, friendly, and focused on meeting guests needs. They were also willing to be flexible to accommodate requests. The food was so amazing, and of a very high standard. The only critique I would have is that my husband and I would have appreciated having access to some quality red wines and found the selection a bit limiting. This did not impact on our enjoyment but it would have been nice to see a wine selection that reflected the same quality of everything else. The island is surrounded by an amazing coral reef and getting to snorkel each day was a highlight for us. We did the outer reef snorkel and night snorkel, and enjoyed this also. The room we had was the sunset villa, and it was stunning. It is really like having a mini home on the island not just a room. The sunsets were amazing, followed by a beautiful starry night sky. We made good use of the plunge pool. It was so private. We chose to come to and from the island by helicopter as we only had 5 nights, and we would do this again. The extra price was worth having more time on the island. We can not wait to return one day.

We eloped on Royal Davui in October 2024. From the initial contact through to the departing transfer, everything was perfect. Grant and the celebrant arranged all our paperwork with the Fiji Government and Chris put our minds at ease on the big day. Everything went off without a hitch. Regarding the stay itself, our villa was gorgeous and immaculately clean, and we had near absolute privacy from neighbours. The food was consistently better than we have eaten at the priciest restaurants in Australia. Extras (ie alcoholic drinks) were reasonably priced and the bar was well stocked. The Fijian crew who looked after us were very kind (we miss you Matthew!) Thank you to the whole crew for all the extra efforts you made to make our stay so memorable - we will be back one day soon.

The package included a couples massage (heaven!), and a sand cay picnic which was beautiful and private. We loved the snorkeling, fishing and scuba diving! The shark feeding dive was the most amazing scuba dive of my life and the guides made it very safe. The biodiversity here is incredible with amazing bats and terns! The staff at the resort is wonderful and they make the trip so special! We definitely want to return someday.

We had five glorious nights in the Daviu East Villa. From the time we arrived we were greeted by some of the most friendly people you could ever wish to meet. To single any out would be disingenuous to the others. The staff quickly learnt our names and always greeted us with a friendly “Bula”. The layout of the island was perfect. In 2-3 minutes you could walk anywhere. The villas are very well appointed and private. The views were phenomenal. The WiFi worked all over the island. The menus in the restaurant changed daily and the food was delicious. We needed a gluten free diet and this was never an issue with many options being offered. The drinks list was extensive. We loved the pool area. Just raise a flag and the drinks menu was delivered! Snorkelling right off the beach and jetty was great fun. We were sad to leave and can’t wait to return one day. It was a perfect place to relax.

The staff will track you down and weight your bag, bags, backpack. If you are over the 50lb weight limit there is a substantial charge, and I am not sure if they are paying this to the charter service or just pocketing the money.

My husband and I booked the 7-night romance package through Costco, which included transfers from the airport to hotel and back, three meals a day (excluding alcohol) a couples massage, and a sand cay picnic. The Royal Davui was the perfect island retreat to celebrate our anniversary! The staff are warm and hospitable. We all knew each other’s names by the end of our stay. How I miss being greeted with a friendly, “Bula!” everyday. Music was also a huge staple throughout our experience. We were greeted upon arrival to the resort with a beautiful welcome song, serenaded during our anniversary dinner, and bid farewell before we left. The marine center offers a variety of activities including snorkeling, kayaking, SUP, and jet skiing. The picnic was definitely our highlight! The staff packed a breakfast basket and brought us by boat to a nearby sand cay, where we enjoyed a tranquil and secluded morning swimming and enjoying the view on what felt like our own private island. It was absolutely unforgettable! Royal Davui is the total Fijian experience!

