We spent five days at the Palacio de los Duques. The hotel provided us with an exceptional experience. We stayed in a Red Level junior suite with terrace. The suite was spacious and beautifully decorated.
The Red Level services were outstanding. Everything from check-in to the daily breakfast in the Red Level lounge were excellent. Christina, in the Red Level lounge, handled our arrival and check-in and helped us with dinner reservations several times during our stay. We really appreciated her help. The front desk staff and the doormen were all very welcoming and helpful.
I noted that some Tripadvisor reviews questioned the value. I thought compared to other top luxury hotels in Madrid (the Four Seasons, the Villa Magna) that the Palacio de los Duques was very reasonably priced. Given the quality of the room and the level of service provided, it seems like a real bargain.

The hotel was outstanding from all the perspectives: perfect location, extremely friendly staff, full black-out shading and both restaurants were excellent. The interior design was outstanding through out the whole hotel. We haven’t tried the spa and other facilities but based on the overall experience I have no doubt…

We chose Palacio de los Duques for a celebratory trip because of the excellent reviews. It did not disappoint. Convenient location within walking distance to many attractions, including the royal palace. Beautiful hotel with elegant furnishings, and our room was spacious and comfortable. What made it most memorable was the staff - welcoming, engaging, eager to assist - especially Guillermo, Pilar and Jordan at the Red Level lounge, bell staff and the manager Valentina. We really enjoyed Madrid; our four-day visit was not enough. We plan to come back. Of course, we’ll stay here again!

Amazing hospitality at the best location imaginable. It's an experience!
The staff is just wonderfull. You feel welcome from the moment you step foot in the doorway.
The room was amazing. We had a superior room overlooking the garden. At night we would open the windows for cool city air, and no city sounds would keep us up.
The breakfast buffet is unlike any other. A lót of healthy options, and a nice treat is you can order one item a la carte, which is a (very) nice bonus. There's lot's of tasty options, eggs the way you wish them, smoothies, pancakes and pies.
And then the location.. it's just perfect. At the end of the street is the Royal Palace, and surrounding it there are many great parks with some great sights. But walk the same distance in the other direction and you'll find a subwaystation to connect you to the entire city.
I would like to say something negative so this whole text wouldn't seem like an advertisement, but really.. I've got nothing. We had an amazing time and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's in for a treat.

We had a fabulous few days here, the hotel decor was great, the room was spacious and the bed was huge and extremely comfortable . Everywhere was immaculate.
There was a bath and a shower in the large bathroom , which perfectly suits my husband and I as he likes baths and I like showers.
The breakfasts were delicious , and very relaxing with a guitarist playing live on Saturday and Sunday.
The hotel is in a quiet road but very central ,so walking and getting the Metro or train was easy.
The feather in the cap of this hotel is the staff - they were exceptional , every single one was helpful, friendly , polite, and couldn't do enough for us. Everything was done with a smile, they were all charming, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Highly recommend.

Super staff and great room
Great location near the Royal Palace and Opera house. Large courtyard garden at the rear. Our room was spacious with bath and walk in rain shower and nicely furnished. Excellent friendly staff and great buffet breakfast. Bar drinks reasonably priced for a 5 * hotel. Overall a great stay.

I just spent two unforgettable days at this Meliá, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the Red Level team ensured everything was absolutely perfect.
I was there to celebrate my anniversary, and to my surprise, I found a beautiful arrangement of chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of cava waiting in the room. This thoughtful and unexpected gesture truly made the occasion unforgettable.
The hotel itself is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the exceptional staff, especially the Red Level team and Cristina, whose attention to detail and care made our stay extraordinary.
I can’t wait to return. Thank you for making our celebration so special!

We stayed at this hotel in March and it is truly a 5-star experience. Our check in was smooth and we went right to our room. The room was massive and spotless. One of the best beds ever, two televisions, fully stocked bar, workstation, huge bathroom with tub and rain shower.
The hotel is just beautiful with marble everywhere along with art work. A great roof top pool and lounge area. We upgraded to the Red Club and it was well worth it as all alcohol and food are included - a great place to unwind after a long day. Highly recommend staying at this luxury hotel.

