Our stay at the Intercontinental Thalasso Bora was just the most perfect experience we could ask for a honeymoon.
The staff’s kindness and quality hospitality left a lasting impression. The breakfast staffed always greeted us by name and with a friendly “Ia Ora Na”
The views and room erased any homesickness.
And the beverages were always on point thanks to the lead mixologist, Kerian. My wife and I planned our happy hours and dinners to coincide with Kerian’s shifts. Every single one of his drinks were incredibly crafted and delicious. We hope to cross paths with Kerian again on our future endeavors.

We were a bit disappointed that the little snack shack wasn’t open, but it was also low occupancy/low season. So hopefully it’ll be brought back! It was fun to get ice cream and a beer…
Their little water garden is fun to snorkel around, lots of fish. We also had mother in law and all had a fantastic time.

Intercontinental Bora Bora
We elected to use public transportation, which is fine; you get on a ferry, and when you get off, there are taxis to take you where you need to go. Check-in was smooth, and we were given scented cool towels and a welcome drink. Very Nice. The resort is laid out very nicely; we opted for a beach hit and were impressed. Right on the water, the room is beautiful. The bed is very comfortable, and the AC works well. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, They have a lovely pool. We ate here, and all meals were good. They put a strange sauce on hamburgers, so watch for that! Beach towels are provided. You can walk about 6 minutes to a market to get supplies for the room. One of the fantastic things about this hotel is that it is on the island's only good beach and is right across a small lane. It's about 100 feet from the lobby, and you are on the beach. Everyone gathers here every night for the sunset. Also, you get a water bottle to keep, and they have filling stations. I highly recommend this resort.

The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa is a dream vacation! My husband & I honeymooned at this luxury resort and are eager to return at our next big milestone! First, we stayed in Tahiti and Mo'orea; however, next time we travel to this beautiful location we will simply be staying at this exquisite resort. While Mo'orea provides the best snorkeling, the overall experience of the island of Bora Bora was exceptional because of our experience at this resort. From the breathtaking views, relaxing resort, overwater bungalows, to the incredible staff - the experience is absolutely unbeatable. The friendly staff greeted us by name every morning as well as with our "usual" breakfast drink (we stayed for ~1 week). The concierge was exceptionally hospitable ensuring that our excursions were executed seamlessly. We became friends with the bartender and enjoyed happy hour each evening being spoiled by custom drinks, laughs, and talking about life! It was truly a surreal experience that we will never forget.

This hotel is the absolute definition of paradise. Nouredine and his team look after you with consummate skill from the moment you step off your flight until you board your return.
The Island of Boro Boro is stunningly beautiful and the hotel is expertly set up to make sure you fully enjoy. The overwater bungalows are beautifully prepared and allow immediate access to the pristine waters and the beautiful tropical fish that you co-habit with. The hotel is environmentally switched on, has a coral breeding and nurturing program which supports a stunning array of fish making snorkeling a real treat.
The hotel has three different restaurants and the food is fantastic in all, superbly blending local and French culinary skills. We booked a romantic dinner on the beach which was fantastic, well worth doing! We were superbly looked after by Michel for the evening . He managed to create exactly the right balance of serving our needs and keeping a low profile to allow us to enjoy a romantic evening!
We ate a couple of times at Sands Restaurant and enjoyed the more relaxed casual atmosphere. Aeana helped us navigate the Tahitian local beers as well as ensuring our wine glasses were kept topped up!
Over all the staff were incredible, their smiles and greetings infectious and the service first rate. We appreciate the help from Christophe, Assistant Manager, to navigate some complex changes to our schedule with minimum fuss and maximum efficiency.
All in all a fabulous hotel in a wonderful location and a top class resort. Highly recommend.

We had an exceptional experience at the Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa. As frequent travelers with high standards for luxury accommodations, we were thoroughly impressed by the resort’s outstanding service and quality. The IHG values of "Showing Care" and "Aiming Higher" were evident in every aspect of our stay.
After visiting several other luxury properties in Bora Bora, it’s clear that Thalasso Spa stands apart with its unparalleled location, thoughtfully designed rooms, and overall quality of experience. Special recognition goes to Ms. Sophie J. at the front desk, along with Lou and Antoine in Dining, for their exceptional efforts in making our special occasion unforgettable. Their personalized touches turned a wonderful trip into a truly remarkable experience. Even the new General Manger stopped by to say hello and inquire how is our stay going.
We would enthusiastically recommend this resort to our friends and family.

