We had a wonderful birthday stay at the Knickerbocker! It’s a quiet, luxurious reprieve from the chaos of Times Square but keeps you right near all the action. It’s hard to believe Times Square is right outside your window, it’s so quiet and the blackout curtains are the best. The rooms have a modern, relaxing vibe. The standout here is the service. The concierge went above and beyond to help us in planning our trip prior to travel and every day we were there. It’s hard to find this level of service anymore. They truly made our stay special and we will be returning!

So we chose the Knickerbocker as it was our 25th anniversary, never been to NYC and it was quoted as 5star. We got an ok room deal but no one told us there was scaffolding all around the building that spoiled the view. Other wise it was just like any other 3-4 star we've stayed around the place. Location awesome but that was it. Value for money...I'm not sure.

You are warmly ushered inside from the chaotic streets of Times Square into an aroma therapy-scented refuge of peace and tranquility. The check-in process is smooth, and the very clean rooms are lovely, as are the bathrooms and linens. Great location and terrific room. Just be aware that you will be charged a $45 “hotel fee”….for nothing. Resort fees are just a ripoff. Our room was lovely. But, neither TVs were operational and we called down. After 2 hrs of watching the 2 nice men trying to figure it all out…we left. When we returned late evening the tv situation was resolved. But, we asked for 2 replacement water bottles, had to flag down a room attendant…and he said it will be done…but not! on our 2nd day…hmmm $45 “resort fees” annd norefresh of water bottles🥸 and didn’t happen. We wanted to have dinner at their highly touted Charlie Palmer Steakhouse on our 2nd night…and were greeted with over-served, horribly drunk folks attending a conference…yep…no food…”go up to the 4th floor”. Really. The bar on the top is OK…nothing more. And just and not so good. So, bottom line…location is terrific, rooms are very good.. don’t expect anything more.

There was a lack of day light in our room, the TV was wonky on the wall and there was a slight flush issue with the toilet but none of this was a huge issue and I'm sure had we mentioned to reception they would had fixed the toilet.

Historical building with modern interior
Got upgraded to a suite with street view and late check out. Absolutely love this place. Historical building with modern interior and a calm atmosphere in a chaotic part of NY. Don’t miss the original Martini, which is said to be invented here.
Our Go To Hotel for our Broadway trips
Our third year-in-row to stay at The Knickerbocker Hotel for our springtime theatre trip. Perfect location to walk to our Broadway shows. Classy, historical, with all the contemporary amenities. Excellent staff and facilities. See you next year!

The cafe in the foyer is handy for morning coffee enough away from time square I think west 42nd but near the action subway on the corner and close to Bryant park just a great mid town location if I went back to nyc I wouldn’t stay anywhere else only negative scaffolding at the front of the building so no holiday snaps of the outside

We had a lovely stay at The Knickerbocker - the room was spacious and comfortable (though the pillows fell a bit flat) and the staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. Considering its location off Times Square, our room was fairly quiet. Our room temperature did tend to fluctuate a bit even though we had our thermostat at a consistent temperature and there were a couple of small bloodstains on one of the pillowcases. Breakfast service at Charlie Parker’s was also quite good.
As others have mentioned, at busy times the elevators can be slow and crowded (once, we had to wait for a third elevator car before there was enough room for the two of us). A staff member, commiserating with us, confided part of the reason for this was that the employee elevator had been out of commission for an extended period (implying that it was a budget issue) forcing staff (including cleaners and bellman) to take the guest elevators.
Potential guests should be aware of the nightly $50+ (with taxes) “Residence Fee” on top of the room charges. This has become a common practice for many hotels in NYC and other cities but it would be more honest to just charge a higher room rate. The Knickerbocker tries, but fails, to ease the fee’s blow by stating that it covers internet access, two bottles of water, and free shoe shines, among other minor benefits, but that just makes it more annoying.
Prior to our stay, I had some questions for the General Manager but found that his email address wasn’t recognized by the hotel’s mail server causing my email to bounce back. Curiously, when I reached out to the general info email, the reservations desk sent me the name and email address of the previous GM.

What a great place to stay . Location was excellent , rooms huge and staff amazing . Special thanks to Norsa our housekeeper who was exceptional , and Shawn at the bar gave us great advise on what to do .
Thoroughly recommend . It’s close to subways and everything a tourist in NYC wants
Absolutely excellent service. Rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was excellent every day. Great location. Friendly staff. Found my new favourite NYC hotel. Super close to all the action yet an oasis of calm. Rooftop bar is a highlight. Comfy beds with ample pillows and bedding.

We’ve just returned from 4 nights at the Knickerbocker Hotel. First impressions are it’s disappointing the entire hotel is covered with scaffolding which is a real shame as the building is beautiful.
The room sizes are excellent and very spacious which we really enjoyed. They cleaned our room several times a day to a great standard and provided fresh towels.
We were told you receive two fresh bottled waters daily, this didn’t happen and when it did our glasses disappeared which was disappointing.
The staff were friendly in the main and accommodating but we had a faulty blind in our room and even after 12 hours of reporting this wasn’t fixed until I called again.
This is meant to be a five star hotel but I struggle to see how. For example when we checked out we weren’t even asked if we had enjoyed our stay! No queue behind us, just not bothered or interested it seemed which is disappointing. For a five star hotel finer details matter and we never felt we got that great a customer experience. I’ll definitely be looking elsewhere for our next visit which we’re planning already. NYC is an incredible place!

We had an excellent stay at The Knickerbocker for my partner's 50th, with a hearty welcome from the first moment, and clear and helpful guidance with how everything worked. We did have an issue with neighbouring noise on the second day, which was quickly dealt with and we received an upgraded room. At the time, it seemed an inconvenience to have to pack and move, rather than have the noise dealt with, but the transition was smooth and without fuss. The staff could not have been more helpful.
We enjoyed a delicious meal in Charlie Palmer Steak IV on our first night, which was an extravagant but delicious experience and we also enjoyed the Roof bar each evening for a nightcap. Delicious cocktails and excellent service.
All in all, a very comfortable stay, and it all felt like a real treat!
