Stunning Beach, Private Paradise—But Not Quite 5-Star

My wife and I love beachfront villas with privacy, a heated pool, luxurious accommodations, and great service. We've stayed at top spots like Cheval Blanc in the Maldives, Rosewood in St. Barts, Banyan Tree and Rosewood in Mayakoba, Como Parrot Cay, Ambergris Cay, Jumby Bay in Antigua, and Ritz Reserve in Dorado, Puerto Rico. This time, we decided to try Sailrock in South Caicos. It was a mixed experience—breathtaking beach, complete privacy, and an incredible heated pool, but the accommodations and travel logistics left a lot to be desired.
Let’s start with the best part. The view from our villa was unreal—our private pool overlooked the Atlantic, and when the wind was calm, the scenery was stunning. The beach was a dream: two miles of soft sand, crystal-clear water, and absolutely no one else in sight. It felt like our own private island.
Now for the negatives:
Getting there was a hassle. The resort package includes flights from Providenciales, but the schedules didn’t match our international flights, so we booked a private charter through Sailrock. At $4,500 round trip for an 18-minute flight, I expected a seamless experience. Instead, we waited nearly two hours at a tiny, hot, unairconditioned terminal with no food or drinks. The plane itself was old, tiny, and felt thrown together. On the way back, again, they weren’t flexible with flight times, which was frustrating given the price.
While the beach near our villa was stunning and empty, there was no beach service—so we carried our own towels and drinks each day. Worse, the entire beach, while beautiful, was littered with plastic and seaweed that the resort never cleaned up. It was disappointing to see such a gorgeous stretch of sand not properly maintained.
The accommodations were the biggest letdown. The villa itself felt more like an old Hilton than a luxury resort. Cheap furniture, dim lighting, a low platform bed, weak water pressure, and a tiny bedroom TV with three remotes we couldn’t figure out. The A/C was a wall-mounted unit—not what you'd expect for the price. No hand shower, no slippers, and flimsy doors. The heated pool and view made up for it, but the rooms need serious upgrades to match the five-star price tag.
The resort’s other beach, on the calmer western side, had potential but felt more like a budget resort. Loud reggae music, plastic lounge chairs packed in rows, and attendants who wouldn’t move chairs without management approval. It was the opposite of luxury or relaxation.
A few highlights: Kiki, a manager, went out of her way to make us happy, and Chef Randy handled our dietary requests perfectly.
As a runner, I was hoping for good outdoor routes, but the area around the resort was all dirt roads with potholes, making running impossible. The small gym was fine, but I missed my outdoor runs.
Despite the negatives, we still had an amazing week because of the private beach, the pool, and the stunning setting. Would we go back? Yes, but only for the privacy and scenery—not for the accommodations. Sailrock has something special, but they need to step up their game to truly be a five-star resort.

Everything about our trip exceeded our expectations! The Sailrock staff makes sure that everything is taken care of for you from the moment they pick you up from the airport. Putra checked with us every morning at breakfast to see what our plans were, and if he needed to take care of anything for us. Trips to the gift shot were even a delight as we got to chat with Juni! Earl, Mario, Agus, and the rest of the food and beverage team were absolutely incredible… We did not choose this destination for the food, but we absolutely should have! Every single meal is top notch. We were excited every day to see what was on the dinner menu!! They were extremely accommodating with special requests as well! No reservations are ever necessary… You are completely relaxed and can dine whenever you are ready. I could go on and on- but this was a bucket list destination for us, that we now can’t wait to return to!

