We chose to stay at this resort because of its location within the Valley of the Temples. It was definitely the right decision. We were warmly welcomed from the beginning by Cinzia who gave us advice on how to make the most of the stay by visiting the Valley of the Temple both at the sunset and next day through their private access. No need to queue for tickets as we got them from her. We really enjoyed the dinner which was fine dining at a reasonable price. We only had pasta and risotto from the a la carte menu without having the tasting menu. We were given the chef’s special aperitifs as well as panettone which was the best one we ever tasted. We also had pistachio and almond cake which was to die for! Our suite room had the temple view from both living room and bedroom. There was a surprise porthole in the wall from the bath tub which gave you another view of the temple as well! Cinzia was the best hostess! She made us feel really special throughout our stay!

If you go to Sicily, it's pretty much a must see to go to Valley of the Temples. And this hotel is literally built on the grounds of the historic site. We bought tickets at the front desk, walked through the hotel parking lot, and through a gate that led us straight to the archeological site. Amazing.
The hotel itself was awesome. This is the best place to stay in Agrigento, bar none. We stayed for 3 nights, but you could easily do this in 2 nights, or even 1 if you really pushed it. There isn't much to see in the area beside the Temples. We went to the Turkish Steps one day, but they were not that interesting.
Anyway, back to the hotel...Our room was beautiful with a nice deck. Most rooms have amazing views of the Temples. The restaurants all have the same amazing views of the Temples, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The food was excellent here. Breakfast was great, lunch was great, dinner was great. The staff was excellent.
The massage at the spa was excellent and not expensive. The one quibble I would have is the spa is located kind of in a back alley behind the fitness center, so the ambiance could be improved. But that was trivial.
Overall, I absolutely loved this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Sicily, and especially Agrigento.

Villa Athena is perfectly placed for a visit to the archaeological park. The rooms are very good, and many have views of the temples, in particular Concordia. The property has a private access gate to the park. Make sure also to take a walk up the hill from the gate to the remains of the hardly visited Hellenic/Romano town with some impressive mosaics. The hotel catering is a bit quirky. I would prefer a buffet breakfast, especially when it is busy as the speed of service tends to suffer. Make sure to make a reservation for dinner if you want to eat in. We weren’t told it was necessary, and only late tables were available.

From arrival to departure we were treated very well indeed, everything from bag handling to a guided tour around the property. All the meals we enjoyed.
Giovanni over fed us for our garden barbecue dinner and was a great host.
The location, the garden, the views perfect for our stay.
An issue with an otherwise beautiful property.

Exceptional view, lovely property, the BEST possible way to experience the Valley of the Temples. Communication in advance to arrange tours and dining reservations was outstanding. Unfortunately, I can’t give the hotel a stellar review. At the price point of this property some basic expectations were simply not met.
Firstly, we dined at the hotel our second night (Sept 28) on the terrace with a view of the temples- fabulous atmosphere and meal. We noticed on the lower deck a large private baptism celebration. It did not disrupt our dinner, but when we went to our room to retire, children from the party were running. screaming and shrieking at 10:30pm all over the lawn and patios near our room (of note, there is a largely unprotected pool that could easily have been a hazard to children). Our major complaint was that the noise continued unabated till just after midnight, delaying sleep. This was NOT the peaceful experience we expected, and paid for, at this exclusive property. The comfort of staying guests should take precedence over “catered parties“.
If you book here, consider inquiring in advance if they are hosting outside events.
A minor secondary complaint is that bar staff do not circulate periodically by the pool to take orders, even when they deliver food, they do not check around to see if other guests may want to order. One has to go to the restaurant/bar to order. Again this is below standard for this level of property.
We expressed our primary concerns about the disruptive party the next morning on departure and asked for email address of manager which was not provided. We were given only an assurance he/she would be notified.
In this case, an honest review provides two services, one to alert other travelers to issues and another to appraise management of areas needing improvement. We hope this constructive criticism is helpful.

This was our 4th stop on our swing through Sicily and the photos do not do it justice. Arriving for a two night stay we were immediately struck by the view at lunch of Temple Concordia and then this was exceeded by the La Terrazza dinner view.
The next day our tour guide took us through the private gate to the Valley which too was special.
All at the hotel was 5 star-housekeeping and dining.
The entire staff was very efficient and helpful.
Highly recommend.

