We had a very enjoyable time at this lovely hotel. Conchetta at reception was amazing. Definitely a real ambassador for Marriot hotels. She welcomed us, organised a speedy check in, luggage delivered to our room very quickly. The hotel was originally the grand Post Office and has kept some of its grand designs. We are Bonvoy Titanium members and were upgraded to a delightful suite with the most fantastic view, balcony and huge patio windows. Fantastic location only minutes from a fascinating fish market, lots of historic churches, squares and restaurants. We never used the gym, indoor swimming pool or saunas but I had a tour of them and they looked amazing. A very enjoyable stay and a special thanks to Conchetta for all her advice about restaurants and trips.

The Ortea Palace Hotel is one of those places where you feel that a five star rating in Tripadvisor is not enough, it should get more. A really impressive building and hotel, the former post office. Just amazing design in the rooms, the Spa, the main lunch room and bar. Everybody is very nice, friendly and helpful. A perfect location. The hotel itself is not in the limited traffic zone, and there was a parking garage close by. Perfect to enjoy Ortigia, Siracusa and orher nice cities.

Visited this superb hotel for four days in early October. This elegant recently converted hitorically important building has been sympathetically converted from the classically styled central post office. The service is superb, the staff well trained and professional and possessed of warm friendly approach to guests. Our suite was beautifully appointed, on two levels split between sitting room and the mezzanine floor sleeping area. The sleeping area offers an imperial sized bed with a free standing bath and a separate private toilet facility. The mezzanine floor offers a half height glazed barrier which allows views to the lower level and views out of the double height windows which overlook the harbour and seafront. On the lower level, the seating area offered a comfortable sitting room with flat screen television, mini bar, a further shower room, excellent wardrobes and drawer space. The dining forum used for breakfast, lunch and evening dining is part of the open reception area and also offers an elegant bar. The food at breakfast is excellent and again staff were delightful, kind and helpful. In the warm evenings, there is a terrace bar which comfortable seating offering delightful views to the harbour. The hotel is well located with easy access by car or public transport and allows good walking access to the marvels of this ancient city. Also available are small three wheeled taxis taxis well suited to the narrow streets of Orteiga island. The hotel is ideal as a base for exploring Syracuse and South West Sicilly. Locally the streets of Ortiega offer many delights and sights to be seen. One particular area to be enjoyed is the promenade that takes you on foot from the port harbour area along the seas edge to the medieval fortress and back around the island of Ortiega. There are numerous excellent restaurants offering wonderful Sicillian dishes. The archaeological sites are an absolute must see, particularly Villa Romana Di Castilla and the Valley of the Temples at Argiento. Roads are very good and Sicillian drivers are good and very courteous. Although not personally experienced other travellers stated that railway and public bus transport was excellent for those not wishing to drive. Delighted to commend this excellent hotel and it's lovely staff to other travellers.

My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days at the Ortea Palace Hotel in Siracusa. The hotel is perfectly situated: just a five minute walk to the historic center of Ortigia. The rooms are beautifully furnished, spacious, and feature a wonderful shower. The breakfast is delicious and well worth the extra 25 euros. The staff is extremely professional and very warm. Front Desk staff (Maria, Concette, and Angelo) and the breakfast managers were particularly kind and very helpful.

Great, great hotel. We were lucky enough the get upgraded to a single level suite on the top floor, and it was absolutely gorgeous, with a beautiful view. Thankfully, we were traveling independently, so we did not have to hurry out of that comfy bed in the morning. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful; the French toast and made-to-order omelettes were truly fantastic. Couple of issues we had with our suite: there was no shower, only a tub, and it took forever to feel it. The closet was huge, but it had no shelf space. And finally, there were two round windows that faced the courtyard and the hallway across, with no covering. People walking in the hallway could see into the living area and the closet, which is where you walked from the bedroom to the bathroom. So basically, we lost the privacy everywhere but the bedroom and bathroom; this could be easily fixed with window coverings or frosted glass, like the window in the bathroom. Having said that, we would stay here again, and were very sad to leave our beautiful suite. I still miss it ...