This was the MOST Magical and relaxing vacation of my life. We have been fortunate to stay in luxury hotels and resorts and SailRock stands above the rest. The tranquil location, the gorgeous design of the resort and the serene blue water are just a few highlights, but what sets this resort apart from other "luxury" resorts is the staff! The attention to detail was impeccable. Every staff member we came in contact with knew our name upon arrival and made sure our experience was nothing less than perfect.
I have never felt so relaxed on vacation and didn't feel once like we overpaid because we felt as if every cent we spent was appreciated and deserved.
We have had the opportunity to stay at Four Seasons, Ritz and Montage Resorts and SailRock made those resorts pale in comparison.
The BoneFishing excursion with Gee was one of the coolest experiences. You are literally walking in the Sea! Truly magical.
If you are thinking you want to experience the BEST of the island life and sit back and enjoy the nature and tranquility of the Turks & Caicos islands book this resort! Please tell Laverne, Mario, Delli, Juni, Agus, Earl, Katherine, Ricky, Jose', Echo, Dewi, Gee and the rest of the SailRock staff we said hello and we are working hard to come back!

This is the ultimate in a quiet and relaxing vacation. Secluded with a beautiful beach and stunning views wherever you look. No smokers or loud guests. This is an upscale vacation with those who need quiet away time. Not a family spot.

We just completed our second trip to Sailrock Resort and it was as amazing the second time as the first (2023). The property is incredible all around- views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean can be seen as you step into the Great House upon arrival. We stayed in a Ridgetop Suite with beautiful views of the Atlantic from our well appointed and spacious room. The service is so attentive and accommodating - starting with before we arrived and during every day of our trip! From the waiters, bartenders, front desk personnel, excursion coordinators - everyone is so helpful, friendly (even greeting us by name) and really striving to accommodate our every need or wish. Sailrock has one of the very best beaches we have ever seen - the water on the Caribbean beach side is so blue, clear and calm. This resort offers the most relaxing setting - we cannot wait to return again!

If you want relaxing, peaceful and wonderful service, you must visit Sailrock!! From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a special vacation. I want to thank Putra who made sure we were well informed, Karyl Anne and Earl who made every meal unforgettable, Juni in the market who always called us by name and had a lovely sense of humor! Ashley and Delly at the front desk were amazing and quite helpful. Ricky, who set us up at the beach and Katherine who served us daily at The Cove. I know there were others including the ladies who brought us treats, water bottles and extra towels every night. The Great House menu does change nightly for dinner, which was a big plus and the breakfast is absolutely delicious!! Thank you chefs!! We kayaked, biked and did a lot of walking but the best part is sitting on the beach and looking at the most beautiful turquoise water you will ever see! Trust me, you will not be disappointed! My husband and I will be back!!

I cannot say enough about our stay at Sailrock. We were so warmly welcomed the moment we arrived at the airport and that continued our entire stay. The staff knew us by name and went above and beyond! Starting with Leny who didn't stop working until we had our luggage (it did not make our connecting flight in Toronto) to Roberto who made sure each dining experience was the best and there were so many others! There were special touches all week that made our stay unforgettable. Make sure you have some banana bread if you can, it's simply the best!

Our stay at Sailrock was as close to perfection as one could get. The staff is so friendly and pay attention to every detail. From our beachfront Villa, to the beach at the Cove, all the details were taken care of. A special thanks to our waiter Roberto who made sure all of needs were taken care of, including special desserts (fresh baked banana bread with caramel sauce). The bartenders, August and Mario who made the best drinks. Putra, who took care of all the details and made sure we were well informed. Leny, who worked tirelessly trying to locate our bags that the airline lost and made sure we did not stress about it. The kind ladies who provided room service every day and left special treats for us. (sorry ladies I can not remember your names). Every single staff person made this trip so special. Sailrock is truly a special place and would highly recommend staying there if you visit Turks and Caicos!

Sailrock Resort is the definition of paradise. Because it is smaller in terms of number of guests, the staff are able to give each guest an exceptional experience. Their attention to every detail is amazing! Thank you Sailrock for the memories ❤️
The stay was absolutely perfect! Everyone here was so kind and welcoming. Food was amazing, excursions was amazing, our suite was amazing. The staff was so helpful to whatever we needed . It included free breakfast. We did a sunset boat ride, atv ride, massages and everything was just perfect.

Where to begin! We’ve had several vacations in multiple parts of the Caribbean, however, sale rock in South Caicos was by far the most incredible trip. It is essentially a boutique resort on what truly feels like a secluded private island, especially in one of the peninsula villas. The natural beauty and serenity is just incredible. Over just a couple of days, you get to know the overwhelmingly, friendly and accommodating staff. Harvey and his team go out of their wayto see to it. You have the most memorable time there. I cannot speak highly enough of this resort.

