Absolutely beautiful and extensive property. Well maintained and spotless. Check in/check out were quick and painless. We did get the preferred booking. Well worth the money in my opinion. Different alcohols, more pools and convenience were the biggest pluses for us. Our butler (Super D who was phenomenal) took care of our reservations (we were a group of 6 couples) which assured we could eat together. Bars and pools were everywhere. Room was cleaned and restocked each day and special requests for more water/rum/candy bars were accommodated. Bar staff, wait staff and everyone around the resort were all very friendly and helpful. The beach was routinely cleaned and the surf was nice. A few bits of seaweed here and there but not a big deal. Beach service was also regular and friendly. Food was really good with generous portions. We ate Italian and seafood at the neighboring Dreams. Both were excellent. Bluewater Grill serves a choice ribeye and the hibachi table at Himitsu was a good time with good food as well. Breakfast at Olio and at the buffet were also great.
My only two complaints are super picky. One, not enough insulation in the ceilings. I could hear every footfall above us at night. Again, nothing that earplugs didn’t solve. The other is my general aversion to paying extra (preferred club) to access the entire resort. The lounge was really the only place you needed your keycard to access. Otherwise the checks whether we were preferred were few and far between.
Our entire group agreed that we would go back.

Our trip was fantastic. The accommodations were amazing. The service was above expectations. Denise in the coffee shop was an amazing and energetic person who always started our day off right. Our room was a memorable experience with a lazy river right outside our balcony to jump into and just relax in. The excursions were were also fantastic. We did the Polaris 4x4 experience which was great and visited Monkey Land which was so much fun. The food and entertainment was also just so amazing and fun. The staff here really knows how to make your visit the best it can be.

Stayed March 4-11, 2025 - we are a couple in our senior years and this was our second stay this year and 8th since 2018.
Booked Preferred Club Tropical; UVC upgraded to Room 1470, Preferred Club Oceanfront with amazing views. The UVC team at this resort is fabulous and treat us like part of the family. It was so gratifying both on arrival and departure to have so many greeting us by name and asking when we are returning.
Preferred experience
- checkin and checkout in the lounge off the lobby where snacks and premium alcohols are available
- Olio for breakfast à la carte: fantastic; managers Humberto, Julio & Juan have an amazing team that works like a well-oiled machine; from the moment you are greeted by Charina the hostess she will know your room number the balance of your stay; serving staff remember us from past stays & we are treated like family by each and every one.
Special shoutouts to Rafael, Emilia, Gabriella, Yoenny, Elkin, Clara & “excelente súper fantástico” Dany! I love the Norwegian eggs while my husband enjoys his Eggs Benedict, or pancakes, or omelette … and you cannot beat the Santo Domingo caffe con Baileys. We also enjoyed lunch there one day - the burger was delicious.
- Quiet Preferred Pool behind Olio: we spend our days here being hydrated by Marguerita and her compañero Randar, who introduced me to a new drink - Chocolate Banana.
-there is another larger Preferred Club Lounge and pool in front of Building 3; this stay we didn’t venture over there
Butlers: ours has been Eddy 7 out of 8 stays & he’s worth his weight in gold - checks in with his guests all around the resort daily while also communicating efficiently by WhatsApp as necessary. Eddy works hard for his guests without it feeling like he’s intruding or being overbearing. Any request is met with “es un placer para mi” & is resolved in a timely manner. He ensured that all our pre check-in needs were accommodated and when we attempt to do anything ourselves his response has been “I can do that - you’re on vacation”.
La Riviera Buffet: we had breakfast here twice and enjoyed the wide range of options available. Our meals were made all the more enjoyable by the attentions of Poche & Reyni who are an amazing team who go out of their way to make guest experience “increíble”.
We also enjoyed lunch here twice (great sushi & pizza) and once at Olio where the burger was amazing—other days we grabbed salad, fries and chicken from the Barefoot Grill on the beach.
A la carte Dinners we enjoyed most were:
Himitsu - ordered from the menu rather than the Tempenyaki table on the evening we arrived. Manager Humberto greeted us warmly and checked in at the table to make sure all was good. Katherine our server kept my husband’s wine glass topped up, and Manager Luis also stopped by to welcome us back. Food was so good we had no room for dessert.
Bordeaux - French Onion soup, salmon teriyaki & crème brûlée for dessert
We also had great meals at El Patio - thank you to Reyni for taking such amazing care of us that evening - we enjoyed the nachos and quesadilla; y como postre - tres leches pastel!
Bluewater, & on the Dreams side, Seaside grill.
The highlight of the week this time for us was booking the Birthday Package through UVC and we had our final dinner Monday @Bordeaux
Between our Butler Eddy, our UVC rep & the fantastic restaurant team, I can’t imagine a better evening of celebration.
While both wine rooms were already reserved, we felt more than spoiled by meeting Chef Leby Castillo who catered a special Surf & Turf for me & Red Snapper for my spouse. Carolina, Adrian & “Camareo Extraordinare” Poche went above & beyond any expectations we may have had! 💜🎂💜
While it was nice to be sleeping in our own bed again last night, I’m already looking forward to January 2026 - hasta la próxima a todos.

The staff is the best. Work really hard to accommodate the guest and make their stay memorable. The ladies who run the Omelette Stations kept the lines moving. The staff must take happy pills, because they demonstrate that they are clearly happy to be at work.

Beautiful resort and excellent service!
Beautiful resort! Beautiful views and great service. Robert Garcia, the bartender at the preferred area indoor bar was incredible! He provided excellent service and even better drinks. We visited with Robert every night of our stay and we had a blast. Would definitely recommend.

We spent 10 days at Secrets in March. It's a very good resort. The previous year we had been at Excellence Punta Cana (and 2 other ones in the previous years) so we held Secrets up to the same standard as Excellence. Not quite as good, but a very close second. The restaurants were good ( French and Asian were the best) They have a "buzzer" system that alerts you when your table is ready that works very well. Buffett is standard fare, lots of choices and good service. Beach service is very good. You do have to play the get up early to get a lounger game (signs indicate there is no reserving, but that is definitely not enforced in any way) We did find it disappointing not to have an outside area to have cocktails prior to dinner or show (you are inside under a roof... feels very confining) Housekeeping is great. They have a great app that you can use to have missing items/ mini-frig things replaced by just texting.
They had a really great St. Patrick's Day celebration that was over the top... great job by the entertainment crew!! The grounds are amazing, spotless!! The only exception to the overall positive attitudes we got from staff, unfortunately was from the front desk staff, both on check in and check out. General indifference on both occasions, on check in they handed us a map and said "come back at 3" that was it... very unwelcoming. On checkout, again, no questions about our stay, just fill this out, bye :( We'll be looking at Excellence for next year...