Going to Bora Bora your expectations are high. When we arrived at the resort each step was taken to make sure our expectations were met. The transfer from the airport was fast and efficient (though a significant added cost that is a little disproportionate to the value of a standard boat taxi). However upon arriving at the dock we were met and given a personal tour of the property before arriving at our room. It was all we could have hoped. Spacious seating and sleeping areas and the view of Mt. Otemanu was incredible. Everything in the room was well maintained. The staff was attentive both with regard to in-room needs and at the restaurants. The activities staff arranged excursions to attend the local Heiva i Bora Bora (local singing and dancing festival) which is a true experience if you happen to be on the island at the proper time. I thought that the trip would be a once in a lifetime experience, but now I can’t wait to go back.

This resort is simply outstanding – luxurious and relaxing, yet fun and interesting at the same time. Our bungalow was extremely comfortable. It was well-designed so that you have a lot of room and separate areas for relaxing and sleeping. Our super-comfortable bed faced a floor-to-ceiling window with a view of the lagoon, beach, and pass to the Pacific Ocean. It was wonderful to spend some time every morning just relaxing and waking up to the beautiful scene in front of us. The bathroom was well thought-out, with double sinks and a nice soaking tub. The rest of the resort was equally well-planned. The beach area was beautiful, with plenty of shaded lounge chairs available for looking out over the lagoon and at Mt. Otemanu. The restaurants were great, with really good food and ample options for even picky eaters. The pool area is beautiful and overlooks the mountain as well. The views everywhere on the property are stunning! We did several treatments at the spa, and they were all wonderful. The massage tables look down through glass inserts in the floor so that you can see the coral reef and fish below. There are many things to do at the resort besides spa and sunbathing. Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and snorkel gear are available, and we never had a problem finding something to do. The “lagoonarium” on the property is absolutely amazing – so many different species of coral and fish live there, and you see something different every day. Eagle rays and fish come and go as they please. We rented a bungalow with a pool, which was nice because of the private views it afforded, but we honestly didn’t use the pool that much because the lagoon on which the resort is located is basically like a giant swimming pool itself – very calm, with little in the way of currents. We did do some off-property activities (reserved through the concierge): the beginner scuba diving was our favorite (30-min dive in a very large, safe coral reef diving to 6 meters), but we also enjoyed the Waverunner and ATV tours. The staff at the hotel were warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. The resort is not too big, which gives it a very private, exclusive feel. NOTE: If you want to party, this is not the resort for you. This resort is for relaxation and exploring, and rude behavior is not tolerated. We saw some drunk people who were asked to leave the restaurant because they were being obnoxious. That said, this was honestly the best vacation I have ever had, with a good balance of relaxation and fun. I only wish we could have spent more time there! Some tips: 1) bring water shoes, as you will need to walk through some coral pieces before you hit the sandy bottom of the lagoon; 2) try to schedule a massage and/or facial for right after you arrive, as it will help with relaxation after long flights; 3) use the reef-safe sunscreen they have available at the pool and reapply often; 4) take advantage of the breakfast-and-dinner-included packages, as food can be pretty expensive otherwise.

It is hard to describe this paradise within a paradise. The resort itself is perfect with nothing to complain, a dream of the South Pacific come true. We stayed in a spacious and tastefully furnished overwater villa with views of the turquoise lagoon and Mont Otemanu. We swam and snorkeled in the warm water, saw many colorful fish, stingrays, and Blacktip reef sharks. Service is exemplary, staff are helpful and friendly providing a relaxed and hospitable atmosphere.
Breakfast was good with a wide selection of made-to-order egg-dishes, raw and half-cooked fish, crêpes, sweets, fresh fruit etc.
However, à la carte dinner in the restaurants “Sands” and “Reef” was disappointing. What landed on our plates was not the best result that you would expect from a seasoned chef, but uninspired fare that any beginner could do. This is doubly sad because, first, the quality of the raw materials certainly is outstanding, as we could confirm during the brilliant Polynesian Buffet, and second, the price-performance ratio is unnecessarily inadequate – there is much room for improvement with a little more effort in the kitchen.

