This was our first time to Antigua. We've been to many all inclusives in the carribean over the years, but nothing beats Hammock Cove for luxury. We visited the resort for 10 days at the end of February through the beginning of March. Each couple has its own detached villa with a bar, private patio and plunge pool. Note: the pools are not heated but as a Canadian this was still very pleasant temp. The rooms are supplied with top shelf liquor. The California king beds are very comfy and the pillows are plush. The bathrooms are large and double shower is very large and nice. Water pressure is good too. As mentioned in another recent review on this site, someone was talking about the rooms needing updating... the resort is 5 or so years old and a new section of 10 units were added just this year. We stayed in one of the original units and I can't imagine what the reviewer saw, but everything was updated from what we experienced. As a vegetarian, eating at all inclusives can be difficult. This resort is amazing for Vegetarians! Chef Marco has created amazing vegetarian meals which change each day. He will even create a personalized meal to meet your dietary restrictions. I cannot say enough about the food at the lighthouse restaurant. For the most part the service was great. Troy took very good care of us. The bartenders Joell, Shamarke, Shawna, Nigel and Erik all were very friendly and personable. The beach has some pros and cons. First the pros; All of the beach servers are very nice and helpful. One of the beach servers Julio is literally the best. He would move your umbrella to make sure you are protected from the sun without even having to be asked. He will walk drinks out into the water to you. He is the epitome of what luxury service is. Thank you Julio. Hammock cove provides special food days at the beach. Aside from the beach menu they also have Seafood BBQ, oysters and champagne as well as caviar, among many other things. Being a vegetarian they arranged to bring tofu veggie skewers to my beach chair. Unless you want one of the 6 or so umbrellas on the actual beach you never have to race down in the morning to claim your chairs. There are plenty of seats to go around. As for some cons; The food and drink service could be a bit quicker. The top shelf liquor isn't available at the beach bar. Also the beach bar closes at 4pm. (2hrs before the sun goes down). The beach itself is small but the water is shallow and calm with a nice sandy bottom. This resort is quiet, with minimal nightlife. The bars on the resort are open till 10:30pm. If you want a party vacation you are looking at the wrong place. This is the perfect spot to unwind and let life's worries and stress drift away. We met quite a few Honeymooners as well as Retirees during our time and both demographics equally enjoyed their experience at Hammock Cove. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hammock Cove, and can't wait to return to this little piece of heaven on earth.

Well located small resort with individual villas. The villa’s are in need of an update. The service levels varied between 2 and 5 star, but consistantly inconsistant! If you wish to down cocktails and tequila this is the place for you. If you would like a glass of Champagne before dinner you will need to pay an additional $80 or put up with a glass of Prosecco. The wines that are included are awful, we wouldn’t even cook with these French Vin de pays d’oc wines. House keeping may turn up between 8.30 and 16.30. The Ambassador service is a gimmick and a traditional concierge servive works better. The Lighthouse can produce a good experience but also inconsistant.

All the reviews you will see on this resort are excellent but it just isn't so. The only thing going for it was (most of) the food at dinner. Breakfast and lunch food was not good at all-- even the most basic things like a hamburger just doesn't taste normal. It is "off" or processed or something. Milk is from a box. The beach is TINY- like it is crazy small. And you cannot see a sunset here which is magical in the Caribbean!- plus it is as far from the airport as you can go-- right near the choppy windy Atlantic Ocean. None of the their 3 small pools are heated which was not ok - but neither are the private plunge pools which was beyond upsetting. If your villa doesnt face the sun (and even if it does) the water will not get warm enough to put a foot in even if it is 80 degrees outside. Thin towels, truly rushed average house keepers that don't vacuum (maybe they broom?) and always forget something important. Here is the issue with service: it is poor. These people are untrained with flat unsmiling faces. They do not like their jobs and it shows. This is not a cheap place! Also, we never left the resort because there is no place to go. If you drink a lot- like you want to start at 10am and go all night- come here. But dont expect much else. You will be sick of seeing the same faces all day long in the restaurant and the beach. Yikes- never again.

When we arrived, we were treated to cool towels and cold drinks. Once we arrived in our room, we never wanted to leave. The property is beautiful and people who work here are genuinely happy. On the third day, we met the owner who wanted to make sure that we were enjoying our stay. The accommodations are so awesome, you won't need to leave your room if you don't want to. The food is a bit limited, but it's good and well prepared. Since you are on an island, some kinds of fish (ex Salmon), may not be readily available. I would encourage all visitors to take advantage of the island tour. The history and pride the beautiful people take in their home is heartwarming. My husband and I plan to return!

