It’s not often I give my better half free reign in picking our holiday hotels but on this occasion I did and he struck gold. From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be perfect. We had just a very busy time touring around mainland Japan so we were ready to chill out and relax. The friendly staff immediately took care of our luggage and we were checked in straight away. We had a couple of small issues with our assigned room but with a little negotiation we ended up with a much nicer room that had a stunning sea view. To be able to wake up in the morning and enjoy a cup of tea on the spacious balcony was pure joy.
This four star hotel has everything you would need to enjoy a break away from life so much so that we struggled to find the need to leave while we were there. You have a choice of 5 dining options which we tried all of and loved. We especially enjoyed Sawa the Japanese themed restaurant where we got stunning food presented in a beautiful manner.
The pool area is huge with plenty day beds and you can also wander down the short distance to the beach area where there is also lots of day beds and umbrellas. We got some lovely drinks and snacks at the beach bar when we needed a break from swimming with hundreds of colorful fish right off the beach.
The hotel has a couple of gift stores where we were able to pick out some souvenirs to bring home and also a well stocked conscience store. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. The hard working friendly staff are a credit to it and the location over Nirai beach makes it an ideal break away destination.

Stayed 3 nights at Hotel Nikko Alivila. The location of the hotel is fantastic, just about an hour drive from the Airport and about 50 mins from Naha via the Highway.
It is a beach front hotel with relatively great beach area compared to some other hotels though it still has lots of coral chips and broken shells so a “wet / aqua shoes” is highly recommended.
The tides comes and go in Okinawa. During low tide, it is very fun to do the intertidal walk along the shallow area to experience the abundance sea creatures and fishes. It was amazing! You can see a lot of tropical fishes by just walking in the shallow water.
The hotel room is very generous in size, more than 40sqm I presumed. It is slightly outdated in terms of deco, but it was immaculately kept to its pristine condition. The toilet is huge with separate room for the WC. The shower has great water pressure, WC with a washer, and all the Bath Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner and Face Wash all provided for. There is a mini fridge and a Coffee machine as well.
The TV is extremely small, but I hardly have any time to switch it on.
My room is facing the Wedding Chapel, also a well known café next door (Banta Café). It is a instagramable spot so you can just walk over from the resort, it is about 5 mins walk.
The hotel has a big landscape Swimming Pool, but with many room inventory, the pool is always busy with lots of children. Nonetheless it is fun to hang out. If you prefer a quiet place to chill, they do have extensive beach deck and umbrellas where it is mostly adults.
The watersports centre has lots of activities and it is competitively priced. I was a little upset of the operating hours due to the tide, and they should have at least some communications to all their guests. The watersports centre only operate from 1500 hours to 1600 hours (only 1 hour) as before 1500, it was low tide, and after 1600 the tide comes in … so we only have 1 hour to do the watersports which is not ideal.
The breakfast was phenomenal, with 3 restaurants to choose from. This is one of the highlights. You can choose the Western Restaurant for breakfast, Japanese Restaurant for breakfast or a Casual Dining (a mixture and good for family and kids).
Parking is chargeable at 1000 Yen per stay. You can go in and out of the carpark with the ticket. The carpark is unsheltered just opposite the hotel.
The stay experience is absolutely phenomenal. I would highly recommend this hotel in Okinawa.

If you speak Japanese and do not mind an old hotel that has not been renovated in 30+ years, with below average food - this is probably fine for you. We arrived to the ocean front room we had booked and it smelled strongly of mildew, everywhere. the plugs by the bed did not work. The furniture is from the 1980s. The windows have not been cleaned in a long time. At least the bathroom was clean. Checking in/ eating at the restaurant, etc is all challenging as the hotel does not seem to have any English speakers. The staff was overworked and looked to be overwhelmed. The food is far below average, such a shame as Japanese food is almost always wonderful. I have been to Japan at least seven or eight times before. I am not dissuaded from engaging with the local environment and people - to the contrary we love to. Yet, this hotel was so bad we left after one night even though we had paid for four nights. Almost everyone we say here was old and spoke Japanese. If that describes you, it might be fine. If not - avoid.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Alivila. Initially the room we got was quite smelly (not sure why.. a bit musty or cigarette smoke) and when I complained they offered me another room which was much better. Thanks to the front desk staff for indulging us and instead of ignoring it, they did take proactive steps to rectify. Although this smelly room is not just limited to this hotel but for some reason my other hotel in Naha was also smelly.. the staff blame it on the humid weather but I live in a similarly hot and humid country and the rooms never smell ! The room was however quite large and we had the sea facing room and corner room, so the view was absolutely gorgeous.. bathroom was stocked with everything one would need. Breakfast had numerous choices.. but one drawback was that it never changes.. we were there for 5 days and it was the same .. so after the 3rd day we were a bit tired and would have loved some alternative choices.. being a vegetarian the choices were a bit limited as compared to the non veg but frankly there was enough. Unfortunately it rained almost everyday we were there so could not enjoy the beach. One feature that I loved was the cheap laundry facilities! There were many washer/dryers and for just 300 Yen we could wash and dry our clothes. Hope all hotels could adopt this and do away with expensive laundry services! Parking is charged 1000yen for entire stay and although the parking lot is huge, it was mostly full everyday. There are 3-4 restaurants within the hotel but have very limited vegetarian choices for dinner. There are many restaurants a few minutes away from hotel and even a vegan place about 5 kms away. The staff were most attentive, calm , smiling and efficient. There were a few English speaking staff too. Full marks to them and their service. However, Please however try to get rid of the smell in the corridors and rooms.

