Just returned home after a 4 week stay. The Hotel is in a great location, on the front with a 5-10 minute walk to the Marina.
We found the rooms clean & adequate but dated (the Hotel is closing Nov-March 2025 for refurbishment.
The staff at the hotel are excellent and also the food, lots of choice. Towards the end of our stay the Hotel filled up and at times the dining room resembled a busy works canteen. As mentioned the entertainment is hit & miss and does appeal to the older generation.
The a La carte restaurant which can be booked any number of times is a small separate room off the main dining room. We had an unpleasant experience on Valentines evening when 2 young Spanish couples entered from the outside bar entrance, were greeted by staff who knew them (they were not staying at the hotel). They spoke continuously on FaceTime at full volume whilst eating (cramming food into their mouths) causing us to leave half way through our meal. We informed the Hotel Manager who gave us no feedback over the further 3 week stay.
Dress code for Dinner *There is a dress code for Gents*
Gents you CAN wear to dinner the following……hats & caps of any description (bb cap preferred with peak worn to the rear). Football shirts, tracksuit bottoms, shell suits, jeans (ripped), hiking trousers with hiking boots and full rucksack on back. Trainers, sandals, crocks and flip flops.
Gents you CANNOT wear to Dinner….Tailored formal dress shorts to the knee with leather formal boating shoes. I know this may sound strange but you will be asked not to attend in the future dressed in this manner.
Ladies you can wear the above…..it would appear you can wear anything including gym gear.
Don’t get me wrong the a la carte incident may have been a one off, the dress code for dinner….perhaps we expect too much because we enjoyed our stay.
We have just turned 60yrs and we found ourselves to be one of the younger couples at this early time of the year so bare this in mind.
We probably will return in a few years time to see how the refurbishment went and hopefully meet again some of the wonderful staff.

The Rui Nautilus is an excellent in hotel .
The Adult only hotel is situated directly overlooking the beach and is on the edge of Torremilnos and within easy walking distance of the marina of Benalmadena with all its shops. There are ample facilities near the hotel, reasonably priced taxis are nearby and the cheap local bus service stops in both directions to Malaga, Arreyo del Roble and Mijas are on the main road about an 8 minutes walk from the hotel.
There is a large outside pool surrounded by ample sun beds. The inside pool with adjacent gym is quite small and not large enough for a good swim so we chose not to use this.
Residents are spoilt with the wide choice of food at the buffet service at the breakfast and evening meals. There is also a specialty Spanish Restaurant ‘Ole’ which my wife and I would recommend booking on at least one evening where the starter course is buffet service and the main course is by excellent waiter/waitress service.
Room are very comfortable and are spotlessly cleaned daily. Nightly entertainment is provided by various acts in the large lounge. Whilst we were there this included popular tribute acts to Elvis and ABBA .
However the outstanding thing about this hotel are all the staff who work here from the cleaners to the waiters/waitresses and reception staff. Everyone is so helpful, friendly and they efficient.
Javier, Sara, Isa and Ima, on the front desk all helped us in one way or another from helping me organise a surprise wedding anniversary cake and dinner for my wife to recommending wonderful local tapas bars, organising taxi to the airport and helping us practice our basic Spanish language etc. Susanna was a great waitress in the ‘Ole restaurant’ and again in the main restaurant. The room cleaner Isabelle was a kind, helpful and through cleaner for our 7th floor room which had excellent views.
We met several people here who come here 3 or 4 times a year and who all said that the wonderful staff were one of the reasons they came back so often.
The hotel is being closed for 4 months from November 25 to March 26 for a renovation, but we were really pleased to find out that the hotel staff are being kept employed by Rui as good staff like they have here would be difficult to replace.

Great stay, fantastic hotel. We booked directly via the RIU app and i emailed them prior to advise of our late arrival. Arrived late but welcomed with a drink and offered cold food plates from the restaurant if required We had room 49, located on the lower floor in the annex, but it was spacious and clean, which was perfect for our short stay. All the staff we encountered were amazing from reception to restaurant and bar. Due to the weather, we spent time in the main bar and staff were attentive each time. We always thoroughly enjoy our stays at RIU hotels, and understand the fantastic reviews this hotel consistently receives. Will be looking to return as soon as we can and looking forward to seeing this hotel refurbished into a RIU Palace. Thanks again for a great stay!

We stayed here for a second time, fabulous room, 329, overlooking the pool, in the annexe, the views where great, mountains, beach, sea, and pool area, we were given such a warm welcome by Xavier, who was quite a funny chap always having a laugh with us, the only thing with this hotel is the colour scheme, purple, but the good news it's shutting down for a complete upgrade in nov, the food is always decent, entertainment hit and miss, but if you get the chance to see, Mama Kath, bit like Mama Cass with a lisp, she is very good, well worth a watch, gets everyone up dancing

This has to be my fave hotel I just can’t stop going back, I’m back in may this year and plan to go back for my 60th and 30th wedding anniversary next July cos it’s such a lovely hotel and place to be. Sea facing rooms are spot on with awesome views, lovely and clean, staff really friendly especially the catering staff, the check in staff also lovely and greet you with a glass of cava on check in which is a nice touch in fact the first time I stayed there I ended up with two glasses because a lovely male staff member saw I enjoyed the first one to much lol. The breakfast and evening meal are both plentiful and delicious I especially like the fact there is a pile of extra loungers you can go get and put them on the grassed area if you don’t want to be to close to the pool or get up at stupid o clock. Evening entertainment also good stay and watch most nights then venture out after show to kaleido to end our night also a fab place, The hotel is set right on the promenade between torremolinos and benelmadina 10 min walk to the marina. Anyway I think you get the picture go for it you’ll love it!
See you in may everyone. 😁
