Reviews of COMO Parrot Cay
Luxury and Romance combined in the most beautiful setting
Como Parrot Cay is worth the expense (very high) and travel effort (20 mins car from airport to a 30 min boat ride). The property is exquisite, very private and secure and so beautiful. There isn’t a lot to do other than beach, read, workout, tennis, spa.

Definitely not a luxury hotel – a complete disappointment One of the worst experiences I’ve had at a so-called luxury hotel. In reality, there is nothing luxurious about it except the ridiculously high prices. The staff only care about money and show zero interest in the guests’ comfort or well-being. The service is terrible—distant, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable for a place that claims to be high-end. The facilities are far from what they advertise, and the overall experience was extremely disappointing. The only good thing is the beach and the sea, but that alone doesn’t make up for everything else. I definitely do not recommend it.

Disappointing Stay for the Price

As someone who has traveled extensively, I had high expectations for this resort given its price tag of over $2,000 per night. Unfortunately, while it has some bright spots, this property falls far short of the luxury it promises. What once might have been a 5-star paradise is now a tired, outdated shell in desperate need of a full renovation. Pros • Beautiful ocean: The natural surroundings are stunning, offering picture-perfect views. • Heated family pool: The family pool is warm and inviting, though the adult pool isn’t heated. • Friendly staff: The staff were a highlight of our stay. They were attentive, remembered us, and went above and beyond to salvage what could’ve been a disastrous experience. • Thoughtful touches: Complimentary sunscreen by the pool, a beach bag in the room, nightly maid gifts, and a stellar deep tissue massage added some luxury to the stay. • Convenience of gift shops: Having two on-site gift shops was a nice touch. Cons • Outdated facilities: The entire property is rundown. Poolside cushions are ripped, the family pool is old, and the wood accents are poorly maintained (often just painted over rather than properly restored). Rooms and walkways are in dire need of updates. • Limited dining options: Only one restaurant is open each night, and while they try to accommodate dietary preferences, the limited choices and reliance on room service are not ideal for a luxury resort. • Poor landscaping: The grounds are unkempt, with overgrown weeds and no vibrant flowers. It feels neglected rather than lush. • Cumbersome arrival process: Getting to the resort is a headache—over an hour and a half involving customs, taxis, boats, and golf carts. It’s exhausting and not at all streamlined. • Pricey food and drinks: The resort charges exorbitant rates for food and beverages, adding to the frustration. • Lack of soundproofing: Expect to hear your neighbors and operational noise from surrounding areas. • Disappointing views: The advertised “ocean view” was underwhelming— it’s a 5 minute walk from the beach and you can barely see the ocean over the canopy of the trees, save your money and go for a garden view instead. • Bugs: The property is swarming with flies, and I left covered in itchy bites. This is unacceptable for a high-end resort. • Accessibility issues: The long walks to the pool and beach are not suitable for guests with mobility challenges. • Basic toiletries: The refillable shampoo and conditioner dispensers felt cheap and unsanitary for a resort at this price point. Final Thoughts While the staff’s excellent service and a few thoughtful amenities kept this from being a total disaster, the overall experience was hugely disappointing. This resort is far from its former glory and doesn’t justify its exorbitant rates. Until significant renovations are made, I can’t recommend this property for anyone seeking a true luxury experience.

If pure relaxation amidst a quiet, natural setting is the objective, COMO Parrot Cay is the resort I would recommend. The private island means complete tranquility and welcomed isolation from noise and traffic. The service was excellent. I was impressed by the responsiveness to email questions before our arrival, the hospitality and wait staff and the payment question we had upon check out that was promptly tended to by Deborah at the front desk. I was impressed by the “aim to please” positive attitude by the staff especially during dining, by the pool and in the spa and this experience will encourage me to consider other COMO properties. Many of the staff have been with COMO for over one decade all over the world, which speaks highly of the company as an employer. The hotel is not inexpensive including food and drinks and some buildings could use a renovation. The villas looked amazing but we were pleased with our sea view room. Breakfast was delicious and special. We visited the Grace Bay area and were relieved we chose to stay at COMO Parrot Cay as it is world of difference in terms of tranquility and pure nature. Amazing service from start to finish.