Pros:
-incredible location: views of Mt. Otemanu are unmatched, area for swimming/paddling much larger than other resorts. Beach area was large and had lots of chairs + shade. One thing to note, the beach has some rocks at the initial point of entry, you may want water shoes. The water is so blue and refreshing—we’ve been to many beautiful beaches and this is the most incredible water I’ve ever seen
-little to no bugs, very impressive for a tropical location. Normally I’m a mosquito magnet and I only had a couple bites all week
-atmosphere: very quiet and peaceful, the vibes are luxurious and romantic. Most people are couples, a few families with small children or friend trips
-recreation: kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, snorkeling included for free. We didn’t snorkel on the property, there are some fish/rays in the lagoonarium. Gorgeous infinity pool with view of Mt Otemanu has flavored water and free sun bum sunscreen
-free filtered water stations all over the property and they give you a nice reusable water bottle at check in!
-entertainment: Polynesian show twice/week, fire dancing show, daily cultural activities at the pool at 12pm. All free for hotel guests
-food: fresh and lots of variety, breakfast buffet was delicious and diverse. Fish and tropical fruits were aplenty, lots of international French/south Asian/Polynesian options
-drinks: pricey ($20-$30 unless happy hour, then 50% off certain drinks from 5-6pm) but delicious and strong. Wine from France/Tahiti was much more affordable than American wine, limited beer options, lots of liquor options + local flavored rums
-rooms: very large, comfortable, lots of amenities, free mini bar restocked daily (two cokes, two sprites, two mango juices, two sparkling waters, still filtered water, two small snacks), free nespresso coffee and nice variety of teas + electric kettle. The tub was comfortable and had a beautiful view from a large picture window. The shower was huge with a rain shower head. Bed was comfortable, lots of lighting options. A/C was powerful and two overhead fans kept the room cool
-toiletries smell AMAZING, just like the tiare flowers they use to decorate the rooms
-all the rooms are overwater bungalows, our beach view room 202 was one of the best non-Otemanu view rooms. Instead of facing the pool/hotel property we faced the beach outside the property which was much quieter and more private. The deck has a table, two regular chairs, two lounge chairs, an outdoor shower to rinse the salt water and a ladder to climb into the ocean!
-staff: very helpful and kind, seem to really enjoy their work. The housekeeping and concierge were especially fantastic.
Cons:
-pricey, which is pretty much unavoidable for Bora Bora. Some ways to save money include packing a few bottles of wine/liquor in your checked luggage, bringing non perishable snacks from home, purchase trip through Costco to get breakfast and dinner included. We also traveled in shoulder season (first week of November) which was considerably cheaper than even a couple weeks earlier in mid October.
-some isolated issues with service. For example when we checked in the paper we signed said check in was at 2pm, then we were told it was 3pm. When I pointed this out the staff said the time had always been 3pm, even though the paper clearly said 2pm. The front desk staff also said they would email us when the room was ready, which they never did. We requested a guest wifi password to use before our room was ready, the code they gave us didn’t work and we had to go ask for another one. These are small inconveniences but for the price you’re paying and after a long trip it was annoying. Other than a couple other small things (requesting a golf cart ride to the boat dock for an excursion that never arrived, requesting body lotion and receiving shower gel instead) the service was excellent.
-remote location, which makes sense considering the hotel’s location on a Motu (barrier island off the coast of the main island). You can take the boat shuttle to the sister resort Intercontinental Le Moana on the main island and then walk/take a cab to town to purchase cheaper groceries/etc. The shuttle is $34/pp roundtrip unless you book an excursion like renting a car or scooter
Overall: besides a few hiccups in service it was an incredible property that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing and luxurious vacation. We will definitely be back some day!
A few tips for Tahiti travel in general:
-I’d highly recommend purchasing the IHG Ambassador status for $225 USD to be eligible for early check in and late check out. We got to stay in our room until 4pm which was a lifesaver for the 6pm flight from Bora Bora back to Papeete. Otherwise you can use a day room for an hour to change/shower but it’s much more comfortable to relax in your room
-The Papeete airport does not have any air conditioning except in the Air Tahiti Nui lounge. We purchased passes for $55/pp in advance and it was a lifesaver to get some A/C + a shower after hours of being hot + sweaty
-Cash is great to have on hand in town, the hotels will just charge everything to your room
-Tipping is not necessary but I found we received lots of gratitude and even better service when strategically tipping (especially beach/pool drink service and housekeeping)

