We booked based on a recommendation of our travel agent. The resort itself is beautiful! Cristian was our concierge and what a wonderful employee to have on the staff! We had a bit of the flu during our stay and he was very helpful in assisting withbour needs. He also sent a daily agenda of what is going on for the day so that is a great heads up to make sure you get to do all the activities you want to! The staff is very attentive and the service is phonomal! In our room, we got a mini bar, but there is no liquor, just beer. The meals have all been excellent and the drinks do continue to flow at all the bars around the resort. There isn't a whole lot of entertainment around the pool so if you're looking for a slower pace this is good. We did visit the spa for a relaxing massage and my guy wasn't sure about it but after it was done he might be hooked! Janet was my masseuse and she was wonderful! Overall I gave it a 4 because we were looking for a bit more on-site to do but overall it was a wonderful choice to go to for a milestone birthday week!

My husband and I just returned from the Secrets Cap Cana and what an amazing trip. This resort was a top 5 star for sure. We upgraded to Premium and worth every penny. We had a private beach area that was never full and lounge chairs were always readily available. The resort was very clean and the amenities was amazing.
Beach - nice clean sandy beach with plenty and sun and shade. Water was amazing and everything was just so clean. We sailed and did paddle boarding daily which are included and I would recommend it. They had kayaks as well.
Pool - we only spent vert little time at the preferred club pool but the time there was great. Cleaned daily and nice an quiet. It was a large pool so plenty of room
Room - we were in building 9 - top floor. Amazing Oceanview room with a nice balcony and soaker tub. Cleaning was amazing and the only thing which I would recommend is a bit more privacy flaps from your neighbor on the patio. I didn't like going out and sitting in the tub where my neighbor can see me, but that is just me, maybe others are okay with it. Otherwise this is not a complaint - it's a preference.
Restaurants - all were so amazing . The French (Bordeaux), Italian (Portofino) and Asian (Himitsu) were our top 3. Oceana was great for seafood as well. All staff were so nice. It was very clean. We had no wait times. We ate daily breakfast at the preferred section restaurant (Rosewater) The best food and the best staff..amazing.
Coco Cafe was a great place to have some nice specialty coffee's and snacks as well. We also had as daily BBQ set up at the preferred section beach and offered a nice variety of daily lunch option in an outdoor beach setting.
Entertainment - so much going on there was never a dull moment. Favorites show time was the Rock and Roll where they played some great music from the 80's. Tina Turner tribute was also great. The lobby had different evening shows as well (fire show/acrobatics, etc..? Very fun and lively.
Butler - nice about upgrading to preferred is you have a butler. Ours was Philippe and he was truly amazing. He texted us daily with information, was able to help with the few things we asked for and just very hospitable. Always smiling and servicing his clients with professionalism and excitement. Thanks Philippe for everything and we will be back!!
Transportation - we took a private transfer back to the airport that Philippe arranged for us and well worth it. Only $35 US but we had 2 extra hours at the resort rather than the airport.
Preferred club lounge and check in - nice, clean, fast and amazing service
Airport - coming in was the quickest. Our flight was late getting in so I believe we were the only flight so it was quick. On our way out, it was quick as well since we had elite we were able to bypass the long lines and were in and through security in under 20 min. We have been to the DR many times but I don't remember the prices as high as they are now. A wine and 2 water of bottles were $26 US. A little pricy for my Canadian taste but they have you once you're there. Airport was clean and plenty of shopping to do, but again, very expensive but some things in Duty free were ok.
Overall, it was a 5 star for sure and we will be back. We stayed at many different places in the Dominican Republic over the past 10+ years but this was the top. If you are looking for an adult only luxury vacation - I would highly recommend this one.

This hotel is one of the best we have stayed at. Check in was quick and easy, cold towel and drink after a long flight. Room was very nice ( 5603) . We ate at all the restaurants which were all very good. The pool was a bit cold but refreshing. The beach is beautiful, soft white sand, with plenty of sunbeds at anytime of day.
Johan was our concierge, he is very helpful, sorted any very minor issues we had immediately. Came and found us in our favourite place every day to check all was well. All the staff are friendly and helpful, they are a BIG asset to the hotel!!!
We would definitely recommend this hotel, and hope to return soon.
Thankyou once again JOHAN and all the STAFF at Secrets.