Hammock Cove is truly a 5 Star resort. The villas are exquisite, well stocked with beverages. The villas are large clean and comfortable. The facility is beautiful and the guests are treated by an excellent staff This is our 3rd trip to Hammock Cove . I would like to make a suggestion. That is the circular floats are anchored with in the middle of a small swim area and I stubbed my foot several times on the anchors. If they were anchored from shore with quality nylon roping guests would be able to extend further out and guest wound able to easily locate the tubing . Also, no anchor. I can’t say enough about the excellence of the lighthouse restaurant, 5+ Stars , thank you Chef! This is an excellent resort located on a beautiful Island

Any issues we had were met with the words “let me see what I can do” and in almost every case were handled quickly and to our satisfaction.

One of the best all inclusives we have stayed at. This is a great resort for complete relaxation. Villas are large and include a large patio with infinity plunge pool, lounge chairs, and a swinging chair. Bathroom is huge and off of the bathroom is a walk in closet . With 24 hour room service you would never have to leave. The food is the star and Chef Marco is leading a great team in the kitchens. The menus change every day for every meal with some parts staying the same. Lots of clean and gluten free options too. Once a week, on the beach there is a seafood bbq, and another day a meat bbq. Breakfast and lunch are great with dinner being the star. On Wednesday’s, Chef Marco hosts a 7 course tasting dinner that is amazing! The other nights are 3 courses with some surprises. Iriana is the sommelier and she has some great wines that are included and of course more you can buy. Several nights with dinner there is live piano music. The steak restaurant opened for dinner during our stay and it is great too. A fun vibe and you can watch all the action happening in the kitchen. In room liquor is high quality and drink fridge is restocked every day with the ability to request more of your favorites. The ambassadors take care of all your requests and reservations Darts are available at the rum bar with Gabriel as the bartender offering rum tastings. There is a game room with a pool table, chess and scrabble. Beach is small but there are plenty of chairs available. Water-sports include paddle boards, kayaks, and a hobie cat. There is another sister resort next door and the ere beach is larger and you can request a day pass to visit. The resort is in a cove which helps block the windy atlantic. It offers a large area to explore via kayak and paddleboard. You can catch a catamaran for a snorkling cruise or go on a fishing trip from the dock at the beach. Devils Bridge National Park is next door and great to walk to anytime of the day. 4 shops are open to buy souvenirs. All of the staff are very friendly and Emily the cat is such a fun cat to visit with at breakfast and lunch.

We actually stayed here for 6 days in December 2023. As I was writing my review for my December 2024 trip to a different Caribbean country, I remembered I never wrote my review of Hammock Cove. That should tell you that it was excellent if a year later I still remember how excellent it was. I would return to Hammock Cove every year if it was up to me. The level of service is unmatched! The waterfront villa was beautiful and plenty of space for two of us. We slept each night with the sliding door partially open so that we could feel the breeze and hear the waves at night. The weather was a little too "cool" to get in our plunge pool as I don't think the sun really hit our pool to warm up the water, but that didn't keep us from spending time on our private patio everyday. The food was delicious and the dinner was wow! New menu every night! We also had lobster on the beach! The staff was equally great and very helpful! We got massages while there and again, awesome! I have nothing negative to say about Hammock Cove. I will return!

This was my third trip to Hammock Cove and my boyfriend's first. We had such an amazing time. The resort itself is so nice - small and quiet. The location right near Devil's bridge is great. The food is amazing. We had dinner at the Lighthouse most nights, but even the last night, with room service, the staff went out of their way to accommodate a food allergy and provide a delicious dinner. What continues to stand out at Hammock Cove is the staff. Such warm and friendly people - looking out to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The ambassadors for our stay, including Vandross, were just terrific checking in on us and making sure we had what we needed. Loved the towel and flower arrangement we came back to one day - so cute and considerate. The staff down at the beach are so nice - one of the gentleman taking us out on the catamaran and going for a swim across the cove with me on our last day. The little kitty who comes around to try to get breakfast out of those staying here was so funny. My boyfriend is already trying to plan a return trip! He loved the food and had so many more things he wanted to try - the new restaurant coming adds to that list! Kept telling all of his friends about his "dream come true" vacation. Only small suggestion is for the swinging chair on the patio - if possible to have a clip or mechanism to secure it - on windy nights it bangs against the wall of the villa. Samantha was always able to get us in for an excursion and anything else we needed including arranging taxis, reservations in their busiest time of year. Our ambassador “D” was always available for us, super helpful and answered every question we had. Joel and Mikey the best personalities for bartenders and make amazing drinks! Chef Marco is an unbelievable chef and actually cares what every single guest thinks about his food. We went here with another couple and it was such a great time. Would recommend and we will definitely be coming back!