The most amazing resort/hotel I've ever experienced. My husband and I stayed 5 nights and loved every minute. Here's why...
Stunningly beautiful manicured grounds!
Quiet, serene, relaxing setting. If you want action packed, this is not the place for you!
Comfy beds, turn down service at night, beautiful view from bed.
Amazingly crystal clear blue water right off of our deck.
No mosquitos at the resort or Bora Bora (when we went in Nov.)
The staff take care of every detail you can think of and are ready to help always.
Great breakfast buffet, although the dinner food wasn't super amazing, just ok. The pizza at the Sands restaurant was really good for our lunch time at the poolside.
The pool water was the perfect temperature, was never crowded and there was sunscreen for anyone to use. They also had flavored water in a dispenser.
We didn't take a pool float as suggested and we really didn't miss it.
The beach - beautiful white sand, crystal clear water, lounge chairs and umbrellas for everyone. Felt like our own private beach most of the time.
The over water bungalow was spacious with a living room, a separate bedroom and a good size bathroom with shower and separate soaker tub overlooking the lagoon.
The benefit of a transition "dry room" where you can shower and change before you check in and after you check out of your bungalow. They have the luggage in the room for you for about 45 minutes.
They gave us metal water bottles as a gift upon arrival so we could refill water all day wherever we went.
We got a Bora Bora bliss massage at the spa. It was heavenly! We had use of the spa for the entire day since we payed for the massage. We spent most of our time in the jacuzzi that overlooked the lagoon.
The concierge will help you with any dinner reservation or tour you need. They're super helpful. When you book through them, the transportation off the motu is included. If you want to take the shuttle boat to Bora Bora without a tour, it will cost around $35 per person where they drop you off at the Intercontinental Moana.
Cons... hard to think of any...
I guess the golf carts that the staff drive around. Sometimes there is some "traffic" ;)
Expensive food yes, but just about as much as it would cost for an expensive burger at six flags or the airport.

We have had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Thalasso Spa. Words cannot describe the amazing experience that my husband and I had. Our overwater bungalow was absolutely stunning! So beautifully appointed and so spacious. From the time we arrived we were treated like royalty! We were met by Emma when we arrived at the wharf who was so amazing. So friendly and so professional, we knew we were in for something very special. She showed us around the resort and explained where everything was. We were then checked in and were given a lovely welcome drink and towels to refresh us! Throughout our stay Emma checked in on us to see if we needed anything.
We swam in the crystal turquoise water, we relaxed, we drank cocktails and we dined each night in the restaurants. The food and service was something that we have never experienced before! The service was outstanding! The buffet breakfast is also something very special. There is a huge array of different options available and I must say the fresh coconut bread and homemade mango jam was something that I looked forward to every morning!
We cannot speak more highly of the staff at this resort, they go out of their way to make your stay something so memorable. The cleaning staff leave lovely messages for you each day on the mirror in your bungalow, this I thought was so beautiful. Everybody welcomes you with a smile and a lovely greeting!
There is an abundance of soft fluffy towels, beach towels and the toiletries are amazing, the bed and pillows are like sleeping in a cloud! I have never felt as relaxed or as happy as I was during our stay and we were so busy swimming, snorkelling, relaxing and just being present in the day. We swam at the beach, the pool and every afternoon off the steps of our bungalow. The whole experience at this resort was something that will stay with us forever! Even leaving the resort ( which we didn't want to do!) was so special. We were treated like family, this was so beautiful! We want to personally thank Emma who was so amazing and made our stay something out of this world! We simply cannot wait to come back again and again!

Free use of paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling equipment made it easy to enjoy the water; above and below the surface. We are so grateful for the staff and the entire team for creating such a memorable experience for us. They should be proud of the culture of service, caring and excellence they have created. Well done…we will be back and recommend this property others.

