We stayed at the Four Seasons for 3 nights in December before Christmas in a King room that over looked the street on the 8th floor. We had a wonderful stay and the room was exceptionally comfortable. I am in love with the pillows and bed sheets and slept so well. The large walk in shower was a treat as were the supplied toiletries and free standing bath. All staff we interacted were friendly and helpful, with a special shout out to the bellmen, who went out of their way to be so so helpful every time we arrived back or left. The valet parking service was the best we have enjoyed, they even supplied us with water for our onward journey to Mont Tremblant and stored our skis for us during our stay at no extra charge. That is what you expect in a hotel of this calibre and they definitely delivered. The breakfast was also extremely good, whilst very expensive, but we enjoyed it so much we did this on two of our three mornings. There were plenty of options, healthy foods to choose from and great wait staff. if we ever stay in Montreal again, this would be our hotel of choice.

Overall, a solid stay at Four Seasons - Montreal.
Hospitality and service were impeccable, from the doorperson to the concierges to the servers. We were celebrating an anniversary and were surprised by a room upgrade and a complimentary drink in Marcus Samuelsson's MARCUS Restaurant + Lounge (which is beautiful!) while the change was made. We later received a lovely gift from friends, which included champagne and an absolutely scrumptious pastry wishing us a "happy anniversary." We were also able to get a slightly-later check-out on our last day (and were able to leave our bags to pick up on our way to the airport).
The suite, on the 12th (top) floor, was lovely--set-up was similar to the Conrad in Washington, DC and The Plaza Hotel in NYC. Thankfully we could not hear the sounds from either the nightly club downstairs or the wedding celebration on the Saturday. We heard a bit of noise from the room next door on that Saturday night (think it was used to house the childcare for said wedding), but thankfully my travel white-noise machine was able to cover it.
Generally loved the countertop space in the bathroom, the variable lighting schemes available and the button-controlled curtains (though sometimes wish for a guide or labels rather than trial-and-error for the latter two), the wooden room keys, and the walkability of this Four Seasons (close to convenience stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and sightseeing).
Some additional pros:
- Wifi worked well throughout the hotel, including the fitness facility/gym, which made my workouts that much smoother;
- Electrical outlets on both sides of the bed with bedside tables;
- Hair dryer, shower cap, loofa, various toiletries (wished these were unscented, as I tend to be slightly allergic to florals), robes and slippers available (would have preferred to keep the same slippers the entire stay to reduce waste);
- Complimentary boxed water and a water-bottle filling station in the fitness facility/gym;
- Complimentary coffee machine and hot-water kettle;
- Nightly turn-down included a filled ice bucket;
- Good-sized fitness facility with multiple treadmills (including a curved manual), ellipticals (two types), stair stepper, recumbent and upright cycling machines, weight benches and machines, free weights, and yoga mats;
- Umbrella was available to borrow (thankfully not needed!)
Only cons were in the bathroom: the temperature of the shower fluctuated during use (suddenly getting hotter or chillier) and the bathtub plug didn't fully close the drain.

We just experienced a wonderful and nearly flawless stay at the Four Seasons Montreal. Everything was on point, from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. I was most impressed by how friendly the staff was; truly everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful. On top of remembering our names, many people also wished my partner a happy birthday.
I also give high marks to the room. This is probably the best appointed hotel room I have ever stayed in; online pictures don’t do it justice! We found the quality of the food and drink to be wonderful as well. Breakfast was a highlight, but we were a little bummed to see a slightly reduced room service menu as we were big fans of the « breakfast sandwich » available only in the restaurant.
Two areas of opportunity that we noted. First, breakfast was slow in the restaurant, almost comically slow the first morning. We weren’t in a rush and just sat and enjoyed our coffee, but it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out after placing our order. The second morning was not quite as long but not very quick either. The second point is very very minor but we did see some inconsistency with respect to cups, mugs, and glasses being replaced by room service. For example, we would make a coffee in the afternoon only to find the next morning we had no mugs.
I think this is as close to perfect as one could get for a downtown city luxury hotel, and we would happily stay here again the next time we are in Montreal. Un grand merci to the entire team for making our trip so special and comfortable.

