Reviews of Saga Hotel Oslo
A wonderful hotel in a great location. It’s immaculately clean and all of the staff are wonderfully welcoming. We enjoyed an absolutely faultless 3 night stay. The breakfast was delicious and our room was comfortable.
Will definitely be back!
Yes, yes indeed a good place to stay!

Not exactly in the middle of "old Christiania" and downtown hustle and bustle. But fairly close to most things you want to see and do as a tourist and/or occasional visitor.
Saga resides in Uranienborg, near the Uranienborg church, a bit up-hill from down town and in a primarily residential area.
The Royal Castle Park is about a 5 minute walk away. And down town center another 5-10 minutes by foot.
If you not fancy walking the tram and bus network is extensive in Oslo. No problem getting around.
Usually I'm not so fond of "boutique" hotels, but Saga is in no way overdriven with peculiar decorations, weird interior or strange mishaps supposed to be "cool".
It's elegant. It's quiet. It's relaxing.
The official three star classification (if I got i right), is in my opinion clearly four stars.
Slick public areas with reception/lounge made for gathering or casual meetings.
Rooms very fine. We had an airy corner room where there was plenty of light.
Bathroom of high standard. Mini bar (expensive of course - this is Norway) and fully satisfactory amenities.
Not many hotel beds you can remember sleeping exceptionally well in - can you?
Well, Saga's beds will remain in my memory. Extremely comfortable! Lovely pillows.
Best sleep in a hotel I've had for years. Truly.
And it is sooo quiet!
Breakfast is downstairs in the basement. A bit gloomy environment, but that is well compensated for by the very good breakfast presented. Small scale and well maintained. A lot of choices. None will leave hungry.
Staff kind and attentive.
By Norwegian monetary standards, Saga is affordable.
Highly recommended!

Friendliest and helpful team

This hotel should win an award for the friendliest and most helpful team sprinkled with a sense of humour. My urgent request for a taxi to the Munch Museum was met with the news that the museum was closed for the week (it wasn’t). That made me chuckle. Rooms are nice and modern and the location is fabulous, just behind the Palace and also home to some wonderful real estate including a number of consulates.

Just spent 5 nights at the Saga Hotel in Oslo and had a fantastic time. The room was a good size, definitely not cramped, and had everything we needed - a TV, a little fridge stocked with drinks (perfect for those evenings in!), and even a Nespresso machine for that morning caffeine kick. The bathroom was a highlight - the floor heating was amazing, especially after a cold day exploring the city.
The staff at the Saga Hotel were absolute stars. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and super helpful, answering all our questions and giving recommendations for things to see and do. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was delicious! Fresh food, plenty of variety, and a great way to start the day.
The hotel also has a locker room where we were able to leave our luggage after check-out, which was a lifesaver as our flight wasn't until the evening. Overall, a brilliant stay at the Saga Hotel - would definitely recommend it!

This is a lovely hotel to stay in Oslo. Slightly outside the centre but a nice walk through a safe area. Also very close to trams if you prefer. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Amazing breakfast, lots of lovely choice and some different items daily. Room was good size, well appointed and clean. Ensuite shower cubicle was small, but was the only downside. Very nice takeaway breakfast provided for early departure too.

If you want the feel of an Oslo neighborhood, then this is a great hotel. It is somewhat close to the University of Oslo, and a lot of students live in the neighborhood which gives it a lively feel, but also not overly touristic feel. It is a European hotel which means that the beds are made with bottom sheet and duvet cover (something I like) and most of the fellow travelers are not American (something I also like). The front desk was very helpful in buying the Oslo pass & the breakfast has a lot of what Norwegians eat for breakfast.

My husband and I just took an epic Scandinavian vacation. It started in Oslo, and though we had been there once before, I decided I wanted to try a different hotel in another part of town. We chose the Saga Hotel Oslo.
We were warmly greeted on an unusually warm Oslo evening, and given a corner room on the third floor. The room was big enough, but it lacked air conditioning. Most of the time in Oslo, this is not a big deal. However, it would have been useful to have it during our two night stay, as it was pretty warm when we visited.
We had to choose between leaving the window open at night for cool air flow and listening to the partying neighbors across the street, or closing the window for quiet, but sweating a bit. We ended up closing the window and opening it in the wee hours of the morning.
The staff was pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed the one breakfast we had. I especially liked the carrot cake at breakfast. It was delicious.
The bathroom was very small and quite basic, with shower doors that collapse into the shower stall and only a communal toiletry mounted on the wall-- combo shower gel and shampoo. But the hotel offers easy cab orders and laundry service, and there is even a bar area in the lobby.
The hotel is in a residential area, but there are also restaurants and shops nearby. We were able to walk to Akers Brygge with no problems. All in all, it was a pretty good stay. But if I visited again, I would go when the weather is cooler.

The Saga was the perfect choice for our visit to Oslo. Our room was comfortable, clean, attractive, and quiet. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast is included and is wonderful. Perhaps the best thing about the Saga is the location. It is in a much calmer setting than the city center, but easily accessible to everything. We walked to most places. It is a two block walk to access Oslo’s fantastic transit system. Great connection to local attractions and the airport.