I rented a car and booked this hotel just to see the Valley Of Temples. This Hilton property was very good. They awaited for us outside, and prepared are boarding. We were welcomed with a drink. They wanted us to tour their property but we only had 1 day to stay so we said we needed to catch the VOT before sunset.
I booked a junior suite which was very spacious. I think the only downside was it was near the restaurant where a talented pianist played until 10 or 11. kind of noisy, but for 1 night I was ok with it.
We also ate at the restaurant that night. The food was good, but not great. Service was excellent. The view was sensational.
This is a 5 star hotel where staff knows what they are doing. So overall I was very content in my stay.

Really wonderful place to stay. We stumbled on it (so thanks to other reviewers here!). We detoured unexpectedly to Agrigento and opted to stay so we could see the Ciutate DI Templi. Wow on the resort which has a back entrance to the Templi and in the evening you can see them lit up.
They are actually in the Gardens which are nice too. I wish we had more time here as while outside the city of Agrigento, it is an amazing place to stay. The staff are very helpful and all so nice.
They have a spa (but we did not have time to use it); they have activities (must be booked 24 hours in advance), like the tour of their pistachio farm and a lunch based around pistachios. They did serve pistachio cake from their harvest which was delicious.
Their restaurant is wonderful - we ate dinner there 1 night and enjoyed the vegetable soup (I liked it so much I ate it again for lunch before we left). Their homemade sorbet was also outstanding. The rest of the meal was delicious too - fish, pasta).
If I come back to this area in Sicily, I would definitely stay here again. A totally unexpected surprise and a wonderful haven.

We stayed here for five nights and had a super time. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, the staff are so helpful, polite and very good at their jobs. There's a private entrance to the Archaeological site which is great, you're only just over an hour's drive from the mosaics at Villa Romans del Casale, 15 minutes from the Turkish steps and 5 minutes from the sea.
You'll not go hungry here, the breakfasts are sumptuous, a drink on the terrace will come with breads and oils and snacks, the dinners are lovely too.
We had a superior room which had loads of space, two wardrobes, a big bathroom, and was a really comfortable place to relax in after a busy day exploring Sicily.
The resort also organise various activities, I strongly recommend the cooking class which I really enjoyed, after-all we loved the food in Sicily.

Spoil yourself with a wonderful stay right in the historic park with views of the temples and a private gate to access the park
We stayed only one night but arrived early and were fortunate to get our room early so we could drop the bags and go explore the historic temples. The staff was wonderful and the hotel itself luxurious.
We had a great view of the temples from our private terrace (request this on booking, and book early). It let us have our coffee outside and even watch the lit up temples in the moonlight.
A nice surprise were all the birds too.
When staying, be sure to book the wonderful dinner also. Expensive but a real treat and experience you'll remember. Farm to table fresh ingredients and wonderful dishes.

The hotel accommodated all our requests and more! The room was spectacular with a direct view of the temples and so well appointed.
We leave today sadly and I must say the valley of the temples was spectacular but the true gem is the service we received from everyone with a special mention to Boris the front desk manager and Manuela at breakfast service. Boris assisted us in trying to get a rental car and moved us to a better room and Manuela took care of all our discriminating breakfast choices. She even answered many of my questions that not even the guides at the archaeological museum could answer. I watched her move in the dining room and she even takes guests bags and gives them a stool for it. We owned a hotel and acknowledge that it is the staff that is the heart and soul of a property. In this case Manuela and Boris shined bright. Thank you.

This hotel was the only disappointment through two fabulous weeks in Sicily. Maybe we came on a bad day since the hotel was filled with a noisy group and the breakfast room so crowded that we got rushed service and stale bread. (Bad bread in Sicily is hard to find!) The staff was not very helpful though they did change our room after the first did not have the promised view. The public rooms seemed dreary and our temple-view room was pleasant but so small that we couldn't open up two suitcases without moving things around. The location is the only plus--you get access to the archaeological site through a private entrance and avoid the crowds at the main gate. Come for the good location--but know that everything else is mediocre.

Villa Athena is THE place to stay if you are visiting the Valley of the Temples. It is right next door, with its own private entrance. The grounds of the hotel are charming, and the views of the ruins are amazing. To be fair, we splurged for the Villa Suite, which is the best room in the place. I felt like a queen staying there - floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ruins, a large living room, a huge terrace, and an extremely comfy bed. If you can swing it, this room is totally worth the extra coin. While you are there, don't miss the chance to dine at Carusus - we had the vegetable tasting menu, which was beyond amazing.