Absolutely hands down the most tranquil place I have ever been. If you are looking for perfection this is it! Started off in Provo and was transported by a small plane to this hidden gem. The island is small and the people are amazing. We were picked up by a kind man in a very nice clean air conditioned shuttle. When we arrived we were greeted with welcome drinks and a tour of the stunning resort. Our room had beautiful unobstructed views a beautiful outdoor bath and shower and private front and rear decks. The beds are comfortable and the linens are glowing white. The room was cleaned to perfection and the turn down service was great with yummy sweet treats everyday wrapped with a local touch. The staff all remember our names. Karyle in the restaurant was stellar she served with grace kindness and a huge smile. Ricky taught us the hobie cat and we were able the sail solo throughout our stay. We paddled boarded around saw turtles sting rays small lemon sharks and tons of reef fish. The pickle ball courts are beautiful and perfectly maintained. Putra made everyday perfect and even found a way to make our unusual requests were met. Ruperto makes the best Dominican old fashions you'll ever experience with a friendly laugh you won't forget. We flats fished wish G man and got lucky. If you are seeking privacy and luxury this is your place. Lastly the guests we made life long friends that made on trip one to remember.

From the moment we arrived at SailRock Resort, we knew we were in for something special. This resort is nestled on the beautiful shores of Turks & Caicos and not only offers a great place to stay, but an unforgettable experience. And it’s all thanks to the exceptional staff who go above and beyond to make every moment magical!
My husband and I stayed here last week for our Honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The resort itself is stunning – sparkling turquoise waters, pristine landscaping, and luxurious accommodations that are both spacious and elegant. But what truly set this place apart from other resorts and vacations we’ve done is the hospitality. The staff is an absolute dream—friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive without being intrusive.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival with a refreshing welcome drink (Blue Ocean – that we continued to order the entire week!) and a smooth check-in process. The concierge team took the time to explain all the resort amenities and personalized recommendations, ensuring we didn’t miss out on any of the unique experiences this island had to offer.
Throughout our stay, it felt like the staff was always one step ahead, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Whether it was the housekeeping team who kept our room tidy with little thoughtful touches (like little desserts left in our room each night) or Putra helping us our entire stay with excursions, recommendations, and just being a great resource for anything we needed during our stay. A special shout-out to Chef Mario– Each meal was absolutely divine! My husband and I both agreed every breakfast, lunch, and dinner were delicious – from the fresh seafood at dinner to the wide array of lunch and breakfast dishes – every bite was delightful!! We did a private chef dinner one evening with Chef Mario which we’re still talking about!! He allowed us to curate our own menu which we chose to do a surf & turf (lobster and filet) with risotto and veggies along with a ahi tuna salad to start. It was FABULOUS! Additionally, the servers are so warm and personal – we had Ruperto serve us most of our meals and by the end of the trip we felt like we were dining with a friend rather than a hotel. He has such a kind heart and soul!
For anyone seeking adventure, the resort offers a wide variety of activities, from snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, to boating excursions and atv tours. We took an ATV tour around the island with staff member, Ben, who was an incredible guide and was not only knowledgeable about the local marine life, but also genuinely passionate about the island and the future growth of the island.
What really made our experience stand out though was the genuine care and kindness of the staff. On our last day, they all stood outside and waived goodbye to us as we departed! We couldn’t help but smile knowing we were leaving with amazing memories from our honeymoon, but also a token of the island’s hospitality. If you’re looking for a getaway with a personal touch, I can’t recommend SailRock highly enough! The resort itself is high-class, but it’s people make it truly fabulous. We can’t wait to return!