Our trip to Secrets Punta Cana was great. From the minute we got there we were treated absolutely wonderful. From Daniela helping us with our membership to our concierge Louis who was just Fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our anniversary vacation. Mary and Alexandria at the Cafe are the sweetest people that made the best iced coffees and teas, and Jose made delicious omelets and the staff for breakfast went over and beyond. We truly were so sad when we left. Hopefully we can visit again and we certainly told all our friends that they have to visit this resort. And the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because when we had our romantic dinner on the beach my New York strip steak was cooked medium and I asked for medium well and when we had breakfast in our room they forgot my hubby's bacon. Other than that wonderful vacation!

So we visited Secrets Cap Cana in early February for 2 weeks. For a starters the whole resort was beautiful, modern decor and well maintained. We sampled all the restaurants and loved the menu choices, and everything we ate was very good, we especially loved oceana for the seafood. The staff make this place amazing, very attentive to your every need, and our concierge was especially helpful. The choice of drinks was plentiful and we had many a good night sat at the lobby bar.
Our only criticism was they seem to have lots of conferences going on, which in general didn’t interfere at all with our holiday, until the last few days of our trip, were there seemed to be an extremely large conference where two restaurants were closed on 2 different evenings, and our meals although very good, the service seemed very rushed between courses to other nights, which may have been a staffing issue as on those nights, the hotel held 2 evenings in the buffet restaurant for the conference guests. This also resulted in the lobby bar being to busy later in the evenings.
Would we return, yes we would, just wouldn’t want our experience of the last few nights to last the whole of our holiday

We stayed at Secrets Cap Cana the end of January. I'm going to do a pros and cons list because I feel like that is the best way to do a review.
Pro's:
The staff was top notch! You could not ask for better staff members. Our butler was Leonardo and he was awesome. You download the app and it tells you which restaurants are open and activities/show for the day. Other staff to mention are: Carlos, Vanessa, Manuel, Mary, Junior and Wilfredo. Our housekeeping staff was outstanding.
Our butler arranged a private dinner outdoors that was fabulous and Carlos was our waiter.
The food and service is very good anywhere you go. Our favorites were the Teppanyaki table, (Himitsu), Portofino and Bordeaux. Least favorite was El Patio, although they have a margarita cart that was good.
We loved the coffee shop on the premises. Mary was always friendly. This is a nice feature as it is open 24 hours. We would go there in the morning, get our latte's and a pastry and head to the beach. It's also open later so after dinner you can get a sweet treat to go.
Our room (7205) was very nice. The balcony opened up to the pool, so music and loud drinkers should be expected, although it was quiet inside the room. We loved the double shower, soaking tub and the bed was comfortable.
The grounds are beautiful, clean and no bugs! They really take pride in the upkeep of the resort. People are always working to make the resort luscious and clean.
The weather was amazing! The bathrooms on the beach were spotless.
Cons:
People smoking. I wish there were designated places where they can smoke. Maybe not the resort's fault, but it was gross just trying to throw something away and be bombarded by smokers around the garbage cans.
There were not a lot of chairs around the pool and we were told no saving chairs, although everyone did. This also happened at the beach. We would come down to the preferred area in the morning to get chairs and people put their belongings on the chairs before towels were even available. Then you would see them come down to the beach a couple hours later.
Do not come to this resort for the beach, plain and simple. The preferred beach was rocky in the sand in areas and you CANNOT walk into the water without an exorbitant amount of seaweed wrapped around your feet. You can see it in the water and they clean it up every day on the beach. There are also deep holes in the water where my husband fell. You can easily break a foot/hip/knee going into the water. If you walk down to the next resort you can go in, but it's not great. This was disappointing.
Not knowing the day before which restaurants are open, which makes making reservations difficult. You find out the day of which restaurants are open that day and then hope you can get a reservation, although this rarely happened, but the resport was not at full capacity.
Lastly, the sales pitch. DO NOT get roped into this. It will take hours out of your day and they will not take no for an answer. We left there frustrated, hot, and annoyed. Our sales person was very nice, but after 3 no's we had enough.
Overall I would say we enjoyed our vacation and the pros outweigh the cons. I think the biggest disappointment is the beach.

Everyone person who works at this resort are very hardworking people and deserve to be tipped accordingly
We are excited for 2025 Secrets Playa Esmeralda

My husband and I went to Secrets Cap Cana for the second time this December. Once again the service was beyond any other resort we have vacationed. The food was delicious, especially the Dominican lunches on the beach and dinner in the garden. Our room was cleaned to perfection each day and evening. It was also cool and quiet. I highly recommend visiting the spa. Massiel was wonderful and did my hair each night. The pool bar is a blast. Thank you to Indira, Raudi, Jose, Manuel, Ariel, and Odalis for making us feel like family each day. We cannot wait to visit again in 2025!!

