Jay Z & Beyonce
No musical power couples list would bec omplete withouy Jay-Z and Beyonce, so let's just get these two A-list lovebirds out of the way! Beyonce and Jay-Z have known each other since Beyonce was only about 18. After years of friendship, the two started dating after collaborating on Jay-Z's seventh album. Actually, we only speculate that's when they started dating. Beyonce played Jay-Z's girlfriend in a music video for a track on the album, leading to speculation the two were already in love. Either way, Beyonce and her hip-hop mogul boo tied the knot in 2008 in total secret. The press coverage would have been enough to overwhelm the occasion, which arguably would have been an even bigger media circus than with a royal wedding like that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Johnny Cash & June Carter
This dynamic duo became outlaw country music legends together, through incredible highs and miserable lows. It was all chronicled in the award-winning Joaquin Phoenix Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line: Johnny's drug addiction nearly tore them apart, but these two stuck together until the very end and performed together often. Johnny even proposed during a live performance in 1968, before scores of adoring fans, making them a direct part of the couple's romantic history.
Sonny & Cher
Anyone else out there wonder what the world would be like if this 60's and 70's musical power couple never got divorced? Sonny and Cher started as singers and then morphed into full-blown media darlings, with multiple television shows and albums together. When they got divorced they separated professionally as well, with Cher becoming a superstar in her own right as Sonny moved on to become an elected congressional representative in California. Unfortunately he met an untimely end, but Cher's place in superstardom continued all the way to being crowned "The Goddess of Pop" in a music and movie career that continues today.
Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love
We all know that this one ended tragically, but what a dangerously harismatic couple they were. Kurt Cobain and Courtney love dated until Kobain killed himself in 1994, with many fans blaming Courtney for the suicide. Ever since a Vanity Fair article linked Courtney to introducing Kurt to heroin, fans soured on the partnership. The Hole singer would go on after Kurt's death to become more famous than ever, making fans even more suspicious of her motives. Whatever the truth -- true love or just manipulation -- this legendary couple became the Sid and Nancy of the 90's.
John Lennon & Yoko Ono
John and Yoko are the musical power couple (and allegedly bandmates) fans loved to hate. The Beatles frontman met Yoko at an art exhibition she was headlining, and the two quickly fell in into a whirlwind of love. Since The Beatles broke up just a year after the wedding, however, fans immediately assumed Yoko was to blame. Either way, John and Yoko would collaborate on lots of art and music together until the peace-loving British rock legend was assassinated by a rabid fan in New York City.
