2017 was a huge year for celebrity weddings. From sports icons and TV stars to royal families, it wasn't easy to hand-pick just ten of our absolute favorite celebrity wedding celebrations for this year. Hey, it's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it! And with Prince Harry engaged to Suits star Meghan Markle, we already can't wait for 2018's crop of equally amazing superstar brides and grooms. But until then, here are our picks for the top ten celebrity weddings of 2017.
Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian
Tennis megastar Serena Williams said "I do" to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in November, putting on a celeb-tastic ceremony boasting names like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. Serena stunned in a Sarah Burton princess ball gown from Alexander McQueen, cutting a beautiful curvy figure that we've become so used to seeing in a tennis get-up. To say the least, we prefer seeing her in that unbelievable dress! Of course, she'd soon be trading it for a swimsuit for her private island dream honeymoon at Kamahame Cay in the Bahamas.
Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli
Lauren Morelli is one of the brilliant writers being the femme-focused hit prison dramedy Orange is the New Black, and Samira Wiley is one of the stars. They make magic together on the show, so it's no surprise that the duo fell in love and decided to tie the knot in a gorgeous Palm Springs ceremony last March, posting a series of adorable shots to Instagram for us all to live vicariously through their newlywed bliss. We hope they enjoyed some of the area's trendy boutiques along with killer views of gorgeous green California hills.
Kate Upton and Justin Verlander
In early November, supermodel Kate Upton walked up the aisle to become united in holy matrimony with Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander. It all went down in the rolling hills of Tuscany, and being that the Astros won the world series just a few days before the wedding, I'd say the sunny weather on the morning of the big day was far from the only good omen in store. And with a bride as beautiful as Kate to call his other half, Justin is hitting (or pitching) it out of the park in more ways than one!
Josh Flagg & Bobby Boyd
Known as the star real estate agent on Bravo's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, Josh Flagg married former model Bobby Boyd at a close-to-home ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. After dancing their pants off at the reception, the two jet-setted off to a steamy R-rated honeymoon in Bora Bora that was everything a honeymoon should be: carefree, joyous, initimate, and totally decadent.
Sean Faris & Cherie Daly
Sean Faris charmed us all starring in Pretty Little Liars, and he and the love of his life Cherie Daly decided that the Burning Man festival looked too awesome not to attend. Once they were there, they realized the had found the perfect spot to make their vows. After all, what better place to solidify the love burning in your heart than at the Burning Man festival? Magic was in the air as they said "I do" at the foot of an enormous art installation in the middle of an endless desert...an art, creativity, and psychedelia-fueled wedding celebration unlike any other in the world. Let's hope their love keeps burning bright for a long and happy marriage!
Troy Aikman & Capa Mooty
Quarterback hall of famer Troy Aikman married fashionista Capa Mooty in an beautiful early Autumn ceremony in Santa Barbara. Aikman's romantic proposal came during a boating trip in Lake Como, Italy last June. Capa is aboslutely gorgeous and they look so happy together...so while their first marriages may have been fumbles, this marriage is looking more like the touchdown that wins the Super Bowl of romance. Still, not much is known about Capa publicly, so she seems like a bit of a wild card. But since they've been dating for at least a year, relationship uncertainty seems to be far behind them...as long as their exes don't try to block the end zone!
Ronda Rousey & Travis Browne
Pat Benatar sang "Love is a Battlefield," but for UFC superstars Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne, we certainly hope their relationship is nothing like fighting in the Octagon! The pair looked to be on cloud nine as they exchanged vows in Hawaii last summer. Travis was reportedly tongue-tied as he tried to propose beneath a casacading waterfall on a romantic trip in New Zealand, but when Ronda saw the ring, she already had her answer. The bride and groom look happy as can be, and one thing is for sure: this is one couple you don't want to mess with. If the husband doesn't kick your butt, don't worry -- this high-kicking bride is just as capable!
Kenya Moore & Marc Daly
Kenya Moore, star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, quietly married former banker and current restaranteur Marc Daly in a small, intimate beach ceremony in gorgeous St. Lucia last June. The duo kept their love so quiet that not even Kenya's co-star Atlanta housewives knew who the mystery man was. And things moved fast for this couple...once they fell in love, they wasted no time, with a period of about six months from the first date to saying "I do!"
Ben McKenzie & Morena Baccarin
Both co-stars on the hit series Gotham, Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin held their nuptials last June in none other than New York City. The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens made for a verdant ceremony surrounded by some of the most stunning, exotic, and elaborate indoor gardens in the entire world. The cutest part? The wedding day coincided with Baccarin's birthday, making an already special occasion that much more celebratory. Wait, no, that wasn't even the cutest part. A few months before the wedding, the Thespian duo had their first child together, adorbale daughter Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan. How cool would it be to see your own parents get married? Well, she might be too young to remember, but she'll sure appreciate the pictures when she gets older.
Pippa Middleton & James Matthews
Royal family member Pippa Middleton, sister of Kate Middleton, Dutchess of Cambridge, married financier James Matthews at a ceremony fit for a queen. Rising to fame as a bridesmaid at her older sister's wedding to Prince William, this celebration will be royal in its own right, with guests like Princes George and William, as well as other big names from politicians to famous actors.