This is a lovely place but has a long way to go in my opinion. The access road is appalling, the hugest potholes ever! You are greeted by an ambassador who takes you in the bar for a drink whilst he takes your luggage to your villa. We had a villa which was overlooking the bay with its own private pool. The villa had full amenities, the double shower was HUGE. The minibar was complimentary and restocked daily with some alcohol and soft drinks. Tea and coffee was available. The outdoor terrace was huge, my only criticism there is that the outdoor beds are hard and sooo uncomfortable, we couldn't use them/. There are paddle-boards and kayaks which were also free to use. My main bugbear was the food/restaurants. There are 2 restaurants, The Lighthouse and The Bistro (where you have breakfast). I had forgotten to pack my husbands long trousers so we weren't allowed to go in the lighthouse at all so we had to go in the bistro every night!! The menu was burgers and pizza which we endured all week. There is a menu for late snacks which starts at 11pm, I asked our ambassador if I could just get a grilled cheese sandwich at 7pm because I just couldnt tolerate another burger and he said that he would try and BEG THE CHEF - I did get one but when you are paying literally thousands and thousands of dollars this is not the treatment you expect!! Another example - on the Tuesday night it was sushi night - we hate sushi so went to the bistro for another burger!! We were told that we weren't allowed to sit at a table (in the empty restaurant) as there were chopsticks on the table!!, we were told that we had to sit at the bar to eat - I have never felt so embarrassed or awkward in my life with drinkers staring. The final straw came when it was time to check out - we called the ambassador to get someone to help us with our luggage - he said no because it was raining!!!! But it was ok for us to get wet through to go to the airport to sit on a plane for 11 hours!!!!! The only nice person there was a lovely lady called Linda - honest - just one! I would not go there again

Any negative reviews on this site are just very picky people. We just got back from celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we had the best time. We went with our sister and brother-in-law who also were celebrating an anniversary. The people of Antigua are the friendliest people and the workers at Hammock Cove are top notch. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to assist us and to make sure we were having a great time. Our ambassadors Leon and Delarno were so attentive and kind. It is amazing with how many couples they are ambassadors for that they remembered so much detail about us and our "likes." I teased them that they were almost too attentive because I was going to expect this service when I got home now! Completely spoiled us. The food was excellent. One of our servers Sophia went above and beyond for us. The rooms were amazing and you could have easily stayed in there all week. If you are looking for wild entertainment throughout the night, this is not the place for you but if you are looking for peace, quiet, kindness, luxury, and relaxation this is #1. We were so sad to leave but are already talking about when we can return. First trip to Hammock Cove but definitely not the last. Worth every penny! P.S. I highly recommend the catamaran snorkeling trip that goes out of Hammock Cove. Captain and Bam Bam were the absolute most fun.