I have visited Punta Cana many times over the past 15 years and I am never disappointed. We booked into the Secrets Royal Beach for two weeks and have a lovely time. I always give an honest account of my experience from start to finish.
Hotel - The Hotel is opulent, plenty of seating, extremely clean, and the staff cant do enough for you. They are so welcoming and polite, and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent customer service.
Hotel Room - Spacious, clean, modern. Plenty of wardrobe space. We had 2 beds in our room (one each - perfect), the Air Con was really good, nice balcony area. Linens and bath towels lovely and fluffy.
24 hour Room Service - We utilised this 4 times over a period of 2 weeks for breakfast - the service was very efficient, the bell boys were v polite and nothing too much trouble
House Keeping - the room was serviced every day - perfect. Lots of fresh towels laid out, fridge topped up, all showering products replenished when used up.
Drinks - This was variable. The wine was very good, as was the beer. If you ask for a cocktail, and you prefer a certain brand, be sure to ask for your brand. Around the pool the drinks didnt seem as strong as in the evening (this wasnt a problem for us, as we like to take it easy thru the day) In the evening the drinks were topped up constantly and strong - so be sure to keep track of what you drink!! The bar tender in the reception area made some great cocktails, and his drinks were served in style! The Sammy Jackson cocktail was a hit !
The drinks service around the pool was very good. We stayed around the quieter pool and a lovely lady called Yo-Yo worked v hard and kept everybody topped up with drinks, as did the butler service which we observed for customers using the bali beds.
The main buffet restaurant - Excellent food - there was something for everyone. I honestly enjoyed every meal I had, whether that was lunch or during the evening. The service was amazing - fresh water, and drinks regularly topped up, the staff really make this Hotel.
We tried all the A La Carte restaurants - we tended to leave our room around 8pm to dine. We never waited more than 15 mins to be seated in the restaurants - service perfect, air conditioned rooms. The steak house was amazing , as was the French.. these were my favourites. the mexican and asian were also v tasty. I would highly recommend you try. The steaks and meat in general were v high quality, v large portions, so go easy, as you can easily put weight on in two weeks!! The italian restaurant near the beach wasnt good - we had a poor experience. The service was fine, but the food was inedible. We left our food and dined in a different restaurant. It wasnt a problem.
Pool area - lovely and clean, there is a large pool with swim up bar with resident DJ, beyond that is the beach. This was a little bit noisy for us, so we bathed around the quieter pool. Sun loungers were hit and miss, some padded, some not. Not really a problem. There wasnt enough brollys, but we got up early to secure a padded lounger and a brolly so wasnt a problem. I think all the basic loungers could possibly be replaced with padded loungers around the pool and on the beach to reflect the 5 star rating (I hat been to other hotels of the same rate and loungers were more luxurious) This is really the only critical thing I can think off.
Pools are all large, v clean, and a good temp. Lots of activities to get involved in through the day if you want to, if you want to be quiet and read a book then also good for this.
Beach - beautiful clean beach - sun loungers were all taken by 6am - so in a 2 week holiday I only managed to secure a lounger at the back one morning... bit of a shame this. The sea is lovely and warm, and most morning we went for a walk up and down the beach - so not a problem for us.
Excursions - we did the monkey trip in the mountains - it was fantastic, I would highly recommend, we took some lovely photos. We went in the morning 7am pick up and we were returned to the hotel for 2pm. Great day out.
Entertainment - something for everyone.. we watched the Queen Tribute Act - very good.
Beach Party - this was really good fun - great music played - everybody enjoyed themselves.
The TUI Hotel Rep - Raol - what a lovely honest guy - no hard sell, knowledgeable. Perfect.
Overall - the Service is exceptional - nothing too much trouble. This is a 5 star hotel and I feel it deserves 5 stars.
The only thing that I found slightly irritating was having to get up early (before 7am to secure a good sun lounger with a brolly) that said, on the way back from doing this I nipped to the Coffee shop and got a couple of coffees and a cake !! great little coffee shop.
Guests - there was a good mixture of folk and we met some very interesting, friendly people.
Tipping - we left tips each morning for housekeeping, and tipped in the a la carte restaurants, and around the pool - this is standard.
From start to finish we had a relaxing 2 week holiday and I would return in the future.

Our butler, Super D(Dinay) was the best we have ever had. Daily check ins, helpful, friendly, informative, and great personality. She always made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely request her on our next visit. We enjoyed The Interlude bar at Dreams for our pre dinner martini. Gerson makes the best Vodka martinis. A true professional. We rented a Bali bed for our stay. Well worth the money instead of getting up at 6am for us older folks. Yo-yo, Yoleny provided us with great poolside bar service. Truly a professional. Super friendly and accommodating. If she was working that day, you knew you would get the best service. Can’t wait to return for our 5th visit.

Just got back from Secrets.
I’ve been to a ton of different All Inclusive’s all over the Caribbean over the years and here is my honest review.
The resort and property and clean and nicely laid out.
The staff for the most part were very good,
Kudos to both Alexander (Bartender at the Rendezvous Lounge) and Jose (Swim up pool bartender)
Overall the food was good and probably the best nightly entertainment I’ve seen at any resort.
The rooms were nice, but was surprised the only liquer in the room was a few beers in the fridge.
I heard and read some people say the Preferred rooms were worth extra cost and few who said they would never pay the extra amount again.
The drinks were very hit and miss.
Easily the worst Pina Coladas I’ve ever had and others there agreed.
The restaurants and Buffet were all good.
By far the biggest turn off unfortunately happened right at check in.
After we checked in the guy (I’ll leave his name out) was WAY to aggressive trying to sell the $200 massage we would get for free.
I obviously asked him if there was any catches and he said no.
He keep blabbing away and finally I asked him again and he finally said had to go to a presentation.
I told him was not interested in that but he kept talking.
Then he saw me later in the lobby and came after me trying to do it again.
I’ve Never seen anything this bad and it was a huge turn off to say the least and wasn’t expecting that especially from what’s considered a nicer resort.
Nothing more of a turn off than someone pressuring you to do or buy something like the way he did.
A terrible way to start our vacation to say the least!
Yes I’ve had other places approach about it, but nothing quite like this bad.
Secrets if your reading this, you need to train your employees way better to not turn people off being so aggressive.
Won’t go back just for that reason alone!
I’m in sales and would never treat anyone the way he did!
A nice resort but I’ve been to RIU’s, Barcelo’s, Sandals and many other All Inclusive’s that were just as good if not better for less price.

Surprised my husband with a birthday trip to Punta Cana. We had a great stay at Secrets. Reuben made the best drinks at the beach bar and kept checking on us the entire time. The nightly entertainment was great and the spa treatment was heavenly. We enjoyed our time there!

Very disappointed, let me start by saying the resort is really beautiful as most secrets resorts are.this resort does not compare to any secrets resort that we visited in Cancun. Akumal, maroma , playa Blanca , playa mujeres , dreams High pressure sales from the moment you check in. They have people lined up if you say no to one another one shows up , up to 5 people. Sad to see. They fallow you to the pool while you try to relax. Service is average at best. We would tip everyone and it still wasn’t enough. If you’re not preferred there is no food during the day. Small place behind restaurants at the pool. Chips , hot dogs ,hamburgers, no pool entertainment,no pool games , no bbq at the pool like in Mexico , watered down drinks , this secrets does not match any other secrets we’ve ever been to