From the moment we set foot on the island, we were treated to the highest level of luxury and service imaginable. The overwater villas are pure perfection – elegantly designed with a seamless blend of modern comfort and island charm. The resort's beauty is unparalleled, with lush tropical gardens, pristine beaches, and views that leave you breathless. The culinary experiences were equally exceptional, offering gourmet meals with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Beautiful location—I mean, it’s Bora Bora. We stayed in a plunge pool bungalow. The room was nice, though a bit worn, but it was clean. The bed, however, was terrible; it felt like we were sleeping on cement. My favorite part was the deck—great views, and I loved seeing the wildlife.
We were there for 12 days, and not once were we checked in on by management. For the amount of money spent, I would have expected more than just a stale piece of cake. I understand most guests are there for honeymoons or romantic occasions, so they should have this stuff down by now. But come on.
Lastly, the food—it wasn’t spectacular, but given that it’s an island, that’s somewhat expected. Overall, I would go back to Bora Bora, but I’d probably stay at the Conrad or Four Seasons next time. The IHG brand leaves a lot to be desired.

We really enjoyed our stay, booked at quite a savings through Costco. Staff was gracious. Our overwater bungalow was haute Tahitian, well-appointed and spacious. The see-thru coffee table was a hoot. The only complaint is that the sofa needs to be cleaned or replaced. Our room was kept spotless. The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks and purified water. There was a Keurig but I brought my own coffee and French press and used their tea kettle.
Superb concierges, especially Maxime.
We found the food better than the reviews lead us to believe. Two of our night five nights were buffets. Unparalleled sashimi. Some sushi rice would have been welcome, though. Plenty of cooked fish variety. Nice selection of tropical starches, including roast bananas. Got most of our veggies from under the Faa chicken. They raise some of their own produce and the salad with passion fruit vinaigrette was wildly tasty.
On the nights we ordered off the menu we were happy with everything except a flat out raw shrimp ravioli. Yikes! While this did not inspire confidence, the lamb shank was fall-off-bone tender and the fried parrot fish was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Yummy, but too small a portion. Came with quinoa and a well-made lemony emulsion. Those who make most of their meals out of vegetables will have to work hard, though.
The bakery stood out as the highlight. Excellent French bread. Croissants were as good as I've ever had them, especially the almond croissant.
Of course, we want to eat tropical when we go to the tropics, so the fruit at breakfast was disappointing. The papaya and pineapple faded out after two-three days so we were pretty much left with watermelon (excellent) and underripe kiwis. Nothing notable about the juices. There was enough variety, otherwise, on the breakfast buffet to last us our five days. The coffee was good--not as burnt as the French like it, more to American tastes.
So, summing up, the food wasn't world class but it was more than adequate. The wines by the glass were good quality and the Hinano beer truly great.
Nice little fitness room with space for stretching and yoga pads.
You can't walk outside the property but a short stroll to and along the oceanside is like crossing to another world.
It was a delight to gaze at the beautiful and varied fish every time we walked from bungalow to the pool or Reef Restaraunt.
Somehow, it wasn't clear to me that if you ask for your bike it means, *a bike on the main island.* The deal is that they waive the $40 RT shuttle boat fee if you book any Avis product--bike, ebike, scooter, EV or car--with the concierge. My bike, $17-20 was decent, although I think the gearing was probably too high for most people as the tires were fat (like myself) and the wind can be strong. We also rented an EV, an Eli, that we enjoyed to circle the lush main island, stopping at the kinda sparse notable sites. $130 per day, including shuttle.
Thank you, Intercontinental staff, for our trip to paradise!

Beautiful location for romance
An absolutely spectacular experience at intercontinental thalasso spa Bora Bora.
We got an upgrade to a overwater villa with our own infinity pool. I highly recommend joining IHG rewards. It is totally worth it.
The staff were fantastic throughout the resort. I recommend the resort and the scenery was spectacular.