My wife and I booked the 7 night Costco package with complimentary transfers and we had an amazing time (with one exception, which I will share at the end). Here are some highlights: - The staff: The staff is a large part of what makes this place so great. With a staff to patron ratio of nearly 2:1, you feel like there is a staff member for your every need. The staff at the resort are very personable and we were delighted to talk to them and hear them share about their lives. Some topics of conversation we had include: the history of Fiji, the Fijian school system, the Fijian sport culture, Christianity in Fiji, etc. We didn’t do any of the village tours so this was an awesome way to get a dose of Fijian culture. It seems like everyone who works there genuinely enjoys their job caring for guests which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. - The excursions: The excursions we booked were great overall. We did a couples massage, the guided reef snorkel, the jet ski tour, the night snorkel, and the Sand Cay picnic (pictured). Overall, the snorkeling throughout our trip was pretty amazing. With the warm and clear water, my wife and I found ourselves venturing in whenever we had time to snorkel and explore the reef around Royal Davui. I would highly recommend doing the guided reef snorkel, since the guide can show you fish and other sea life you might have missed. Because of the small size of the resort, the excursions are very private. In our experience, at most one other party joined us. The other excursion I’ll highly recommend is the jet ski tour, in which you jet ski around Beqa island (a neighboring island). From our jet ski, my wife and I really enjoyed the lush forest on Beqa and were in awe of the sheer amount of greenery on the island. All of the excursions we did were great, but the snorkeling and the jet ski tour in particular really stood out to us. - The accommodations: The accommodations on Royal Davui are spacious and clean. Each villa is very private with its own ocean view and we didn’t once see or hear our neighbors while in our room. The resort also includes the option for any meals to be brought to the room, which can be a nice break if you want something a little quieter or more intimate than the main dining area. We opted to do this several times throughout our stay. That being said, this is a tropical villa and we did find the occasional gecko or ant in our room—despite the room being very clean overall. My wife and I didn’t mind, but that is something to keep in mind if you expect certain type of cleanliness. Overall, we really enjoyed our villa and the ability to just walk outside onto our balcony and enjoy our own unobstructed view of the ocean. - The food: I’m normally not much of a foodie, but the food at Royal Davui leaves little to be desired. With a hearty breakfast followed by a 3 course lunch and dinner--you will not leave hungry. My personal favorites were the Kokonda, smash burger, and Thai style fried rice (which is served exclusively for breakfast). The wait staff is also very accommodating if you have dietary restrictions or special requests for your meals, as we did. All in all, 5 stars for food. Ah, so now comes time to share about the one exception to my amazing time at Royal Davui. Through no fault of Royal Davui, and not related to food or anything, I had a medical situation on the second to last day of our trip caused by dehydration (don’t forget to drink your water folks). Through the situation, the staff at Royal Davui seemed intent on moving proverbial mountains to get me the medical attention I needed. In those moments, I felt as if I truly was family to the staff. I am deeply thankful to the staff who helped me that day, but as I look back, treating guests like family is the pattern of Royal Davui, not the exception. That is just the kind of warm treatment that you can expect from the staff at Royal Davui. I miss all the friends and staff that I had the chance to meet on the trip. In summary, Royal Davui is an island resort whose natural beauty is only bested by the warmth and attentiveness of its staff. My wife and I were glad that we booked this resort for our honeymoon and would recommend it to others who want a private and relaxed vacation on a tropical island. Excellent babymoon at Royal Davui! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend visiting this island paradise! The highlights: - The food was outstanding. I read plenty of reviews praising the food beforehand, so I went in with pretty high expectations. Somehow, it was even better than I expected. Every single meal was flavorful and unique. They do a great job introducing variety to the menu daily, so it never becomes monotonous. 10/10 - With only 16 rooms, you never have to worry about anything being overcrowded, finding a chair by the pool, or waiting too long for your meals. You’ll quickly become familiar with all of the staff and likely the other guests, as well. It quickly starts to feel like home! - Snorkeling around the island is top-notch. There’s a great variety of colorful Fijian fish just off the dock, and the water is crystal clear. They provide you with a bag of snorkeling gear to carry throughout the week, so you don't have to worry about returning and fetching gear each time you go out. - The spa is small, but the masseuses were excellent! It was such a relaxing and perfect experience. The babymoon experience: - Being nearly six months pregnant, I was nervous about traveling to Fiji. Google has plenty of warnings about all of the things that could go wrong, but I faced no issues and quickly felt at ease. - I’m usually an easy-going traveler, but this time I made special requests one after the other to ensure a safe trip. Despite this, they were so accommodating and kind! I felt very cared for. - The biggest downside is that I couldn’t eat the ceviche, seared tuna, sashimi, etc… my husband said it was all great, and my jealousy was real! This resort is great for couples looking for a romantic getaway!

We had an amazing trip to Royal Davui, this is our experience and feedback regarding our trip. The staff were amazing, very welcoming and willing to help. We made various connections with the staff which added huge value to our trip. The staff made the trip worthwhile. The many options for excursions were amazing as well. The service staff in the marine center was great, always fresh dry towels to use at the pool as well as great equipment for snorkeling and non-motorized sports. Unfortunately went fishing for 4 hours and couldn’t find a fish in the whole ocean, but that’s just fishing sometimes. The night snorkeling was superb and highly would recommend it! The spa was relaxing and covered a variety of options. The workers did great during our massages. The food was great, the variety of local ingredients with offerings of more Americanized food with a local touch was welcomed. The serving sizes were perfect and kept us full all day. There were a couple mix ups with the orders for lunch and dinner however they were quickly resolved and our meals were outstanding. Housekeeping always ensured the villa was clean and restocked of all items used during the day. They paid extra attention to making sure the outdoor cushions were removed at night so they didn’t get wet in a freak rain overnight. This was outstanding for us and made a big difference. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job! The staff clearly have a willingness to serve. There were a couple of miscommunications or incorrect orders during meals, however the staff was very welcoming and willing to help. The few drawbacks or hiccups we encountered along our trip were as follows; When returning from the Island hike our shoes were covered in mud, we were told just leave them outside the villa and the staff would assist in cleaning of the shoes, however they never picked them up or cleaned them. I had to leave my shoes at the resort, ruined with Beqa Island mud. Bring shoes you don’t mind loosing if you plan on hiking or visiting the Beqa Island. There were some miscommunications on food orders during our stay. The staff was always quick to remedy, however happened more than once during our stay. The cost of alcohol and drinks, the internet advertises all tea and coffee included in the price however upon many times of “signing the bill” we were charged for coffee and tea. Along the same lines, paying $1,500-$2,000 a night USD seems like a couple alcohol beverages a day could some way be included in the price. Being at the resort and being nickel and dimed for every drink is a bit frustrating. Fishing excursion was ok, however it was more of a boat tour than fishing. We trolled for a long time for the 4 hour trip, and in the end I got maybe 6 casts out of the trip, steep charge of $400+ USD for a couple casts and not even a bite. I wouldn’t book this again. The “gratuity” line upon checkout was a little difficult to process as well. To prepare for the trip I did a lot of research and all things online pointed to Fiji as a “no tip” society, however in the checkout process there is a line for gratuities. Be prepared to calculate a tip. Finally upon checkout, there were things added to our bill that were already paid for in the “package” we booked. At a resort charging as much as RD does, there should be no surprise or incorrect charges on a guest account. This should not be something we had to go over with a fine tooth comb, the expectation is that all charges are correct, but if I didn’t catch the mistake we would have been charged a lot for something we already paid for.