My husband and I recently returned from Secrets Royal Beach after a 7-day stay in a preferred room with its own plunge pool. We have been UVC/World of Hyatt members for almost 10 years and this was our fifth stay at this resort. The last time we were here in 2023, we noticed that the level of service wasn’t as high as previous stays, but we gave it another chance because we really enjoyed our plunge pool room last time.
When we arrived at the hotel, the employee who offered us a cold towel didn’t seem especially welcoming or enthusiastic. It just wasn’t the “welcome home” we’d come to expect as members, having travelled to other Secrets and Zoetry resorts.
Preferred room: We were checked in quickly by Jokeyma in the Preferred Lounge, but were told our room wasn’t ready which was disappointing but not the worst thing. She asked us who our butler was before and we told her it was Alfredo (THE BEST butler/employee!), so we were fortunate to have him assigned to us again. He escorted us over the preferred lounge near the beach to relax and have some drinks/snacks while we waited for our room. Alfredo led us to our room about 1 hour later, but he immediately told us that he didn’t like the room for us (#3160 in the preferred section). We arrived at our room and found that Alfredo was exactly right. (It was also missing Happy Birthday/Happy Anniversary banners, which we’d mentioned when we booked in Dec. 2024 and when we checked in). We previously stayed in room #3172 in 2023 and loved it, which is why we requested it again when we booked our stay. It was spacious, had lots of sun exposure, and was equipped with the perfect plunge pool. When we entered room #3160, the room seemed smaller, had an oddly-shaped (triangular) plunge pool that must’ve been half the size of the other pool, was next to the ice machine, and had a loading area or something nearby. As members, we expected a much better room. Alfredo immediately got started on finding us a better room, explaining that he would try to move us that evening or the next day. Not long after, Alfredo called to say that he'd managed to find us a better room, so we gathered our things and moved to room #3176. What a difference! This room was just like the one we’d enjoyed before. We’re SO grateful to Alfredo for getting us moved to a room that was actually worth the extra money we paid for the room upgrade.
Service: Unfortunately, overall service was very disappointing. Service in the restaurants was hit or miss. La Riviera, the buffet restaurant, provided consistent service which is more than we can say for the a la carte restaurants. Olio is the restaurant for breakfast and lunch for preferred guests. We ate there several times, but as BIPOC folks, we definitely received a lesser level of service than the non-BIPOC guests in general. Charina (the Olio hostess) was always friendly to all, but many servers seemed to go above and beyond for non-BIPOC guests and it was very obvious to us. Our worst restaurant experience was at Bordeaux (the French restaurant). We arrived when it was opening for dinner so there were many, many tables available; however, we were seated near the bathroom and the serving station where the servers talked noisily. Our server came over and took our drink order and as we sat waiting, we noticed that all of the other tables were being served glasses of champagne. Then we were served one kind of bread which was stale. When we looked around again, we saw that other people were being offered hot towels to clean their hands before they were served their bread. We didn't receive any champagne, hot towels or real courtesy from our server. She looked like she was just going through the motions. The food itself was okay, but the poor service turned this into a bad experience for us. When we were offered dessert, we said we were full and left as quickly as we could, not wanting to spend a moment longer in an unwelcoming environment. We dined at the Bluewater Grill as well, where I ordered salmon and was told they only had tuna, one of my side dishes never showed up, and the fish was salty and overcooked. The food and service at El Patio were okay. Dinner at Olio one night wasn’t great either (the gnocchi was a fail, service was so-so).
Housekeeping: I don’t want to criticize housekeepers too much since they’re typically overworked and underpaid and there are a lot of rooms to clean. However, there were a couple of days when our room wasn’t cleaned. One day, we requested cleaning through the app which was then completed.
Beach: The preferred beach area will never contain enough palapas! We hate hanging around the swimming pools, so can’t speak to those. We enjoy spending our time at the beach and enjoying the ocean. Unfortunately, other guests’ behaviour with claiming lounge chairs super early also forced us to compete by going to the beach around 7 am and putting down our towels to secure a palapa. There are warnings that if this is done before 8 am, security will remove towels, but we didn’t see this happen once. Some guests claimed their chairs and disappeared for hours on end which was super annoying and discourteous – we don’t even know if they were actually “preferred” guests since we didn’t see anyone checking.
All in all, we had a great room (which was our sanctuary), thanks to Alfredo. We can't say enough good things about Alfredo, our butler for the week. He’s extremely kind, hard-working, attentive (checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything) and communicative. We’re glad we were able to have him as our butler not once but twice! He deserves a promotion for providing the type of service that should be provided throughout the resort. Muchas gracias, Alfredo!
Verdict: While we loved our room, the beach, and especially Alfredo’s excellent service, the overall decline in resort service—particularly for long-time members—means we’re unlikely to return to Secrets Royal Beach in the near future.

We had a fantastic stay at secrets Punta Cana and must say a big thank you to Margarita Carlos and Miguel in the Manatees bar. Margarita made sure we were never without a drink even when we were in the pool. We upgraded to the preferred club but must say that the hotel does not police this enough so other guests were using the “preferred pools and bars” without being questioned so if you have the courage to chance it you can get the facilities for free. We found the restaurants really good but the buffet food was cold. We could use the dreams hotel next door and found their buffet much better

Well this was our fifth time at this resort
Amazing food at all of the restaurants we always think about where we would dine our first night there.
This property is beautiful and very well maintained lush gardens, pools are fabulous quiet one and more upbeat ones with the entertainment team...Jack Frost leads and amazing team and this year we loved that they danced and interacted with the audience at the awesome nightly shows.
The staff go way above and beyond at this property..Mayker at Dreams is so dedicated to his guests...Our favorite bartender is Alexander in the Rendezvous Bar in Secrets lobby best Mojitos and Espresso martinis and Rafael at Olio restaurant we loved having our morning chats and laughs with him.
Our singing hostess at olio and the Chef at the Sexy Burger barefoot grill were also great to see every year.
Housekeeping is well maintained and we love the comfort and appreciation for us at this resort with our welcome home sign on our door
We will see you in November...
Oh also love the beach and the huts and spend most of our time swimming in the ocean which is so well maintained and free of seaweed and the beach drinks too!!!
Thanks again Love Ron and Liz Chambers from Punta Canada

Our initial impression of the stark room was that it could have been at the Hampton Inn. The TV was in French, then it didn’t work at all, the room was exceptionally cold, the thermostat was indecipherable, and the clock was off by 4 hours with no way to reset. It took almost 14 hours before maintenance came.
We can hear people above and next door plus outside foot traffic.
Private pool is not private at all, there is no privacy from the adjoining units.
Staff were exceptional as was liquor service. Food was plentiful. Steak restaurant better than the rest.

This is a beautiful property, nicely renovated since last time we were here. If you have mobility issues, this is not a great place for you. Also, the hawkers on the beach were non-stop. Under our palapas well back from the shore in the Preferred Club Beach, every 5 minutes a vendor will pester you. They should have better security and encourage the vendors to stick to the shore. It would not be a safe place to leave a bag unattended since so many non-guests roam freely through the beach chair area. I came here to relax, not be solicited non-stop. I know other reviews said the same thing, so it's clear the resort does not plan to act on negative reviews.

We spent 9 days in April and had a wonderful time. we have been to Secrets Royal Beach many times and it just never disappoints. What makes this place nice to go back to are the people. Always smiling and ready to serve or help.
First of it was nice meeting Tatiana B.M.. Thank you for your hospitality and your energy is contagious.
Our Butler Warnes is like Superman. Always there to see if we need anything and just makes our stay even more joyable. He has been our butler for many years and the level of service just keeps getting better and better. Exceeds our expectations.
Other notables we crossed during our stay.
Olio-Charina, Yiaini, Humberto, Ariel
Himitsu- Rafael, Julio A., Yoanny
Preferred Bar- RobertG., Omar, Yamilquis
Preferred pool and Beach- Daniela,Rosa,Margarita andon the beach Deylin
These are just a few but I can assure you that service from everyone is at its highest level. So kudos to everyone.
Specialty restaurants are all good where food is tasty with a variety offered in each.
Buffet is one of the best I have seen with something for everyone.
Entertainment team works hard all day to keep everyone entertained.
Grounds and beach are kept clean. Always someone working to keep the hotel nice.
With a few upgrades over the years the hotel just looks superb.
Room was spacious and clean especially with the help of our maid Ariele Payano. Beds are very comfortable. We did order breakfast through room service and everything we ordered was there and on time.
We were Preferred and enjoyed the perks such as Olio for breakfast and lunch. We also liked the 2 pools offered to us and beach areas and the lounges. One constructive suggestion I would say is to identify Preferred guests as there is not always someone checking.
Thank you for another great vacation full of memories. Will definitely be back.

We just returned from a 10 day trip to secrets royal beach Punta Cana.
The hotel is fantastic, beautiful spaces and great access to dreams side as well which meant we had so many options for food and drink!
We upgraded on-site to the preferred club and it was worth every penny, the lazy river cabanas were perfect for us to relax and read a book - our favourite beach holiday activity!
We want to give a MASSIVE shout out to Rosanna at drifters bar on the preferred lazy river she was so upbeat and a lovely smiley face everyday and made sure our drinks were never empty even creating great surprises like a pina colada pineapple shaped like a cat! She went the extra mile and we are so grateful.
I also wanted to thank our butler Eddy who was so lovely and kind he made my birthday and our anniversary so special and even had a birthday cake delivered to my room! The staff here are the jewel in a crown!
The entertainment team have a great program with lots of choice - I loved the extra crafty activities on the preferred side including macrame and purse making 😍
Olio, Himitsu and seaside grill (dreams) were highlights for us the food was incredible with lots of choice.
Another thing not to miss is the boardwalk journey over to dreams they have a stunning nature area with turtles and other wildlife which was fun to see .
Thank you for helping us celebrate in such a special way.