We booked a two night stay in an OF king to see if it suited us. The staff and service here was outstanding!! Almost everyone called us by name! The beach is exactly what you expect for TCI and the pools too were very nice From the website photos we did not expect the hotel rooms to be that far away from the beach and also up a few flights of stairs. Not sure they are OF? The rooms were fine.. well maintained with plenty of waters and snacks. As first timers we were a little concerned with the travel here but should not have been… all transfers were flawless. Our only real disappointment was the food, especially at dinner. Not sure it would be enough for an extended stay. We see others loved it but that was not our experience. We are long time visitors to Provo and after two nights here were glad we could enjoy more time on Grace Bay. Ps- be very careful if crossing the North Caicos channel… rip tides.

We have been going to Parrot Cay for 20 years. Each stay is better than the time before. Shirley Williams and her entire team make you feel like family each and every time. The spa services are absolute perfection and dining options are superb.

I celebrated my 60th birthday at Parrot Cay with my husband. It was the right choice. We had been here 19 years ago and when I thought about a place I'd like to go to again, this was it (and we've been to many beautiful resorts in the Caribbean and around the world). The property has expanded since but still ticks all the boxes. Beautiful beach, quiet gorgeous blue water, lovely pool, comfortable luxurious room, delicious breakfast included, and great friendly service. Airport transfers t the 20-minute boat ride to the cay were seamless. We paid a little more for the ocean view room but honestly did not need the view as we spent little time in our room. There are some things to do (we hit the gym most mornings and there are excursions and water activities) but most people seem to come here to relax and recharge. I had an amazing deep tissue massage at the spa. Try the pizza, it's so good! Shirley, the manager, is lovely and took photos of us when they surprised me with birthday cake, then delivered a framed photo to our room after dinner. So sweet! Unlike some of the other reviews, we did not have ANY mosquito issues, not one bite or buzz. My bet is it has to do with the time of year you go. Last time we visited, it was April and we do remember the mosquitos being a problem then. If there was one area I'd point to for improvement, it would be the dinner food, which was limited and small portions (and yes, it's expensive but that's not surprising given how remote this property is). And keep in mind you'll need to be comfortable with steps to and from the rooms on the hill. All in all, I highly recommend COMO Parrot Cay!

My wife and I went for a week and had an absolutely amazing time. It was very relaxing experience. We spent all of the time just hanging out at the pool or beach, reading books and recharging. We thought we would get bored, but did not. There's tennis, massages, some hiking and kayaking to do. We didn't feel the need to book an excursion. The resort was not too crowded, and the beach was clean and beautiful. The food was all very good and we thought the service was also great. The prices for food and drinks were expensive but the free breakfast helped. Our room was recently renovated and was comfortable. We will definitely consider coming back if we make it back to Turks and Caicos!