I am writing to share our experience during our recent stay at Hammock Cove, which unfortunately fell far below our expectations for a resort of this caliber, particularly given the significant cost of our stay. Arrival Experience From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. After being dropped off at the bar by an uninviting staff, we waited over 30 minutes to be served. When our ambassador finally greeted us an hour later, he greeted us using my wife's maiden name, showing a lack of attention to our reservation details. When we reached our villa, we were hit by a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which was only partially covered by a strong air freshener. Our ambassador stated that there’s no smoking in the villas yet I pulled an ashtray out of the villa safe. Our ambassador did not follow up with us at all and when we did see him he got us confused with another guest. Villa Condition As we started to settle in, we noticed ants throughout the villa—crawling on the shower tiles, under the desk, around the bed and on the bathroom counter. To make things worse, we found a dead grasshopper on the shower windowsill. This was especially frustrating since we were paying $1,600 per night for a waterfront view. When we raised our concerns, an ambassador from another sector seemed surprised but assured us he would take care of it. He promised to get back to us with a solution before cleaning our room, but instead, he and the cleaning crew entered our villa without our knowledge. This made us uncomfortable, as our important belongings were left exposed during our dinner reservation. Service and Amenities The next morning, the resort manager Ms. Alex offered to relocate us to a different villa, but not until Tuesday. We arrived on Sunday. Although we initially considered leaving due to our disgustingly dirty villa, we decided to give the resort another chance. Ms. Alex reassured to make things better for our stay. If it wasn’t for the unobstructed ocean view we were accommodated, we would have left the resort. Ms. Alex was very professional and understood our concerns. Unfortunately, service continued to decline, characterized by long wait times for drinks, low-energy staff, and a general lack of professionalism. The beach staff clearly didn’t want to be there. We couldn’t find anyone so we took it upon ourselves to go to the beach bar and order drinks only to be told we have to order with our servers. I’m talking they were lost for up to 30+ mins sometimes. It was also concerning that the resort frequently ran out of liquor, beer, and ice despite only accommodating 25/30 couples. I just don’t understand the disconnect here between the positive reviews we have seen versus the reality of being at this resort. It doesn’t add up. We feel fooled. Don’t you be fooled too! Do your research before coming to Hammock Cove. Dining Experience We recently dined at the Lighthouse for their seven-course meal. While we experienced a longer wait for drinks and food on our first visit, the lively atmosphere allowed us to enjoy each other's company. On our second visit, our server was attentive, and although there was a minor issue with plate settings, we appreciated their dedication to making our experience pleasant. When we encountered a dish that wasn't quite right during the 7 course meal, Chef Marco promptly apologized, demonstrating a commitment to quality and safety. It showed his true character and professionalism being the outstanding chef he truly is. Despite these challenges, the dishes we enjoyed were thoughtfully prepared, and we could taste the care that went into each course. Overall, it was a unique experience that highlighted the restaurant's dedication to improvement and guest satisfaction. Pros: • Some staff members were friendly and accommodating. • The massage therapists provided excellent service. • The gym facilities were well-maintained. • Beautiful view of the landscape, cove, and ocean. • Spacious rooms & bathrooms. • Air condition in villas • Beautiful outdoor infinity pools • Plenty of seating • Clean beach • Water sports & friendly staff • Pizza, tacos, and burgers are good (lunch menu). (Seafood & beach BBQ were delicious) • Ambassador Kenya was the best and very professional and accommodating. • Troy - Manager at the Lighthouse was very kind, professional and very accommodating. • Server Shiloh at Lighthouse restaurant was fantastic. • Chef at the Lighthouse was amazing! Greeted all of his guests and prepared some of the finest entrees and desserts. He is a truly remarkable human. • Gabriel - Rum Bar was amazing! He is an incredible mixologist. (Coconut Rum Punch was our favorite cocktail). • Ventured out to Shirley’s heights for the evening for a truly amazing sunset and a delicious local bbq. It’s a must see. • Cons: • Unwelcoming arrival and lack of proper service. Dumped off at the bar upon arrival and waited for an extended period of time. • Villa condition was unacceptable: unclean and infested with ants. (Once we asked to have the ants treated they had them removed). • Long waits for food and drinks; often ran out of supplies including ice at the beach. Ran out of tequila and corona often. • Coffee is not good. (Bring your own Keurig K-cups). • No snacks in room (other than a small jar of stale corn nuts). • Small meal portions and diluted drinks. (Had to ask for doubles). • Some Inattentive staff lacking energy and professionalism. • Some overgrown walkways made navigation difficult. (Most of resort was kept clean) • Lack of proactive management and oversight. • Villas are not so private (close together) • Limited menu on beach for lunch. • Only two restaurants (one of them is without air conditioning). • Rented and charged for a movie that we couldn’t watch it due to tv settings. Not user friendly. • Some Villas are Infested with ants and grasshoppers. (don’t leave your balcony doors open). (However, there are gaps in the door frames and under main door so nothings stopping them from invading your villa). • Room service takes at least an hour or more) • There’s no privacy anywhere on the cove or waterfront views near Devils Bridge. The whole national park (Devils Bridge) can see right onto your balcony. • Waterfront view of ocean is the shadiest side of the resort. Only a bit of sun in the early morning. Villa plunge pool is a bit on the cool side but refreshing after a long hot day on the beach. • Rum bar closes at 9 pm - best bar to have a drink at. • The road leading in and out to Hammock Cove is atrocious. Very rocky and bumpy. Does not look inviting. Overall, our honeymoon experience was marred by some of the cons and it has left us feeling disappointed. We made the best out of what we had for our 7 day stay. For the money we have spent at this resort we could have had much better accommodations at other resorts in the Caribbean. We will most likely NOT return to Hammock Cove at the high cost they charge per night at the subpar service they provide to their guests. If you’re seeking a laid-back, relaxing couples resort with stunning views, this is a great option. Beach is kept nice. However, be aware that if you have low expectations for service, this might be the right place for you. Given the price you pay, we expected a higher level of service throughout our stay, especially for a “luxury” resort. Everyone has a unique experience here. While this is a couples resort, many guests come with friends or socialize with other couples. We chose to keep to ourselves some of the time we spent there during our 7-day stay because we wanted to relax on our honeymoon. Suggestions for the management team at Hammock Cove: Greet your guests with cold drinks and or your signature cocktails upon arrival and have ambassadors ready and informed with details, in an air conditioned climate. Never make your guests wait around or shove them off to a bar with subpar service. Train your staff to be more attentive and have some personality. Play some music on the beach or throughout the resort and interact with your guests more. We saw one band play for a couple hours one time during our stay. Have more than two servers serving the beach and or pool levels. I saw one ambassador the entire week interacting with guests on the beach giving them fist bumps making them feel appreciated. Of course it was Kenya because he is the man.