This appears to be a property not originally built by or for The Four Seasons, but the rooms are nice if not elegant. The bedding is good. The bathroom is ample size with modern shower. (I might prefer two sinks..) The overall property is more than adequately staffed. There were always 3 or 4 or 5 very professional agents at the reception desk. Phones were answered promptly. There were 3 or 4 bellmen at the entrance to help with directions or recommendation for lunch etc. Good gym. The egg restaurant and French restaurant within one block walk very good and quite the bonus. On balance, not one of the Four Seasons' finer or more elegant properties, but perfectly fine with superb service. Would return.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Montreal Four Seasons. And, after having been to Montreal, I see there is no real competition when it comes to luxury accommodations in this city. Believe me… the other comparable chain’s offering is shockingly leftover. I made the right choice and while there are things about this hotel I didn’t exactly love (the pool is not much of anything, the gym is fine but…), the staff was great overall and the room was very stylish and modern (although it had some odd touches). All in all, a very good experience.
The good things include the friendly and efficient front desk staff (Vash, Neil and Nicholas), the excellent restaurant (Florence was really friendly, as were all the hosts and servers), the phone reservationist Rayne (so helpful), Gregory from room service (very nice every night) and Devin at the front door. In truth, some of the guys at the front door didn’t greet me everything I walked in (they were busy talking to each other or just not there) but were very nice other times. Consistency in welcoming you back would be better at these prices and expectations. They seem a little understaffed sometimes down there, too.
The hotel is located on a narrow side street between Montreal’s two main streets in the “upscale” Carre Dore, which has seen better days. Still, it’s pretty vibrant for any mid-sized downtown in 2024. It’s easy walking distance to most of the touristy things you want to see in downtown and feels way safer than any downtown in the US. There are plenty of places nearby to pick up a bike rental on the street and lots of bike lanes to use. We biked a lot in Montreal… a very fun way to see the city.
The FS has two views… east (overlooking a weedy, empty parking lot and slivers of the skyline) and west (overlooking some not super-attractive mid-rise college buildings PLUS the 20 story high mural of Leonard Cohen). Definitely pick the Leonard Cohen view, even if you’re not a fan. The hotel itself is not very tall (14 stories including 4 for residences above) so you won’t great vistas… just try to avoid the really bad vistas, of which there are several.
I requested the best view on the phone and at the front desk and they gave it to me on the first try! (Unlike the Toronto FS). How nice. Didn’t have to change rooms or anything. It was much appreciated. The rooms are Four Seasons luxe and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows and comfy beds. The bathroom only has one sink (why?). But it has a large soaking tub (with a weird, semi-broken drain… you need a strong toothpick to pop it up into place… and it sometimes wants to drain itself as soon as you get into the tub when it’s full of water… I had to look up instructions on the manufacturer’s website while naked and ready to bathe… with is the opposite of luxury). There was some oddly disturbing jungly-print wallpaper in the toilet stall, and a weird orange tint to part of the shower door. Why? On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable and overall, it felt elegant and modern and pretty fresh. Oh. Unfortunately, the AC blows right on the beds so you have to cover your head at night. It’s too high up to be adjusted. A real miss as far as basic design goes. Do architects and designers ever think about the guest? Not as often as you’d hope.
The entrance is a bit lackluster for this kind of money. You basically walk into a large hallway with elevators at the end. The lobby is on Level 3 and is attached to Level 4 of the newish Holt Renfrew Department Store (more like a Canadian Neiman Marcus) that is part of the same project (which dates to about 2019). There is a large but strangely unappealing lobby bar… that you kind of just walk through to get to the reception desk from the store or if you’re coming up to the hotel through the public elevator banks (there is a private one for guests). Not a place I’d want to spend any time at all, and few did.
However, the back of that floor opens up to Marcus Restaurant, by famous TV chef Marcus Samuelson. I gotta say, after experiencing the mediocrity of Daniel Boulud’s restaurant at the Four Seasons Toronto, I was blown away by the quality of Marcus. Well done, chefs! Amazing pasta! Great burgers. It’s a very pretty room that almost feels like it’s outdoors… the rear windows can be opened… with another small bar on the far left. The food was fantastic at breakfast every day and the room service food (which comes from the same kitchen) was outstanding every night. Really, the best hotel restaurant food I’ve ever had. And all the servers and hosts were lovely. Lots of upscale locals dine here, which is always a good sign.
I didn’t love the gym (not big or impressive and just okay) but the indoor pool was a true disappointment and reeks of chlorine. It is windowless, a bit claustrophobic and small. I never saw anyone down there. Again, bad design! I was really hoping to use it and never did. I’d rather use my tub, which after you got the hang of the faulty drain, worked okay.
Another nice feature above floor 6 is the glassed-in atrium with a lovely mobile installation that’s hermetically sealed. You get to admire it every time you walk to the elevators. Oddly enough, it’s not lit up at night. Again, why?
Almost forgot. It seems to be a thing at this chain in Canada… but what’s with the DJs at the FS bars? All they do is clear out a room. You can’t have a good business meeting over drinks at these hotels without wondering when they’re going to blast you with not-great music. I’d rethink this weird trend.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Montreal with FS money in their budget. It didn’t wow me ever but I am pretty sure I had the best experience one can expect to have in this city. They do a very good job here overall.

The Four Seasons Montreal did not disappoint. The bellboys and front desk were helpful and remembered our names. The rooms are furnished beautifully with many high-end details that make it a pleasure to be in the room. There are two seating areas that are large enough to set up small work stations for two people. Wi-fi was sufficient with no issues taking zoom calls. We overlooked a main road so were concerned about road noise, but that wasn't an issue at all. The room comes with a Lavazza machine which I asked to be switched out to a Nespresso and they were able to accommodate my request. Room service breakfast can be ordered through the ipad that comes with the room and was delicious with a great selection. Housekeeping also accommodated our schedules in that we were in the room most of the day working but still managed to clean our room when we were at the gym or out later in the afternoon. The gym is amazing and for its size is probably just as good if not better than the Anatomy we go to at home. The location was convenient, we were able to walk to Old Montreal and were 10-15 minutes drive to most of the restaurants we went to for dinner. We even walked into the park, although if we'd known how steep it would be we probably would have ubered. Overall, an excellent experience!