My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa for our 20th anniversary trip this year. We spent 6 glorious nights in our overwater villa and loved every single moment. Upon arrival at the airport when we received our flower lei, and then we were given a great water bottle by the resort and taken to the boat shuttle - the wonderful customer service began. We never had one interaction with a resort staff member that was not to our liking. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. Check-in was easy and we were whisked away to our overwater villa. I was so impressed with the villa! When you look online at photos, you always underestimate because photos can make things more than what they truly are, but this was not the case. The villas are spacious and immaculate. We had a pool villa and the pool was perfect and larger than expected. Throughout the week, the housekeeping staff kept us tidy and left us inspirational messages on our mirror. We were grateful.
We enjoyed the beach, taking pictures with the Instagram-famous swing in front of Mt. Otemanu, and the drink/snack service while at the beach. Another day we spent by the pool and enjoyed the same service. The poolboy hut has SPF50 sunscreen available and cool, citrus water to enjoy.
We had a couple of lunches at the Sands, but also enjoyed a lunch or two at our villa while we spent the day relaxing in our plunge pool and the lagoon water. We snorkeled in the lagoon and floated in the blissfully warm and luxuriously blue water. When we had room service delivered, they always set the table so nicely and picked up the dish tray promptly after.
Our room's mini-bar was stocked daily with sparkling water, softdrinks and juice. Two bottles of the resorts water were always left for us to enjoy. Their water is some of the best I have ever had! They have their own filtration system and it is delicious, as far as water goes!
In the evening, we enjoyed our happy hour at Bubbles with Evanui, and then usually had dinner where there was a show. We enjoyed dinner at the Reef with the Polynesian show one night and then at the Sands for the fire show another.
Breakfast was always at the Reef where we were treated very well and loved the buffet. There was plenty of choice and an omelette bar. Try the tiare jam - so good!
Our stay was memorable and luxurious and we highly recommend this resort. It was the perfect 20th anniversary trip.
The only downside had nothing to do with the resort - Westjet lost my luggage, so I had 5 days with no luggage. (grateful that I packed a little bit of my stuff in my husband's suitcase and my carry on). I will say, when it did arrive, they delivered it to my villa and the ONE night I had a dress to wear to dinner, we walked out of our villa and Emma was driving by and she offered to take photos of us, and since it was my only night with a dress, once we got to the beach, she made sure we did sunset photos with Mt. Otemanu as well. Thank you Emma!

We had such a great experience at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort. Our OWB was great and met our high expectations. The water, the views and the accommodations were amazing. We loved the staff, they were all so friendly, happy and accommodating. There were so many that were helpful and I wish I could remember each of their names. Specifically, some that I can remember their names that provided exceptional service were Paul, Clement, Vero, Zoe, Leilani, and Teri. We can't wait until we can return to the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort.

Our honeymoon at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Thalasso was everything I could’ve hoped for—romantic, peaceful, and completely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the island’s beauty was breathtaking, but what really made this trip special was the attention to detail and the amazing people we met.
One thing I really appreciated was how clean and well-kept everything was. The gym was spotless and fully stocked, which made it easy to stay active even while soaking up all the relaxation. I also surprised my husband with a spa day for his 30th birthday, and it ended up being one of my absolute favorite parts of the trip. The massage was next-level—so calming and restorative. The spa staff took such great care of us, making sure we felt completely pampered from start to finish. It was the perfect balance to all the adventure we had exploring the island.
I also have to give a huge and very special special shoutout to Kerian, one of the bartenders at the resort. He seriously made our nights! His energy, friendliness, and great sense of humor created such a fun vibe, and we always looked forward to stopping by when he was working. We spent hours chatting, learning a little French, and just enjoying his incredible hospitality. He went above and beyond, making us feel less like guests and more like friends.
This trip was full of beautiful memories, and a huge part of that is thanks to the incredible people who made our stay so special. I’ll always rememeber Kerian and look back on our honeymoon with so much gratitude, and I’d love to come back to this magical place again one day.