Beautiful resort and beautiful beach. My husband and I were impressed with the cleanliness and beauty of the hotel. The ocean is clean and turquoise blue (stunning!). However, there were a few downers to our trip. (1) They swear the bottled water is completely safe, however, the first night I chugged a bottle of water and 30 min later was very ill. I’m not sure if there is a mineral us Americans are not used to they use when purifying the water, or if the pipes they use to purify the water still contain remnants of the tap water. Anyways my husband and I’s stomach was weird all week and a lot of other people were saying the same thing. (2) The solicitors on the beach are lowkey out of control. They come up to you while you are sitting under your hut and then sit down next to you uninvited and start trying to sell you stuff even when you say “no thank you”. It’s super awkward and they can smell anyone that’s too polite to interrupt them from a mile away. And there’s a lot of them- it kinda lessened the relaxing aspect of the beach. (3) none of the restaurants are open until dinner so you have to either order room service or eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. I’m not a picky eater at all and I could only find 2-3 things that I liked from the buffet. The food is better in Mexico. (4) we went on a reef explorer excursion to snorkel and it was beautifulllll! However, they don’t offer you lunch or drinks on the excursion and for the price, that seemed kind of like a rip off. I thought Mexico had a better excursion experience. (5) we had some really rude experiences with some of the staff. I get it, I’m sure they have a stereotype about Americans and I’m positive so many people treat them poorly there. I tried to be extra polite to every staff member because of that, but I still had moments that I felt they were really unkind to my husband and I without reason. (6) this one is a big one. We booked our trip with Apple vacations and Amstar was the one that did all of our transportation from airport to resort and vice versa. When it came time to go from the resort to the airport to fly back home, the Amstar bus was 20 min late picking us up (it’s about a 40 min drive to airport so those 20 min late were making us nervous). They loaded all of us going back home onto the bus and at first the bus started driving in the direction of the airport. But then, without apparent reason, the bus turned around and started driving for 30 minutes in the opposite direction in some sketchy neighborhood. Everyone on the bus was starting to panic because we thought something sketchy was going on. The bus driver wouldn’t speak to us and tell us what was happening so we all thought the worst. Eventually he turned back around and took us to the airport (I don’t know what happened), but we only had 45 minutes until our flight. Everyone was really worried we were going to miss our flight.

We had an excellent time at Secrets Royal Beach. The resort was beautiful, the food was excellent, especially for an all-inclusive, and the service was top-notch.
The grounds are well maintained and it was a joy to walk around whether it was day or night. It seems liked you had an excuse to take a photo everywhere.
The food was great. We really enjoyed the buffet for breakfast due to countless options. for lunch our favorite was Olio for preferred guests. For dinner our favorite two resort restaurants were Bordeaux and Himitsu. The beachside dinner we opted for with the Romance menu was fantastic. It was the perfect setting for our engagement.
I can’t say enough about the service we received while at Secrets Royal Beach. Everyone made us feel like we were at home from the moment we arrived to our last moments. We were paired with our butler Brian and he indeed was Super Brian. He showed delivered in every way possible. I cannot recommend his services enough. There are so many others at this resort I wish I could mention but two in particular were Maluma and Shaggy from the entertainment team. They always were incredibly welcoming and enjoyable to be around whenever we ran into them.

We picked this hotel as have stayed at several Secrets and always found them to be very good. However, sorry to say since Hyatt have taken over they have lost their sparkle. We booked a Preferred Club Swim Up Room, but found this did not live up to their photographs. It was actually a room adjacent to the lazy river with two lounge chairs on concrete blocks with no where to move and then steps into the river. Unfortunately this was claustrophobic with bushes right next to you. Not what we were expecting. So we had to get up early to get a sunbed at the quiet pool, not what we were expecting to be doing. The actual room had plenty of wardrobe and draw space, the bed very comfortable and the aircon good. We asked for morning maid service and this was sporadic sometimes 9.30am next day 4pm! Turndown happened when they felt like it. They were also not very good at replacing toiletries, in fact we had to ask several times for extra. However, after telling our concierge about our room, he did come back to us and for the last 5 days we were moved to a private pool room which we found much better.
Being Preferred we ate at the Olio a couple of times for breakfast but found the general buffet was better and the service very good. The a la carte restaurants varied Bordeaux was good one time and then next not so, we found the food was not always hot, even though coming straight from the kitchen. El Patio was mediocre. The Chinese we visited a couple of times and found the service and food good. The Bluewater steak house was also good. It was a good idea for the buffet to be open in the evenings as this added an extra restaurant in case the others were busy.
We spent most evenings having a drink at the Rendevous Bar where Alexander was a great mixologist and kept the drinks flowing. The gardens are as always kept immaculate.
The beach was very wide and suffered with the usual seaweed, and you had to dodge the waiting sellers so not to be hassled.
All in all our whole impression was that the resort was a little tired, and not unfortunately up to the Secrets brand we were used to. We will probably look to other brands in the future.

Thanks for making our two weeks so memorable. Big shout out to the all the great entertainment team (Junior, J,Frost, Cristopher) and waiters (Gabrielle & Jose did the best cocktails!) who work really hard. Thanks to Reyes in reception for ensuring we had two rooms close to each other too, that was lovely. Beautiful hotel and grounds. We certainly would recommend this hotel. Gluten free food was not an issue in any of the restaurants which was a relief too for my hubby with coeliacs.

The buffet had a large selection including salads fruit dessert. At every meal, the hot foods were only warm at best or mostly cold except for soup. At breakfast there was a chef cooking omelets so we chose that option each day with toast but for safetys sake didnt pick up any hashbrowns sausage beans etc as-all not a safe temperature. Fortunately the main evening meals we could go to one of the many restaurants. Unfortunately at breakfast and lunch the restaurants were closed except to preferred customers only who paid a lot extra so non preferred guests the buffet was the only breakfast option, except room service but that is delivered from breakfast buffet food so not really an option. We spoke to the buffet manager at the beginning of the week and showed him our cold dinner. He apologized and said they would look into and another staff member mid week but nothing changed. The restaurants in the evenings were all exceptionally good. When we got back we reported it to the resort and they replied that an investigation had taken place and everything was according to required standards and always subject to statutory inspections. I know when I get cold or warm food on my plate. It sits there from 7.00 am till 10.30 which is fine if it's kept to temperature. We we t over to dreams next door but their buffet was much smaller than secrets.
The resort was very clean staff were helpful. The beach and pools were nice. The beach was cleaned by a sargassum machine daily which made it cleaner. The dreams side the seaweed machine didn't go over there so when you walked along the beach you could see a big difference that the dreams side was full of seaweed and it's for families with children so you would think they would look after that.
We enjoyed our vacation determined to make the best of it but would like people to know an important health issue that we felt we should share.

When we booked this room, we expected a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. Unfortunately, our experience was far from that.
To begin, we had to wait in our room for over 30 mins for our bags to arrive, so that was frustrating since all of our stuff was in them. The minibar was empty besides two half empty Cokes. So we were stuck in the room waiting without water or any of our belongings, just wanting to leave and go enjoy ourselves. We didn’t even have basic amenities like hand soap in the room until we returned to our room at 10 PM.
Even more concerning, housekeeping left our room door open and unlocked after a cleaning the next day. Housekeeping was down five or so doors so was left open for at least an hour or two. That is a serious security lapse. How does something like that even happen? Is the staff not trained to ensure the door is properly closed after cleaning? The fact that this wasn’t acknowledged or addressed by the team after a complaint is incredibly disappointing and shows a lack of regard for guest safety and property.
Our phone hardly worked, it was constant static and impossible to hear anything which was very frustrating. The room service took hours and hours to arrive and was undercooked or cold and did not taste good at all, we spoked with other guests who had the same issues.
Our clothes remained wrinkled for half our stay because the steamer was broken from the start—and the replacement wasn't provided until the next day, was also broken. There was an ironing board but no iron. So that sucked to have wrinkled clothing at nice restaurants.
Midway through our stay, all of our key cards inexplicably stopped working, forcing us to wait around just to re-enter our room and use the restroom. They accused us of getting the card wet but that was not the case, when we went in the room we grabbed our other keys that were in the room to prove those didn't work either. These are fundamental aspects of hospitality, and it's alarming how many basic standards were missed.
We found ourselves having to contact staff multiple times a day just to get basic issues resolved. For the price we paid, this level of service is unacceptable. It’s clear there was little effort made to ensure a pleasant stay, and their lack of concern only made matters worse.
This trip was meant to be a relaxing getaway, and instead, it was filled with stress and constant issues.
They not only failed to meet basic hospitality standards—they also failed to show any real accountability or care. We voiced our concerns and they didn't seem to care, they said they would upgrade us to a Junior Suite next time as if we were ready to come right back? We already paid extra (over $900 a night) for Preffered Club Suite with extra amenities and access to nicer restaurants and the Preffered Club lounge and pool. We had sincerely hoped for a response that reflected real accountability and a commitment to making things right — not just a generic gesture that assumes we’d be eager to return. Definitely will not be returning and highly recommend you look into another resort.

