The problem with the balcony is that the water does not drain when it rains and you cannot go out to the balcony. If you go on the weekend, the pool has many guests and you cannot enjoy it.

Bit of a walk to the Old Town, however you can catch taxi or bus N°4 nearby to the hotel. Would recommend this hotel!

Really lovely hotel with a great bar, pool area and the breakfast choice was excellent, although service was a bit slow at times. Our room could have been better with regards to the concrete balcony but the view was great. The hotel is a good 20-30 minute walk into Dubrovnik but we didn’t mind that, we mainly walked but easily got a taxi a couple of times. All in all a very enjoyable stay & I would recommend if you don’t want to stay in the middle of Dubrovnik.

We spent 5 unforgettable nights in Rixos in November. Hotel is located close to most of city attractions- only 15 minutes walk to the Old Town. From the moment we entered the hotel until the end of our stay, all staff members were so helpful and kind to us, and really made us feel special.
We had breakfast in hotel every morning, and food was delicious with variety of choices.
Our room was on 11th floor, it was spacious and spotless -with the most comfortable bed and huge terrace overlooking the Adriatic.
Housekeeping staff was very attentive, and ensured all our requests are taken care off quickly. Our room was cleaned daily to the highest standard. Thank you Myroslava and Tatyana.
We are planning to visit Dubrovnik again in July and we will stay in Rixos. Looking forward to it.

Started well from the beginning having had an early start with a flight at 6.00am we were allowed into our room straight away.... makes such a difference and you get the impression from some hotels that they deliberately make you wait. Service was always first class, rooms were very comfortable and the cleanliness was first class.

Chef Luigi and his colleague from Turkey did an excellent job in the kitchen. The housekeeping staff is very pleasant. The hotel facilities cater to everyone. A big recommendation for this hotel. Special thanks to the reception managers for the upgrade to a superior room.
Thank you very much, Tarik and Hinda.

Quite how this hotel is classed as 5 star is beyond me, most definitely the worst hotel I have ever been to, and that includes Travelodges!
- The place was a building site, noise coming from all angles.
- The spa is extremely unhygienic, went once, really horrible experience.
- The indoor pool is disgusting, mould all over the place.
- The hotel smells of smoke everywhere (I'm assuming smoking indoors is still legal in Croatia.
- The food is greasy, how do so many reviewers think this breakfast is good!?
- Evening meals are pretty much the same every night, really poor drinks selection.
- The staff did not care about the state the hotel was in.
- The location was poor, really dangerous walk to the old town down narrow paths with buses speeding past.
- Virtually no furniture on the balcony, don't bother upgrading to a sea view.
- No privacy on the balcony, you're neighbours will be looking straight in to your room if they are using their balcony.
- Smoke alarms just hanging down by their wires everywhere.
Overall, an awful experience that we will not be repeating, certainly will be steering clear of any RIXOS Hotel in future. The Old Town in Dubrovnik is lovely though, just make sure you stay somewhere else!

Noisy building works and guest safety risk experienced

Having been recommended the Rixos by a friend, we departed our usual Ikos and Hilton staple and gave their Dubrovnik hotel a try.
The hotel is stunning as you pull-up, speedy and friendly check in process with a short personal tour of the facilities before being shown to your room.
Initially we were very content with the hotel, including it's well formed bedroom, modern style and beautiful vista enjoyed from our balcony and hotels sundeck.
However there were some glaring failures that in our opinion meant the hotel did not feel safe or fit for use for the time of our stay.
The pool area is undergoing major refurbishment, meaning half is screened off by positioned parasols whilst heavy building works go on the other side.
The remaining area is small, noisy with drilling, sticky decks (from drying varnish) with exposed wires, lacks any food or drink and has the most uncomfortable wooden loungers I've ever tried to use that are missing any form of mattress. Not sure I've mentioned the building noise - it was horrendous.
In 20°C+ heat we felt forced to retire to the muggy indoor pool with it's non-functioning jacuzzi and loud kids splashing about - Not the sun soaked relaxing experience you'd aim for when on a springtime mini break.
This is all minor when compared to the largest issue at the Rixos Dubrovnik - Safety.
The main open plan staircase in the centre of the hotel (and main fire escape) was being used for heavy storage with piles of wooden furniture at the bottom, and intermittent floors stacked literally floor to ceiling (rammed up to the switched-on ceiling lights) with new cushions (photos attached).
Should there be a fire in the hotel we would have had no means of escape!
I did report this to the hotel on our first day, (who were very understanding who offered a change of room (the room was not an issue) or a complementary meal as a thank you), but didn't immediately act on the issue (two days for the wooden furniture, cushions remained when we left).
If you have ever witnessed a fire take hold and how dangerous this is for those trapped and you will understand how treacherous using a fire escape as a store area is. We literally didn't feel safe at the Rixos going to bed.
To be objective, the staff are friendly, rooms well kept, food acceptable, a good range of drinks if not overpriced (basic drinks are three times more expensive than bars in the surrounding neighbourhood).
However for a prodigious five star hotel, and one still charging full fare for a sub-standard product that puts its guests at risk, what we found during our stay is simply unacceptable and the hotel shouldn't be open during this time.

You will not find a better hotel than the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik. It’s in the name, Premium! My girlfriend and I simply cannot fault the hotel, nor any of the staff than run it so beautifully well. You are treated like royalty as soon as you step out of your taxi and greeted by their staff who take your bags for you. You are met with a complimentary glass of champagne on your arrival and when you walk in past the lobby and gaze out their floor to ceiling windows, you are greeted with the spectacular view of the Adriatic Sea and the coast of Dubrovnik. It was such a special place for us that we are booking to go again next year!
The rooms were immaculate and well maintained, the staff and service were second to none and the facilities were unbelievable! I’ve never felt so relaxed before when I used the spa at the hotel and I really did admire all the fine little touches that went into everything such as the candles dotted about and the fresh smelling towels.
If you are looking for a hotel that’s close to the old town and has that class of luxury for a decent price, then the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik is the only hotel I would ever recommend!

We have just returned from a wonderful week staying at the Rixos. On arrival we were greeted by very pleasant staff and upgraded to a superior room with a sea view- such a lovely surprise. Following a glass of champagne, we entered our room and another lovely surprise greeted us- a bottle of sparkling wine and a birthday cake for my husband’s birthday.
We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast was superb with a huge range of food available. Champagne and a piano player created a wonderful ambience.
The hotel is within walking distance to the old city although the bus service is also very good- the buses are driven very fast though so be prepared!
We used the hotel spa and swimming pool most days. Very relaxing after so much walking and very peaceful.
We only ate a couple of times at the hotel in the evening- the meals are expensive and so are the drinks- possibly due to the hotel being 5 star.
We would like to thank the Rixos for such an enjoyable stay. We would definitely return.
Just a note to fellow travellers: the lift system takes a bit of practice to master!