They made us feel at home and were lovely to chat too and always made sure we were taken care of! Highly recommend the sand cay, that was a fun and different experience! We also did the night snorkel and got to see fish and coral that aren’t seen during the day. This resort was so nice and intimate. The meals were so tasty, the choices for meals were things I ordinarily wouldn’t pick but I didn’t have one meal that I didn’t like. They also were so good with my husbands allergies to gluten and onion, they were on top of his intolerances and were so accomodating with alternate options for him. We can’t recommend Royal Davui more! The staff here are amazing and the resort is stunning. What more could you want!?

We had a wonderful relaxing time enjoying the hospitality of the Royal Davui family. We were spoilt from the time we arrived until the time we departed. Our Villa (16) was perfect with amazing across the lagoon. The variety of food on offer daily was extensive and delicious.

My wife and I visited Royal Davui in mid-March, 2025 for our 25th wedding anniversary. We loved the island, the activities, the food, and the pace of the place. While it was a very laid-back resort, the quality of the staff, the accommodation, and food was outstanding. They even managed to surprise us on our anniversary, which was a really nice touch! Service: We can’t say enough about the friendly Fijian staff and their genuine hospitality. When you arrive, they welcome you to their family and they really do mean it unlike other places, that say the same, but don’t follow up with deeds and action. For example, I don’t know how they did it, but they seemed to know and recall my wife and my name within 5 minutes of our arrival! I am sure we missed a few people, but those that really stood out to us with their charm and enthusiasm were: • Dining/Bar: Paul and David kept us entertained with drinks while La, Mele, Lydia, Ben, and Ivamere were always ready in the dining area with smiles and suggestions. • Guest Relations/Mgmt: Vincent, Nimi, and Grant were always helpful and checked in periodically to ensure we had everything we needed for a memorable vacation. • Waterfront: We took advantage of paddleboards, kayaks, the Hobie cat, and reef snorkel trips as well as a breakfast at Sandy Cay. Su, Bex, and Juanny were terrific—attentive and helpful. We know there were many others in the kitchen, cleaning the rooms, and maintaining the grounds, that go unrecognized but are essential to such a well-run operation. We know from reading prior reviews that the staff has been here for many years. Keeping great people who are so focused on their visitors is a credit to the entire group. The Villa: We stayed in the Sunset plunge pool villa (#5). This is an amazing villa with spectacular view and comfortable, private accommodations. There was no reason to leave! I am sure though that all of the villas have their own unique perspective and you can always catch the sunset at the bar, which is a 3 minute walk from anywhere. Weather: We were worried about the weather since we saw rain in the forecast every day and most days we did have some rain. However, it really didn’t impact us in the least as they amounted to passing storms that were short in duration and only added to the experience. Who doesn’t like to sit outside under cover reading a book or eating homemade cookies with warm temperatures, a brief downpour, and thunder/lightning! Even out at Sandy Cay, we had a 15-minute deluge and kept cover under a large umbrella that was provided. The sun came out soon after and within 45 minutes, everything was dry. One piece of feedback and awareness: When paying for incidentals with a credit card, the resort charges a 3.5% bank fee. We didn't find this clearly stated on the website/FAQ so it was a surprise. More surprising, we were not offered an alternative of paying by bank transfer and even US dollars had to be pristine as they told us banks don't accept used US dollars. We don't like to pay these surcharges to banks and we always plan ahead to not do so and to be surprised at the end of our trip wasn't great. We had stayed at Matangi Private Island and thoroughly enjoyed it but when a very well-traveled couple recommended Royal Davui to us it was a no brainer to visit. This was a great recommendation, and we would love to return!