We stayed four night at this lovely resort. It's a really relaxing place away from the city. The staff are very welcoming, professional and helpful. The hotel ground is well kept, but the hotel itself needs a bit of updating. Breakfast is included with good options to choose from. We also experienced the dinner buffet which was good. The rooms face Nirai Beach which is very beautiful with crystal clear water. If you like walking there is a short trail along the beach that reaches Murasaki Mura and Gala Okinawa Art Shop. Recommended.

Had visited this place from 7th to 11th of June. The property is excellent. About 35kms from the airport and set in a nice tranquil place.
Check-in was smooth and we got an upgrade in terms of the room as it was my birthday on 10th June. So thanks to the staff for that.
Pros:
- Nice balcony in the room facing the lovely blue sea and a view of the chapel
- Staff was polite and courteous
- The swimming pool and the private beach is absolutely lovely.
- some very nice stores in the resort for shopping
- Overall the location and infrastructure of the property is mind-blowing.
Cons:
- The in-room dining menu is just too thin. Hardly any items in there. They have got about four restaurants in the hotel. But in comparison the in-room dining menu is just disappointing. They should definitely add more items (could be Asian but Ideally should be a mix of western and Asian) to the menu
- Overall the menu around the chicken and sea food area was extremely thin. Both in terms of western and Japanese food. The menu seemed to be full of beef and pork only. While I eat everything, getting some good Teppanyaki style
Sea food is something that one always desires.
- No minibar in the room. I mean there was a fridge but nothing in it. Again not sure why would one do that. This is a resort where people would want to stay in their rooms longer as enjoy the view with a nice beer in the balcony. Ordering that everytime via room service is a nuisance
- The English speaking proficiency of the staff was extremely poor. Especially when you are trying to order room service. Yea I know it is Japan and all that.. but guys for the prices that you are charging, I would expect the staff to speak decent English. The inability of the staff to speak English really handicaps expats like me to get any help. Help in terms of asking if we can get some food not listed on the menu for room service or to enquire about what’s in the area, etc etc.
- Me and my wife have are never in HK for my birthday. We have always been at some or the other resort. The minimum that any resort does for a birthday is wish me on that day if I am staying with them. Some of them have even sent a cake to my room. Now that’s excellent customer service. And it needs no rocket science to think of this. I was a little surprised that i didn’t even get a simple birthday wish from any of the staff here. Not that I care about it; but when we talk about excellent customer service, these things definitely matter
So to sum it up, the property per se is excellent. It is a gem hidden away from the city. If they can fix their service, it could be one of the most mind-blowing resorts there!

After a two night stay at the Nikki Alivia, I was not impressed. The lack of English speaking staff makes it difficult to communicate, even on the simplest things. The food is ok, our best meal was the Teppanyaki restaurant, a bit expensive after eating our way around Japan, but still ok. We also tried the HanaHana buffet dinner. Not worth a penny. I would suggest the bar next to the lobby, they offer different sandwiches and one type of pizza. The breakfast was ok, but they can’t call it ‘western’ when it’s still strongly influenced by Japanese cuisine. On our last day we arrived at one of the three breakfast restaurants at 08.43, we’re we told that we had to wait for 15-20 minutes before we could be seated, as we were leaving for the airport in 45 minutes, this resulted in a bad mood. We ended up ditching breakfast and used the coupon to pay for yesterday’s dinner instead . This could easily have been avoided if the staff had been informative when we checked in. We had difficulties understanding the receptionist, who didn’t speak English that well enough for her to explain different situations and activities at the hotel. The beach is nice, the pool is nice, and the rooms are clean and modern. But, if they want to attract more western visitors I suggest they start teaching their staff some English.

We stayed in the highest floor room this time, because it was a rainy balcony but there was no rain shelter. It was a pity that the breakfast CP was very low and there were not many foods to eat. After leaving the airport on the last day, I found that the jacket and airpods were placed in the hotel room. Because I couldn’t speak Japanese, I first searched for the hotel mailbox but couldn’t find it. I personally found the fan page and found that the official locked the message, so the fans The special page could not receive the message. Finally, the phone was sent through a Japanese friend. The hotel said that it was found, but it needed to pay cash postage. In addition, it was only sent to Japan, and it was not sent abroad. The person was told that it could not go back at the airport, and there was no way to send cash. The hotel insisted that he could not do anything. He repeatedly said that he would not accept credit card or remittance. He could only send cash to help send it, and the delivery can only be sent to Japan. It really feels super silent! In addition, it is really the only hotel that has ever stayed at the hotel to collect parking fees. It’s really speechless. This is not a B&B. It’s a coastal view hotel!