Superb hospitality super hotel
Amazing experience, hospitality on an extra level and go above to make your stay special. Everything in hotel was of a superb standard.
Only improvement would be to allow reservations for dinner.
By far best hotel stay ever and hope to come again in future.

This was our second visit to this wonderful resort having been here in February 2024.
I can honestly say everything was as brilliant as we remembered and I was completely amazed that several staff actually remembered us and greeted us like old friends.
We stayed preferred just as we did last time as we like the additional options with extra restaurants, pool and separate part of the beach. Our butler last year was Anibal who catered for our every need so we requested him again and he did not disappoint - great service, once again, was provided.
Anibal had 3 days break during our stay so his butler duties were undertaken by Carlos. I think Carlos is one of the most smiley, happy people I've ever met, he was a real pleasure and took care of us extremely well.
I can highly recommend both of these butlers.
Our room was well appointed. Mini fridge was restocked daily and our room maid did an excellent job of keeping everything clean and tidy and we really liked the turn down service, coming back to your room at the end of a long day to find everything ready for a good night's sleep was lovely.
Our favourite restaurants this year for dinner were Bordaux and Oceana. The menu choices were well thought out and the food was superbly cooked and beautifully presented. The staff who served us in both of these restaurants were extremely conscientious and really just wanted to make sure you had the best time. Having a pianist play on a Friday night a Bordaux really created a wonderful ambience.
Special mention to Enoch at Oceana who really made our night.
We loved Rosewater for breakfast and lunch, the location and view is wonderful, food excellent and they have the 'dream team' staff waiting on you - fabulous bunch of people all working so hard. We enjoyed a Dominican lunch at Rosewater water, full credit to the lady chief, it was absolutely delicious.
Market cafe was also one of our favourites for breakfast and lunch. There is a huge selection of foods catering for a vast range of preferences and dietary requirements. Everything is beautifully presented and of a really high quality.
Staff there are lovely, attentive and willing to make sure you have everything you need. One staff member in particular- Luis Ariel Ventura Rosario really looked after us. Provided the best service with the utmost care and attention to detail, a really polite, friendly man who was a pleasure to have met. He really has the makings of a supervisor or butler, he would be perfect in one of these roles.
The pools and beach are extremely well maintained and are simply beautiful. The seawater remains shallow for a long way out and is lovely and warm.
The complimentary water sports were well used by us and much enjoyed.
The theatre shows - much hard work goes into these but some were way better than others. Several of the shows were the same as last year.
The resort has many bars with excellent bar tenders who like to put on a show. Great choice of alcohol especially in the preferred lounge.
We loved the improvements to the preferred lounge, extra seating, greater selection of snacks and we even had a singer one evening which was great. The bar tenders there are top notch - Javier in the day and Franklin of an evening both who made the best drinks on the resort.
The entertainment team work extremely hard and do an excellent job. We really enjoyed the handicraft, jewellery making, dancing, culinary tour, rum, wine and chocolate tasting and of course the Dominican day celebrations on the beach. Special shout out to Beyonce who was a lovely person, full of fun and did an excellent job.
This year we did use the spa. We booked a couples massage and hydrotherapy.
The massage was fantastic, really enjoyed that. The hydrotherapy, whilst enjoyable, could have been better. Unfortunately some of the jets were not working on several parts of the circuit. The sauna and steam room were great but the hot tub water was quite dirty.
Overall we had another absolutely fantastic holiday here. It really is a beautiful place with the best staff who excel at customer service. I am hoping we will return again one day soon.

The initial welcome drink was very nice. Check-in was really nice S you got to sit down abs they came to you, rather than standing at the main reception desk.
Carlos, took us to our room and told us where we can find things . When he saw us around the complex the next day he was always checking that we were ok.
There wasn’t sunbed wars while we were here, which was a massive plus for us.

From the moment we arrived at Secrets Cap Cana, we knew we were in for something special. Our luggage was wisked away, and we were greeted with a refreshing cool towel and a glass of chilled champagne—a perfect way to start our vacation! Juan welcomed us to his desk and the check-in process was easy and quick..
Next, our incredible concierge, Jeison, arrived to 'welcome us home'. This was our 3rd visit to Secrets Cap Cana. We requested Jeison because we know he is the absolute best. Again, Jeison went above and beyond in every way—he was helpful, thoughtful, considerate, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He anticipated our needs before we even realized them ourselves. His dedication to making our stay perfect was evident daily, and we truly felt like VIP guests under his care.
We appreciated Odalis at the Manatee Bar. He was quick with a smile and friendly conversation. Benito is quite the crafter of excellent margaritas. On the beach, friendly Cesar made sure we had everything we needed. .
Secrets Cap Cana is a breathtaking resort with stunning views, luxurious accommodations, and top-notch dining, but it’s the staff that makes this place truly extraordinary. Our experience was made unforgettable by Jeison, Juan, Odalis, and Cesar, whose warmth and hospitality created memories we will cherish forever.
Our daughters like to suggest that we try different resorts for our yearly winter get-a-way but we know that Secrets Cap Cana has everything we're looking for and it would be a difficult act to follow. We can’t wait to return!

