I was looking forward to this small trip. SO going to Billy
Strings concert so I thought I would enjoy a 4 Star hotel.
It was a total bait and switch. I was expecting a diner and a way to order breakfast which they had advertised on website. Got there and nothing. No diner, no room service etc. You could however walk to their sister hotel and get breakfast. Then they attempted to blame the hurricane for all the lack of services. Which was total BS as they did not have flood damage or wind damage. The rooms are spacious and nice. But would you prefer a TV in bathroom or a microwave. Room 410 had no microwave.
To get ice one has to go to the front desk, no ice or vending machines on the 4 the floor. Now remember they say the are a 4 star hotel but have no diner, no room service no anything one would expect. There was not a bell hop so you were on your own there. I have never seen a 4 star hotel without a bell hop who would take your luggage and show you around the room, again this is not a 4 star hotel.
Did I complain you bet I did. I was called at breakfast Saturday morning and told I could leave and get a refund if I DID IT BY 11 am the normal check out time. I could not believe this. We were at breakfast and had our day planned so I had to stay. Seems they just wanted to add insult to the whole experience.
You do get complementary champagne, I would rather have had the services advertised on their website. Which even the front desk admits was not updated to show the lack of amenities at least at a Hampton inn or holiday inn or any other chain you get some type of breakfast ...not here unless you want to walk to their sister hotel.
Do not expect a 4 star motel. It has great rooms and a great location but that is it. It would have a 2 star ranking at best.

I recently stayed at this property. Jan 25-26. I booked a king suite room with a Jacuzzi tub.
I rarely complain but wanted to bring a few things to your attention. First, I wanted to let you know that this was a special getaway weekend with my husband as we are currently geographically separated. I booked the nicest room you had including the Jacuzzi tub because this was a supposed to be a romantic weekend. When I tried to use the Jacuzzi tub at approximately 7:30 PM, I had no hot water. I called the front desk, he said "he would flip a breaker and to try later." As you can imagine, waiting on a water heater to do its thing was very aggravating and not very romantic. The fact that the front desk person knew to flip the breaker implies that this is a known problem with at least this room. Why rent it out if something doesn't work properly.
To make things worse, this morning, I went to jump in the shower and again had no hot water. The front desk simply said, "they were sorry and would report it to maintenance." I was not offered another room to shower in, simply an apology. I had an important meeting this morning and had to leave without a shower in a less than prepared manner. Again, very aggravated. When I discussed during checkout, all I got from the desk was an "I'm sorry."
Did I mentioned that I crashed into a piece of pipe sticking out of the bed platform/frame in the middle of the night? Talk about a rude awakening! This could have really hurt someone. Lucky for me not stitches. See attached photo.
Finally, I wish the hotel website would have been updated to reflect that your hotel restaurant was closed. When you spend this much money on a room, the ability to have a nice sit-down breakfast and cup of coffee prior to departing would have been nice. I understand renovations, but to be fair, this should have been advertised up front so we could make an informed decision.
I really want to like this hotel. Location is great ... historic old department store ... but when one of the primary reasons I booked the hotel (Jacuzzi tub) couldn't be used and I had to leave without a shower or a decent cup of coffee, I cannot recommend it.

We decided to take a break from the family holiday this year and had planned to go to St. Marys, Georgia. However, we decided to go to Asheville instead and help support that area. We understood some staffing and services would probably be limited and that was fine. We arrived on Christmas Day and were the only ones checking in. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and explained hot water may be sporadic and limited during our stay. We stayed in Room #201 which was very large compared to the typical hotel room and had very interesting architectural details from the buildings previous lives. Two outside facing windows with a view of a narrow alley but that was fine with us. A very large bathroom with whirlpool tub and everything was very clean with very nice towels. The bed was very comfortable and we never had an issue with hot water during our stay. No daily room service since our stay was less than 4 days and we replenished toiletries and coffee items from the lobby which was just fine with us. A very interesting lobby and atrium area with lots of historical signs and touches such as the elevator announcements. The bar/restaurant was not open but tons of places all within easy walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful during every interaction we had with them. The valet parking was $ 19 a night. This property is right in the heart of downtown Asheville and a perfect location. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Asheville.

My husband and I love this place. We've stayed here a few times and every time we do, everyone is so nice. At this visit Miranda was particularly kind and helpful. She had great recommendations and helped with trying to find local places to hang. We'll be back. Thanks Miranda!!

The Haywood Park Hotel is located in a 1920's era refurbished, former department store (Bon Marche).
Lobby features a fully operating 1929 Model A Sedan and memorabilia of the department store from that age.
Our room (deluxe King Suite - Room 214) was HUGE! Living and Dining areas (with seating area, dining table/chairs, mini fridge and flat screen) with a separate bedroom which connects to a large bath with 2 sinks and a big shower with a rain shower head as well as a handle shower head. Separate area for the toilet.
Flat screen, good sized closet.
Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet (even though it faced the street)
Hotel staff were very helpful with restaurant/bar suggestions and info about Asheville.
Walkable to most within downtown Asheville.
Valet parking is available ($17/night with no extra charge for in/out per day).
Only (very minor) item is we had to go to the front desk in the lobby for ice. BUT - they serve champagne in the late afternoon so.....
(try the Flat Iron Hotel roof bar across the street - great views of the Smokey Mountains)

We dined at Isa’s and used the valet parking through the hotel. It was obvious they were very busy and short staffed. William was running between valet parking and checkin, pouring champagne, and greeting everyone with a smile. While the parking was complimentary for guests of the restaurant, we wanted to tip but had no cash. Most places in town have a QR code you can scan for tips- PLEASE incorporate this at your hotel as he deserved the most! Kudos to William for running the show with exceptional service!

The hotel is a former department store The rooms are very large. The beds are firm almost brick like. The paint above the tub/shower was peeling off. The temperature control is a dial without numbers and hard to control. The location is great and the staff are friendly including the valets. The hotel is just strange, there’s no life to it. The walls are thin between rooms and the heavy doors slam even when trying to be careful.

This was our third stay at this lovely and well appointed hotel, which is conveniently located in walking distance of all the downtown shops and restaurants, art museum, etc.. The offered glass of champagne at check-in is a nice touch. The staff and valets are friendly and helpful. The playful elevator announcing each floor as if this was still the old department store (which it once was) is a nice quirky touch, too. The king-bedroom suites are large and clean and nicely appointed. It would help if there was an exhaust in the bathroom. We must warn that rooms 1 and 2 and from 12 to 16 on each floor face the alley where the trash is kept and where trucks back up with typical alarm-clock warning beeps at 5:45 am, which is not so nice and the reason that we did not give a 5 star review.

Our visit to Asheville for my birthday was amazing due in large part to staying at the Haywood. What a gem right in the heart of downtown where there are tons of shops, restaurants and bars. We knew our stay was going to be great when we were greeted at check-in with a glass of champagne. Classy!! Our room was amazing, over 900 sq ft, of luxury. The service was top notch from the front desk to the valets. Speaking of, we usually steer clear of hotels with valet only parking but the valets here are on it. Fast and friendly, especially Will and Seth. The cherry on the sundae happened on my birthday. The front desk staff noticed my birthday button earlier in the day. Upon returning from dinner, we found a lovely box of fresh truffles from a local shop in our room. What a surprise. The hotel is in the historic Bon Marche department store building. Remnants of the store tastefully remain in the hotel including the elevator calling out the original floor message. We were on the Children's Wear floor. Very fun! We highly recommend the Haywood when visiting Asheville.