Pros-beautiful grounds at this property, pools were lovely and heated.
No reservations required for dinner.
Beds were very comfortable and pillows likewise.
Upgraded to Preferred and glad we did for the extra pools and restaurant.
Enjoyed the buffet and plenty to eat there. Pad Thai was decent in the Japanese restaurant. Salmon (noted below) also.
Breakfast was great at the Preferred club, the buffet and through room service.
Overall we had a nice time.
Cons-Food was just okay. Salmon in the French restaurant was amazing.
Service was spotty in all restaurants. Some servers were amazing, others not at all. Restaurant mgr in French restaurant needs some manners.
Drinks were not as great as other 5 star properties we’ve been at.
Noisy, noisy - all the time. Couldn’t get away from the boom boom music which permeates the resort all day/night long. Preferred pools helped. We’re only in our 50’s and found it too much. Couldn’t they tone it down a bit?
Casino - don’t bother. Machines were old, many didn’t work. No regular payouts like on a cruise or in a regular casino and the music and sound system inside was horrible.
A lot of the restaurants really need to work on the cuisine.
We found a big bug in our room the last day. Suggest that the hotel picks up the trays from room service orders more frequently.
Rooms are dated. We preferred Secrets the Vine and Secrets Maroma for decor.
We’re glad we went but would probably go somewhere else/different next time.

We are currently at this resort - we were told that it was the best of the best from a romantic and honeymoon perspective. It is our 3rd night here and it is absolutely disappointing. No one acknowledged our honeymoon even though we told the front desk upon check in and it’s on our reservation. Honeymoon banners are scattered across the surrounding hotel guest doors but we had to ask twice for them to give us one and when they finally came to put it on, they put it on the wrong door.
Our first 5 mins into the room that we waited to be “cleaned”, we noticed stains on the bedding, stains on the walls by the toilet, someone’s hair all over the shower wall and in the tub. Our mini bar was empty. I had my new husband go directly to the front desk to address these issues and we were told they would send someone up to do a “deep clean”…I’m sorry, what?! They clearly don’t “deep clean” between guests. We came back after they were done cleaning and nothing had changed. Every time we go to the front desk, nothing changes. This is our one and only time to have this honeymoon experience and it’s been so disappointing and disheartening. We talked to a couple at dinner today who suggested we write a review here because they were having issues with cleanliness in their room as well - our room is 1219, by the way….
Honestly we should have just went to the all inclusive down the street, less money for better quality. I know this review probably won’t get us much but maybe it will help some future honeymooners make a better decision than we did.

I booked my vacation through Marlin Travel, with Air Transat. I was set to travel Saturday June 7. At 4pm on Friday June 6, i was told my hotel was being changed and i wasn’t going to the hotel I booked but this hotel. While very upset about this, i had little choice but to accept the Secrets Royal Beach. While my situation is not the hotels fault, this hotel is far from what i am used to with other 5 star resorts. The gardens are very well kept, but the buildings and rooms are tired and dirty. Its took 1 1/2 hours from arriving to get to my room. The time was taken up by a sales pitch to upgrade. Not what i expect. Very poor.
The food so far is good but at dinner the first thing they do is to push upgraded wine and drinks on you.
I would suggest this is a 3 maybe 4 start at best. Very disappointing.

May vacation to our favorite place which is home for us after so many years going there.
It was another unforgettable stay at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, and everything was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and pampered. The beach was stunning, the food was delicious with plenty of options, and the service throughout the resort was top-notch. Our room was clean, stylish, and had a beautiful view. Special thanks to the management team Roberto general manager, Tatiana and Alex. The restaurant staff, bar and servers: Fany, Rosa, Daniela, ARGENI(very special), Benjamin, Rudy, Bolon, Emilia, Julio, Juan, Ariel and not the last but the best Humberto, all of them were above and beyond to make again our vacation extra special. Our concierge for so many years - Warnes - I would like to thank him again for his outstanding and impeccable services.
Also, I want to mention, the former General Manager, Domenico Cacace, who stepped into a well-deserved promotion; his leadership, dedication and integrity have shaped a strong foundation to set a standard of excellence at this resort.
The new General Manager and his team brings fresh energy while honoring the legacy that has brought this far.
Highly recommend for a relaxing and luxurious getaway!

Robert at the Preferred Lounge is the real MVP
If you’re staying at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, make sure to stop by the Preferred Lounge and ask for Robert. His margaritas are hands down the best in the resort perfectly balanced, always chilled, and crafted with care. But it’s Robert’s personality that truly makes the experience unforgettable. He’s warm, charismatic, and makes everyone feel like a VIP. More than just a bartender, he’s a highlight of the trip. Thank you, Robert, for your amazing service and for turning every drink into a memorable moment

First and foremost we had a great time at Secrets Royal Beach and I would return in an instant, having said that it’s got a couple of shortcomings that maybe they could work on.
Firstly the room, we found this to be large and mostly comfortable and the bed was lovely, however it was very tired and in need of some TLC, the bath looked awful and was scarred and stained but after giving it a good scrub myself found that it was actually clean but still the appearance was very off putting. The shower was a joke needing running for 20 mins at least before getting hot, we did report this but once the thing got up to temperature the maintenance man said there you go and walked off ! Generally lots of cracked floor tiles around and in need of a lick of paint but after a day or two we just didn’t notice it anymore but in terms of first appearances it’s also a little concerning.
Room cleaning and drinks refill was ok, basic cleaning at best and missed out on restocking of fridge a few days, however if you report this they do come very quickly and couldn’t be more helpful with topping you up with your favourite beverages,
Bars have a great selection of drinks, we did go preferred and thought it worth every penny as the drinks were definitely better at the preferred bars, the lobby lounge and pool lounge were lovely to go into and cool off.
The butler was nice although we only used his services a couple of times it was a nice extra touch and check in is lovely in preferred sat there with a cocktail whilst someone disappears with your passport and checks you in.
On the whole we found the food to be very very good with Bordeaux being our favourite, however every now and then they throw in a single terrible dish to keep you on your toes LOL I’m thinking of the Pad Thai in the Asian and the cheesecake in the Bluewater Grill both of which were bizarrely dreadful having enjoyed everything else we ate !! But in general food was lovely and you certainly won’t go hungry.
Entertainment was slightly odd, one show of 45 mins at night and granted it was very very good, but after that about 10:00pm that’s really it although there is a nightclub if you’re still in party mode.
The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained, although not beach people they work very hard at keeping the Sargassum at bay and it has minimal impact and the beach in general was lovely.
Its hard having criticised a couple of things to think why we loved our time here but the food the drinks the grounds the staff and overall laid back vibe allowed us to have a great time.
I was fortunate when booking to find a great price and I think that’s key, if you get a bargain you can shrug your shoulders at small details if you’ve paid top dollar maybe just maybe I’d expect a little more.
In finishing I just want to give a shoutout to a couple of members of staff, firstly Denise in the Coco cafe who was a little ray of sunshine in the morning to brighten your day and get you ack into that holiday mode, not to mention making a great caramel crunch coffee. And lastly Julio Baez in the preferred club bar who makes amazing cocktails and is always there for a laugh and a joke and if you’re lucky the occasional song LOL top tip have him make you a chocolate martini, not sure if there on the menu but they are incredible.