We recently stayed at SCC for my husband's birthday. Overall, it was the best AI we have been to in the Carribean.
We stayed in non-preferred ocean view, building 5. The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable. There were some minor maintenance issues that were repaired efficiently. Housekeeping service was excellent. Room was cleaned daily; turndown service was done every night. A con was a constant smell of food cooking in our room. I am guessing since we were on the top floor above the restaurants on the first floor, the ventilation system was pulling in the smells. Additionally, the same ventilation system made sitting on the balcony a bit noisy. My suggestion is to request a room on the 4th floor or below which also gives you a solid roof over the balcony if it rains.
The food was very good; well presented with reasonable portions. We enjoyed our meals at the restaurants and the daily beach BBQ's.
The drinks were the best I have had at an AI. Made with a good amount of alcohol and reals juices, no sweet mixers. The bar staff is amazing. The staff at the Barracuda bar on the beach took care of us throughout the day since we could not get a beach waiter to acknowledge us (not sure why, hence the 4 stars). The bar staff in the lobby bar were not only great mixologists but also entertainers (think Cocktail with Tom Cruise). They made the best chocolate martinis! The house wine is not great, but we could not see spending $85 for a bottle of wine we can get for $15 at home.
Our concierge, Jourdain, took great care of us. He checked in daily and sent us the Sundial newsletter so we could plan our day. For my husband's birthday he arranged to have a cake and bottle of champagne sent to our room and, he decorated the bed with rose petals. Thank you Jourdain for making my husband's day special!
The highlight of the trip for us was the culinary tour with Diva. She is a delight. We were very fortunate to be the only couple on the tour and felt like VIP's! Manuel, the night restaurant manager, led the tour to each of the 4 main restaurants. We met with the Sommelier and the chefs of each restaurant who present a sample of their food. A drink accompanied each tasting which was chosen to complement the tasting. The staff were gracious and answered questions. When Manuel discovered it was my husband's birthday, he made certain we ate at the restaurant of our choice and visited us during dinner to check-in. He is a great ambassador for the Secrets brand, and we are so pleased to have met him during this vacation.

The service at this resort is second to none.
This was a trip for our milestone wedding anniversary and the attention given to us at this Secrets resort was absolutely incredible. And it was cheerfully given.
Everyone-the waiters, hostesses, housekeepers and groundskeepers- smiled and were generally pleasant.
Our room was cleaned twice daily.
No reservations needed at the restaurants-they were so well-staffed you didn’t have to wait long if at all to get in. The food was great.
Highly recommend the Japanese (for sushi) and the seafood restaurant for dinner.
There was a concierge who checked in with us daily but all our needs were met and we didn’t need his help.
We were not even in the “Preferred” part of the resort.
The Preferred option didn’t seem worth paying for in my opinion.
Preferred guests get their own section of the beach and their own pool so there is snob appeal. Premium alcohol apparently if you’re a drinker.
But we were perfectly happy despite being unpreferred.
We had only one issue:
We paid extra for an “ocean view” room.
However, it was mainly a resort view with the ocean on the horizon-in the distance.
In fact there was so little ocean in our view that we asked to be moved—still got a resort view but a little more ocean.
We spent very little time in the room anyway-not really worth it to upgrade to a view which is not as described.
Despite this one issue, it was a fabulous vacation and we will definitely be back.

This was my first experience with an all-inclusive, adults-only property. The resort is quite isolated and there are no restaurants or stores within walking distance. The beach was beautiful but only extended about 4 properties in length so no long walks. Hot tub was broken. We had an ocean front room that was so musty I could barely stand it. In retrospect I should have requested a room change but didn’t want to be a pain and thought they probably all smelled the same. They did bring a dehumidifier and some incense which helped after about 4 days. Food and beverage were just ok. Everything I ate was bland and unseasoned. House wines were meh. On the flip side I loved the infinity pool and the ocean water was warm, calm and so shallow. My favorite thing to do is just float and there’s a gigantic net enclosing the bay so there’s no danger of being swept out to sea. What really made the trip was the staff. Jeison our concierge was attentive without being over bearing. He checked in with us every day, patiently answered our questions and expertly arranged our transport back to the airport. Morris at the pool made sure we had fresh towels and plenty of shade. Infinity Pool Madelyn immediately knew our drinks and kept them coming. Her positive energy was a bright light.

