Nestled along the serene shores of Banderas Bay, the Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta is a dreamy haven that captures the essence of a perfect honeymoon escape. As honeymooners, my partner and I had the pleasure of staying at this enchanting resort, and it exceeded all our expectations. This idyllic destination masterfully combines traditional Mexican charm with a touch of upscale sophistication, offering an unforgettable experience that makes it an ideal choice for couples seeking a romantic and memorable getaway.
Location and Setting:
The resort’s location is nothing short of breathtaking. Situated on the soft sands of Banderas Bay, it provides stunning beachfront views, creating the perfect backdrop for a honeymoon. Just a short drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta, it offers easy access to the vibrant cultural hub while still maintaining a sense of tranquility and privacy.
Accommodations:
The accommodations at Villa Del Palmar are a sanctuary of comfort and luxury. The rooms are elegantly decorated with a Mexican touch, and they are spacious and well-appointed. The king-sized bed and private balcony in our room provided us with the perfect setting for romance. Waking up to the sound of waves and a view of the ocean was simply magical.
Amenities:
The resort offers a range of amenities that cater to couples seeking relaxation, adventure, and culinary delights. The two freeform pools are the epitome of leisure, and we spent hours lounging by the pool, sipping on tropical drinks, and enjoying each other’s company.
For food lovers, there are three delightful dining options, each offering a unique culinary experience. From traditional Mexican cuisine to international delights, our taste buds were treated to a fantastic journey.
The real gem of Villa Del Palmar is its state-of-the-art spa. Honeymooners can indulge in a variety of rejuvenating treatments, massages, and therapies, all while being pampered in a tranquil, oceanfront setting. The spa experience was the perfect way to unwind and connect on a deeper level.
Romantic Activities:
The resort also offers a range of activities designed for couples. From sunset beach walks to stargazing on the pristine shores, there’s no shortage of romantic moments waiting to be shared. We even indulged in a private, candlelit dinner on the beach, which felt like something out of a fairy tale.
Service and Staff:
The staff at Villa Del Palmar deserve a special mention. Their warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile made our stay even more memorable. They truly understand the importance of a honeymoon and make you feel like royalty.
In conclusion, Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta is an exceptional destination for honeymooners. It combines the enchantment of Mexican tradition with the luxury of a modern resort, creating an ambiance of romance and relaxation that’s hard to match. The resort’s stunning setting, sumptuous amenities, and thoughtful service make it a top choice for couples celebrating their love. Our honeymoon experience here was nothing short of magical, and we would highly recommend it to all those seeking an unforgettable romantic escape.

Mostly a review of the food.

All good. Exactly what was promised but nothing mind-blowing except the customer service provided by Gustavo and Ricardo in F&B. Gustavo in the buffet was the best of all - every day he greeted everyone with a real smile and enthusiasm. He never walks - he hurries from place to place and table to table making sure everyone is taken care of.
Ricardo, as we understand it, is the F&B Director and he went above and beyond to take care of us. We mentioned to Gus that we were disappointed that the Seafood restaurant was never open (bc of special events) and /or only served buffet style so he referred us to Ricardo. Ricardo took extra special care of us. There was another event that night which was served buffet style but Ricardo set us up with menu service (our orders taken a day in advance with the chef himself) and reserved seats for us front and center for the show. We truly felt taken care of. Again, Ricardo had the juice to make it happen but Gustavo set the whole thing in motion.
All of us spoiled Americans know that things down south work on Mexico time but, to be quite honest, the Villa Palmar was the slowest service we've experienced overall. It's not bad - just set your expectations accordingly.
The buffet breakfast was fine but we quickly learned that ordering off the menu was the way to go. It takes MUCH longer to dine but it was well worth it. I ordered 6 different things in our 1 week stay bc they had that many appealing options. Miranda the hostess and Celes the server really added to our enjoyment there.
You'll notice that we're mostly talking about the restaurants - that's because the rest of it is exactly as you'd expect for a Mexican resort, but not much more. No surprises - positive or negative.
Here's the one major piece of advice - don't bother with the all-inclusive for 2 reasons. #1 - there are plenty of places near Villa Del Palmar within walking distance to go. #2 - the prices of drinks and food on property are not exorbitant anyway. (That's not just to say they should raise their individual prices - it's also to say that the price for their AI option is way too high.)
Finally, if you decide to go to their TimeShare presentation (we were obligated to), it's held off site at their Flamingos location. It's a 20-30 minute ride each way (depending on traffic) so it takes up much more of your vacation than otherwise. We purposely planned our presentation for a rainy day but they cancelled it that day - because it was raining - so we had to waste valuable good weather to attend.
Anyway, don't let the bad interfere with the good. A wonderful experience awaits you as long as you're not looking for the 4 Seasons.