My wife and I spent eight nights at Como Parrot Cay just before Thanksgiving 2023, opting for their Beach House—a private beachfront villa set apart from the main lodgings. While the cost was considerable, we consistently seek high-end beachfront accommodations offering privacy, a private heated infinity edge pool, and, ideally, a personal jacuzzi—all of which the Beach House at Como Parrot cay provided. The pluses… • Private HEATED infinity edge pool overlooking the beach. A first for us, this pool overlooking the beach was genuinely heated to our liking, that set Como Parrot Cay apart from our previous stays at luxury resorts like Cheval Blanc in the Maldives, Four Seasons in Punta Mita, Ritz Reserve in Puerto Rico, Ritz Reserve in Los Cabos, Rosewood in Riviera Maya, Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum, Turkey, and others. • Private Jacuzzi in the rear of the villa, with accompanying outdoor shower. • Spacious interior accommodations with full bath including tub, and more. • The BEST part of Como Parrot Cay, without a doubt, was the exceptional service. We have been all over the world to the most expensive resorts, and the service at the Como Parrot Cay was by far the best we ever experienced. They assigned us a butler. (We’ve had butlers before but never like this.) The Butler was exclusive just for us and stayed with us for the duration of our vacation. His name was Ardi, and he treated us like a King and Queen. He was our beach attendant setting up lounges and umbrellas. He was our waiter. He was our chauffeur driving us to the fitness center and main restaurants. He was our in-room dining server. He did it all, and with a smile. Not once did Ardi say the word No. Not once did he rely on other staff members to answer a request. He took responsibility and made sure everything possible was handled to our liking. He was the true embodiment of proper hospitality. Cheers to the management for recruiting and training him so well. Ardi made our trip great and carefree. The minuses… Unfortunately, however, Como Parrot Cay does not deserve 5 stars. • Despite the idyllic beachfront location, the Beach House villa was surrounded by wild, unkempt foliage, leading to a substantial presence of mosquitoes, roaches, moths, flies, and other insects. So much so, that our king bed was encased by a net to keep the bugs out. That was fine for the nights, but during the day, bugs were everywhere. Ardi gave us bug spray but that didn’t stop the bug bites. My wife had no less than 30 bites all over. This could have all been prevented if the resort cleaned up the surrounding landscape and maintained it with manicured lawns, flowers, and neat shrubbery. But the messy wilderness surrounding the villa was a haven for the bugs, hence the havoc was upon us and diminished our overall vacation. (It didn’t help that it rained every day, causing even more buggy chaos.) • Secondly, a minor but important comment- While Como Parrot Cay was the first venue to adequately heat the pool, it was the ONLY high-end resort we ever visited lacking a separate toilet room in the bathroom. Believe me– that is very annoying. So bottom line, although this was the best service we ever had, and even though accommodation met our wish list, we are hesitant to return, simply because of the unkempt surroundings causing the exorbitant bugginess. We apologize to the management for such a rough review. Everyone was so nice and accommodating, but we don’t want to pay so much money and have such a difficult time with bugs. Let us know if you clean up the surroundings and make it well-manicured, and then we would be excited to return.

This hotel is sensational! When we travel, we compare every 5 star hotel to Como because they set the bar so high. It’s worth every penny and may have ruined other hotels for us haha. Our first trip was in Spring 2022 and we loved it so much we came back in Nov. The grounds are breathtaking. The staff is warm and welcoming. The breakfast is wonderful with so many choices and we were blown away by how good dinner was each night. The spa is lovely and open to all guests whether you are getting a treatment or not. Even the gym has a beautiful view. The beach bar has to be the best in the Caribbean with incredible drinks and views. The bar/pool food menu is also outstanding. The rooms are spacious and comfortable as are the bathrooms. I really can’t say a bad thing about it. If you are looking for a Caribbean escape from the real world, this is it. We can’t wait to come back!

Recently spent 4 night here and really loved the experience. We were looking for a very relaxed, luxurious getaway and this was perfect. The boat ride from the main island to the resort was a great way to get into the vacation mode after our flight from NYC. We even had two dolphins show up and play in the wake behind the boat. The timing was perfect. Sadly, they didn't show up on our return to the main island. The spa was truly incredible. The service was top notch and the treatments were excellent. We upgraded our package to include a daily spa treatment. I'd do that again! Breakfast was tasty and there were so many options. The other restaurant/food options were great. And yes, they are expensive so be prepared. But most things on an island are expensive because most everything is imported. Add to that, this is a private island, too. If you are going to flip out over a $42 hamburger, this is not the place for you. We are planning out next trip. We wanted one of the 1 room beach houses but they were not available. We learned they were all being renovated now that their high season has passed. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We stayed in 805 and had a beautiful view of the ocean