We went to this resort for one week to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we didn’t want to leave! The resort has an amazing territory with big swimming pool and breathtaking private beach. It has enough sunbeds so we never had to look for one. Everything is in a short distance: good gym, spa, great photo-spots, bars everywhere, 24h coffee shop and 5 or 6 restaurants. The main restaurant has a very big selection of food and every day they add something new, we didn't get bored of the same food. Dining restaurants are great too, our favourite was Grill bar. As a vegetarian I didn't have a chance to be hungry - so many options for vegetarians and vegans! Anywhere you go they offer you a drink 😁 And a lot of activities happenning during the day and live music/shows at night. Rooms are big with all necessary toiletries. Staff was friendly and helpful, everyone just so nice that you feel like home. Wanna thank every person who works in this beautiful place!
Some tips for your visit:
• bring enough sunscreen because sun is harsh and local shop is pricey
• for men it is necessary to have trousers to enter some of the restaurants
• be prepared to gain weight!
Message for the resort team:
We were a bit surprised that my husband's birthday wasn't mentioned in your daily newspaper while you mentioned everyone's else. Also would be great to have clear information about preferred club guests zones because first day we took the sunbed and apparently it was preferred only. But we enjoyed the stay a lot and happy to return!
Thank you for your hospitality, great food and amazing people who made our holiday exceptional!

My fiancé and I recently stayed at Secrets Cap Cana for a romantic getaway and absolutely loved our time there. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beauty and layout of the resort. The open-air lobby with its soaring ceilings offers a breathtaking first impression—our driver even mentioned that this is the only resort in the area where you can see straight through to the ocean from the front drive. It definitely set the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful stay.
One of our favorite spots quickly became the 24-hour Coco Café, where we regularly stopped for iced coffee, milkshakes, and delicious pastries. It was a nice little luxury to have access to whenever we needed a pick-me-up.
Upon arrival, we asked if there were any swim-out pool room upgrades available. There weren’t at the time, but the staff let us know one would be open on our third day. We decided to go for it and paid for the upgrade (which we later found out we could have negotiated—lesson learned!). Still, both rooms we stayed in were beautiful. The first felt luxurious by any all-inclusive standard, with a chic, modern design and even a soaking tub on the balcony (which we didn’t end up using).
Our Concierge, Ramon, truly made our trip unforgettable. He met us in the lobby upon arrival, gave us a tour, and escorted us to our room. He shared his contact info, and we were able to message him directly for anything we needed throughout our stay. When it came time to switch rooms, Ramon offered to hand us off to a butler (a perk of the Preferred Club), but we genuinely didn’t want to part with him—his service was that outstanding.
Ramon not only personally walked us to our upgraded room, but he also surprised us by decorating it to celebrate our engagement. There was a "Just Engaged" sign on the door, rose petals on the bed, a sweet card, and a bottle of champagne delivered shortly after. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel truly special. He continued to support us throughout the trip, even arranging a courtesy room for us to get ready on our last day since our flight was later in the evening. We feel incredibly lucky to have had him, and we hope to see him again on a future visit!
Now let’s talk about that upgraded room—it was amazing. We stayed in a Preferred Club swim-out suite in Building 4, which was beachfront. From our patio, we could walk straight into the pool, and just beyond that, we had a perfect view of the sand and sea. Although the pool was shared with a few other suites, it felt private, and we only ever crossed paths with one other lovely couple. The beach service was top-notch, and servers even came to the edge of the pool to take drink orders!
Nightlife at the resort was a pleasant surprise, too. The Secrets Band performed themed tribute shows every evening in the theater—Alicia Keys, Madonna, Queen, The Beatles, and more. We looked forward to it each night at 9pm. There was also live music in the lobby area and some exciting performances like fire baton dancers and acrobatics. Afterward, a DJ kept the party going. The night bartenders were fun, friendly, and kept the energy lively.
The only downside for us, unfortunately, was the food. There are several restaurants on-site with a range of international cuisines (French, Italian, Mexican, Japanese/Hibachi, Steakhouse, Seafood, plus the buffet and poolside spots). While the variety was great, we found the food to be underwhelming—somewhat low quality, heavy on sauces, and generally felt mass-produced. This was consistent with our past experiences at other all-inclusives, so while it didn’t ruin our trip by any means, we had hoped for better given the resort's stellar reviews. That said, many guests we spoke with enjoyed the meals, and the staff at the restaurants went above and beyond in service. The issue felt more like a general limitation of all-inclusive dining rather than a reflection of the staff or resort itself.
Overall, Secrets Cap Cana is a stunning resort with top-tier service, beautiful rooms, and a peaceful yet entertaining vibe. Despite the food not being our favorite, the rest of the experience more than made up for it. We’re especially grateful to Ramon for making our engagement celebration so memorable. We would absolutely return—and next time, we’ll try negotiating that room upgrade price!

