The Pan Pacific is in a superb location on Vancouver’s stunning waterfront. We’re here for 2 nights (Friday/Saturday in January) to celebrate a birthday. To say we were underwhelmed with the check-in experience yesterday would be an understatement. We waited in the registration lineup for 20 minutes while ONE clerk checked in another couple. We finally got to the desk only to be told their “system is down” so they are unable to check us in. Ok, stuff happens. They took our cell number, stored our bags, and we went to the bar for a drink. No phone call came. We were in the bar over an hour before my husband went back to the registration lineup again. There were NINE people ahead of him. One poor clerk still attempting to check people in or explain why he couldn’t. Where on earth was a manager?! No one came to explain to the lineup what was happening. Inexcusable in a 5 star hotel. My husband finally got his turn at the desk for the second time only to be told that now there was a key problem - no keys were working (more of the system failure presumably.) And still NO manager anywhere! They took our cell number again and we went for a walk. We were supposed to be meeting people at a bar on Georgia for drinks at 6 and we did not get into our room until almost 5:30. We never did get a call on the cell. We never did get an apology from management. The poor clerk was on his own! Ridiculous! Once checked in, our room on the 16th floor is very nice, beautiful view of Coal Harbour, etc. But our wifi didn’t work, again probably due to the earlier “system failure” so back to the front desk again to sort that out. The whole process of getting into the room was unnecessarily stressful because of the lack of management. This really tainted our stay unfortunately. Systems crash occasionally (although never in our experience at a hotel of this supposed calibre) and everyone can understand that but the lack of management and the callous way guests were virtually ignored yesterday has really left a bad taste. I believe we would have had more attentive service at a Motel 6. There are many, many other options for good hotels in Vancouver. We would like to hear from a manager before we’d ever try the Pan Pacific again.

We stayed at Pan Pacific for one night to celebrate our anniversary. This is a solid hotel, in an excellent location. We had a room with a harbour view, which was really nice. The room is spacious and it has everything you need: mini fridge, coffee maker, bath robes, ironing board, etc. They sent us a beautiful and delicious dessert to celebrate our anniversary, which was a very nice touch.
Overall it was a nice stay, but I expected a little more from a “famous” and relatively expensive hotel like Pan Pacific. Bathroom could have some toiletries like cotton swabs and makeup remover. Check in was Ok, but lacked some information that we had to figure out later. Parking is INSANELY expensive, we had to park at a public parking close by. They are pet friendly and charge a pet fee like most hotels, but they didn’t offer anything to my dog, most hotels give you some treats, waste bags and ask if you need any bowls.
I enjoyed my stay, but I don’t know if I would stay again.

On our many visits to Vancouver I have always wanted to stay here. Having booked this hotel for my visit this time I hoped the hotel would live up to my expectation, unfortunately it did not.
On arrival for checkin we were told we would not be able to check in as there was a problem with the IT system, this explained the many people sitting in the lobby with their suit cases. No timescale was given so after 20 minutes I asked if they could check in my luggage so we could go out exploring. This was facilitated but why had the reception team not offered this or even a coffee in the bar whilst we waited.
On our first morning there was no host to the breakfast service which led to a queue building up waiting to be seated. We waited about 10-15 mins to be seated, with no apology given. Once in the restaurant our server Julie was amazing.
On our last night we had no water in our room. At no point were we offered bottled water in our rooms or wipes to clean our hands & we were unable to flush our toilet. Reception were unhelpful when we called for an update & not once were we asked if we were ok or if we needed anything, not even an apology when we checked out.
This is a lovely hotel with excellent facilities, & we were very grateful for our room upgrade, our room was amazing . We experienced some great staff with wonderful customer experience (especially the ladies who looked after our room) however the communication from reception & senior team members was unfortunately lacking. I am sad that the hotel did not deliver the experience I had hoped for.

The doormen were very helpful answering questions. They helped us with parking advice and even found me a chocolate bar in the wee hours of the morning when I was hungry. Our room was extremely nice with a wonderful view from the 18th floor. The interior common spaces of the hotel are magnificent. We definitely look forward to returning to the Pan Pacific Hotel.
