Would you ever have a group wedding with a bunch of other couples you've never met? What if it was affordable, involved almost no planning, and included a huge reception bash at the end? For couples who don't mind bucking tradition to try something new, The Wedding Party might be worth applying to. Billing itself as a stress-free alternative to traditional weddings, this new wedding concept being pioneered by former The Bachelor contestant Ben Higgins. His team is currently accepting applications from hopeful couples for its late 2019 Denver, Colorado debut.
Here's everything you need to know about how this unique wedding opportunity works.
How The Wedding Party Works
Couples can apply through The Wedding Party's online portal. Keep in mind that no matter what kind of couple you are -- LGBTQ+, previously-married, young, old, et cetera -- everyone is welcome to apply. The group wedding is set to occur in Denver on Sunday, September 1st, 2019. Only 12 couples will be selected for the final event. Couples pay a fee of $15,000 for the full package which is covered through the purchase of 100 tickets, at $150 each, to the wedding event.
Your guests can pay for their own tickets as well, effectively crowd-funding your cost. By doing this in lieu of asking for gifts, you can make this an option without having to worry about putting extra financial pressure on anyone. Also, if you want to invite more than 100 people, you can buy additional tickets beyond the 100 that you'll be automatically charged for. Being that the average cost of a wedding in the US is around $30,000, some couples could save a bundle on their wedding even without having their guests pay for their own tickets.
Children are allowed to attend, but they will need to have tickets purchased for them just like the adults. The website also makes a good point that at an event with 2,000 attendees, it will be very important to keep an extremely close watch on your kids. As for the dress code, a formal attire requirement will be strictly enforced -- and that includes kids.

How The Wedding Party's Ceremony & Reception Will Go
During the ceremony, each bride and groom's guests will watch from designated areas as every couple takes turns walking down the aisle. As you appear and walk down the aisle together, a DJ will play the entry song of your choice. There is then a brief ceremony with a non-denominational officiant. When it comes time to say "I do," the couples will do so in unison. After the ceremony, there will be a massive blow-out reception. This enormous party will include wedding cakes, areas to lounge and socialize, dance floors, live music, DJs, beer and wine tents, cocktails, dessert stations, and even art installations. The party will go as long as you and your guests want to stay awake!
What Kind of Food Will There Be?
As for food and drink, the full details haven't yet been released. However, organizer Ben Higgins promises food will be catered by some of the best restaurants in Denver. As for cocktails, he claims that some of the city's best will be there to mix cocktails. Being that it's a party for 2,000 or so people, it feels safe to say that vegan, allergy-friendly, and gluten free options will be available, but there's no way to know this for sure yet.
Who's Behind It?
Aside from Ben Higgins, star of The Bachelor season five, there is another key team members putting this concept together. One of them is wedding planner Heather Dwight, owner of Calluna Events. Recognized with honors from top bridal magazines, we're excited to see what she and Ben put together for this very unique day.