Pros and cons of hotel The location is great, easy to get around and staff is friendly. The con is the air conditioning was broken or they turned it off for the 5 days we were there. And it was very warm so sleeping was impossible. Staff kept saying “ they were working on it” however, as we spoke to other guests, they were told it “ just happened”. They did nothing to accommodate the problem. Also, the marble hall is pretty but it’s very noisy hotel.

Not Quite A Great Stay at a Palace. It was actually a post office.

I have spent 2 weeks in Italy. The three 5 star hotels I stayed at Villa Fiorella Art Hotel I. Massa Lubrense(the best) paid Jr Suite, Villa Athena SLH paid Jr Suite (Hilton propety), Ortea Palace Marriott , deluxe room. Out of all them the Villa Fiorella was what I expected as a 5 star. Just beyond perfection. The other two hotels had slight inconsistencies. See my Slipper challenge to how I rate hotels in the past 10 years. I truly believe you can judge a 5 star hotel by its slippers. After reading the reviews of the Trip Advisors I have to agree with many of them about the problems. When I checked in I got an upgrade I don't know why. I am a Bonvoy member, but I wasn't expecting it. Out of all the decades of traveling in Europe I finally got an upgrade without asking. So that was nice. However, although my upgrade was nicer than my deluxe room it faced the street of the G7 agricultural festival, which was loud last 2 nights of my stay. The windows do a good job sound proofing, but if you ever lived in a house with tall ceilings sound can get in and have drone sound effect or monotonic. If you are a musician, you know what I mean. We hate it!! Staff tries hard to be 5 star. But not quite there as Ritz Carlton would say. They have been polite. I'll give them the benefit of doubt there is a communication barrier. However, as a customer who paid top seasonal rack rate at Marriott property I shouldn't have this problem. But it's ok, I'm a seasoned traveler. Hotel Report Card Location: 6/10. I appreciate the underground parking for my rented Audi A3, $40 a night, but I have to call 1 hour in advance to get my car. Think about that. Hotel is near lots of restaurants. Decor: 9/10 I like the marble, and Italian furniture, it works, nice modern hotel paintings, and costume exhibit in main room. Cleaniness: 7/10 Ammenties: 7/10 Diptyque shampoos and conditioning (good stuff), but no toothbrush or shaving kits. Marvis toothpaste would be a nice touch. Not big deal just ask for them Bed Comfort: 10/10 Best part of this hotel. Nice beds if you like stiff. Quietness: 2/10 Floor and hallway pretty quiet. But again, the outside noise or neighbor walls seem to transmit noise in these tall ceiling rooms. I can hear drum and bass music in my room, like a club at 11pm. Light sleepers will have a problem. Value: 4/10 One of best hotels in area, but I would plan ahead and do more due diligence. The spa was nice. At first i couldnt figure out why i had to make reservations to use Spa ahead of time. But we got the place to ourselves. That was great. Pool is fantastic nice tile bottomed, sauna was large, steam room still broken as previous TA said. The one issue I have with this 5 star hotel, they don't change your sheets everyday. I can't recall a 5 star hotel charging north of $500 not changing sheets. In USA they give Bonvoy members a choice of points for not changing sheets. I'm pointing this out because those hotels are Marriott 3 star and 4 star. What are we paying for? I really do appreciate the staff professional hospitality, but I think details are very important and communicating with other parts of staff is important in order to be a 5 star hotel. This hotel seems to be a hit or miss. Well fellow Trip Advisors that's all I have to review for now. I'll be writing about some really good restaurants in Ortigia soon. Best of luck

We have travelled all over the world and this is NOT a 5 star hotel. A room that overlooked the roof of an inside atrium and the size of a closet. A shower you could not lift your arms up. When we checked in we were told we could not change our room as they were 100% booked. We were supposed to stay four nights but after a truly uncomfortable first night we attempted to check out one day early. Even though we were told the hotel was fully booked for the week, they would not extend a refund for the fourth night. The staff were unpleasant to deal with. They forgot to make a dinner reservation for us when told it would be done. At breakfast there was no table available and we had to eat at a small table in the bar area. Told we should have made a reservation for breakfast, we did so for the next morning but there was no reservation when we arrived for breakfast. The only available eggs were what seemed to be a powdered variety and when asked for other types of eggs we were told it would cost extra. An unpleasant experience from start to finish.