This was our first visit to Secrets Cap Cana and it was awesome. The resort is very beautiful, clean and the food was delicious. The entire staff is very friendly and will do anything to make your stay a great experience. Our Butler Ricardo made our stay extra special as he was fun to talk to and checked on us multiple times per day. We had a couple of small issues and he took care of them without us having to do anything. We never left the resort as there was no need to. The only thing I found disappointing was they had the ocean at the beach roped off so we couldn't take the Catamarans past the rope. This made it very difficult to sail especially with people swimming in the water so we did not do this. All of the restaurants were Very good, the coffee cafe was open 24 hours which was nice as we are early risers. We go to an all-inclusive every year and this was definitely one of our favorites and we will go back

Mostly loved the resort. The property is beautiful and the staff is really amazing.
The musty/moldy room smell was a real problem for us. We switched rooms and buildings but it persisted. It seemed to us that the AC either needs to be cleaned or replaced because it just can keep up with the humidity issues. The staff does their best and will bring you a dehumidifier and sprays/damp rid, but it's tough. Without the dehumidifier our room was 70% humidity with the AC on. With it, we could get humidity down to 45-50% but the room got hot. If you are sensitive to smells or have allergies/asthma, it's a real issue. Otherwise, the rooms are dated but kept up very well and very clean and we found the beds comfortable. We would return if the rooms are renovated because the smell was too rough for us.
We though the food was great, especially the duck confit at the French restaurant and the grouper at the seafood restaurant. We also really loved the front lobby and the Coco Cafe, which is open 24/hours. The shows and activities all were fun....the singers and entertainers are really talented.
We did Preferred and it was very nice but we would have been just fine without it. I think the value would be mainly in access to sitting on the quiet sides of the pools and beach....and the Preferred sides are 100% quieter and more peaceful. The water on the preferred beach was full of seaweed when we were there so we always went to the non-preferred side anyway. Our butler was really helpful and nice.....all the staff was awesome. They seem to hire the best people.
The spa was beautiful. We made a reservation through an email offer from the resort and they did not have it on record when we got there. We ended up having to do a shorter treatment which was a bummer but it was very good.
If they renovate the rooms, we would love to return!

It’s been a few years since we’ve been to an all inclusive. We really enjoyed Secrets Cap Cana. We were in building 8, 6th floor which was a preferred ocean view room. We enjoyed having the additional options for the pool, beach area and restaurants. We loved the chilled out and friendly pool atmosphere - but had the option to go the main if we wanted to.
The staff are amazing no matter where you interacted with them. Too many to name - you are all appreciated.
What we loved:
- the table side margarita making in the Mexican restaurant
- no reservations needed except for the hibachi (note there are a few tables for walk in to eat off the main menu!)
- the cafe for after dinner coffee and a small desert (or morning coffee, milkshakes, small sandwiches…)
- the showers in the room - huge
- no need to be up at sunrise to play the towel game (at least in the preferred area)
- the drinks weren’t watered down like we’ve seen elsewhere
- buckets of bottled water brought to you at the pool and beach to stay hydrated
- the options at dinner for restaurants (note the buffet is not open for dinner)
- the Queen show was a hoot
The house wines could be improved. I like white wine and ended up sipping the rose (ok - could be better) or the sparkling instead.
Re the “vip coupon” stuff - They’ll give you coupons for the spa and bottles of wine and then will try to get you to breakfast the next morning to learn more about their resorts. They offered us a couples massage in exchange but we had no interest to listen to that on our first morning when we were just getting our bearings. (We did meet a few people who were members and they do love it.)
Tips
- if you can afford it, splurge on preferred
- I got bit a lot, but I never actually saw the insects, so bring an anti itch cream
- bring more sunscreen than you think as a precaution - the cost in the shop is around $40-50 USD for a bottle
- bring more $ for tips than you think - it is optional but goes a long way. There’s an ATM that dispenses Dominican currency - unfortunately we had to resort to that at the end and of course you get dinged with a zillion fees to boot
- if you are Canadian and booking with westjet vacations and staying in preferred room - add the indulgence package if it is still offered. It was so worth it - included seat selection (just call after booking), bottle of liquor in the room, discounts on excursions (we didn’t use) and the best part: access to the steam/sauna/water circuit which we should have used more