The grounds are amazingly well kept and rooms are clean and kept up with a few times a day during your stay. The food was very good and there are plenty of amenities on the resort if you’re looking to stay and relax. We were preferred club so we had a personal concierge, her name was Lvelize and she was amazing and made the trip so enjoyable for us by helping with some of the things we weren’t as familiar with. The manatee pool bar for preferred members was amazing as well especially when Carlos, Rander, and Margarita were there! They made it so much fun whether you were in the pool or just stopped by for a drink. Finally Julio B. In the lobby preferred lounge was the best bartender I’ve ever had in any of my travels! Fun, friendly, and professional! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend secrets royal beach to anyone especially if you have the privilege of enjoying the company of the staff I listed above.

We stayed at the end of May, the first time at a Secrets resort. This has to be best hotel we have ever stayed in the staff are amazing here and I mean AMAZING, Alexander from the Rendezvous lobby bar is an exceptional guy, we actually chose to stay at his bar most nights as hes so talented and encourages conversations between other guests. Angel from the swim up bar is such a wonderful, friendly, and funny guy. He works so very hard and misses absolutely no one around that pool. We are so sad we didn't get to see Angel before we left 😢 we love you from mama and (bad driving Papa 🤣🤣🤣)
We never had a bad meal here, the food was great, especially Sexy Burgers at barefoot grill 😆 another exceptional member of staff.
Queen show is most definitely the best show we've seen at any resort, actually sang and played live and his performance was powerful and enchanting.
Quite simply, we can not wait to return to the beautiful resort again.
Thank you, Secrets Royal Beach, for an amazing holiday.

My partner and I stayed at secrets royal for our anniversary, we had an extraordinary stayed’! Eveything was on point as soon as we stepped into the lobby, with that fresh cold small towels we a unique touch of elegance and welcoming. We booked our reservation with the preferred club option and our butler Dayanara was spectacular! Always on top of things. We loved that! Our room was decorated to the T and every detail and expectation was met by us. Thank you again for that! We also found the bartender Robert at the preferred club lounge by the preferred club pool. Well professional and well educated it on drinks specialties, we loved the expresso martini and many others! Y gracias Robert por el té de gengibre. También gracias margarita at the quiet pool, una señora muy atenta!! Y servicial. Gracias a euri the habachi chef great show!!! And thank you for the delicious food!! Junior el camero en el restaurante olio, muy atento y servicial. Overall our experience was outstanding by the gorgeous facilities and most by the amazing staff we engaged!! Thank you! Thank you! Special Place, Special Staff - Would Recommend
The best 2 weeks of my life, we went for the preferred option & The staff were superb. Especially Robert G. From the preferred lounge, treated us like family everyday & made our experience special. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Sad that today is my last day at this resort! Had a fabulous time and the staff and people here made it so much better!!! Too many favorites to name but Maria Nelly at the show time bar was the absolute best!!!
Had such a lovely time on our honeymoon!

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon last week and we had the best time! It was our first time in the Dominican Republic and we loved it. For me, the best part about our stay was the wonderful staff! Everyone was so genuinely kind and funny. A special mention to our butler Marcos, J-Frost our favorite from the entertainment crew, Robert our favorite bartender, and to Eduardo and Marco in the lobby! The resort is absolutely beautiful. The food was overall very good. They definitely do not skimp on the alcohol in the drinks! The drivers that brought us to and from the airport and took us on our excursions were also very nice and appreciated. Our butler Marcos was there for anything and everything we needed and he even decorated our room with rose petals as a surprise for our honeymoon :) We ended up becoming members of the Unlimited Vacation Club while we we're there so we will definitely be making our way back someday! Thank you to everyone at Secrets Royal Beach for making such wonderful memories for my husband and I!

As I write this review, we have already booked a return trip for December 2025!
We arrived at Secrets Royal Beach on April 27., 2025, Yarol welcomed us, he was very kind and professional, he showed us the map and layout of the resorts, when our butler, Brian, was busy with another guest, Yarol arranged for another butler, Irving, to take us to our room. He was so great and personable, he took us on a quick tour of the facility and told us about the amenities that were available ie: renting the pool or beach cabanas, where to get towels, where the restaurants, gym, spa, were etc. Also when we arrived, immediately Richard who was bartending offered a drink, we later saw him frequently at the Preferred Club Lounge and throughout the resort, he was always so sweet and friendly.
Our Butler, Brian was excellent, he reached out to us everyday and anything we requested which was mainly extra water he not only handled it but checked in with us to make sure it was delivered
Unfortunately, I forgot to write down our lovely housekeepers name but we were in room 3461, 4/27-5/4. She and the night housekeeper whose name I didn’t get were amazing. Our room was always perfect.
We loved our room, there was so much storage space, we had room to comfortably put everything away.
The food at all the restaurants we ate at was delicious! I wish I had the name of our waiter and his assistant at El Patio. They were so good.
Although we never sat by the pool, Rosa greeted us every morning. She introduced herself the first morning as we were headed to the beach. She was soooo fun! You could tell she loved her job!
Actually everyone we encountered casually and those we had personal contact with all appeared to love their jobs.
Agene was our waiter at the beach most of the week and then we had Ruddy and Miquel. They were so attentive. Often times we didn’t even have to ask for water it was just there.
Special shout out to Modesto at the breakfast buffet and Juan they were so delightful and fun. Modesto saved a table for us every morning and put flower petals on it.
One day at the beach, Raphi approached to see if we would like to rent a cabana, which we did. The day we picked was Friday, he got it all scheduled and then he told us that was his day off but he’d make sure we were taken care of. And we were, Ariel took great care of us. We loved it!
We ate at Olio 3 times, 4 actually, for the day in the cabana.
Shout out to John Carlos, Jonathan, Kadelin, Elena, Medina and Gabriella at Olio.
Gabriella and Humberto at Himitsu. Humberto even assisted in getting us seated quickly at Bordeaux.
Elkin at Bordeaux.
And Renso our sommelier.
When we were at Secrets Royal Beach in 2019 at the preferred club restaurant, our favorite meal, was the Paella, we ate it at least 3 times. We mentioned it to Yarol when he told us about Olio. We told our butler, Brian, because we saw Paella was not on the Olio menu. He assured us that if we asked, that he was sure they would make it. On Tuesday night we had dinner at Olio, we asked our waiter about it and he went in the kitchen to ask. Special shout out to Chef Jose Louis, he came to our table to ask what we would like. He told us what time to come on Wednesday for lunch and he prepared it for us!! It was delicious. He delivered it to our table himself! Very special.
We ordered room service a couple of times. Always delicious and our waiter who delivered was so upbeat and personable.
Everybody I mentioned was excellent, above and beyond and represent Secrets Royal Beach so well.

The Hotel is excellent in all aspects! Service is outstanding! We paid for Preferred Club, and it was great to have a better room, two private beach areas, restaurant Olio as second option for breakfast, a very nice personal concierge but we almost did not use him, and some other benefits. On the other hand, we did not use the Preferred pool and bar areas because they were always much more crowded than the main area, taking in consideration the right people and space proportions. If one day we go back, we do not think we would pay for Preferred again, but that is a kind of personal opinion and needs. For the restaurants that we have been at, from 1 to 10, taking in consideration the high level of the resort, we will give 10 to Bordeaux, 7 to Olio, 5 to El Patio, 8 to Himitsu, 9 to Bluewater Grill. In our opinion, the most important part of a beach vacation is the ocean. We have very high standards for beach water quality, and we were extremely disappointed this time. We were expecting blue crystal clear water, and we got very cloudy with lots of sargassum. We were aware of the seaweed season, but we had been at other beaches in the world with high level of sargassum, and their water was still crystal clear. So, only because of the ocean aspect, we would not return to Punta Cana for beach vacation again.