Truly paradise!
5 stars !
My wife and I just returned from spending eight days at the InterContinental® Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa hotel.
This is our second stay at this resort, and our second stay did not disappoint, and only reinforced the reasons why we were so anxious to return. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here in 2023 and we were so anxious to return we decided to celebrate our 30 years “together” by returning in 2025!
Bora Bora is an unbelievably beautiful destination, however, the InterContinental® Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa hotels location is exceptional and the breathtaking views of Mount Otemanu and the position on the lagoon, we believe is the best in Bora Bora in our opinion.
I will say that this opinion is heavily influenced by, the most exceptional aspect of the resort… and that is the people!
The Beauty, the Location, and being blessed to have the opportunity to check off the bucket list “Overwater Bungalow”, the views , snorkeling around your bungalow and around the resort, tropical fish, sting rays, eagle rays…these all were amazing, but the part that truly blessed us the most was the people who take such amazing care of you while you stay on the Island!.
I mean everyone…
Everyone, from the General Manager, Front Desk, Restaurant, Bartenders, Pool Staff, Spa , Gift Shop, to those who keep the resort beautiful and clean...they are as kind as can be. Normally, we try to remember names to thank people individually. In this case, we would be naming nearly the entire hotel staff. When we say that everyone was truly kind, we mean truly kind and thoughtful. We also love that the staff was so willing to treat us like family and we enjoyed talking to them and learning about their life on the island.
There are a few specific names that we will specifically mention, but this does not mean that all the others did not deserve a specific thank you…we had not ONE negative interaction with anyone at this resort (includes our first stay) !
We were met at the dock by the General Manager Nouredine Fardad, who joined the others at the dock to welcome us to the resort, (we love the welcoming and send off tradition of “The Pu”, local blowing a conch shell) , we were introduced to several people at the dock including, Paul Duckit who was the guest relation manager. Mr Fardad was so kind to give us his golf cart to be transported to reception as it was raining at that moment! It was a very kind gesture!
Paul was very kind throughout our stay and arranged for our dinner reservations and attendance a the “Fire Show’ (which we loved). He was very responsive to emails and made many gestures to welcome us to the resort and overall was amazing to deal with.
Yvanui is one of the bartenders who provide drinks at the “happy hour” at Bubbles bar and she was not only a very talented “mixologist” …whose drinks were amazing! She was so very kind to us; we wish we could have spent more time talking to her. She shared with Shelly some places to see and shop on the island and was so very generous in giving her some handmade gifts on the day we were leaving …we were truly touched!
Breakfast was always an amazing experience for us, we were so happy to see so many familiar faces at the breakfast buffet…starting with our friend Terri who took such good care of us on our first visit, when she found out that I was interested in trying some of the local “spicy” items she gave me a bottle of homemade “Peppers in Oil” that she prepared at home from her garden on our first trip …she remembered that I liked those and between her and the amazing Chef’s Laorana and Vero…they made sure to get fresh peppers from the garden and made the most amazing spicy omelets for me every day!
Even better than the food was all the smiling faces who truly seemed happy to see us every morning and we are missing the sound of ““Ia Ora Na”…the ladies who were so attentive to us every day and introduced me to MOCACHINOS! And I was addicted!
Fanaui and Moises (sorry for the spelling) who take care of everyone by the pool and beach area…they watch everyone and take care of the towels, do cultural demonstrations and Fanaui plays the ukulele and is a pretty good singer!! They work hard but always with a smile!
Capocine works at the front desk (reception, check in and check out) and she was also super helpful and took the time to explain everything very thoroughly and to share with us about what brought her to the island!
Everyone at the concierge was excellent…we neglected to write down the name of the young lady that assisted us with getting the rental car but she was very sweet and very smart…fluent in 4 languages!
The housekeeping ladies were also very kind and kept our room immaculate and well stocked! They also wrote us daily notes on the mirror, and we loved seeing those after returning to the room!
We were sad to leave the resort and the people who felt like our friends and who treated us so amazing. The sound of the “Pu” blowing as we left in the boat transfer was a little sad! (oh yeah the boat captains were also super nice!)
I could write more... but in closing …Bora Bora is expensive, but with the views, experience, and the people... it is worth it!
Thank you!!
Mauru'uru roa,!!
To everyone.
Lyman and Shelly Watson

This was my lifelong bucket list destination and wanted it to live up to my fantasy. This resort truly delivered. From the initial communication, the concierge staff was prompt, courteous and eager to assist with all our needs. The location is stunning, with full unobstructed views of the mountain. The bungalows are large, luxurious and well appointed. The property is expansive with lots of beautiful features including a secret garden, overwater wedding chapel, and a pool that overlooks the most amazing views. The staff is friendly, eager to assist and seem committed to delivering a 5 star experience. The food is mostly very good, with the exception of the evening buffet. Prices at the restaurants are high, which is true throughout French Polynesia. We learned that this property will be closing and undergoing a renovation soon and we hope they retain the Polynesian charm and beauty when they re-open. We can’t wait to go back.
