Bungalows are private, romantic, and oozing relaxed tropical vibes. That's why so many couples are intrigued by the idea of bungalow honeymoons. And as far as tropical destinations go, Belize is one of the best. While bungalows are often associated with South Pacific destinations like Tahiti and Fiji, Belize has a handful of Belize bungalow honeymoon options that are surrounded by Caribbean beauty, and are much more affordable than their South Pacific counterparts.
Now don't get us wrong, we love the South Pacific! But for couples seeking a bungalow honemyoon experience that's a bit less demanding on their bank account, Belize is a fantastic choice. That's why we decided to list some of our favorite beach bungalow honeymoons in Belize. Read on to see what they are!
Appropriately located on its own beautiful little private island smack-dab in the middle of a marine park known as Thatch Caye, Thatch Caye Resort has amazing service, delicious food, and some truly stunning bungalows for couples. Book one of their overwater cabanas for privacy, luxury, and a South Pacific style honeymoon experience that you don't have to fly to the South Pacific to get. Better still, Thatch Caye's Belize honeymoon and romance packages make it all even more affordable, with perks like candlelit dinner, drinks throughout your stay, transfers, and use of beach toys like kayaks and paddleboards.
For an adults-only private island resort in paradise, look no further than St. George's Caye Resort. The thatch-roof overwater cabana bungalows let the ocean breeze flow through your honeymoon home, and the no-TV policy means you are truly unplugged and unwinding with no distractions. But don't worry! The lobby has Wi-Fi, so you don't have to completely abandon your social media accounts while you're here.
However, your love for one another is truly the focus, with constant opporunities for romance in idyllic tropical surroundings. But if you crave adventure, beach and water activities galore mean you can snorkel, dive, kayak, fish, or enjoy all kinds of other adventures.
Another private island resort, Cayo Espanto features villas on the water, each with private pools. But the 1,100-square foot overwater bungalow is the real draw here. Of course, regardless of which you stay in, you get the same accress to Cayo Espanto's amazing spa, top-notch gourmet dining, and private beachfront galore.
Glover's Atoll is unique, as it's more of a camping experience than a traditional resort. But for some couples, that's just the ticket. There's barely any "service" here at all -- really. No spa, no WiFi, not even electricity or running water. You can enjoy home-cooked meals in the restaurant on the island, complete with turquoise lagoon views, but we really meant it when we called this camping! You can buy water on-site, and can still rent kayaks and other gear for plenty of ocean fun, but this is a true minimalist honeymoon destination that's perfect for couples on a budget who are obsessed with the great outdoors.
And for insanely beautiful surroundings and overwater bungalow "cabins" where you feel like the only couple on earth, Glover's Atoll is absolutely perfect. Just be ready to "rough it" a bit! The lack of development makes Glover's a true Caribbean bungalow oasis. Oh, and not only is it ultra-affordable, but they include all the coconuts you can eat and drink, free of charge!