Traveled to Secrets Royal Beach for our anniversary trip and it did not disappoint! The grounds are immaculate with wonderful staff always willing to help. We were premium guests, so we had the help of Alfredo throughout our stay and he was amazing. He was always attentive and easy to get in touch with throughout the day. He definitely made our stay even more special!
The resort has many good quality delicious food options. Loved the fact that most restaurants don't need reservations. I have been to other all inclusive resorts and have ended up eating at the buffet every night because reservations fill up months in advance. This wasn't the case at Royal Beach. The Japanese restaurant is the only one that requires a reservation. Buffet also has many options and never felt over crowded.
Pool areas are spacious and very well maintained. You are also able to use the pools at the Dreams resort next door which is a nice plus if you want to spice it up. Beach area is nice and calm compared to other areas in DR.
Rooms are spacious, clean and updated with a fully stocked mini fridge.
I don't have one single complain or suggestion for Secrets Royal Beach. Loved our stay and will definitely stay there again in the near future!

We were so shocked at the lack of customer service upon check in we elected to not stay at all and left within an hour of our arrival. When we arrived not a single bell boy offered to take our luggage, We arrived several hours before check in time. What we expected to do was leave our luggage in a secure area and simply relax around the resort until check in time. We were show a nasty "hospitality" room which resembled a high school gym bathroom in need of cleaning. This room was available for us to use for changing. The toilet didn't even flush and the entire room smelled musky and unclean. From there we, along with all our luggage, were pointed into the general direction of the beach and pool. After walking around the resort for 20 minutes and not a single employee asking if we needed assistance we elected to forfeit the money we had paid for our stay and LEAVE. As a side note, we had booked the most "luxurious room" available and upgraded to "royal"service. We have never been in a resort before that would just send newly arriving visitors away from the check in desk dragging all their luggage.
This was our 8th visit to Punta Cana and the 4th resort brand we have tried. I would NOT recommend this resort if you are looking for the friendly people and outstanding customer service the DR is known for.

Altagracia, Lady and Sammy need a special mention, they looked after us diligently around the pool area all day, making and serving drinks. Great pool, lovely rooms with excellent air-conditioning. Excellent selection of food and drink. Will definitely be coming back. Booked two excursions, one to Saona island with my holiday provider and dolphin Explorer with Amtours. Both excursions were amazing. Look for Wisla from Amtours in the lobby or pool area, excellent rep. Thanks for a great 10 days all of you!

Preferred or no?
My husband and I went for two weeks this year and one week last year. We didn't do preferred and we have NO regrets for the following reasons:
Butler - my husband is super energetic, he is my butler :)
Pools - we don't do the pool, we are solely beach people. The lazy river has no current; it's just a long pool.
Premium liquor - we aren't that particular and drank what was offered
Upgraded room - there are no full ocean view rooms, and the ones on the lazy river are very loud
The only thing that would have been nice is to be able to go to Olio for breakfast and lunch. We got them down to $1400 for preferred so we looked at it like is Olio worth $100 a day... no. Go for a longer stay rather than the preferred is my recommendation.
Beach
There's some sargassum, but honestly, it's very minimal. It's a problem further up the beach, but the boom and the hotel do an amazing job of managing it. We only stayed on the beach and had no problems whatsoever. The water has turquoise around it but not crystal clear to walk into. Still very pretty to look at.
If you swim out closer to the boom you will see sting rays, a few fish and sea turtles. Some of the locals didn't believe us but we saw a sea turtle every single time we went in. Bring a snorkle and a mask or you can rent from the seapro shop.
There are beach vendors. Man these guys work hard! Out in the sun for 14 hours, they don't seem to drink, eat, pee or sit!
Be polite but firm they stopped bothering us after a few days because they knew we weren't interested. Don't even look at their stuff. The hotel gift shop has the same trinkets for cheaper. Also there stuff doesn't even represent what's in Dominican. They have statues of elephants and giraffes lol. No crabs, sea turtles, rays or tropical fish all of which is available.
Staff
They work so hard! Juan and Ruben will definitely get you what you need on the beach. J. Frost seems like he is head of entertainment and does a great job. Their tag line "It's a pleasure" seems absolutely genuine from everyone. Even the women cleaning the bathroom are so kind, helpful and are constantly keeping everything stocked and clean. The servers during the shows are incredible. I have no ide how they remember who has ordered what drink. These people are incredible. I wish my 19 year old son were there to see what hard work really looks like!
Entertainment
As a former singer/dancer I am picky. Some shows and dancers were better than others but overall the entertainment is great! The Queem show is the best but the hotel singer dancers are great, especially Camila Moreno, wow!
Restaurants
We ate early to get to the pre-show and show so never had to wait. As a lover of French food I found the menu of Bordaux disappointing and we never went. Would love to see a new menu. Olio and the Bluewater grill were our favourites. Clarivel at Olio was an absolute delight. The buffet for breakfast had everything you could ever want. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the lack of options for lunch. Two weeks of the beach grill got a little monotonous. They have nachos, chicken, burgers and hot dogs every single day. I would have loved the opportunity to make a sandwich or have a pizza without having to leave the beach area and walk all the way back to the buffet.
Room service
We didn't do it. Don't stay in your room and eat, go out and enjoy. We will never understand this!
Excursions
We went diving - awesome. Price is comparable to other places around the world
We did the snorkel excursion where a boat took us to the reef to snorkel for an hour for an hour at $50 per person.
We almost did Soana but it's a whole day and I don't want to give up a whole day.

We went to the Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana Resort in July 2025. We were overall very impressed with the service that we received. However, there were two people that went above and beyond to help! Angel who was the waiter at the party pool was amazing! He was so kind and attentive to everyone! He had a great personality, and was hilarious!
The other one who was so kind and helpful that I wanted to mention was Reyes at the front desk. We needed a late check out it since our flight was not until almost 6pm and he totally worked with us. When there was a giant line of people to check in, he remembered us.. took us to the side for an extra 2 minutes and got us checked out quickly! We would defiantly recommend people going to this resort, especially receiving service from these two!

Got to airport 3 hours early. At 9:20 they said you cannot board plane unless you have yellow dot- we went up there and the pic of the immigration papers I did and confirmation # was not correct they kept saying the PDF version and I had to redo it because we started boarding I think at 9:38
Landed in Punta Cana- 2 hour wait in immigration line with no AC, no water nothing
Stood in customs line so they could ask if we had a banana- line about 20 mins
Go to the Axstar guys they are confused (guys in blue shirts and yellow caps and shirt said Axstar) they said that bus, then something in Spanish then said yeah. They take us there and there are other agents on bus, with blue shirts talking to other people. They are going to different hotel. There’s internet on this bus and I reached out to you about the pamphlet cuz everyone had one but me. I told the guy talking to his clients he said he would check and it was about 35 mins later some chic with red hair comes to the bus and asks for Janet Marie, I said I am Jeanette Marie she hands me pamphlet then saids “hold on you are Jill Marie” I said I am not I am Jeanette Marie. The pamphlet I had first was my correct name and then she rips the pamphlet out of hand and saids no you are Jill I tell her no and take pamphlet back then she walks off bus yelling in Spanish to others. We never had any guy talked to us like they did to the other clients. Then the red hair chic came back a few minutes later and saids this is wrong bus and takes us to new bus. There was no internet on this bus but it went to our hotel.
We get to hotel Cindy is first person we see, she saids “is this your first time” we say yes she saids “but not last” we say we don’t know she saids “you be back then starts asking for credit card.” We still have had no water, no food at this point since getting on plane. Another couple right besides that that rode bus with us from airport here, sat down a couple of minutes after us and was immediately offered water. We have never been here before and have no clue what we can or can’t do. That’s the same thing with the water, if someone does not travel much and they reach out to travel agent a travel agent should tell their client not to drink the water, I have no way of knowing what questions to ask if I don’t even know there’s an issue. Who walks around thinking the water is bad if they live somewhere where the water is fine. I don’t like how you told me it was my “job” to find the questions to ask I don’t feel that is professional as a travel agent or decent: if you know you should let your clients know and then not tell them it’s their fault for not knowing to ask.
Finally after that, I said I won’t give credit card info and another person steps in. I don’t know her name, she was not wearing a name tag and she said no credit card needed and went thru map with us. She said Carlos will be in here in 5 mins. 10 mins pass no Carols so they find some guy name William.
The concierge William takes us to our room where the fridge tipped over on my food, all the drinks fell out, everything was hot and then the back door leading to the pool was broken. We walked back up front (which is not a short distance) and tell a different person. She said “it be taken care of we would give you new room but none available.” They said maybe 20 mins after 10 they said we should eat. So we drag all our stuff to one of their restaurants to eat. The lady told me she will be there after we eat so we can get key back.
Guess what, we ate a bout and hour and we go back and that lady is not there. Some punk kid who wants to know my room # is and when I said I don’t know he said “really you don’t know” then a concierge named Caesar comes in. Caesar was nice but said Carlos is our concierge and would be here shortly. We are day three of our trip we never met Carlos.
We don’t ask for anything but bottled water and we haven’t had any in two days. We are only here four days and 3 nights.
On day 2 of this trip we went to the preferred lounge where we spent a lot of money to upgrade us and requested resort manager due to how bad our room was checking in. With broken lock and fridge tipping over and not cooling things down and safe broke.
Ramses is who we got. He assured us by 4 pm on Thursday we will get room and told us to meet him at his office on other side of resort at 4. We arrive at 4 and he didn’t show til 4:20 and said ro was not done. He said people checked out at 1 or 2 and house keeping isn’t there but in 1 1/2 hours it should be done. Around 5:30 we got room. There was no bottle water, soda or anything in mini fridge/bar. We told our concierge and now it’s Friday and we don’t have anything.
Here’s the kicker they needed from 9am til 5:30pm to get us new room. But when we moved I went to old room 4 mins after new room, becuase they only moved us 4 rooms over and house keeping was there and they were restocking the mini bar. We still have nothing. I’m still in Punta Cana it’s Friday the 17th it’s the worst vacation I ever had and I don’t think I’ll ever travel again. Also when they switched our room they didn’t put our last name on it. So everything we try to walk to Dreams or preferred services we have to ask them to reach to Ramses cause they have our last name as Jones and our old room had the correct last name.
I don’t know if we just are unlucky or if this is how they handled things. We saved for 4 years, we are not rich for this terrible experience and needed this trip more then ever and we can’t even have bottle water in our room.
I don’t recommend but maybe we just have poor luck.