A wonderful hotel and experience
What a wonderful hotel. Small enough to feel personal yet they had everything needed. The staff was awesome. Great location and loaded with history. While we only had breakfast at the hotel it was also great with lots of choices. We highly recommend this property!

Fantastic historic hotel located very close to the National Palace and gardens. Retaining the historical aspect of the former ducal palace and incorporating modern touches and conveniences made the Palacio an enjoyable interesting place to stay. Do keep in mind that since it is a former historic building, there are some quirkiness to how the rooms and hallways are laid out. Be sure to visit the beautiful large private garden in the back to have a drink. I learned too late that there was a rooftop also available.

During our recent stay at the Palacio de los Duques Meliá Hotel in Madrid, we had the absolute pleasure of being cared for by Paula Garcia, one of the finest concierges we’ve ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel genuinely welcome, with a warmth and elegance that instantly elevated our experience.
Her professionalism, impeccable English, and graceful demeanor were matched by a truly kind and friendly nature. She helped us get our tours seamlessly booked, offered thoughtful and tailored recommendations, and consistently went the extra mile to ensure everything was perfect. Every interaction with her felt sincere and effortless — a true testament to her dedication and love for what she does.
What made her stand out even more was her personal touch. Knowing we were continuing on to Palma de Mallorca, her hometown, she shared wonderful insider tips and local recommendations that made our time there even more meaningful and special.
She is a true gem — classy, sweet, intuitive, and completely professional. Thanks to Paula Garcia, our stay in Madrid was not only smooth and enjoyable but unforgettable. She is an extraordinary representative of the Meliá brand, and we feel lucky to have crossed paths with her.

This is the most luxurious hotel we have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect from the room to the staff to the location. Get a Red Level room if you can afford it. Our room had two large screen TVs, a huge entryway, double sinks in the bath, and a huge wet room with shower and tub. The Red Level Lounge was always well stocked with sweets, savory snacks, and a wide variety of free liquors. A guitarist provided the perfect mood for a pleasant breakfast. We stayed here for our 49th wedding anniversary, which made the stay extra special.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our Scenic Tour of Portugal & Spain. A beautiful hotel, very well located, with excellent staff and services.
They have a lovely lounge area, great rooftop bar & pool area and a very nice dining & terrace area. The food and service for breakfast and dinner was excellent. Great menu and nice choice of local beverages.
The only downside for us was our room ( 232 ). It was very small. It only had 1 chair for 2 people in a twin room. Also, housekeeping did not make up our room til after 2.00pm each day. On both occasions we had to request it be made up at the front desk. They apologised stating that the rooms are usually made up by midday each day.
Our room was very clean, delightful bed and a large bathroom with double sink. Shower is in a bathtub; a little risky for seniors like us who have had knee & hip surgeries.
Highly recommend this hotel. We will stay here again, but will seek a more suitable room at check in, next time.

The hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels we've stayed at. The staff was amazing - everyone was so helpful. We can't say enough good things about the hotel staff.
We loved the location of the hotel - it is so central to many wonderful neighborhoods.
We thought the room was so unique (as was most of the hotel) and the bed was so comfortable.
We did have a few complaints. As other reviewers have stated - we found the shower design to be absurd. The way it was set up with the tub - you had absolutely no room to stand and be directly under the shower head. I appreciate that with the old hotel structure they were probably limited with the size - but it was a laughable design. We found using the shower to be a ridiculous exercise.
We found the gym to be one of the worst we've seen at a hotel - it was so cramped and small that if there were more than 2 people you almost had no room to workout. There must be bigger rooms in the hotel that could be implemented for the gym - why they don't do this is a mystery.
Finally, the pool was surrounding chairs were much too limited for a large hotel. We tried several times to enjoy the pool during our 3 day stay, and not once were we able to get chairs.

Amazing stay at Palacio de los Duques
5/5 excellent stay. Hotel and staff exceeded expectations. Red level is worth the extra cost - food was delicious, room was spacious, and everyone was so attentive and helpful (Cristina was the best).