My partner and I stayed at Secrets Cap Cana last week and had a marvelous time. The food was excellent at every restaurant, the beach was warm and clean, I spent most of the time just floating on the Juanillo water and letting the stress of work and contemporary life melt away. Most importantly, the people were so friendly and accommodating.
Our concierge Jeison was highly attentive and helped us book pedicure, attend a sound bath activity on the beach, and get a 25-minute beachside massage. He would also send us daily updates of activities and events so we could plan our day accordingly. Our trip probably would’ve been a little less marvelous without his help.
The only thing I would change is the mattress in the bedroom: a little too firm for my taste. But otherwise, excellent excellent experience.

Been here for 12 nights and it was a wonderful experience. We were staying in the Preferred Ocean View all inclusive option, which was worth it for us.
Anibal was our Butler for most of the time we were there and he was brilliant and could not do enough for us.
The beach and pool staff were fantastic - especially Bioty and the other girls sorting drinks out for us, the pool team who sorted the leaves out after a storm and towels and the Rosewater staff at breakfast and lunch - especially Richal, Jesus, Enoc and the rest of the team - great service.
The beach staff were also excellent and the beach itself is beautiful and clean.
Coco Coffee shop was one of our favourite places to get good coffees and shakes with sandwiches and cakes. Again the staff were superb
The 6 night restaurants were generally good - only small niggles was the service at Seaside grill sometimes forgot the veg on the order and some added extra ingredients in dishes not required at Italian eg crackers on Caprese.
Rooms were lovely - but suggest wearing non slip shoes as I did slip on a wet patch in the bathroom area.
There were a couple of room issues, but they were sorted in the day and they were very clean due to great cleaning team.
The resort is beautiful and for the total package was on a par or better than some more expensive resorts we have stayed in.
Only request would be a switch on the ceiling fan for two speeds, as when it was on it was full force and a slower speed would have been good especially at night,
We would certainly consider coming back to this or another Secrets resort again

Returned this week from 13 nights at the resort .
Overall I thought the resort was excellent , superb staff and probably the best Caribbean hotel we have stayed in over the past 20 years .
We stayed initially in the Non - Preferred and Preferred for the last 5 days .
The first few days were very good apart from a large cockroach in our room on the second floor however after mentioning the hotel did a deep clean and fumigation. We were offered to change room but loved the view from block 2 down over the pools to the sea so stayed in room 2201 .
Lovely pools , beach etc , as walkers we found we could only really walk one way towards The Sanctuary resort and back was just over a mile in total . This was the only downside compared with Bavaro / Punta Cana where you can walk much further.
Food was generally pretty good , we tried all the restaurants. Probably the Mexican was our least favourite . All the others good , wine drinkable but not great unless you pay through the nose to upgrade . Not a patch on the IKOS all inclusive experiences in Europe when it comes to wine and food . Although Ikos is not adults only and is not in the Caribbean! Overall I thought for the Caribbean SCC was good on the food front .
Entertaining we saw was good , the Queen show being in my opinion the best .
Our huge gripe was after 2 days being overrun by a large convention of 500 ish people from Corpay. This changed the whole dynamic instead of couple and small groups of friend enjoying the hotel . You now had large groups getting drunk as quickly as possible , getting very loud , shouting , singing and being disrespectful to other guests . When we chose to go to SCC this is not what we were expecting to get or how the resort is portrayed . Some were unable to walk unaided as so drunk .
There were also some smaller company groups of around 30 - 80 people whilst we were there and they did not any issues .
We were upgrade to Preferred Club for our last 5 days and having experienced the improved facilities I would definitely recommend it , the pool area is lovely and Rosewater was excellent for breakfast and lunch . The staff including Kaila and Rigaburto were outstanding . If we were to visit again we would go preferred , not so much for the extras but to guarantee a haven to get away from the large groups should we be unlucky enough to time our visit with them again .
Without this I would have definitely given 5 stars , I feel the Secrets need to decide is this a romantic couples resort or a Buisness hotel .To pay premium prices and then have this happen is unacceptable.
One other points , if you do a bike ride , we found the bikes to be in poor condition and very uncomfortable.