This was our first trip to PV and stayed here knowing it was one of their older resorts and it did not show its age. Everything was excellent from the opening check in and intro to the sad good bye till next year. Magali was the first to welcome us and did she ever shine. By far a highlight of the trip just meeting her and receiving her help and kind words with that amazing smile. Special thanks to Malena and Martin. All very wonderful. Resort was clean and exceeded my expectation. Can’t wait for next year and can’t wait for the newly built resort coming in 2027. Great job VDP!!!

Staying here with my boyfriend for our birthday week. Ok here we go.... the resort needs major updating but from my understanding it's slated to be demolished in a year. Our accommodations was not what I'm use to but I will say the staff here are very pleasant. The food here for an all inclusive was actually extremely fresh and tasty. Overall we're having a good stay. I would recommend staying at the sister resort which is newer.

We have been to this resort four times now. Very relaxing and a great location. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Alfriedo (concierge) was great and helped us out when I needed some medical assistance. They put fun shows just about every evening.

The beach is very walkable, rooms are spacious and equipped if you choose not to take the all-inclusive option. Two pools and lots of activities, including a Kids’ Club. If you go to the Japanese restaurant (my fave) then Yashinoki, Cesar, Nicolas & Jashiga will ensure a perfect dining experience!

I have traveled the world, but have never been treated with such loving care before anywhere. My husband and I were honored like true family members all over the hotel, but especially by
Agustin and his crew in the center restaurant for breakfast each morning. Even when I was a bit lost while shopping down the street, they came to my rescue, providing directions. Their English is superb, and the food is outstanding. I swam nearly 2 miles a day in their giant pool, complete with waterfall and 2 bridges to pass through. If you enjoy organized activities, there are many. For lux shopping, you need only walk one half block up the street. The rooms are quiet and secure. You don't have to be a celebrity to stay there, but will be treated like one, regardless. This is pure Mexico at its very best!

Great experience at Villa del Palmar. After a small mishap during breakfast, Chef Carlos and Chef Christian offered a special dinner for me and my wife. We arrived at 6pm and we received a warm welcome as usual at the Italian restaurant. After being sited, the chefs brought several delicious courses for our delight, all of them beautifully prepared, presented and mouthwatering delicious. I would also like to mention the great service provided by his staff, Rubi, Ricardo, Emiliano, Ernesto and Pati. Although, I can’t recall the names of the bartenders at the Patron restaurant, I do however want to say they are experts in the art of mixology.

Be aware this has become a low class resort with equal bad and expensive food so don't book inclusive as it is a waste of money. Check in was lengthy caused by many questions we wonder what they had to do with our stay. They already offered us a $40.00 per night upgrade (we declined) before we even saw the room.
As usual right after we were attacked by your typical lying time share person pretending to be a welcome committee despite we already told her we already had a costly time share we were very disappointed with as we can hardly use it every second year. They now also roam around in big stores like Walmart looking for victims.
Unlike before we got a parking lot/entrance view room where we had to listen all day last Sunday to deafening loud music from across the street were they had a local lunch/dinner party, which included strobe lights pointing at our unit, which almost blinded us.
The maintenance is poor, our bath tub was plugged, broken single power switch, patio door inside handle/lock almost falling off and more. At the pool we could not find two empty lounge chairs together as most were all day covered with towels by people who were not there and towels were not removed as per rule. Before we stayed at The Villa Del Palmar in Cabo where we had the same last problem we also had loud music all day.
No more any Villa del Palmar for us.