Husband and I spent 4 nights at Sailrock and loved every minute of it! The resort is beautiful and clean, the restaurants served delicious food and drinks (although pricey!), the beach and cove were absolutely gorgeous with the most crystal clear water we've ever experienced, and finally the service and staff was like none other. Professional and friendly everywhere we went. We had the unique opportunity to be there during low season when they are typically closed (I believe they are trying to remain open year-round going forward) and because of this there were very few other guests. We practically had the place to ourselves.
While there we went on the kayaking trip to a sandbar, my husband went on a fishing excursion (which was fly-fishing for bonefish), and we went on the ATV tour. All good times!
If you are looking for peace, tranquility, good service with a boutique-type resort - don't hesitate to book Sailrock! We will be back!

Andre and Kiki were truly outstanding and their staff members were the highlight of our stay. We had a 3 bedroom villa with views of the ocean right past our covered lanai and private heated pool.
The protected cove on the other side of the property was a recreation lovers paradise. Lounge chairs, beach bars, warm turquoise waters with suspended net floats. Catamarans , paddle boards and kayaks at your disposal all day.
Everything you could want was at your convenience. The staff… and I don’t know all of their names, Karley, Sher, Roberto, Kathy, Mario…I wish I could name everyone appropriately. They were the friendliest staff I have ever encountered anywhere!
If I get the chance to return I will in a heartbeat!

We had an amazing time. We did take the new Miami flight and was so easy. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in a one bedroom villa for 10 days. It was super private and peaceful. A few things to note that the resort is on a peninsula which the villa and rooms are on one side and the beach and Cove are on the other side. We were not aware of that. It was super windy on the sound side which is the villa side so we could hardly use the pool. Of course this is not the resorts problem but just to point out. Our villa did have a washer and dryer however I wish we had know before and we could have packed lighter and brought detergent. We did think it was also strange that could not walk from our villa to the beach. We asked about moving to a villa that we could and we were told that we could not. The resort was not full so I thought that was strange. The check in process was also odd in that we were walked to the villa and never explained anything about how to get lunch, call a buggy. We had traveled all day and we were hungry for lunch so it was an exhausting start trying to figure out how to get lunch and where to go, who to call. The first few hours we were not happy.
Oddly, the resort did have a loss of power the first time two hours and the second time for just a few minutes. I did think that during the first power outage during dinner, the manager should have been checking on guests that were still in the rooms or villas. With the power outage you had no way to get a ride to the Cove for dinner, call for room service and we had no lights other than our phones. However, we noticed the manager was having dinner with business partners. I feel like the resort should have def checked on guests during that time.
We did enjoy the variety of the menu that changed daily for dinner. Another thing to point out which I hope the resort reads in this post is that beach service is non-existent. They are totally missing out on money with service of drinks and food to the beach. They have one person working the beach towel service area and never comes to check on you and offer you to purchase anything else during the day. You could put flags on the chairs when you are ready to order or need service. The other person is lazy and is irritated when you walk up and need a beach chair and towels. I would change this policy and get some help at the beach. You are missing out on big money.
We did the meal plan because we were staying for 10 days and didn't know what to expect to pay for prices and taxes associated with the resort. I did think that with what we paid we should have been able to order any drinks that were on the menu without any extra fees. We had emailed the resort prior to arriving about but groceries for the villa and were told the resort had certain items however upon arrival we were told they did NOT have them. This was a little irritating as we would have packed and planned to bring those items. Communication is def not clear.
I do think we will consider returning however I think things should be fixed to make this a five star property.

We stayed 3 nights but wished it could have been longer. This is a beautiful property and the staff are are all top notch. I was lucky enough to have one of the villas. I didn't want to leave. They are very large and the private pool was so great. The water was warm (they can change the temperature) but it made it so nice to sit in and watch the stars at night. So many stars and such a memory. You can get to the beach from villa down a sandy hill. You also have the the cove which they can take you in the buggy's if you don't want to walk. Outdoor shower is nice but lots of mosquitos so be aware. The food was good and lots of choices. Only issue was when they did the beach night and they had too many people at once and it took long time for food to arrive. Otherwise all was great. The massages, ATV tours and cocktail class are all really good. If you want a relaxing vacation or something with activities this is for you. I would come back in a heartbeat.