We had the server Robert and he was so rude before we could even place an order we left. As soon as he came to the table (after we had waited for a long while) he was extremely rude. He first came to the table and asked me what I wanted to drink, I asked my wife what she wanted, and before she could say anything he quickly said “you figure it out and I will be back”, and walked away before she could say anything word. He came back to the table 10 minutes later and we ordered drinks, he immediately walked away after we placed our drink order and we wanted to also place our meal order. So I asked him to come back, when I did he was extremely rude and under his breath called me a “b*tch” in Spanish it n ow king I knew what he said. I immediately got up and said if that’s how we are going to be treated we will leave, he immediately apologized and asked why we were leaving and tried to block me from leaving. I love the resort and the Hibachi restaurant we went to after was awesome!! Robert on the other hand was absolutely terrible!! Also the table next to us asked him to get the manager because he was giving them terrible service too, and he said he is the manager!! I hope for the restaurants sake that was a lie

We'll break this down into the good and the bad categories:
GOOD: Absolutely gorgeous facility, awesome pool, great beach.
People working at the bars, restaurants, poolside, and beach are fantastic. Special thanks to Milly (Milagro) and Cesar.
The absolute BEST tasting hamburgers I've had in years.
Plenty of good restaurants for a stay of 5 nights or less, room service is top notch. Huge breakfast buffet.
Lots of music, loved the piano player in the pool.
Lively weekends for excitement, slower paced weekdays to relax.
BAD: The cost, too expensive to start, but anything else is WAY overpriced, from the gift shop and cigar store, but especially the spa.
Time share like pitches for/from the concierge, spa, etc.
Maintenance issues, water for bathtub stopped working twice, toilet leaked on floor, three potholes in pool gunite, sloppy painting.
Say they will prevent folks from poaching (or would squatting be a better descriptor) the pool and beach lounges with towels in the morning, and maybe showing up later, but the resort never enforces it.
Overall, a very good experience, would go back if the cost was 25% less.

2 years ago we got married at Secrets Cap Cana. We recently returned to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Everything that we loved about the resort first time around drew us back. We requested that we had the same butler again and our wish was granted. It was amazing to go back to see many of the wonder staff that made our wedding so incredible.
We love the nature of Dominican Republic people, they are genuinely the happiest, friendliest and eager to please people on the planet. Often you hear praise and comments towards bar staff, entertainment staff etc, but we would like to give a special mention to the management of the hotel. They are so professional and swift when dealing with guest queries and issues, these people listen !!! they are a credit to the hotel chain.
There are some members of the staff that we want to give special mention to, but all the staff are equally amazing. We are sorry if we missed anyone out in our mentions, Joan Pilier, thankyou so much for making our time with you perfect, you are a legend. Kisairo, what can we say, you went above and beyond, showing us the true Dominican nature, we will never forget your kindness.
We formed such great connections with staff all over the hotel, Keila and Rigoberto at the Rosewater Café, breakfast and lunch will never be the same without you. Augustine, Ronny and Jerry at the lobby bar, thankyou for hours of laughs and entertainment. Rigoberto, the manger at the Seaside Grill, OMG you made us feel like a king and queen.
We spend lots of time at the preferred beach, we had the pleasure of being looked after by Olga, Ambi and Zunhilda. These guys don’t just do their job, they add a little extra love to every drink. At the main pool bar, Patricia, Zunny and Rudi were the stars that lit up the sky. Esther at Coco Café makes the best special milkshakes, sprinkles with sunshine.
Lastly, we come to the entertainment staff. Diva, Rhianna, Minni & Beyoncé, no words can explain how loved these guys make you feel. I don’t think they realise how important they are in making people holidays the best they can be.
If all that was not enough, we made some life long connections with other guests. What more can you want from a holiday. We can not wait to go back again.
Lots of love Nick & Linda xxx

Great! We have been to many all inclusive over the years…all 4 and 5 star… without a doubt this AI tops them all. More than the great restaurants, beautiful beaches, spotless and perfect, the people…. The Dominican workers could not be better. In our time there we only encountered 1 server at the breakfast buffet without a smile and a happy, helpful and positive demeanor. Special shout out to our concierge Russel, Danny and Fernanda at Baracuda with fabulous drinks and service on the beach for our entire stay, Eddie at Seaside grill and Bordeaux restaurant(he was fabulous). Always remembering our name and all the little details. Hope we can come back soon! We had a great time thanks to you all!