We stayed at Secrets Royal Beach for 9 nights from July 8th to July 17th. This resort was beyond perfect. The Preferred Club check in and check out were seamless and fast. We stayed in an ocean view Master Suite that was large, spacious and beautiful. Our butler, Ivalise, was an absolute angel. She was always smiling and happy. She contacted us every morning to check in and see if there was anything that we needed. She always made it a point to swing by to personally say Hi and make sure our room and any needs were taken care of. She went way way further than 'above and beyond'. We will request Ivalise on our next visit there. We also had very positive and memorable interactions with Carlos and Niko. Both of these gentlemen were very active around the resort, but always took the time to talk to us and make sure that everything was to our liking. When they asked if there was anything we needed, it wasn't just lip service. It was a caring and sincere question. The breakfast staff at Olio was spectacular every morning. Charina, the singing hostess, always greeted guests with a smile and a beautiful singing voice. If that doesn't brighten your day, go back to bed. Our servers, Rafael and Danni were on top of their game every day. We sat at the same table 9 days to make sure we had them as our servers. Melvin aka 'la machina' at the swim up bar was simply NOT human. He sang, he danced, and he mixed like the machine he is. Always smiling and always a nod and handshake every day. Our pool server Altagracia was a walking ball of energy. We never saw her without a huge smile on her face. She knew what we wanted before we even told her. She was just fabulous. Our hostess with the mostest, Juldania was a dream of a hostess. Again, always smiling and a great person to talk to. We had so much fun with her, we searched for her even if she wasn't the host at the restaurant we were eating at. The entertainment staff is full of hard working, high energy, dancing and comedic characters. Flower, JLow, Nova, Golden Boy, Chicken Legs, Aladin, Hot Coffee, Junior and the leader of the pack Luis aka 'conan the barbarian'. This team led the games, contests, dance lessons, painting, water aerobics, pool bicycling, floating yoga and every activity at the pool by day and were back at it for the nightly entertainment. Such a great group of young people. If you are craving a great coffee or latte, Yilda at the Coco Cafe is your girl. She not only makes great drinks, but her smile will also light up the evening sky. Special thanks to Eduardo from Amstar. Not only did he arrange our transportation back to the airport, but also suggested an excursion that was absolutely perfect for us. His knowledge and passion is irreplaceable. Thank you to the entire staff for making our first trip to Punta Cana such a memorable one and making us WANT to return to Secrets to see you all again.

We recently spent a week in Punta Cana at Secrets Royal Beach and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The nightly entertainment was pleasant and fun, and the staff working at the restaurants and around the pool were wonderful. Across the board, everyone went above and beyond to ensure guests received excellent service. In particular, Romoncito stood out—he worked tirelessly with a cheerful smile all day long and made everyone feel welcome.
The food was better than average, and the fresh fruit was absolutely fantastic. Our room was okay—we had expected a bit more, but there’s no complaint from us. Overall, for a five-star resort, everything was just right

Just back from 11 glorious nights in this amazing hotel. It has beautiful gardens that are perfectly maintained and the whole place is spotless all the time. The choice of food available is great, from the buffet serving all you could ever want to the 5 different restaurants that you can use any night makes for a perfect holiday. The staff in these restaurants try and make every meal
Special. In the French restaurant they bring your food under a cloche and do the big reveal to every customer all night long. They are friendly and very helpful. The food is amazing , huge steaks in the steak house and delicious dishes in the Asian. Could not fault any of it. The room was clean and well presented. Bed was comfy and the room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels left to use. The pool
Scene allows plenty of options from quiet areas to lively swim up pool
bars. The staff in these bars work so hard to make your holiday memorable especially Sebastian in the infinity pool area. Makes up special cocktails that are delicious. The sea is just a short walk down over the sand. We had some sea weed for a few days but it was soon cleared away and never stopped us swimming in the beautiful warm water. At night time the entertainment team work hard to keep all the guests happy. They do a great job and every night from 9pm every night there is some form of production, all were very good. Overall we had a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the world, would highly recommend this hotel.

First time in punta cana and secrets royal beach from UK.
We have been here for two weeks and had the best time non preferred. Beautiful Resort, was apprehensive with reading some reviews after we booked. But as I always say you cant please everyone and people need to find something to moan about. Look for the positive pollys and have a great time.
Pools
We visited all the pools both in dreams and secrets, quiet pool in secrets was my favourite. Shout out to the two waitresses around that pool. Great service from them.
We used the bali beds one day for 50 usd.
We done a spa day, had a great massage and use of the facilities.
Room was tropical view, massive balcony, extra large bed, jacuzzi bath. Perfect for our needs, coffee making facilities, iron and hair dryer which was powerful. Mini fridge. With juice beer and water. Every day.
FOOD
We went to mostly all the restaurants.
Bluewater grill 10/10 ribs and Angus ribeye
Portifino Italian in dreams 9/10
French resturaunt 10/10
Mexican 7/10
Asian resturaunt 8/10
tides seafood grill 9/10
Buffet breakfast 8/10
Buffet lunch 7/10
Buffet dinner 7/10
Buffet was fine but we only went for breakfast or lunch.
Coco cafe 10/10 for coffee and service from the girls who work in there always cheery.
We also visited the beach which was fine, but wasnt what we were expecting.
Entertainment team and all the staff work very hard. The Resort is kept clean and tidy someone is always busy doing something to keep it up to standard 👌 was impressed. Entertainment cant really comment on night time Entertainment we were early beds and up early to enjoy our day.
We used the gym couple of times machines were fine.
We also visited soana island wow just beautiful glad we went. We used get your guide instead of tui. Only downside was the bus journey was lonnng. But a great day trip, left at 7 am got back at 8pm
Would I recommend secrets royal beach 100% would i return? no as I would love to explore different parts of the carribean.
Go and have fun and enjoy every minute, this Resort has lots to offer.
